What you'll need:
1: USB drivers---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500669
2: SuperOneClick v2.3.3.0 byshortfuse)
Connect your phone to your computer and run SuperOneClick. It should read "Successful" and then reboot your phone. I went straight to the appstore and downloaded BusyBox, SuperSU, ES File Explorer, and Titanium Backup but the SuperSU is your choice. If you do not grab the SuperSU then go ahead & update SuperUser. If you want to use SuperSU then give it SuperUser permission first. Open your ES file explorer and uninstall the SuperUser. This is a Sprint Kyocera Milano C5120 with 2.3.4 firmware loaded on it. So far I have not found a recovery that will work with this but it has one already there, you can find it by holding the volume down button and power before boot. These are just my findings that worked for me and I am not taking responsibility for your phone if anything happens to it, but mine was easy and painless. This will at least allow you to get rid of the preloaded apps on your phone.

This does not work. In march of 2012 an update was sent OTA to the Milano preventing zergrush and the other method Superoneclick uses from working.
Not sure if you have a very old phone or what but on any Milano purchased or updated after march 2012 SuperOneClick WILL NOT work.
I have been scouring Google for hours and have yet to find any way to root a Kyocera Milano that has been updated to prevent rooting exploits.
I'm guessing my phone was purchased in April or May of 2012 from Krogers and it probably sat on their shelf for a few months. Whatever the case, I'm sorry that you cannot root your phone as of now and if I run across something, I will share it with you.

I just got my phone from Ting a couple weeks ago and rooted it yesterday.
Unfortunately I can't directly post Outside links (Not at 10 posts yet, and have no idea what else to post about other than this at the moment, which requires a link (For Credit Due Purposes) and I know it will be helpful to people that were as desperate as me for something that was starting to seem rather impossible and no one was paying that much attention to it.), but this is important enough that I'll try to just chop it up - You'll just have to put it back together to go to that site.
This works:
androidforums
.com/milano-all-things
-root/709963-no
-pc-root-method
.html
Not sure why the guide says "Enable usb debugging in Settings, Applications, Development" since you never use the PC, I enabled it anyway, and also enabled to install third party apps, or else Poot won't install, not sure why that isn't on the guide. (Maybe they got mixed up?)
A few things you might want to know:
After hours I finally found the solution. But the terminal still doesn't work for uninstalling ("pm uninstall com.google.android.books.apk" = Failure), you have to do everything though your phone (I'm using the app "RootAppDelete"). The phone roots itself with a third party app called "Poot" using libraries from "Ministro 2"
Before doing this you're gonna need something like 25MBs of storage or so (Can delete everything afterwards with the exception of SuperUser (Can't delete that) to get the space back (Also, you need a app to actually use root actions). - The "Ministro 2" packages are huge for this phone's tiny internal storage! 11MB around)
Make sure to install anything small first and anything big right before the phone gets over 15MB full, because at that time you can't install anything else, with low memory errors.
Another thing that might have helped me when I did this is - back when I couldn't root I made all apps default install to the phone with the android sdk platform-tools (I didn't want to risk anything so I moved Poot, Ministro 2 and SuperUser back to the phone before running Poot. since they default installed to the SD)
"adb shell"
"pm SetInstallLocation 2"
Know its been said elsewhere, but this works with the Milano. Wanted to say that in case you needed the space to use Poot.
And the last problem is after I did all this, now my headphone jack wants to think it has headphones plugged in all the time, If I move the phone around it starts playing on the phone's speaker. It seems like something is lose. Not sure if that was caused by the root (since it wasn't doing it before, and I've never used the headphone jack before) or because there was lose hardware, not sure. Still working on a solution to that, which I found
something similar here, almost looks like a common problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817872
I would put my proof of doing this have a screen shot of root checker, but alas its an outside link. Understand though.
And as I've read a million times before this, here's a disclaimer: I'm not responsible and use at your own risk.
Hi guys, I have a sprint note 2 gsm modded and it's extremely annoying that hands free activation pops up every time the phone boots up and shuts itself down(stupid) if I didn't cancel it in time. What is the apk under /system/app that is in charge of this? I'm running kitkat 4.4.2 ne2 stock rom.
Also, I used CF-Auto-Root-t0ltespr-t0ltespr-sphl900 to root my kitkat 4.4.2 ne2 stock rom and like many other people I lost root on reboot every time and have to go to es file explorer to reinstall superuser.apk to regain root. Is there a fix now for that too?
thanks :highfive:

I fixed the root problem by following the instructions of ginkang in the following page
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1842022-Root-S-Note2-4-4-2-Kitkat
quote his words:
"
Thank you! Done rooting 4.4.2. Took me about 30min.
I had a problem with SuperSu but reinstalled it and works fine now.
If anybody needs how to root 4.4.2 KitKat:
First, download SuperSu2.0 apk file and transfer to your SD card folder (will come back to this later)
Go to: http://autoroot.chainfire.eu and look for tmobile t889. **You will not find Wind t889v
Use Odin (follow the web instructions)
After that you will just follow the directions and done rooting.
BUT after reboot your phone, you will get "Unfortunately SuperSU has stopped" message.
To solve this,
Use file manager, go to SD card and look for superSU file you transferred earlier and install.
After you get the full access, go to SuperSU and go Settings -> Reinstall.
Then reboot and install SuperSU from Google Play. Everything has been good since then.
Thanks to Will888, kkgiyer, uscpsycho.
Have fun rooting. After installing the SD card access fix apk file , I could use 3rd party apps to access and delete
"
ok, i fixed hands free activation issue by removing system update using titanium backup, everything is good now.
Was looking through the forums and seeing all these complicated instructions on how to root your optimus v device and decided to post this for the not so tech savvy users. Note rooting has its dangers such as bricking and voiding warranties wich i am NOT responsible for. You proceed at your own risk. Please read COMPLETELY BEFORE ATTEMPTING ROOT.
Heres what youll need. An internet connection, your phone, and its web browser. Thats it, no computer, cables, etc, etc.
First go to settings > security and check unknown source. Then open the phones browser and search for stumproot.apk download and install it from a trusted source. (I believe theirs links floating around on here somewhere if your dead set on finding one thats trusted by others) once installed open the app and press the grind button. You will most likely get a popup saying your device isnt natively supported. Just press the force root button. Your phone should be restarted after its done.
Once your phone starts back up go to the playstore and download supersu by chainsfire. Open it and you will be prompted to update. Press the normal update button and wait for it to update, in the mean time go ahead and get some root tools from the playstore. I reccomend root browser, and a backup tool such as titanium backup. Also grab rootchecker as this is how we will verify root.
Once supersu updates restart the phone again. (Reccomended by supersu's distributer) then open your root checker. You should get a popup asking you to grant rootchecker root access. If you get the popup congratulations you have rooted your device.
After this delete stumproot from your device. (Again reccomended by apps distributer) and set up your back up.you can find several guides on this topic depending on your chosen backup manager. Remember some managers can flash roms and/or do other actions that could brick the phone if not done properly so make sure to read any/all instructions carefully.
This method has been personally tested and confirmed on my optimus. Lg ls720ZV8. this can be checked on your phones settings > phone information/about phone > software information > software version if your not sure what yours is.
Note tho my device runs on virgin mobile this method should work on a wide veriety of optimus devices and carriers.
All due credit to makers and distributers of aformentioned apps.

I've wanted to test out remix OS for a while. However I use xposed and su regular. It's all about customization for me. However once I installed remix I found it wasn't rooted. I searched around for a solution but people kept saying it was rooted? So after I broke my n9 trying to flash standard root, a quick Google revealed that for pc versions it involves Linux commands to mount and edit the system files. So I'm far to lazy for that. But I thought ill make this little guide on how to get root and xposed working systemlessly on your remixed N9
Although this is mainly for N9 there should be no reason why you can't follow this guide for your pad. HAVING SAID THAT: "Although this may have worked for me or others I am not responsible for the death, destruction, boot loop or spontaneous combustion (or anything else) of your device. Follow this at your own risk"
Things your going to need! (For root)
Remix Os Installed
Twrp Installed (newest)
systemless Root zip
I'm not going to explain how to install remix OS as that's easy enough and it's available on their website here same with TWRP Guide to install that is here
Grab Systemless root.
boot into recovery
Flashy flash flash
Wipe for good luck
reboot system!
TA-DAA (hopefully)
That's that bit done :silly: Now if that's all you want then awesome! Maybe give me a thanks :good:
But before we continue if your like me and not a fan of that standard Launcher 3. Now we have root let's get rid of it.
Run over to Google play and install a Terminal Emulator. I use Minimal terminal, cos it's pretty
Once Installed, Run over and Grab the launcher of your choice.
Once Installed click open. Then may say something about not supporting it.
Now stick your black hoodie on, Talk to an imaginary friend  and jump on your terminal and type the following commands
Code:
Su
pm disable com.android.launcher3
click the home button and nova launcher (in my case) should be sitting there ready for you.
But I like my Icons! I WANT MORE CUSTOMISATION, at the moment I have a way of doing it. ONLY ITS VERY TEDIOUS.
Things your going to need
icon pack of your choice
root browser of your choice
apk editor
Go into your icon pack folder should be I'm data/app/com.iconpack/
open the apk, dive into the apk and find the icons. it's normally in the .apk/res/drawable-nodpi-v4
extract all or just the icons you want
once you've done so jump into apk editor and go through to the app you want to edit in apk editor app
search for the icons. normally in the res/drawable-xxhdpi-v4 or similar folder there might be a few icons to change in the separate drawable-hdpi folders.
click the edit button to the right of the icon, add your icon.
click the save at the bottom
uninstall the app and reinstall through the apk editor.
job done
I'm fully aware this is a lot of faf. But it's only way I can do it at the moment.
Regardless let us move forward!
Things your going to need! (Xposed)
Magisk Manager
Material Xposed apk
Download Material Xposed apk First (link above). And install first!
Download the Magisk manager from this forum here and follow the simple instructions to install
Install Xposed in Magisk Manager's Download section the 23SDK Is the one you want to download.
it should install the zip and want to reboot your device.
you should be done now. You should have a rooted and xposed Remix OS
I hope I helped someone, I couldn't find anything like this that helped me. I just saw alot of unanswered questions. So far I'm liking remix os alot. It's smooth and quick. Once I grab a Bluetooth keyboard I imagine it be even better. Whether or not it be a replacement for a laptop I don't know. However if all your really do on a laptop is write documents, play small games and browse Internet. Then it's pretty much perfect. I found that (although a little sketchy) I managed to do web development on this. So it's a very versatile OS.
If I helped give us a thanks. If I'm an idiot and this is somewhere else, then start throwing things.
:good::silly:
Help! I've soft bricked my Device
Don't panic! Relax. Grab a tea or whatever you drink. And just go back to the remix os how to flash link and do that. It should sort it out for you.
I recently successfully rooted an S7 Active with the process outlined in this forum. I installed Xposed framework succesfully as well, but now I need to undo the process safely. From what I understand, SuperSu can be used to unroot, but how can I remove Xposed safely? I am a relative novice so detailed guidance is greatly appreciated, thanks!
You need to follow the procedure outlined in the root guide, minus the part where you flash the engineering boot (unlockg891aboot.tar).
So basically, just download the password protected PI2 firmware that NotSoMiniGun has kindly provided, extract it and use the modified Odin to flash all the individual parts within in their relevant spaces ( BL, AP, CP, CSC) + the PIT file.
This will take you back to stock PI2 and a wiped phone. Then just clean up any remnant files you have on your SD card etc.
Why are you going back to unrooted out of curiosity?

Thanks bandario, seems straightforward, I will try this in a few hours. I rooted to give myself a few additional capabilities and hastily installed Xposed framework as well, only to find out some things I needed the device for were disabled when Xposed is installed. Basically, it ended up creating more issues than it helped me with. I would rather just return the device to stock. This is somewhat unfamiliar territory for me though, so I did not want to try anything that would fail to remove Xposed and/or brick the phone. I will be back if I have any issues.

Anything specific that wouldn't work with xposed apart from snapchat (which must be installed before you install xposed)?
There are workarounds for most lock-outs. My phone doesn't even say 'custom' on the boot screen.

Yes, I figured there were workarounds for most of the issues, but I get in over my head trying to figure things out on my own.
My two main issues were Pokemon Go, which from what I understand cannot pass safetynet with Xposed installed, and my GearFit 2 watch also failed to work with rooted device even after reset. Not sure what the source of that issue is. About to attempt to restore.

Firstly, I have a gearfit 2 and a massive amount of xposed modules and it works fine (apart from using a lot of phone battery but that happened before I rooted).
Second, there appears to be 2 solutions for playing pokemon go with xposed and root.
1) http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/09/11/guide-play-pokemon-go-0-37-rooted-android-magisk/
2) HIDE SU and SNORLAX -

I don't play pokemon so can't comment any further on this one except to say, people have got it working.

Thanks for the help! The GearFit issue is probably just the watch being difficult, I have had problems with it before... I actually found that first link right after we began this discussion but I do not follow it... It asks the user to unroot via supersu, but then "make root systemless" using either custom recovery (which S7 Active does not yet have) or flashing. I will attach directions below, do these steps make logical sense using an Active S7?
""1 Re-flash custom or restore your System or you can uninstall Xposed, modules & everything.
2 Remove root (obviously skip this step if your not rooted) – Simply go into the supersu app and remove from there. (How to unroot Android devices)
3. Now to make Root Systemless,
If you’re using TWRP, use the terminal in advanced settings and type the following: echo “SYSTEMLESS=true” > /data/.supersu –
OR You can use your favourite file explorer and create a file named .supersu at: /data/.supersu and simply write in the following line: SYSTEMLESS=true
4 Flash SuperSU 2.78, which will be flashed in Systemless mode as per the config file we created in the previous step.
5 Flash Systemless Xposed 86.2 (this version does not depend on Magisk, therefore Magisk does not need to be installed at all).
6 Flash SUhide (It hides Root from particular app rather then turning off root globally)"
So far I have successfully removed Xposed via their uninstaller (http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/uninstaller/) and have currently left the phone rooted.
Follow steps on this post. Simplest, Easiest and Safest way to UNROOT your S7 Active.
