[SOLVED]Nexus brick. OMAP Flash Tutorial in post 10

Hello guys, my nexus died
I had some problems with a rom so i decided to restore a previous backup(bigxies JB rom) which was working when i backed it up ofc.
Did the backup and hit reboot in cwm, nothing.
wont turn on wont get into fastboot no download mode nothing. when i plug in a charger no charge animation, nothing.
i tried flashing a stock rom with the nexus toolkit but it keeps saying waiting for adb. nothing happens.
windows doesnt recognize it either when i plug it in my pc..
any ideas? it seems that i am screwed

you have to install the correct drivers first, if you can get into fastboot then you can return to back stock

i cant get in to odin mode either, the phone basically behaves like it doesnt have a battery, no sign of life whatsoever.

when i connect my phone to the pc it shows up as omap4440 in device manager, then it disconnects and reconnects every 2 seconds..

I tried a omapflash program i found but it keeps saying waiting for phone to connect

quick update, managed to install the omap4440 drivers and reflashed my OMAP 4440, now i can get into download mode

For people that might encounter the same.
download https://rapidshare.com/files/1168981...Flash_tuna.zip and unpack the zip on desktop or w/e.
now when your omap4440 is recognized by device manager quickly double click and install drivers(you have about 2 seconds) select search drivers on pc and select desktop(drivers are in the above download.
When thr drivers are installed run the *.bat file in the download
after that u can get into download mode and odin flash a stock rom.

Yes i can confirm that. Everything is working as it should!
Actually in my case i didnt even have to odin flash anything. After omap reflash everything was working. Download/fastboot even my old rom booted fine.

maybe sbl or fat32 boot partition (x-loader, uboot, kernel) was missing.
one more thing: how long did omapflash took to complete?

I am glad you fixed it

About 9 seconds mate after that it said touch any key to continue but all it did was repeat the process so after 3 times i was like ****it. And yeah i dont think major files were corrupt in my case. Just some inportant ones.
Im also glad i fixed it and i hope this will be usefull for sb else.

i am quite sure sb will need it. i've been collecting information on dead boot state on our device, and will probably try to make it into a small guide.

But now I am stuck in a boot loop i think ( it won't do anything but showing me the lg sign )
I tried downloading the kdz file but there isn't 1 site for the Dutch one @ NLD/Netherlands (tbh there is but all the links are down)
I can't boot into the cwm either and I also can't do hard reset...
Can anyone tell me what to do?

I found a sollution for this.
Download LG Mobile Support tool ( http://lg-support-tool.en.lo4d.com/ )
Put your phone in download mode "Hold the VolumeUP + VolumeDOWN Button and plug in the usb cable from your device to your pc [DON'T PRESS THE POWER BUTTON], let it install the drivers. ( To be sure it found you'r drivers, you should press on : Install Drivers
Once you installed your driver of the e98x ( mine is e986 ) Press on Extra functions - Upgrade-error recovery.
Make sure it found your device and make sure you are connected to the internet "IT WONT WORK WITHOUT INTERNET CONNECTION"
Launch it and it will reset your phone to new ( it did for me )
Don't get mad if you lose you're data T_T this worked for me so it should work for you to

Nope, aint working since it says that my battery isn't fully charged. but i even tried the battery of a friend of mine and it says the same..

are you able to enter into the recovery by pressing pOWER + VOLUME UP ? the device must be turned off and to be sure, pull battery and charging cable off and put battery back to do the pressing combo.

you told that u cannot boot into cwm which sounds pretty serious...

how do you get into the recovery mode?
please do not mistake cwm and recovery mode, because cwm is your recovery mode.
so please tell what steps you were using so that we can help you

well, I tried powering off the phone----holding volume DOWN+UP and plugging the usb into my lg.
I also tried that while I took out my entire battery but the same results

Ehm guys, I would like to know how to get my phone back to the stock image. I am still stuck on the error which says my battery is empty when I try to restore it but I quess it is because my phone thinks it is en E980 while it is an e986
Or it is because I flashed Madmacks kernel or smthing. Any solutions? :C I just wanna go back to the stock image D:

1. connect ur phn to ur pc and install flashtool from step 4.
2.install drivers of ur mbl
3.download the kdz firmware file u want from here http://www.lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=25
4.now follow the steps provided in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2797190
5.its better to choose cse flash as i did that(when i chosen normal flash,the update stopped saying some error.so disconneted my net connection and tried again.it worked)
6.if u follow the above steps correctly,ull get ur phn back within 6 minutes.
(sorry for my english) and please let me know if ur phn is back.

Unfortunately I don't have the 986 and didn't catch that was your specific model. If you're in a bricked mode already and have access to your original FW then its worth a shot for recovery. YMMV

follow the first guide "KDZ Flashing Method"
make sure you have your internet connection disabled when you start LG Flash Tool and that you are using Windows 7, i dont know if it will work on windows 8, but im sure it wont work on winXP.

[Q] My G3 is Softbricked - $20 to the first person that can help me fix it!

I'm going crazy here and I need my phone to work!
I have an LG G3 on Verizon.
I rooted it and edited a part of build.prop to change the DPI which got the phone stuck in a boot loop and kept popping up "the process com.android.systemui has stopped.
I tried clearing cache
I tried booting in safe mode
I then did a factory reset
My phone boots up to the Setup Wizard screen but I am STILL getting that systemui error and a com.android.phone and I can't get any further than that screen.
I then tried to use the LG FlashTool to just wipe the entire ROM and replace it with the stock one from Verizon.
This gave me a "Model Information Check FAIL!" error but I DO have the right ROM for my phone. There's only one for the Verizon G3 as far as I can tell
This led me to realizing that there is something in the build.prop that's making LGFlashTool think the proper rom actually isn't right.
I then installed the Android SDK so I can ADB into my phone. but whenever I run "abd devices" nothing shows up in the list.
I was told USB Debugging needs to be turned on in order for this to work, I don't remember if it's turned on or not with my phone and I can't get past the Setup Wizard to edit anything. I wonder if ADB is even running properly on my phone or if these errors are stopping it?
I will gladly paypal someone $20 if they can get this working for me.

One of my friends saved his phone by this guide

Download mode - LG PC Suite - Restore update error.
1. Remove battery
2. Boot phone into download mode
3. Open LG PC Suite - restore update error
This method have saved me a few times.

Will adb work in one of the recovery modes even if it wasn't enabled in the full boot mode? If so, start there.

Regarding your USB debugging question, you would have had to turn it on in order to root the phone originally, right? If so I imagine it would still be on unless you unchecked it. You have the proper drivers set up? Anytime I've encountered issues with adb devices not returning any results the issue has been drivers.

Hey thank, I haden't tried this but just gave it a go and the program is giving me errors when I try to restore update error. I don't think it's connecting to the phone.

What do you mean recovery modes? You mean like Safe mode? I actually haven't tried that. I'll give it a go.

I believe I have the proper drivers, I installed drivers and the phone is showing up in device manager as Alright.

Try hooking it up to the lg support tool and select uprade recovery.
Download and install support tool
Open tool
Plug in phone with phone on.
Top right select options/upgrade recovery
Let it do its thing.

When you looked for phone in device manager did you change the port to com41? I forgot to do that and got the error in LG Flash Tool

Oh man should've told you that. Sometimes its just a driver acting up and you have to manually delete them in the device manager. Sometimes there marked with a symbol .

d855 bricked?

I'm in a bit of a pickle...
Phone is dead, I'm unable to wake it using any method, however PC sees the device being connected. I have tried to restore TWRP backup which was completed correctly but then phone stuck and failed to wake up again. I have tried to unbrick it using the LG flash tool and dll +tot files however this method fails each time -with factory model check error - and download fail notification. Right now im waiting for kdz file to download (im using the tool checking my imei to select correct one) but it takes ages with my internet.
Anyone has any ideas? Am i doomed?

Happened to me also. I got out of it by using LG flash tool and clicking on options and selecting restore recovery. It puts it back to stock and you then need to reroot etc.

Options? On mainstream there isn't any. Is it on the 2nd screen after adding the kdz?

Phone:
No download mode
No boot on the phone
Device acts dead - only visible on my pc (serial port LGE)
PID and IMEI not available to read using LG flash tool 2014
Tried
Loading KDZ file - connection failed
using tot and dll with flash tool - Failed to connect to device
Read something about laf.img using adb... Anyone has any other ideas? Funny enough when I was searching forums I was not able to find more info about cases when device is not waking up at all. but now i see few very similar threads around? Possible flaw somewhere?

Thank God it is showing a serial port, try flashing with LG tools 2014, let me find a fix for your download error...
EDIT: Is your phone by any chance plugged into a usb 3.0 port? If yes then please plug it in a usb 2.0 port and try again...

Laptop has no usb3.0 so im safe there. Tried 3 cables as well. Not sure what was it shown it was I think Android device but it is no longer there. Just the com port. Lge

It might be the PC (work pc at the moment and some IT limitations on it) however drivers installed ok, software confirms that I have latest software on my device - when phone is connected to the pc. After running Recovery Upgreade, it gets problem with comunication between the pc and mobile. in troubleshooting asks to power on the mobile (which I cannot do) before retrying. Also I have installed LG usb driver from outside as options coming with this software seem to be for really old models?

A thing I tried with another G3 was to connect the phone to the PC without the battery and then insert the battery, disconnect from phone and then remove battery again then insert and hold volume up and connect the USB to the phone again and it went into download mode and allowed the use of LG support tool as before.
Its worth a try!!

No dice... so far. I'm back home in 2 days when i can try all of this again making sure that PC is not restricted from any functionality... although it does sucks to not to have a phone until then. If you get any ideas I'm happy to try it as well.. as not like i have anything to lose at this point.

Help! I think I bricked my LG G3 and now I am in a boot loop!

I decided to downgrade my LG G3 D851 from Lollipop 5.0.1 to the stock firmware.
I followed all of the steps of to downgrade my LG G3 D851 to the tee.
Towards to end, you have to restart your phone at the blue screen, this is what I did by taking out my battery when the big red "3" came up. It looked like it worked fine in the video right? But, to my luck, it just created a boot loop that I cannot get out of.
The reasons that I cannot get out of this boot loop are:
1. Because the LG G3 is so messed up, my computer will only recognize it as an unknown device even with the drivers installed.
2. The only way as far as I can see right now to fix it would be to follow the steps of the SAME video that caused this.
Any solutions guys?
Sorry if I am being vague, I'm kind of new around these parts and to rooting. If you need any answers I can surely provide.

Okay see if you can cancan get ti download mode. Take out your battery, put it back in, then hold volume up and plug in the USB. You should see a firmware update screen. Once there use lg flash tool to flash back to stock via kdz or tot.

Hey! The reason that the boot loop was created in the first was BECAUSE I tried to flash back to stock. Also, even if I did try to do this, the PC would not recognize the device and would register it as an "unknown device" even if I have LG G3 drivers.

Do you mind sending a screen shot of what you see in the computer? Does your phone still go to download mode anyway?

Do you have access to a computer with windows 7 or possibly 8. From what I know WIndows 10 is not supported by lg drivers yet. This could have resulted in your brick, however you can try to uninstall the drivers and re install them.

should try running the lg suite on your win 10 machine in compatibility mode for an older windows
