[Q] Bootloader accidentally RELOCKED - Verizon HTC One (M7)

My HTC ONE Verizon I have accidentally relocked and cannot flash a working recovery. S-OFF. It happened by accident while I was using WinDroid universal toolkit and hit relock by mistake, I have CWM recovery on it but I can't wipe and install a ROM without it freezing. I have tried sideloading liquidsmooth but it stalls at startup. Is there a way to get an unlocked bootloader without installing a ROM? Do I need to use an RUU and if so which one?
Thank you very much in advance.

There is a zip from Scotty's thread on how to lock/unlock using recovery or su commands.

since you are s off you can also use my ruu mode compatible trwp in my ruu thread. that will get you a custom recovery and root back. then run the command to unlock from Scotty's thread.

Do you still have an HTC unlock token? If not go to HTC dev and get one.

[Q] Need help relocking after HTC unlock

As stated, like a dummy i used the htc unlock method and really want to correct my mistake. i lost my backup of my stock rom so everytime i relock all i get is the fastboot screen. tried flashing the stock ruu file and i get "main version is newer" or something like that. Could it be the file?
I would just flash to a stock based ROM, and try that.
Im running andybonestock at the moment but i want to relock and unroot, remove Superuser etc.

Use the 2.3.4->2.3.3 downgrade method to reset your hboot version to .97 and then run Revolutionary.
Edit: Or, try flashing a stock recovery .img through an unlocked hboot using fastboot and then reset your data inside the android os. Then try relocking your bootloader. I would do this first. Then do the above.
Sounds like I need to track down a recovery image. I tried downgrading with the bootloader locked and unlocked and got nowhere

Got the RUU to work. Locked the bootloader, left it on the fastboot screen. Plugged it in and let it work its magic. No problems at all.

[Q]Root

Can i apply root using root.zip on stock recovery?
No you have to flash custom recovery to flash root.zip
If you are s-off or bootloader unlocked you can flash recovery via fastboot.
Later if you want to flash stock recovery, just extract it from any generic ruu and flash via fastboot.
was hoping that i can cause i tried almost all method here in installing custom recovery yet everyone of them gets stuck in black screen whith glowing button thanks for the help anyway

yeah sounds lik my friend's problem.got same because s-on.but can install another ruu by this method but dont sure it ll work or not because i tried but e:\ error.
Have u tried flashing from Hboot ??
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S using Tapatalk 2
directly installing a custom recovery & rooting might be possible in most other phones, but u gotta unlock the bootloader on the WFS. U can either switch S-OFF or unlock the bootloader by going to the HTCDEV site & follow the steps there..
hope that helps

I have cwm recovery on my phone with just s off not unlocked bootloader so I imagine its possible. And make sure you use the r8ght one for your phone like cdma or gsm.

[Q] No ROM,S-ON and just working bootloader

Hi there!
I know there are a lots of questions like this but I'm just so stupid. I tryed to flash with Custom ROM with Clockwork recovery while I have S-ON. (My bootloader is "RELOCKED" if that plays some role). Now I'm stuck on the HTC logo. Can you please help me I'm so despered. Thank you.
Best advice runn the RUU to go back to stock, then use the AAHK TO ROOT your phone then you can flash a custom Rom.
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using Tapatalk 2
Thank you for the answer. Yes,but the RUU uses the adb so it doesn't work when there is no OS. I tryed to mount system, cache and data through the clockwork recovery but the error this time is that the RUU can't get information for the battery and the "Charge Only" mode. So that's not the way.
Did you relock the bootloader manually? How did you unlock it, using AAHK or via www.htcdev.com?
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Yes it was relocked using htcdev.com but that was not so important. The bootloader just need to be locked no matter Locked or Relocked. The problem was that I had CWM Recovery installed and when the Bootloader checked every zip (PD98IMG) it was just going back to the menu with no errors. So I flashed an oryginal "Android system recovery (3e)" and the installation began also with no errors.
Ok, so find the right PD98IMG for your device and flash it from bootloader. Doesn't need recovery. You should be able to find links pretty easily in Google. Which country are you from and which carrier?
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
Thank you. I already did it , but my point was that you can't install PD98IMG without the original recovery.

That is wrong. You don´t need recovery to install RUU's. Those are flashed in hboot. If the file isn't working then or the RUU you are using is not the correct for u or the file is not renamed ok. But again RUU's don´t need recovery at all.

[Request]Guide for S-off phone

Hi guys,
I have searched a bit but havent really found a solid guide.
I just brought my gf a HOX, and I checked it was shipped with Ship S-off, CID11111111111, Hboot 1.12
Now when I looked for guides to install CMW, all the method includes unlocking at HTCdev and fastboot.
Now I understand I can skip the fastboot method with S-off, how do I flash CMW and custom roms? Do I just put in the CMW.zip fie into the sd card partition, go to stock recovery and flash it as update.zip?
My previous phones were the Defy (2ndinit method) and the droid razr (bootstrap), how do I get CMW with an S-off HOX?
Thanks all, dont flame me for not searching, I didnt find any obvious method :silly:
You should be able to flash it directly with fastboot using "fastboot flash recovery NameOfFile" command or you use one of the flash tools.
Edit: After installation of cwm you are able to install custom rom via recovery
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
You follow every other guide, just ignoring the bit about HTCDev as you don't need it
Not skip fastboot, just skip unlocking through HTCDev. You just can flash custom recovery via Fastboot, without unlocking youre device.
Edit: Sorry guys I didn't read your above comments.
Wow its that simple? Even if it shows "locked" on the top, I can just ignore that right?
Cool thanks
Yep, as you have S-OFF so already have access to the other partitions

of course it is simple! you don't even need to flash the boot.img every time you install a rom
How much would it cost to get this device s-off?

Hi guys,
I got into fastboot mode, opened up CMD and type: " fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.3.1-endeavoru.img"
Then it tell me
Sending....
Ok
Writing
Failed (remote: not allowed)
Then I tried again
Sending
Failed (remote: 000008)
Am I doing something wrong here? The status is "Locked" but it is S-off
I also tried fastboot oem unlock and it just freezes
Maybe they sold me something that says Ship S-off but its actually S-on?

you have to unlock the bootloader to flash the recovery file... use HTCDev.com to do it

So what's the point s-off then???
You have to do it just once and from there on you can flash boot.img files from sdcard, without the computer. And you can up/downgrade your hboot as much as you like. At least I think it works that way.

If you really wanted to, you could still unlock you bootloader by using the command fastboot oem unlock I believe.

Try that, didnt work.
But I got it figured out after reading some Chinese websites.
Basically fastboot wont work because it is still locked, but S-off means you can flash any RUU.
So I downloaded a RUU flashing tool, then just put the custom recovery.img into the RUU.zip (with nothing else inside but the android.txt file) and flashed it.
Now I have CMW and I can flash anything without having to fastboot boot.img
IF your phone is S-OFF you don't have to unlock the bootloader, you can just flash things 'out the box'. Follow guides as if you've already unlocked the bootloader

So if someone wants to install the JB firmware.zip and have a CID of 11111111, should they change their CID to a compatible one or can they just add 11111111 to the androidinfo.txt and then flash it and it'll ignore the broken signature?
What if they need to flash a boot.img seperately (a repack for example), can they do this using fastboot without unlocking it?

[Q] Unlock an S-Off phone without losing data

Hi all, I'm sorry to ask this question again, but after a lot of checking I can't figure this out.
I have Android 2.3.5 (3.12.405.x), the phone is S-Off with bootloader 2.00.0029, and locked. I need to unlock it so I can flash a recovery and then root the thing to use Titanium backup to restore data to another phone.
The HTCdev method wipes all the data, right?

If you are s-off you can just flash a custom recovery directly. No need to unlock the bootloader.

You got those error because remote flash only allowed on unlocked and engineering bootloader.
You need to use hboot patch to install custom recovery by putting that zip files in the root of your sdcard. Reboot to bootloader and it will ask for a prompt to update. I am not sure whether this method still applicable to new bootloader (2.00.0029).

Hmmm. It's hard to find the right information for newer hboot.
I'm creating a pd98.zip now with a custom recovery. I'll update on how it goes.
