So i basically want to run emulators on a device like this or the ouya. Which one would be better?
I keep hearing the ouya is easier, but the Fire Tv is better spec wise

Definitely the fire TV it plays any emulator I've tried except dolphin but I don't think any android device can play that. Hopefully since we now have root someone can get the ouya launcher working on here so that would be another plus.

The OUYA drove me crazy trying to use it so I mailed it to a developer, not long afterwards CM11 was released for it but oh well. Anyways if you want it for emulators this may be interesting, don't know if it could work on Fire TV or not.

When will the Netflix app for the galaxy nexus support HD streaming? This would common sense since the.nexus has an HD screen.
Thanks

Well, there was a Netflix apk floating around (search is your friend) from the Droid Razr, however the app doesn't seem to play nice with 4.0.3+ at the moment. If you are running a 4.0.2 rom or lower, you can use that. Otherwise, we have to wait for someone to mod the HD apk to work with 4.0.3+ ROMs or for Netflix to update their own app. Also, the Droid RAZR apk doesn't go full screen either.
Netflix doesn't seem very high definition even when streamed over wifi on my laptop or monitor. You're not missing much.

lol HD video on a mobile phone why?? Average 720p is about 2-3gb no thanks waste of bandwidth. You won't see all those details anyway unless you're a show off ....

Because some of us have unlimited data plans still, and IMHO HD videos on this phone actually DO look really solid, depending on the source of course. Then again, I'm also just a huge show off
i'm not sure what you mean, mattskeet. watching youtube on HD vs SD is apples and oranges on the nexus. I could happily watch a 90 minute HD movie on nexus screen
Netflix and gameloft have crappy methods of showing support rather then just throwing the APK out there in the market.

Netflix has the potential to have great image quality. My Apple TVs and PS3s allow for 1080p video and 5.1 audio.
Netflix only allows HD on devices with locked boot loaders afaik. Nook tablet has HD as well.

If that's true, I can't imagine why they would do that.

netflix's hd quality is amazing on my computer too, if its bad quality its cause the connection is too slow. you need about 15-20mb/s to get the best quality.
is there any update on this? just saw the new netflix on the play store but it still doesnt have 702p. does the hacked apk work for 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 yet?

That is not true, there is zero difference in Netflix quality on a GN with a locked bootloader vs. and unlocked one.

This is also not true, you don't need anywhere near that bandwidth to get great quality.
You need 8Mbps for 1080p video with 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus audio.
Regardless, I get 25Mbps on my home connection and my phone, Apple TV, and PS3s are all connected to the same network, so that rules out network conditions.
I remember reading somewhere that it is a software limitation and the Razr got a special version to showcase the HDMI 720p streaming out on the device.
When I had my RAZR HD Netflix looked amazing. You can see so many details especially facial details. Skintone, facial stubble etc. Would be nice to have on the Nexus since it has a HD display. GG unlimited data .

I don't know when but I don't think it's anytime soon. If I had to guess I'd say September and I'm only saying September because that is also when the wireless charging back cover is supposed to be released.

Hi,
I am looking for a game to play on Nexus 7.
A starcraft like strategy game with offline mode (no server connection), and also possibility of multiplayer over LAN or internet would be great.
Any ideas of such Android game ?
Thanks.

Can't find it from the Play Store, and the official website doesn't say it support Android.
As far I know Gameloft has in their site

thanks.
this was really what I'm looking for.
Starfront is just like Starcraft and it works great on N7.
Now I wonder if I could make it run on Acer Iconia A100 because I have that tablet as well and it would be nice to play multğplayer on LAN.
Strike fleet omega is kinda like star craft. Check it out

N64oid does not support dual link (neither does the original n64 as a matter of fact). You need to link wiimotes or ps3 controllers to your phone and hook it up to the tv via mhl adapter. Then you can have the multilayer you're looking for.

I bought the mhl adapter and there's a slight delay from the phone to the screen that makes playing games difficult....any way to fix this do it is instantaneous? Maybe it's because i have the old adapter with the pin converter that causes the delay..... Do you experience a delay?

What kind of controller did you use? I'm having a hard time finding one, keeping reading about having to install drivers?
Anyways if this works then I don't get all the hype about ouya.

I have only tried a PS3 controller, which worked fine in my experience. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscompatibilitychecker <-- you do need an app to get it working (that is just the checker you would actually need the paid app). I am sure there are other controllers, but since I already owned a PS3 so I haven't really shopped around.
What is the hype about the Ouya? It is inexpensive. Not everyone has a smartphone or a tablet. Even fewer have one that can manage HDMI out. A lot of the ones that do, are more expensive than the Ouya, especially when you also factor in the higher end internal specs of the Ouya. Also you would have to consider the price of docks, cables, and a controller into this price.
