sprint galaxy tab 3 root for 4.4 ?? - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently just got the sprint samsung galaxy tab 3. When I activated it, it updated to 4.4 kitkat . I cant seem to find the root method for 4.4, can anyone help, I just flashed the old method and it obviously isnt working.

I am also having this issue. I just bought the tablet (SM-T217S) and updated to 4.4.2. I flashed TWRP with Odin and then flashed armeabi universal root through TWRP as per these instructions. I see SuperSU in my apps but it crashes on start. Apps that require root don't work also.
I need root so I am willing to downgrade Android for it but I would love to have root on the stock 4.4.2.
EDIT: Found the solution. Follow the instructions found here (same as above), then flash the SuperSU update attached here with TWRP.

[Q] How to update to KitKat and ROOT ?

Hello, I have rooted my stock Galaxy Note 3 T-Mobile 4.3 and now I heard that Samsung is rolling out soon KitKat update for the Note 3.
My questions is, do I have to unroot and return to stock then update then root the exact same way I did before ?
Does updating to KitKat require a different root method ?
Can I restore my apps and how ? I dont seem to know how to use Titanium backup and I even purchased it!
Please help me and thanks

I believe that you can update to Kitkat via Odin when the official update comes to T-mobile while rooted but you will lose root in the process. As far as rerooting, I believe you can flash recovery with Odin and then flash SuperSu in recovery to get rooted again, although, I think I read somewhere that it wasn't recommended anymore?. Not sure though. I used auto root method which I'm sure would still work just fine with kitkat. For restoring apps I would recommend the App backup and restore from the play store. Very easy to use.
Why dont you flash a 4.4 rom that's out there

I generally NEVER accept OTA updates until Devs have a chance to look at it and okay it, or see what others feedback is after accepting. Don't take for granted that you are rooted and have unlocked boot loader access. And until official KitKat is released its all hearsay as to when it'll come out.

[Q] P605 rooting problem loop

Goodmorning.
I've seen various posts regarding the problem in rooting some P605 models. Anyone had is own solution but all scares me very much (who want to install the P900 mod, who wnat to flash with a file for P607).
I've found no solution right for the P605.
I updated my firmware to 4.4.2 version and now wanted to root: I tried several files for P605 (CF-Auto-Root-lt03lte-lt03ltexx-smp605.zip and also CF-Auto-Root.tar) but all gave me problems in boot loop. Even if Odin (3.9 version) after few loops gave me result of complete opeartion, but the loop never stopped. So I had to flash again the 4.4.2 version.
maybe my problem is that my P605 comes from 3 carrier from Austria.
I updated the firmware (so I also unbranded it) and made the carrier unlock (by paying).
I still look for a way to root it.
thanks for the help
Current CF Auto Root DOES NOT work with stock 4.4 ROM, period.
Flash your stock 4.4 rom and install TWRP with ODIN, then flash supersu with TWRP and the tablet is now rooted.
Use towelroot and keep knox 0x0.

Done just now. it works. easy and quick:
please remember to disable auto firmware upgrade to avoid the block of the root done by android.
thanks)

Can you flash a new rom without root?

I got an SM-P600 today and let it update. I then (thought I) rooted and installed TWRP. I booted into TWRP and did a nandroid and it worked fine. After rebooting, I tried to restore tibu backups from my Note 8. I found I was not really rooted. I had used the root method for 4.3 instead of for 4.4.2. However, the 4.4.2 root file is not currently available on chainfire (bandwidth exceeded error) and there are no mirrors. Since I already have TWRP installed and it appears to be working, can I just flash a new rom anyway?
Find a pre-rooted rom and flash that to get root. You could also see if someone could post the root file too. Hope this helps.

P600 on Samsung Lollipop 5.1.1 - How to root and install TWRP

I have flashed the latest Lollipop release from Samsung on my Note 10.1 2014 Edition. I tried using the rooting guide using Odin located at (http://www.wikihow.com/Root-the-Galaxy-Note-10.1-2014-Edition). All seemed to work as expected except the Note 10.1 is now stuck in a boot loop. I can still get to the download screen but not sure what method to use to install TWRP and root. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
That method doesn't work on 5.1.1. You can either use an insecure kernel or a modified one.
The second one has worked well for me. It's fairly straightforward. The detailed instructions are at

Can I root the note 10.1 2014 on 5.1.1 LMY47X.P600UESDPL1

HI, I got my son a wifi P600 note 2014 for his birthday a while ago, and it came with kitkat on it, so i was able to update it, install twrp, and root it. Now i bought another one for my girlfriends son, but his came with 5.1.1 LMY47X.P600UESDPL1 already on it. I cant find any information on whether or not i can install twrp, and then do the cfauto-root just like i did on the other one. Has anyone out there done this yet, or is it pretty safe to try it and i can fix a brick with Odin? I've been a Motorola and HTC guy, don't have the whole Samsung thing down yet.
Thanks, Mark
If CF has LP on autoroot website its good.
That exact version number of 5.1.1 is not on the autoroot website. But I believe the update on the tablet was just some security updates, so I thought mAybe auto root would still work. But if it don't work will it just fail or will it brick it. Can I use Odin and a stock fw file to at least get back to stock from a brick?
Just reread what you said, and now I'm thinking your saying that as long as Cf-autoroot page has a 5.1.1 lp version for the p600 it will work on any 5.1.1 update of the p600?
Why not just do it the old fashioned way? Flash twrp using odin and then directly boot into twrp and flash the latest supersu binary from the chainfire's website. I just did this with PL1 firmware and everything is running fine. Installed busybox, fdroid and adaway eveything working just fine with root permissions
Just so everyone knows it did work rooting with cf-auto-root , then I was also able to flash twrp with Odin. Everything is working great.
Hey I have the same tablet and version but new to this topic and don't know how to root my tablet. I'm searching for a guide for my device. Do you have some tips? Or maybe will explain how you did it?
