How to convert Chinese Xperia T2 Ultra Dualsim XM50H to a D5322 :) - Sony Xperia T2 Ultra

Hello,
perhaps other also bought a Chinese Xperia t2 Ultra Dual (Model XM50H). I bought mine last week in Beijing (2480 CNY with an additional 16GB MicroSD card) . It was a branded China Unicom Model.
That model comes with Software for Baidu but not with any Google Software. Language can be switched - but some dialogs still remain in Chinese - not really a problem but the main problem was it was not possible to install the Google Playstore. Installing the apk works - but the playstore does not open (perhaps other Google Software will be needed ...)
My solution was to go a different way - I unlocked the bootloader via Sony - installed the Clockworks Recovery and then tried first to install the Ultimate Rom V2 but got a boot loop I searched around the net and found the #GeekPakistan Website. They had an blog entry how to update the T2 ...
BTW - the Sony PC Companion showed my XM50h as D5322 and so I changed my plan and decided to flash the Australian stock rom ...
That worked like a charm and now I have a unbranded T2 Ultra Dual with all the Google stuff.
unfortunately I am not able to post external links here (not enough postes yet - so just search for Download 19.0.D.0.253 Android 4.3 Firmware ftf for Sony Xperia T2 Ultra on Google and you will find #GeekPakistans website - he has the links to flashtool an the australian rom in his post
Install Flashtool, put the T2 Firmware file into the firmware folder under the flashtool folder.
Start Flashtool64 as administrator on (Windows 7/8/8.1 x64 version)
Connect to phone in flash mode
connect your phone
power it on and hold down volume down key
select T2 firmware
wait ... the flasher Software prepares the firmware and after a while it start to flash the phone
After a while you should get a flash successful message
Disconnect the phone and power it on
China Unicom Branding is gone - phone starts with Sony and Xperia Logo
Wizard starts after a while with setting up a Google account ...
Remark: that all worked for me - no guarantee that it will work on others ...
Regards
Robert
Update: 2015-08-28: When you lock the bootloader again - you will receive the normal OTA Updates from Sony again ... so my phone is now on 5.0.2 Build 19.3.A.0.472 and I'm waiting for the update to 5.1.1. or 6 ...

I successfully flashed 3 phones xm50h china Unicom with that process. But I would like to know how to update and root in kitkat now any idea ?

Hello,
my way to upgrade was this:
Use Flashtool - select BLU and relock bootloader
Close Flashtool
Reboot phone
start PC Companion
Accept update to Kitkat
Wait until update finish
ok - no root but official Sony 4.4.2 Kitkat update
Best regards
Robert

Successfully upgrade my phone to kitkat but with flashtool.
Another question where do u use your phone ? 3g work on your country ? Because I will use it in france soon.

ok

This is how I have dealt with mine.
For update, download 4.4 ROM FTF and flash it, no need to wipe.
For root, follow this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/t2-ultra/general/root-t2-dual-4-4-t2818887
I have successfully rooted my phone on 4.4 ROM.

Yes 3G is working fine

Many thanks Robert, I have been struggling to Root my T2 Ultra and was kind of concerned to flash the Australian firrmware and brick the phone. After reading your post and comments, it looks the best alternative to get rid of China Unicom and the chinese apps. As you said, worked like a charm...
I'm just sorry to say I purchased mine 2 weeks ago in China for only 1480 CNY, which makes this a real good deal.
Thanks for sharing ...I have already upgraded 2 phones using your suggestion...
Best,
Wlax

Hello,
that's life You've got a very good price! BTW - when you lock the boot loader again - you'll be able to get the official Sony firmware updates - mine is actually running 4.4.3
Battery lifetime is really great - when i compare it with my old Samsung Galaxy S III
Best regards
Robert

Avid Sony fans are in for a special treat, as the company has just released the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) based recovery tool for a number of Xperia devices including Z1, Z1 Compact, Z Ultra, T2 Ultra, T3, M2, and E3 phones to enable users to restore data, flash custom ROMs and boot to multiple ROMs.
Sony has achieved this feat for the first time as no other stock recovery could accomplish these tasks that are synonymous to custom recovery tools like ClockworkMod or TWRP.
The only catch is that your Xperia device's bootloader needs to be unlocked and running the latest stock firmware from Sony.
On the contrary, this tool may not serve much purpose to veteran modders of the Android community as odds are that they would have already installed CWM or TWRP custom recovery on their device.
Interested users may check out the complete step-by-step guide (below) to install the AOSP-based recovery tool on their Xperia device (courtesy SonyMobile):
How to enable and enter recovery mode
Use the Flash tool for Xperia devices to install the latest generic software on your unlocked device.
Use the Flash tool for Xperia devices to install "device name (Open devices)" TA update. For instance, the name of your device could be Xperia T2 Ultra, wherein "device name" should be replaced by the actual name of your Xperia device. Note 1: For Xperia E3, Xperia M2, Xperia T2 Ultra, and Xperia T3, this update also includes a new boot loader.
Once recovery mode is enabled, you can flash a custom recovery image to your device. After doing so, you can enter recovery mode using the following steps:
Turn your device off
At the same time, press the Power button and Volume down until your device vibrates
Quickly release the Power button, but continue holding Volume down
When you see the screen shown in the image below, release Volume down. You have now successfully entered recovery mode

Yes, sadly that's correct. And don't forget about the update to correct the newly introduced bugs....
I hope it will be different this time, but from my experience every first update to a new android version has been buggy on ZL and got an error-fix-update a few month later.

[Q] Downloading older Firmware with Xperifirm

Hi,
I would like to go back to KK on my Z1C. I don't have the latest KK .157 Firmware anywhere. I now saw that Xperifirm does not offer to download that Version anymore for my customization. I usually use the generic DE or UK files. Is there a way to get to those old firmware files through Xperifirm or by some other way?
I could not find a generic .157 DE or UK file. I could use that as well.
Kind regards
Philipp
I wanna know this too.
Xperifirm use official Sony servers to download firmwares. But Sony remove old firmwares from its servers.
But, some old firmwares with a different customization (region/country/operator) could be downloaded with Xperifirm, just sort a list of firmwares by a version.

You are wrong, look to the attached screenshot. You should select D5503 phone model, after that press "Check all" button and then XperiFirm finish to update firmwares list you should sort the list by "Latest Release" field and you will see older firmware. For example, 14.4.A.0.157 is the Android 4.4.4 based firmware.

Yes and no. I agree you can see some 14.4.A.0157 but not for all regions, only for some strange one, which did not release update yet. If you want to have for your own region, like in my case eastern Europe I can only download the latest one
So ...?

The only way to download old firmware I found on sony site xperiafirmware.com/8-firmware/46-sony-xperia-z1-compact-d5503
you can find also diffrrent models as well there
good luck
@oilman67, of course you can download old formwares from different sites, but my answer was about possibility of downloading of old firmwares from official Sony servers with XperiFirm tool.
And as I say later

You could use firmwares for different countries/operators in your country without any problem, just choose your native language. For example, now I use in Russia phone from Japan with a firmware customized for Japan operator NTT DoCoMo.
On xperiablog[dot]net[slash]forum[slash]resources[slash]categories[slash]xperia-z5-compact.95[slash]
you can find some older, but not all

[Q] is there any difference !

hi
Sony T2 Ultra dual
My phone Cda is 1280-3257 android KitKat version 19.1.1.C.0.56 R3B Customized MEA
there's an update to lollipop but it's not R3B it's R5C so if i upgrade it to the new firmware 19.3.A.0.472 R5C that's can make any problem or troubleshoot like wireless dropping, battery life and facing other problem of my phone or that's will be normal for it .
yes there is difference,
which is.... kitkat and lollipop
if in Xperia Firmware Downloader you are pointing correct device model & device region,
for your device's lollipop update, then there is no harm to your device.

How to downgrade Xperia M5 to Lollipop or Kitkat (UK version)

Hi,
I have an Xperia M5 E5603 which is currently build number 30.2.A.0.100 (Marshmallow 6.0) and want to downgrade it to Lollipop 5.1 or Kitkat.
I've used Xperifirm which is showing Latest Firmware build 30.2.A.1.21 - but I'm not sure which version of Android this is?
Can someone please help with the files I need to downgrade UK version? (not central EU, specifically UK)
Thanks!

Thanks! I got the 5.1 Nordic Generic firmware for this particular model and am on the Flashtool download page. I just want to check something so I don't brick the phone:
"C4 and C5 users please do not flash using Flashtool. It will brick the device. M5 users please do use FSC when flashing or it will brick your device."
What does this mean by FSC? Should I use the latest flashtool, are there any additional steps I need to take??
Thanks for the help
