[Q] Need Help - Sony Xperia ZL

I'm trying to flash my zl and I thought that I downloaded the ftf file for flash tool, but all I downloaded is flashable_101.part1.rar and part 2. Flashtool Xperia flashing tool (v0.9.16.1) doesn't seem to understand a .rar, and neither do I for that matter. I just need EXACT information on how to flash my zl C6506 to android (4.3) 10.4.1.B.0.101. 4.4.2 10.5.a.0.230 has made my phone unusable and I just want to go back. I was very happy with 4.3 and I've read through all of the forums about which version etc..., but I'm not a developer, I'm a network guy. I just want instructions on how download and properly flash my phone, no assumptions please. Just directions, I'll donate to whomever helps me get my phone fixed. Sony doesn't seem to care, but I spent a lot of money on this phone and I just want it to work.

1. Download the FIrmware
2. DOwnload the flashtool
3. Put the FTF on firmwares foleder (inside the C:/Flashtool/Firmwares)
4. Connect your phone into flashmode (or fastboot i forget which one) by turning off your phone and hold volume up button while plug the usb
5. Click on "Thunder" icon and select the FTF and Flash it.. (If you want to upgrade don't tick Wipe Data and Cache, if your phone is already bricked, or stuck in booting, then wipe your Data and Cache)
6. Only 5 steps
If it help, press thanks button

You'll have to unpack .part1 and .part2 with winrar, winzip or 7z (all you have to do is right-click on .part1 and select "unpack". It will automaticly unpack .part2 and you'll get ftf file that you'll need to put in flashtool/firmware folder. If you get zip file when you unpack those two part, that means you got file that flashable from recovery, but If you don't have recovery installed on phone , you can't do much with it.
So look for ftf firmware files that you flash with flashtool, not for zip files that is flashable with recovery.
Once you have ftf files in flashtool/firmware folder, in flashtool press lighting icon and choose "flash mode" and choose firmware from list.
Click flash, wait untill flashtool is prepair files and once it's done (it will tell you) press and hold volume-down on phone and while that button is still pressed connect usb cable.

Out of town, and just got back. Followed your directions now it just keeps rebooting. Directions were not exact. There was no unpack on the right click using 7-zip. The flash tool said to hit the back button, however I held down the down volume and what's listed below is what the log says. Now the phone

Did you even try to power on phone in those 37 seconds when flashing was finished?
Try with master reset (remove sdcard and hold reset button untill it vibrate 3 times)
Also, is your model c6506?

[Q] Bootloop after going from Kitkat to JB

Hi guys
I followed these to flash using flashtool by Androxyde

http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...stock-roms-t2240614/post46289357#post46289357
No issues at all, all went fine, but it went into bootloop. What should I do?
Just FYI, I didn't wipe data or cache during flash. Could that be the cause? Thanks

Just FYI, I didn't wipe data or cache during flash. Could that be the cause?

Report back after flashing again and wiping. JB and KK are different OS's so chances are that's the problem. You could probably get away with not wiping when flashing another KK ROM on KK FW and the same goes for JB.

will do bro
thanks for the info
i am actually very disappointed with Google this time round. I have been an Android user for quite some time, going from Eclair to Froyo to GB to JB and now KK. Each new release is significantly better than the predecessor, except for KK. First time I'm going backward

[Q] HELP: Xperia M dual - "Type password to decrypt storage"

Dear Sirs
I am new to this forum and this is my first post.
I purchased sony Speria M Dual in Dec 2013.
In the month of march 2014, Phone developed a bug. One morning, when i switched on the phone after charging, phone is showing following message " Type password to decrypt storage". However, i had not set any password.
Then i took this phone to service center in Mumbai. After 15-20 days, they informed me that phone's mother board is locked and they have to change the motherboard to correct this error. And they also informed that changing mother board does not fall under WARRANTY. So they refused to solve the problem.
Phone is not rooted, Bootloader is locked. Phone is running on stock firmware...i think 4.1.2
I have tried flashing the phone thru PC companion ...but it says "update unsuccessful".
I have tried flashtool also...but again not successful.
Phone is not entering into Recovery mode.
I request you to help in resolving this problem
Regards
Kapil
Common problems disappear when flashing hh use flashtool.
Can you give me log in flashtool?
Sory for my engelish
That's nonsense! They're just basically going after the money. You don't have to replace the motherboard, that's rubbish. All you have to do is to download Flashtool by Androxyde, make sure that you have installed the proper drivers, download any FTF from the Android Development section that suits you, then flash it. If you need a more detailed explanation, then just reply...

Yes, please do post your log fron flashtool. what sony has said is a load of bullcrap, the warranty should cover it, your phone is faulty. Just for my own curiosity, do you have the adb drivers for your phone installed? And also which drivers did you install from the drivers folder in flashtool?

Okay, from the log it shows it can't flash the kernel from the ftf. Download a 4.2.2 ftf (the one for your device, 4.1.2 is for the single SIM) or a 4.3 ftf for the dual SIM and try flashing them. Post the logs, preferably in text format rather than picture format, if you get more errors.

Ok, i think i know what you might be doing wrong. Just tell me, (1) do you first press flash and wait for it to tell you to connect your phone.(2) Or do you connect your phone in flashmode and then press flash.
Just tell me 1 or 2

Download the firmware what you are currently running (15.2.A.1.12) and then press the lightning bolt in flashtool. Then click flash mode and then select the 15.2.A.1.12 firmware. Click the checkbox next to kernel and then click flash.
It appears as though your device is going into a read only state once it tries to flash the kernel.

More info: It won't reach the bootanimation, It's stuck at the SONY logo only.
Device can no longer do offline charging. When doing so, a green and then red flash of LED light comes on. What's happening?! D:
Flashmode is working with the LED turning on expectedly
I really hope this doesn't mean a bricked phone...
EDIT: Okay I found out the problem, I was using Flashtool that was not compatible with the Xperia M... Problem solved.
hello mate, i have the exact problem. Can you please give me the link to the correct/compatible version of the Flashtool? Thanks in advance.

Installed the drivers from flashtool driver folder and sonys website (switched off driver verification under windows 10 first - last time i used flashtool it was before upgrading windows 7 to windows 10)
So far so good, the xperia s is now in flashmode but i am still unable to flash the firmware.
Tried to flash stock ROM/firmware over flashtool (Version 0.9.18.6) and got this log:

Failure may be for various reasons.....
1. try with another version of flashtool.
2. Redownload official.ftf.
3. Uninstall all drivers and the reinstall.

Which version of flashtool do you recommend? I used an older version because I had the information that newer would not work with the xperia s.

You can try newer versions. Actually I have not tried flash tool to flash my Xperia s from 1 year... Sorry
Now the battery of the device seems to be empty and it can only be switched on again sometimes. When it is connected to a charger, the led lights only red.
I tried to flash the stock ftf another time using flashtool after i managed to get in flash mode by turn off the mobile thru TWRP after unplugging the batterie for some minutes.
the log says flashing worked:

now i'm waiting for the device to start up plugged in to a wall charger (no led light). at the moment it stucks with just the backlight on after sony logo...
The device switched off by its own and the led was and is red again (also after a few hours on the wall charger).
Anyone got an idea what to do?

Click to collapse
Can you disassemble your device? If yes then remove battery completely from device.after few seconds put the battery again and try to boot into flash mode and flash the stock ftf again
Don't screw your device until you fix your problem.. You may need to remove battery several times to fix this
If you still not able to enter to flash mode then charge your battery by any external charger...

I tried to flash the stock ftf another time using flashtool after i managed to get in flash mode by turn off the mobile thru TWRP after unplugging the batterie for some minutes.
the log says flashing worked:

Can you disassemble your device? If yes then remove battery completely from device.after few seconds put the battery again and try to boot into flash mode and flash the stock ftf again
Don't screw your device until you fix your problem.. You may need to remove battery several times to fix this
If you still not able to enter to flash mode then charge your battery by any external charger...
