Hello guys.
So i decided to try to root my g pad. I tried to root throw windows but I kept getting errors so I ended up using towelroot which gave me root access.
Then I wanted to install TWRP but when I did it throw windows I got errors and I kept having the stock recovery. So I tried with an app from play store but then I just got stuck with secure boot error... Now I am back with stock which I got with the LGmobile support software.
I have attached my software specifications. Can someone please tell me what I need to do to be able to install a custom ROM on my G Pad?
Thanks

Had the same question. Go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g-pad-83/help/current-installing-recovery-running-t2790834
@velein
I have exactly the same software specifications (V50020a) and Build-Number (KOT49I.V50020a) and this is what I did.
Tablet: Security- activate unknown sources, Developer options - USB-debugging enabled
Computer: download and install USB-drivers for LG G Pad 8.3 http://www.lg.com/de/service-mobil-telefon/lg-G-Pad-8.3
1. Root with Tovelroot V2 http://towelroot.com/
2. Install SuperSu v2.00 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
3. Start SuperSu and Update Binaries ( normal)
SuperSu says failed to update Binaries please reboot, rebooted
after reboot Supersu works fine.
4. Install SdFix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2684188
should work without problem, if not you have a problem with root.
5. Install Flashify http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2349847
Backup kernel & recovery , just in case.
I did NOT use this to flash the new recovery, but later on to enter in the new recovery
6. Download the newest version of TWRP for v500 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551499
Attention !!! you have to take the one where it says:" These builds are for the 4.4.2 bootloader"
download new version 2.7.1.0 !! 4.4.2-v500-TWRP_2.7.1.0-recovery.zip !!
copy the recovery.zip to your tablet
7. Download the tool to flash recovery from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698267
look at step 3 , download: V50020_aboot_twrp_v2.zip, to your computer and unzip it.
8. Connect the tablet (MTP) to the computer and run file:runme.bat, ! on tablet you have to allow acess from the computer and SuperSu acess for adb !
when finished disconnect usb and let the tablet reboot
9. On the tablet start Flashify , in the menu press: reboot to recovery
10.Tablet starts to the TWRP-recovery. Now go to:install and flash the new version of twrp(2.7.1.0) that you have copied to the tablet.
reboot system.
this worked for me.
Edit: For all who have the new V50020d firmware
you have to modify the runme.bat file before you run it!
Have a look over here, post 72
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2782422&page=8
change the V50020b to V50020d, dont forget to save the file.
Thanks guys. After hours og research and several tries I ended up using step 3 in i10terror's Korea thread. Worked without any problems. Thanks for the answers though.

Hey Guys,
i've got a problem: i tried to flash twrp like it was said in the Korea Thread, but my G Pad won't start into recovery.
Not when i type "adb reboot recovery" in CMD nor when i try to get into twrp with flashify.
Any suggestions?
Which software specification do you have? If it is the V50020a than have a look at #3.
Do you have root access? Did you flash the right recovery file for your tablet?
Would be easier to help if you could provide us with some more detailed information.

Of course, sorry.
Android 4.4.2
Kernel 3.4.0
Build-Nr. KOT49I.V50020a
Root Accesss: Yes
I already did step #3 several times (from this Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2698267)
After i did this and tried to reboot into recovery, it just rebooted normally and not into recovery.
It was the second time this happenend. After the first time i used the LG mobile tool and could reboot into stock recovery, then i tried again #3 from above and couldn't reboot into any recovery..
Ok, just to clarify. With. #3 I mean the third post in this thread.
Please try to install Sdfix so we can be absolutely sure that root is working. Have you installed the drivers from lg on your computer? Is usb- debugging enabled on the tablet?

Oops, sorry. It's early..
i also did your steps there, but they include the korean thread..
i did SDFix, it said and also says now:
"No Action Required, This device appears to already have write access to MicroSD Cards. No action has been taken....."
Yep and yep.
EDIT: Maybe it is important, if i try to reboot into recovery with flashify, in the top left corner is written:
Secure booting Error!
Cause: Device UnLock!, so Boot Success!!
Then it reboots into system.
On your computer you can see ADB Interface: Android Sooner ADB Interface in the device manager.
When connecting the tablet with usb you have set it to MTP or to charging only?

I set it to MTP.
I'm really desperate... i tried anything i found googling
can't install twrp or cwm recovery
I can't install even with this method, because my software specs are: android version - 4.4.2, kernel version - 3.4.0, compilation number - KOT49I.V50020a, software version - V50020a
Ops, didn't see your edit in post 10. The message is ok it is the same I have on my tablet before showing TWRP recovery.
Looks like you did everything OK but something messed up.
Did you get the tablet with this software version installed or did you get it per OTA.

I got it OTA, i once had twrp on it, but i tried to backup with LGs Tool and got stuck on bootloop and had to use LGs Mobile Tool.
Was the first of 2 times.
It's weird that i can't even boot into stock recovery, but in Flashify it says i got stock recovery installed...
Maybe the backup with the Lg tool wasn't a good idea.
When in Flashify you press Backup/Restore you can press the:!
In the small circle. It says that it reads the recovery from the latest cache file......so that maybe the reason why it shows you still the stock recovery.
I think the best would be to go back to stock with the Lg mobile support software and afterwards start again from the beginning like I posted in #3. Sorry
@Claudio Santos. Your tablet came with this software version or did you receive a OTA update?

I did go back to stock 2 times now and both times it did not work... used that method both times...
What else can I say, the discription in#3 is what worked for me on a new v50020a. Like you know it uses the method discribed in the Korea Thread, which worked for others also. The fact that you can see the message: Secure booting error......shows that the flashing tool worked ,but something went wrong at the end.
Maybe you should download it again ( just in case there was a problem with the download)and give it another try.
THANK YOU!

After trying 3 different complete HOW-TO ROOT and RECOVERY guides here on XDA and a few others on the internets, this gentleman finally helped me root and TWRPify my gpad. I was stuck on the last software struggling to find a way to root. I think all new GPad owners should start with these steps, as most guides, I feel like, are made for older software. Thank you Sir, you're a gentleman and a scholar!
I managed it!!!!!!!
I used the LG Mobile Tool and set the upgrade fail back (however it is called in english - sorry)
Then i did EXACTLY what you said in post #3
BUT! After you flashed the recovery for the first time you have to unplug your USB cable before rebooting and it will work!
Thanks guy, you're the best!

Allview P5 Qmax
Hi, anyone knows how to do root at Allview p5 Qmax? Thanks.
Hi all,
I have the Allview P6 stony myself. What I miss on this phone is the option to associate contacts to a SIM. I've been searching all over to find a solution for it. So far without luck. Thats too bad, because the quad version of the phone has this option integrated. I want to share my findings here, hoping anybody else can benefit from what I found so far.
This phone is sold all over the world with different names. The dual core version is know as:
Allview P6 Stony (Romania and the Netherlands)
Fly IQ 444 (Russian)
Blu Vivo 4.65 (american, has two versions based and band)
NGM We Move Legend XL (Italian)
There is also a Quad core version with jelly bean and the associate contact to SIM function ...
Gionee Dream D1 (Chinese)
Allview P6 Quad (Romania and the Netherlands)
Walton Primo X1 (Indian)
Nice detail: The Italian version has the function I need (associate contact to SIM, but I can't find it's ROM anywhere and their support department wouldn't give it to me)
As a new user I am not allowed to post links to the firmware I found so far but...
For the Fly IQ444 there is official and rooted firmware on 4pda.ru
with extension /forum/index.php?showtopic=415423
For the Allview P6 the firmware is on ther website allviewmobile dot com with extension com/fileadmin/p6_update/Allview_Update_P6_17012013.zip
For the Walton prima the firmware and update software is on some unknown site hellomobilecms.blogspot dot nl
with extension nl/2013/05/walton-android-primo-series-phone.html (google how to use...)
Now that I did my part in sharing.. I still have these questions.
Can I flash my dual core version of this phone with the quad core version firmware, or will that "brick"it?
Can anybody get his or her hands on the Italian firmware ?
Is there any other option to get this "associate contact to SIM" function working?
EDIT: The app "SIM selector" from th eplay store adds associate contact (number) to SIM functionality
How to add CWM recovery for Allview P6
Hi All,
I am still new to this, so perform at your own risk
Here is my How to add CWM recovery to your Allview P6.
First I need to say some thanks
OP here on XDA for telling how to root the Allview P6
Hohol on 4PDA.ru He posted the CWM for the Fly IQ444, I only edited his work so it was compatible with the original Allview P6 update
michfood here on XDA for explaining how to edit a recovery image and provide the tools to make it easy.
Ok so I said my thanks, here we go (on your own risk)
Root your Allview P6 (but since you are reading this in as a reply to OP's post I guess you allready did that
Download and install Mobileuncle tools from the play store. Watch out here, this tool can make you flash the wrong boot image!! so follow my instructions carefully
Download the recovery image for Allview P6 I created based on Hohol's recovery for Fly IQ444. (attached to this post)
Put the recovery image on your SD card (not in a sub folder, directly in the SD card root)
Start mobile uncletools en go to Recovery Update
Select the recoveryalvw.img file en go ahead, flash it :silly:
The file should be the first option available, if not it's probably on the wrong location
Now if you reboot in recovery you will have CWM available for backups and flashing of ROMS (And yeah, only Roms I found I allready posted above)
With this option I wass able to
Backup my Allview P6 Rom and Data
Flash Hohol's IQ444 CWM rom on my Allview
Restore the original Allview P6 update from Allview's website
Final note: I don't have the original Allview P6 recovery image, so once this is done, you can't go back. But that only matters for your warrenty and you allready broke that by rooting your phone Actually restoring the Allview original update did also restore my recovery image to it's original AND it unrooted my phone. Nice for warranty... less nice for me here I go unrooting again :silly:
Extra final note: Now I only need the NGM We Move Legend XL rom so I can flash that on my Allview... anybody?
It works
I have solved the problem and now have CWM on my p6 quad

So how did you solve it?
Do you want a other recovery on your phone, a other then the stock firmware.
You can use CWM or TWRP (TWRP is a full touch recovery)
Expand your internal memory from the phone to 2.5 GB
How to flash the recovery
You can use Mobileuncle MTK Tools, to download by Google Play Store
- Rename the downloaded recovery image to recovery and place it on the root from you sdcard-
- Start MobileUncle Tools (your phone must be rooted).
- Go to the tab recovery update.
- Now you will see the recovery.img file, chose it.
- It will prompt if you want to flash it, and after it will ask to reboot in recovery.
- now you have the flashed recovery on your phone
The other way is to flash it with SP Flash Tool (to download in the attachment files below " SP Flash Tool v3.1328.0.183.zip")
Download the attachment and unpack it.
- Open the program to double click on Flash_tool.exe
- Open the scatter file for you phone (the scatter file for the Allview p6 Quad is in the folder Allview; named "MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc_PMT"). If don't have a scatter file, create one for you phone.
- now double click on "recovery" and select the downloaded recovery image.
- be sure you only selected the recovery check box, not the other check boxes.
- select download, but not "firmware->upgrade", because you will brick you phone. So only choose "download"
- now power down you phone and wait until it is fully shutdown, then connect your phone to your computer with the usb cable.
Note that you have first to install the adb drivers and the USB VCOM drivers, other wise you cant use SP Flash Tool.
You can download the drivers also in the attachment files ("SP_Flash_Tool_drivers.zip"), and i assume that you know how to install a driver on your computer.
The best way to install the drivers for your phone is the shutdown the phone and press the volume down button, hold it, and press the power button, until the phone go's on. You will see a screen with factory settings, ore something like that, but that doesn't matter. If you now connect your phone two your computer it will find to new devices. Use the drivers in the attachment file to install the drivers on your computer.
Do it on your one risk! I'm not responsible for any brick!
How to root the Allview P6 Quad
- Download the attachment "motochopper.zip" and unpack it.
- Enable usb debug mode on your phone and connect your phone to the computer.
- Click on "Run" in the unzipped folder and follow the instructions, and after that your phone is rooted.
If your phone reboots, you will see the superuser app from clockworkmod. Don't uninstall it and install a other superuser APK, because a other superuser app doesn't work, only the clockworkmod superuser app.
Another way is to use UnlockRoot. Download it here and chose the free version.
- First root your phone with motochopper, before you use UnlockRoot, otherwise it doesn't work.
- Install and open UnlockRoot.
- Connect your phone to your computer (with USB debug on).
- Click on "Root" and wait a moment, until there is a popup where you can choose your phone; choose it.
- UnlockRoot will say that your phone is already rooted, and if you want to root it again. Choose yes.
- After it is rooted you will be ask to install some other app, but you can refuse it, then your phone will reboot.
- After the phone is rebooted, open UnlockRoot again and click on "Unroot".
- Wait until your phone is unrooted.
- Uninstall the superuser app from clockworkmod
- Install SuperSu from Chainfire, download it in google play, here
- After your phone is unrooted and you installed SuperSu, open UnlockRoot again and choose "Root", and again there will be a popup where you can choose your phone; choose it.
- Follow the instructions, and after your phone reboots, your phone is rooted correctly, and you can also choose other superuser apps, but first uninstall always the old superuser app if you want to install another.
I have no idea why it must go this way, but that was the only way for me to root my phone right, so i can install SuperSu.
Edit: new CWM V6.0.3.2
I ported a newer CWM version from HBB (V6.0.3.2) to the Allview p6 quad, with some more futures in it:
- dual sdcard mounting
- install zip from sideload (ADB)
- partition sdcard and partition internal sdcard
If you want to give it a try, download attachment "CWM_V6.0.3.2_allview_p6_quad.img" and flash it to your phone.

Edit: TWRP V2.4.4.0 for p6 stony and p6 quad
I have ported TWRP V.2.4.4.0 (Team Win Recovery Project), for both models, the p6 quad and the p6 stony. But i haven't tested it for the p6 stony, because i only have a p6 quad. But Salvolin confirmed it works on his P6 Stony.
I'm also try to port TWRP V.2.5.0.0, but the recovery gets to big to flash, so i try to solve that to get a other layout with pictures in it that have not so much kb. At the moment SP Flash Tool cant make the recovery bigger if i edit the scatter file, then there is a strange error, so i have to wait of e newer version from SP Flash Tools. But for me TWRP is a good recovery, because its full touch.
You cant restore CWM backups with TWRP, or TWRP backups with CWM
The only way to convert your CWM recovery to a TWRP is:
- Flash CWM and restore the backup.
- Flash TWRP and backup
- Flash CWM and restore another backup
- Flash TWRP and backup.
If you have 10 backups from CWM, and you want them all converted to TWRP, you must flash a few times between the recovery's.
For the P6 Quad, download attachment "twrp_2.4.4.0.img"
For the P6 Stony, download attachment "TWRP_v2.4.4.0_Allview_p6_stony.img"

How to expand the internal Storage to 2.5 Gb for the Allview P6 Quad.
This patch is only for the Allview P6 Quad, not the Stony.
First you make a backup from your phone with CWM or TWRP.
Download the attachments 'Allview_P6_Quad_2.5GB_internal.zip' and unzip it. Load the scatter file in Sp Flashtool. If everything is correct, you only see EBR1 and EBR2 selected.
Then hit the Download button, not the firmware upgrade button! If you download it to the phone, go into the recovery and do a factory reset.
Now you can place your backup back and reboot your phone. Now you have a 2.5 GB internal partition, instead a 1 GB partition.
The internal SD is now 300 MB.

But now I bricked it with a THW 5 or something rom :crying:
Hi there,
This may seem like a daft question but i have just rooted my Note 2 using Odin and i went ahead and installed CWM from the play store.
However, i don't seem to have the option of making a backup of my current ROM.
All it gives me is (in blue)
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache.
This worked on my HTC One X, am i doing something wrong? My Note 2 was purchased as SIM free from phones4u.
I'm on android version 4.1.2, baseband version N7100XXDLK7, BUILD NO. JZO54K.N7100XXDMB2., MODEL NO. GT-N7100.
Could my bootloader still be locked? Is this causing the issue?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Just flash CWM/TWRP recovery.
Here is one of it

Loading default android recovery even though TWRP successfully installed
Hi,
I am not sure if I should've started a separate thread for this, please move this if this has to be a separate thread but I've mentioned below why I am posting here.
My phone Galaxy note 2 International version GSM is rooted and I installed TWRP through Goomanager and I got a message stating that "Recovery was successfully installed". After this I shut down the phone and pressed Volume up + Home + Power to go into recovery mode and it still goes into the Android default recovery mode. I tried installing it again and still faced the same issue.
Since I was having a problem, I thought I will install TWRP through Odim 3.7. So, I connect PC to my phone and downloaded the openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.1-n7100.img.tar.md5 and opened Odim in administrator mode and clicked on PDA >> Start. Within a second I got an error stating "odin downloader has stopped working". I went to task manager and shut down Samsung KIES and tried again but still got the same error.
Next, I tried using the Samsung Note 2 Toolkit. Before I installed TWRP through option 5 in the toolkit, I wanted to Rename Recovery Restore files (if present) as suggested by the toolkit. When I chose this option, I get an error stating adbd cannot run as root in production builds. When I googled this error, it went to a post which said that the bootloader needs to be unlocked.
But then the previous post says that I need TWRP for unlocking the bootloader and I'm doing all this to first of all install TWRP.
Apart from this, as additional Info, when I open ROM Manager - Under Recovery Setup - Current Recovery is Team Win Recovery Project. When I choose to reboot in Recovery mode from the application, it goes to the Android System Recovery. No matter what I do, TWRP recovery just does not seem to open up.
I'm pretty clueless now as to what other options I have or if I have messed up somewhere
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you
its already unlocked :good:

Hi yahyoh -
The problem as I've described in my post is that I am unable to go into TWRP Recovery mode, I've installed the scripts using goomanager several times but when I shut down the phone and press volume up + Home + Power, it goes to Android Recovery mode and not the TWRP Recovery mode.

Yahyoh,
Thank you for your response but if you see my original post, I have mentioned that I had already tried Odin 3.7 and put my phone in download mode and got the blue color showing ID: COM but when I pressed start, Odin gave an error stating odin downloader has stopped working and the only dialog box was to close. So, once I press START, I get a error message in a second and have to shut down. I did make sure that I have the correct tar version as I downloaded from TWRP's website directly for N7100. I did make sure that Kies was also closed.
After this I tried using Toolkit and that didn't help as well. Kinda going crazy why such a simple thing is getting to become a irritating problem, been sitting on this for the past 4 hours.

I have tried downloading odin 4 or 5 times. The cable I have is brand new samsung cable. Right now, I dont have another pc but might have to go to a friends and try if that helps. I do have a mac but not sure if there is mac version of odin. I'm attaching a picture of what I see when I press volume up + home+power.

Hi,
1. Check that USB drivers are properly installed.
2. Your USB cable is proper and allows you to charge your phone as well as copy data from your PC.
3. Change USB port and try again. (This has worked in my case)

Usb drivers are installed properly. PC reads the phone as soon as itd connected. Tried three different usb ports that is available in my laptop. The phone does get charged when it's connected and I'm able to transfer data. Only thing left to try is a different pc.
Since ur already rooted, y not flash via mobile odin app? Untar to internal storage and rename the twrp image to recovery.img (btw theres a newer v2.5.0.2) and let mobile odin look for it.
Or u can dump the image directly to ur recovery partition using terminal apps:
Code:
su;
dd if=/storage/sdcard0/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p9 bs=4096;
sleep 5;
reboot;

Hi Nazar78,
Mobile odin app is not free, it needs to be purchased. I already have the twrp image in the internal storage and was looking around if there was a free version of mobile odin app somewhere but couldn't find it.
I do not know how to use terminal apps and not familiar with the commands etc. So didn't wanna try that and mess it up. As a temporary solution I have installed CWM latest version using Rom manager but TWRP would be much better as it seems to be more user friendly.
If you could tell me how to enter this terminal apps page, I will probably follow the codes you have given and see if that helps.
Thanks
just install Android Terminal : https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwxLDEsImphY2twYWwuYW5kcm9pZHRlcm0iXQ..
then type via keyboard what @Nazar78 wrote in the terminal
Just download any free terminal emulator app from play store and enter those commands per line each.
Btw u mentioned previously about adbd can't run on prod builds, its because the adbd binary in ur rom is stock, u need a patched one. Look for app called adbd insecure by CF. Or any custom builds should do the trick...
To flash recovery, tou need not to have paid version of mobile odin
Wait updating this post with link
Edit : here is mobile odin lite

Then download flasher kernel from post 7

Thanks Nazar78, Yahoyoh and Ketan, It's about 1:30am now, so I'm gonna shut down now and try these tomorrow. WIll get back with updates. Appreciate.
Also if you have installed EMET, a Microsoft software to stop security exploits, disable it.
It's cause me issues in the past.
I've also seen reports of people not having odin running properly when the kies process runs in the background. This was always the case when flashing with the Galaxy s, and might be a rare occurance with the note 2 too.

i already said at step 5, if you reboot right after flash rom then you cant flash xposed anymore. and righ now no recovery for ZL at Lolipop.
in my case, i must start over from step 1 dowgrade it to kitkat to able install recovery. right after flash rom do not reboot, keep flash xposed (xposed-sdk21-arm-20150430.zip) like the way you flash rom then it will done.

No, but you must root your phone to install recovery, as i know there are no way to root 283 and 292 unless you must flash lower kernel version.
if you rooted or you can find the way to root by yourself so skip step 1 and 2,
if not rooted, so read again dl2 (i already fixed )
it only 8MB then you dont need download full rom about 1GB and start from step 1

Read 4th post before proceedingThis method is to root & install TWRP on only T-Mobile LG G5 running Nougat 20a software. If your phone isn't on 20a then first downgrade/upgrade to 20a software.
Before asking a question, first, see FAQ in 3rd post. In that way you can save a lot of time.
For Video Guide refer to 5th Post
You need to disable antivirus before extracting files. Because we are using DirtyCow vulnerability here. Which is technically a virus (It's not dangerous for pc but for exploiting android to get root access). If you can't disable AV then don't proceed because process will not work

Procedure:Drivers should be installed. Also install minimal ADB and fastboot.
1: Make sure to unlock bootloader. Backup internal data because it will be erased.
A: First enable developer options and toggle “Enable OEM unlock” to ON. Also enable “USB Debugging”.
B: Run Minimal ADB and Fastboot. Enter Command
Code:
adb devices
C: You will see permission dialogue on phone. Tick “Always allow” and ok.
D: Now enter.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
E: Now phone be in fastboot mode. Enter
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
F: This will wipe all data on internal storage. Now Enter
Code:
fastboot reboot
G: Now OS will get booted. Bootloader will be unlocked but phone should be in factory reset condition. So again enable “USB Debugging”.
THEN
2: Connect phone with pc in MTP mode and copy recovery.img to phone’s internal storage (Make sure to select MTP as always to avoid problem during procedure). Extract recowvery software. (If it causes permission problems extract it to USB device and perform process from there)
3: Run “EasyRecowvery.cmd”. Press “5” -->Enter then press “7” -->Enter to disable integrity check. Then enter “0” to go back. Skip it if you are using Recowvery G5 modified.
4: Now press “2” and wait until it says warning. Press “y” -->Enter. (It won't say warning in Recowvery G5 modified)
5: It will do rest process. After Flashing TWRP it will flash “no-opt-encrypt” (This is most important to save twrp from being removed by OS)
6: Phone will boot into TWRP. Here on phone it will ask for decrypt code. Cancel it. Swipe to allow modification.
7: On pc press any key, the flashing process on phone will automatically get started. Then it will reboot into OS.
8: To flash supersu, select option 3 from recowvery windows and phone will boot into twrp. Same as step 5-6 it will automatically flash supersu.
Now Your rooted and have twrp install.
Note: For removing Encryption.
To flash a custom rom and remove encryption in twrp, you need to once format data in twrp else you won’t be able to wipe and install any custom rom in your phone.

FAQ
Recowvery tool is causing permission errors when I run it through computer's internal HDD storage. What shall I do?
Ans: There are possibly 2 workarounds for that.
A: Extract the zip to external USB storage and Run the tool.
B: Change the name of folder, in which recowvery tool is, to "1" and copy to root of storage e.g. "Computer:\D:\1".
Can I re-lock my bootloader after rooting and TWRP flashing?
Ans: No, as recovery partition modified now, this will brick your device.
Can I use V20C or later on my phone after rooting and flashing TWRP?
And: You can't take OTA after rooting as this might create a brick but fortunately @autoprime created TWRP flashable zips of firmwares e.g 20c,20f,20i and he might create newer builds too. Anyways here's the Auto Prime's thread, Go to "LG G5 Files" link and download file as per your variant and choice.
I bricked my phone after following this guide and now I can access only download mode, what shall I do now?
I'm on other version than 20a, What shall I do?
Ans: Really? It seems like you're kidding because this guide can never harm your device, It can either do it's work or not but there is no way for it to brick a device (Unless you don't read carefully).
Ans: You can take your phone back to v20a by using the following guide.
AnywaysYou can always bring your phone back to life by following this Back to Life thread.
How to remove encryption in TWRP? or I'm unable to access my phone's internal storage from TWRP, What shall I do?
Ans: So for this process.
a: Boot into twrp.
(you can boot to TWRP by any app or by vol- and power button combination or from option “5” --> “5” in recowvery toolkit (command window).
b: In TWRP, cancel code Windows, Swipe to allow modification then
Click -->Wipe-->Format Data-->type “yes”-->enter.
You need to do this only once. After that you can flash roms and zips unlimited times.
Will this root method work on 20c/d/e/f or others?
Well, it shouldn't. Because I tried this on 20c and it never worked, so I believe it will not work on any software other than 20a because LG removed that exploit to root after 20a. But you can try your luck and tell me if you succeed.
a: Thanks a lot i have one lg g5 h830 and i have some fear to lose the unlocking and i want to modify the phone.
b: Same i have anyone please answer it will i lost the UNLOCKING (Modified by shopkeeper) if i FLASH another ROM?
What are you people trying to ask here?
Bootloader Unlock:
Bootloader can be locked and unlocked anytime you can to do so just by typing commands in fastboot mode. In T-Mobile G5 the fastboot mode do not accept flash command that's why we can only lock and unlock bootloader.
TWRP:
As commands are limited in fastboot mode of T-Mobile G5, we are unable to flash twrp through fastboot mode. So, for this process we rely vulnerability found in G5 firmware. The only currently found method for doing so is by using dirtycow exploit to flash TWRP on H830. Only V20a contains this vulnerability to do so.
Summary:
So to flash TWRP and enjoy freedom of using custom rom (Which I suppose you refer as Unlock to) you need to be on V20a. Which can be flashed easily through LGUP with Uppercut or use my LG FlashTool method (Link in FAQ section). When on V20a firmware simply use this or your preferred method for flashing TWRP.
If you want to go back to stock, simply flash any stock KDZ and lock bootloader. If you want to get TWRP again, simply unlock bootloader and flash V20a kdz (or flash V20a kdz and unlock bootloader) then instal TWRP by using the process.
Important:
Currently our stock firmwares are running Anti-Rollback (ARB 01), LG can increment this whenever they want, whenever LG increase ARB to 02 or upper then you won't be able to get back to ARB 01 firmwares (e.g V20a ) again. Which means you can unlock bootloader but won't be able to flash TWRP as dirtycow is patched after 20a. So you will lose the ability to flash TWRP which means unlocked bootloader is useless unless someone finds another method of flashing TWRP.
So, if you want to stay unlocked, then make sure to install TWRP as described above and flash latest TWRP flashable stock base zips or use other roms like Fulmics or AOSP based. It's very simple and easy .

Nougat v20a only as the thread title says.
I had to extract to a USB device to get recowvery to work but it went smoothly from there, until I got to TWRP to flash the no verity zip. It hung on hit any key to continue, it didn't dawn on me till later I should have mounted USB storage (derp), but I already had the no verity zip and SuperSU on my external SD so I just flashed them manually, booted, and had root. Then I formatted data, lost root, and flashed SuperSU again to get it back. I later flashed @autoprime 20c zip with SuperSU and now I'm rooted with TWRP on 20c, tyvm for the tutorial

First of all you welcome, 2nd thanks for writing about your experience.
I am not completely assured but to make recowvery work in internal hard drive you need to change the name of recowvery folder to "1". Next time whenever you root try this method and let me know wether it worked...
And as you mentioned about having difficulty in flashing no verity. I think this issue is happening only on TWRP 3.1.0, on TWRP 3.0.1 it works fine, i think .
Does this method work with the latest update to 20f? Can I just try it without bricking my phone?

Thanks, I'll try that next time. I did use TWRP 3.0.1 though, but I'm thinking that without mounting USB storage, perhaps the verity zip couldn't be found to be flashed.
This worked perfectly!! Thank you so much again! I had to extract the recowvery to a usb stick and run it from there (it wouldn't run properly from the computer hd) and at first I got an error as I had put the recovery.img on the external phone sd. My bad. Anyway... I just copied it over to the phone sd and started over, and it worked exactly as explained in the OP.
AWESOME effort by everyone involved. XDA rules!
Btw... can I relock the bootloader now? And one more thing... I turned off "automatic system updates" in developer mode. I assume if I update to v20c or newer I will lose root? And I guess I should not update the supersu either?
Thanks again! You rock!!

As you installed TWRP, so recovery partition is modified which means if you relock bootloader, you will brick your device.
Also if you want to use V20c check @autoprime's thread for the TWRP flashable zip of V20c or later (if there any).
And if you want to update supersu you can do it either by newest supersu zip to flash it through TWRP or by updating it through playstore then update binary through supersu it self, but I think updating supersu mostly changes nothing.

Ok. Thanks for all the info. I think I will keep the v20a with the current supersu. It works perfectly! Hopefully it will not "automatically update between 23:00 and 04:00" as it says in "about phone/update center/system updates". From what I understand, it shouldn't as long as I have the "automatic system updates" set to OFF in developer options.
How can I boot into TWRP? When I reboot and try to enter TWRP I always end up in the hard reset menu where it asks if I want to wipe the phone... Do I have to boot into TWRP through ADB fastboot?

When you boot to recovery through hardware key combination, say yes through hardware keys twice (as you want to reset), it will take you to TWRP, thats the logic from lg g2

He is absolutely correct. That's exactly what I did on my H830 yesterday.
Keep up the great work people......
Got it after a few attempts
Thanks for the step by step. It is a good walkthrough for a tough device. With all the previous complicated, and sometimes confusing/conflicting, instructions in other (older) threads for the H830 I was nervous to try.
I struggled a little getting it to work; 1) .cmd returned "don't have permission to create log or backup files..." when running from my "documents" directory, had to run it in a root folder. 2) I got the wrong TWRP version at first and the process said success, but never made it to TWRP.
It was the most challenging of any device I have owned to get root, but happy to crack it. Thanks!

Salam bro,I followed your method and rooted the phone, after rooting I wiped system, data and cache so I could flash fulmics 2(based on v20c) which I had already downloaded,it flashed successfully but after booting on startup screen there's this popup error"settings keep closing " because of which I can't do anything so can u please tell me where did I go wrong, should I have wiped the system or not?
Hi! Could you please explain if this ROM will be compatible with my smartphone? I'm not sure, I don't found it on the list on LineageOS website.

Also, lenovo vibe c2
i am not even not able to root my device (blackview bv9600 pro) i don't think that you will be able to have any lineage rom also...

simply follow this guide -> LINK
- allow OEM unlock in the dev-settings (hit 5 times build number to see)
- allow usb debugging
- reboot to fastboot
- send "fastboot devices" command
- send "fastboot oem unlock" -> acknowledge
- send "fastboot flashing unlock" -> acknowledge
- flash the twrp image "fastboot flash recovery name_of_the_image.img"
- reboot into twrp by power of the device
- after that press vol+ up and power button (if i remember correct.. ) to get into twrp
- now u need a sd-card (micro) put no verity opt encrypt on it and magisk
- Backup all partitions u find.
- format data partition to get the size
- install magisk
- install no verity opt...
reboot
BV9600 should be rooted. Took me serveral times to get it working, because u need directly after "Flashing unlock command" to get the twrp stuff done.

exact same version.
---------- Post added at 10:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:27 PM ----------
First u need to go to fastboot mode, to unlock "OEM UNLOCK"
This is easy via adb
-> reboot fastboot
Did u install the correct driver? (ADB driver) is ur device listed?
i tried repacking it myself but with no luck so far, also tried various treble GSI, all booting on my BV9600Pro and basically working but mobile data and phone are broken so that's not an option for now
I don’t understand why unblock the bootloader at all if everything is installed on the MTK platform using the SP Flash Tool !?
Why these dances with adb and fastboot? if a everything is done much easier ...
You do not install the factory software using adb ? not ?? so why can't TWRP be installed and installed using the SP Flash Tool!? Why complicate things?
Root with sp Flash tool
Hi please Anyone could explain this procedure with Sp Flash Tool and post it?

Because the vendor (Blackview) locks the bootloader (like any other brand does) and does not allow installing any other recovery without it.!?

Is this a statement or a question? Sorry, I do not know English and I use a translator ..
II repeat once again, in order to install TWRP you do not need to unlock the bootloader!
it installs without problems using the SP Flash Tool
and this is not an assumption but a statement!
My first copy of the smartphone received TWRP. It was on my copy that all the first tests of TWRP and ROOT were conducted.

I'm glad to hear that it works that way to you. But that doesn't worked for me. So i wrote the way i took, to root. Let the others choose, wich way works for them. :fingers-crossed::good:
I am using another MTK device and SP FlashTool is great it lets you recover from any software brick. So I will advice people to use this method.
I am planning on buying bv9600 pro and having twrp ported and root is a good start to custom roms.
The touch driver issue on twrp should be easily solved with the good kernel module for the twrp. And official twrp support would be nice.
Subscribed to the thread will see where it goes.
hi guys, can you share a clean system twrp backup of bv9600? because my USB is damaged and i can not use sp flash tool to clean restore. thanks!
Hi, i try to root my bv9600 pro, but all i end up is on reboot the system restores to factory no TWRP or anything on it. I connected it to MTKdroidtools and it complains about a file /system/recovery-from-boot.p which restores recovery and obviously after it the system too.
Thanks for any help
edit: LOL nevermind, working fine now, don't know what was going wrong, in a last try just downloaded the latest stable magisk again. Thanks AMDFenics for the howto
Just one thing, can i get rid of this 5 sec. warning that the mobile is unlocked?
