Official Changelog
@toastido created a thread with a download link to the new firmware as well as parts of the ROM broken out for individual flashing (boatloader, modem, etc). Take a look at his thread here.
Thought this update already came out seeing as I have VoLTE?
Here's the link from T-Mobile:
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-9050
It is weird that I am already able to make and receive voLTE calls with NE6.
Hopefully this brings "Private Mode" to the Note 3 this time. I got the "Kids Mode" with the last VoLTE update.
---------- Post added at 09:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:16 PM ----------
and this link says its only for the S5.
http://www.tmonews.com/2014/06/samsung-galaxy-s5-to-get-t-mobile-volte-software-update-today/
Could it possibly be a fix?? I have voLTE on NE6 but sometimes my calls sound disturbingly garbled and I have to hang up and call back.

I need to know the same thing!
I rooted before I even read about KNOX so that thing was tripped the day I dropped $801 for it. No warranty since day one!!!
I think the link says that this update is about improving VoLTE service.
The previous update gave us VoLTE and this one just improves the service.

I didnt even boot my device up before i tripped knox. Warranty, really, your concerned about a warranty? If you mess it up flash like another phones bootloader and it wont even turn on, take back to t mobile.
Update to 4.4.2. You wont regret it.

Agree 100%, T-Mobile does not give a crap about Knox tripped devices, they care about money. Why would they jeopardize a sale because of the counter. it just doesn't happen, and I'm sure now 20 people will chime in with their story, and I'll call bs. 4.3 was horrible in comparison, why would he want to stay on old firmware. just doesn't make sense. like hmm I really like old features, and no ROMs.. awesommee.

Up until this point, I thought I was the only one who read that sentence.... LOL. This update says it improves the VoLTE service. It is only 18 MB in size. Looks like a baseband and some tweaks.

t-mobile really doesn't care if Knox was tripped. this is my 5 or 6 replacement phones. I replace it for every upgrade and every time I feel the phone has been flashed too many times and starts acting weird (could be just me seeing the phone slow). they don't care at all. plus they get to charge you $5 for the replacement, so that money in their pocket.

Thank you, antiochasylum, jdidtht & itzsmokey! I really never had anything go wrong so I never tried to return the phone to test Samsung's KNOX. Thank you so much for setting my concerns at ease! I think it's because of that, I was always afraid to flash and update to a later OS. I've remained on 4.3 because of this misunderstanding.
However, after hearing how the battery life sucks on 4.4.2 in the T-Mobile forums, I will NOT be updating my firmware! I never had issues with 4.3 and as the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

best excuse that works for me is that my phone won't charge. and tell them you have tried everything and nothing works. can't troubleshoot broken hardware, so they'll send you another one over night.
I get great battery life on 4.4.2, I get around 4%/hr with normal use. about 10%/hr if I tether to my Playstation or download torrents.

Thanks, that's good to know. However, I get a day and a half with moderate to heavy use on 4.3. At this point, I don't think I'll be convinced to update my firmware because the one thing I do know about 4.4 is that I wouldn't be able to go back if I experience any issues with it.

So I was under the impression that an OTA update required me to confirm yes or no if I wanted it or not. Apparently I was wrong. Sprint decided to push the ICS OTA to my phone last night, my phone which had MIUI on it. The phone is completely bricked, so my alarm didn't go off (Late for work) and now I have to go through the painstaking process of setting up a new phone from scratch. Fun, but annoying because I had JUST gotten my phone to where I was very happy with it. There will be a raging complaint in the sprint store today.
Don't tell them you had custom software on it. No warranty then if they want.

People in the stores have no control over this whatsoever. All you are going to do is ruin the day of one innocent associate.
My question is, if it did this overnight, to where you didn't know it had happened, how can you be sure it was the OTA update? And is it truly completely bricked, or is it soft bricked, and one of sfhubs Odin files could fix it?

When I say "Raging" it's really not that much "raging"...I'm too passive to get worked up about stupid stuff..though when I woke up late for work I was full beast mode, good thing the sprint guys don't live at my house, also clearly not the guy at the stores fault.
All I can get is a blue light. No recovery. No Odin mode. No boot logo. My computer doesn't see it. It shows all the symptoms of a hard brick.
I assume it was the OTA because it came out yesterday. What are the odds my phone bricks by itself, for some random other reason, the very same day they pushed the OTA? I went to bed with the phone working fine. Woke up to a BLOD. My most reasonable conclusion is...OTA...
Is this even possible ?

I have insurance on it. I am sure though all I have to say is it bricked after the OTA... and thirdly I know a guy at this store at the tech/repair desk, he knows i'm rooted, is totally cool with it, and will replace it no problem.
I've never seen a pushed OTA without assent from the user.

Unless I sleep-flashed (horrible new symptom of flashaholic disease?) then it had to be that, but i'm open to alternative ideas. Like I said, went to bed working fine, woke up BLOD. Unless the phone got a random reboot in the middle of the night and decided to brick itself...?
EDIT: If anyone who is way smarter with me when it comes to these phones has an alternative theory that's why I posted the thread really in the first place...
the update would've failed if you weren't on stock touchwiz.

AOSP roms dont get OTA updates so it couldnt be sprints fault
Which is why I delete all sprint apps and bloat ware. But if you have insurance, look at the bright side, newer phone. And as for the comment above about not telling them about custom firmware, i wouldn't offer the information, but if they find out there is nothing they can do. In fact Sprint headquarters released a memo stating to treat all rooted devices like any other customer's device. Its your property. If you want to root it, blow it up or smash it with a hammer, that's your right.

If there was an error in the particular build or even when he flashed the phone it *MIGHT* have caused it to push through. And since its aosp and not supposed to do that, I could see where it could potentially happen. I still am not sure that's it, but it could be possible.

While true that it is your property, it is their right to state conditions of insurance and hold you to those conditions.
WIth a hard bricked phone they can't tell if it was rooted though. Any other issue and just flash back to stock and uninstall super user before taking it in.

As others have stated, OTA would have FAILED. I havent heard of ANYONE getting the OTA pushed to their phones yet anyway. Your phone bricked for some other reason. How would you know it was the OTA that bricked it anyhow if you were sleep? Lol WTF

It started coming out yesterday but is on an 8 day roll out schedule so there's really no way to determine if it did hit your phone yesterday, also as others have stated if you weren't on stock it would've failed anyway.

Power surge?
Sent from behind you.
Is it common for devices like these to have absolutely no factory image available nearly a week after the release? Does anyone else think that this is weird? I mean all of our ROMs are based on Nandroid backups. I'm a little nervous that if I really botch something, I won't have a real image to flash. I also want to start cooking my own ROM but I don't want to just nandroid and then iron it out.
So how long does it usually take for a factory image to drop? I paid full price for it and am thinking about taking it back and just getting an international version. The dev support is already pretty weak over here, I'm just afraid I won't be able to get WiFi calling which is pretty crucial to me at home
Good point. There are deodexed and a modified ROMs with kitchen, but no Stock or stock rooted ROMs that can be ODIN'd yet. This is how I got going on the S III and how I got back to basically stock after a bad flash.
I don't know the process, but I agree that having these - especially the full stock - is very important. Hope someone gets them up soon
I think more developers will show up as they get their hands on this. Its still pretty new to everyone. We need that MULTIVIEW

I highly recommend everyone in this thread blow them up, this is ridiculous. We can't even restore our phones in the case of a problem. Even an iPhone can do that.

Sometimes that doesn't always do the trick. The point is WE DO NOT HAVE SOFTWARE FROM THE VENDOR. That's absolutely ridiculous when you think about it. Even the locked down iPhone allows you to do a full restore from software in case "You are having problems with your iPhone" in addition to having a factory reset option on the phone itself. Every Dell computer has a recovery partition or CD. There's absolutely no reason we shouldn't have this, none. I honestly think they might have just forgotten or something.
Anyway retweet the **** out of this plz:

Samsung has essentially indicated that they have no intention of releasing a factory image for this device. So I guess now it's time to blow up Phandroid and /r/android with this.

It's like someone not realizing they're on the other side of the world when it clearly shows they're not where they should be. . WOW!!! Another one which turn his phones into a POS and then find the right place. If you can search, which i believe dont... search for jtag, If not, go to the next office and sell it as the most expensive paperweight. Good luck selling it.

Really! Another brick from flashing something that's not for our phone? You're pretty much out of luck. Call sprint or asurion and pay for a replacement.

Ok guys, now that we got that out of our system, let's help the OP.
In my opinion, you have two options:
JTAG Repair ($60): This is a place you can send your phone to and the will do a JTAG repair. Since you cannot get into download or recovery modes, this is the only thing you can do to fix your phone. It typically takes about a week to 1.5 weeks to get your phone back.
Sprint TEP ($150 Deductible): You can only do this if you've been paying the monthly cost for the TEP service through Asurion. The TEP service covers a total loss of the phone, which is basically what you have. Obviously, this is more costly than the JTAG repair, but the biggest plus is that they send you the "new" (read: refurbished) phone within a day or two. So if time is a major concern, paying the $150 deductible might be the best.
thanks for all the help guys ...
I did a google search for rooting got that done then searched rome and that's what got me to the international rom.
now i have the sprint section bookmarked.
I've had sprint insurance for years so i'm paying and they are sending me another one.
now what is a good rom to use that has a good music player without the volume limiter ?
Since i have the bricking out of the way, why not try to root and do a nice custom rom..
I recommend this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38172219 you can find tons of information and a list of all roms by TW or AOSP.
My personal choice is TPR The People's ROM

JTAG is cheaper than a $150 deductible and you don't have to worry about getting a used device.

I know I'm going against popular opinion on this, but when I first got the S3 (a few months after launch), I didn't know what the difference between i9300 and d2spr were. I was looking for CM10 and when I went to CyanogenMod, the only Galaxy S3 Roms I could find were i9300 ones (now they have different sections for the carriers, but I distinctly remember them not having that back then). I don't even remember being able to find the Sprint GS3 forums until a few weeks later. The only thing that kept me from bricking my phone was my general anxiety about messing it up. I read and read and learned about the potential problems before finally using Odin to root my phone.
I also understand that not everyone will exercise the same level of caution I did. But on some level, I can understand the confusion between the i9300 (which is commonly just called the Galaxy S3, not the "international" GS3) and our phone, the d2spr.

well that's kinda what confused me i thought a s3 was an s3, now i know better. i'm gonna get me replacement and root it and i have a nice rom picked out to try.. then thinking about trying out a note 2.
But when you're a noob to all this stuff it gets a lil confusing the last phone i rooted was an evo 4g and a lot of things are way different.

I've been rooting and installing roms since the g1. Luckily i've never bricked one but it can be very confusing specially if you find the wrong information. There is usually not a disclaimer that say "not for sprint phones". Just make sure you take your time and read, read, read and read some more when you're tired of reading. Even if u're on the sprint section you can still mess up your phone if you dont know what you're doing.
That being said, look for the cleanbean rom on the xda sprint android development forum and you'll find a nice little rom that works for your sprint (d2spr) and has the loudest volume i've experienced.
Just remember, keeeeeep reaaaddiing
Good luck

Probably... But even so I'd wait for a zip from xda devs. If we're like the s4, the update will be a patch that changes your boot loader and you cannot roll back.

If you have any want or need of a warranty claim...then DO NOT install any official 4.3 update until were 100% certain what is in it. If Knox is included then rooting your handset will permanently brick your warranty
It's my understanding that on the s4, the Knox bootloader prevents you from rolling back to previous builds/bootloaders, including older modems. The New update can be rooted, but folks have had issues trying to go back to older versions of android (or custom roms based on an older version) our trying to flash an older modem.
The s4 devs have created a flashable all in one firmware that excludes the Knox bootloader (which is what is believed to cause the issues) and there are tired versions of the stock Rom for those not wanting to be locked into the new build our new modem with the Knox bootloader.
I'm sure they will sort out the issues with it, but I'm sure it will take some time.
I'm holding out on updating my s4 and will do the same with my wife's Note 2 until it's fully understood what the Knox bootloader means for long term development

If you at any point in the life of your phone have installed a custom ROM and tried to use Google wallet it will not work again, that is for the rest of the phone's life. No matter even if you revert to 100% stock unrooted.
Maybe that's what happened

Well That definitely happened, but I highly doubt thats true, there were a lot of roms where wallet was working, in fact it was working on some other custom rom i had sometime ago, stopped about 4-5 months ago.

I never udnerstood something, a tiny percentage of ppl root/flash custom roms etc. What pleasure do these companies derive from locking them out of the phones they paid for it anyways. If its warranty, fine, lock it during warranty period then let it go, anyways they are not coming to the manufacturer to get any service.. so whats the point. Seriously ridiculous how much time and money they spend to lock out a fraction of their user base. which costs them near to nothing.

Knox is Samsung's bid to completely kill off BlackBerry's business. By putting a massive fork in the only thing BB has that no one else really does....device security strong enough for government officials and DoD employees. That is the point of Knox.
Killing people's warranties is an added bonus I think, but wasn't the goal.

Two things I have noticed thus far:
- Auto brightness seems to be a little bit brighter, doesn't go down to lowest level that easily anymore
- I noticed that there is ZRAM now listed under the RAM details of a process. Not sure if that is new or I just haven't noticed that before.
Can anybody with pre-27C check if ZRAM is listed on the RAM details pane of a process? If not, then this is new.

where is this?
I have been using Facebook and it randomly just rebooted twice within two minutes. I'm on 27c. Could it just be Facebook or the new software update? Who knows. But I never have experienced reboots in the past. The first one was annoying. I was responding in length to someone for at least 5 minutes, and it decides it wants to reboot. I lost everything that I had typed out. The phone was not charging but was slightly warm. So I feel like either Facebook or something else may have caused it. I have installed and uninstalled Facebook several times in the past. It's just annoying to try and share things without having the native app installed.

Alright, I uninstalled Facebook. I go to Facebook on chrome and less than one minute, the bottom half of the screen decides to go all blurry and pixelated. The phone reboots. Has anyone else experienced similar things or is this a first sign that my phone is slowly going to keep getting worse until it starts boot looping?

I think you got a bootloop coming. Probably the heat generated by installing the update has caused it. Happened to me last time when i installed 26A as well, few days later it started acting up and then bootlooped.

Nothing really. Backup your data and be prepared for the inevitable to happen.
I guess I'm gonna be looking to go to T-Mobile so I can get them to pay off my phone. I owe $425 to Verizon for another year. If I buy a phone from them and switch to them, I can get rid of this phone. Last year, I got an iPhone 6plus on payments. 6 months later I sold it for $500 and bought this brand new G4 on Swappa for $300. But I'm still obligated to make the payments to Verizon for the cost of the iPhone.

Pretty sure they require you to turn in the actual phone on the payment plan to pay it off. Since you don't have the phone anymore, that may be an issue.

That's not the case. If you look at T-Mobile's website it says otherwise. You send in the phone to T-Mobile, not Verizon when you switch.

I've thoroughly researched this issue and talked with two different people from Verizon support on whether or not you can switch phones while under a payment plan without having to turn in the original phone. The payments aren't tied to the phone, only the phone line.
