If you are talking about custom ROMs, I believe it should be possible. I haven't taken the 4.4.2 OTA update yet but I haven't seen or heard of anything that would preclude the flashing of custom ROMs. Of course, you need to a lot of research on customs before flashing and, especially, be sure they won't attempt to mess with you bootloader. Most custom ROMs don't touch your bootloader but it's still important to make sure.

I'm coming from cm10 and I'm going to flash zedomaxs high on android rom and I read I needed a stock modem to go along with it since it's basically a stock rom and there's so many which do I chose since coming from cm10??? Any help appreciated

Actually its not the modem. Those should work with any of the roms here. You are thinking of the kernel I believe. Theres only a few to choose from and it boils down to preference.
If you are going to the UVALH2 update or later, you will need a purely stock kernel. Custom ones aren't working yet.

I noticed there is a OTA update for my AT&T Note 2 SGH-i317, but I have rooted it in the past using Oden. Unfortunately, I have deleted some of the bloatware, so how can I install the update if the original files are gone? I've only rooted the one time, so I am kinda new to this. Could someone walk me through the process? Thanks!
I'd you4e rooted then you do not want to accept the ota update. Just wait until the rom developer incorporates the updates in their rom.

Thanks. I have only rooted once, so I am quite the noob. Answer me this please. I used cf root does that change anything?
Look in the development section for the rom thread posted by NunHugger.
He has the complete rom already rooted for download.
It won't be long before we have many more to choose from I'd suspect. ..g

Thanks! So, download the appropriate ROM and use Oden to flash it? Sorry, very new to this. I am technical, just new to phone kernel flashing.
Hi,
I have a AT&T galaxy s3. It always takes forever to get a software upgrade.
I am wondering if I can upgrade the android system to the latest version whenever it comes out if I flash the s3 rom to the original stock rom (from the official android website, not third party rom).
If yes, how I can do that? Can anyone give me a link of the tutorial about how to flash back to the official android stock rom?
Appreciate!

Here is everything you need. Don't forget to read and most importantly, don't forget to update bootloader if your flashing past 4.1.2

I still can't figure this out. I tried flashing modems, bootloaders, and no matter what I end up with the Status 7 error when trying to flash a recent CM nightly or RC.
Are those stock ROMs in the link up to date?
I need to know what the difference is between 4.3 and 4.4. How do i upgrade to it? Do i need to do it to run kitkat roms?
I have flashed about 4 kitkat roms and they all have issues. Like freezing and rebooting. I think maybe because i am on the 4.3 bootloader.
I just dont fully understand this stuff yet.

So i found this post but i still dont fully understand it. So if i flash a kitkat rom and a new kernel does that automatically upgrade my bootloader to 4.4? Currently out of all the kitkat kernels only 2 of them will boot my phone all others i just get stuck on the samsung logo. Including the stock kernel.

Please search the Development thread. TEKHD had made a very easy step-by-step guide on how to upgrade.
Its T Mobile Samsung SGH-M191 running Android 4.3, can I download a rom from ether Android development or original android development and flash a 4.4.2 rom on it?
The know app is gone, the custom rom counter is still there,
I flashed CWM recovery on rooting and am running WIcked V10 currently
Region unlocked, but not sim unlocked

Yes you can. If you are rooted you can flash any Knox free ROM. That includes 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4 ROM. I'm currently on Insane KitKat its a great ROM.

Thank you this s4 rooting is easy enough but the ROMs are kinda different than the s3s were to me, or maybe its because when I had the s3 I only ran TPR.

You mean TWRP?I was a long time user of the S3 myself. I've stayed away from Aosp because for some reason it breaks functions when I go back to Touchwiz. It did very well for me when I used HTC devices but not Samsung.

No I meant TPR as in a ROM called The Peoples ROM, my GS3 was on Sprint and being new to rooting anything that advanced TPR was the closest to stock with no sprint bloat ware in it,
I have since learned how to add and remove what I want to make a ROM customized to my personal needs and wants. Is, I like adding Kii keyboard into a ROM before flashing, since I love it so much I bought it
