Xperia ZL, NFC and Google Wallet - Sony Xperia ZL

While we're all waiting for .233, has anyone found the NFC functionality of Google Wallet working on the ZL?
Android 4.4 was suppose to forgo the use of the Secure Element in favor of a cloud-based approach (link), but even with a carrier unlocked ZL on 4.4 I don't seem to have the click-and-pay functionality.
Can anyone share some knowledge on this?

I had the same question and can't find the setting for Tap and pay on my ZL 6506. :-/

[Q] I have a sim free GN in UK, is it possible to get Google Wallet on it?

Hi there,
Does anyone know if there is a working APK for ICS/GN out there? I really want to get Wallet prepaid working on my Nexus with all its NFC payment goodness.
Thanks
S
Google wallet only works in the US anyway.. but AFAIK there's no ICS version yet (although someone did report getting the old version working on the Nexus S ICS port).
It will work fine in UK, there is a prepaid option using Google Virtual cards that works on any touch pay terminal, including UK ones.

i think he means that your Google account will simply not allow you to use Google Wallet because you are geographically outside of the US.
Google say otherwise...
"Please note that this service is only available on eligible phones to users in the US."
That's why even on a Nexus S you can't install google wallet from the market.

[APP] Google Wallet On Xperia S

I was just messing around with my Xperia S as we all do, especially with the new Jelly bean Update from Sony out. I was curious to whether I could get any NFC payments working on my phone and I found that a user had been able to get Google wallet working on the Xperia Z forum (Running Jelly Bean). I thought since we just received the new update we might be able to do exactly the same as with the Xperia Z and I followed the steps he described in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2203482
I have subsequently been able to get Google wallet to successfully set up on my Xperia S.
The only step that was different to the Xperia Z way was when editing the Build.Prop you have to add the ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus as a extra line above ro.product.name=yakju because we don't currently have that as a line in the stock build.prop
so it ends up looking like this in the build.prop:
ro.product.brand=SEMC
ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus
ro.product.name=yakju
ro.product.device=maguro
ro.build.tags=release-keys
I have been able to set up the wallet fully, but seeing as though I live in the UK I have no idea if it will actually work because Google wallet annoyingly isn't supported over here :'( Just wanted to share what I managed to do with you guys and to see if you can actually pay for goods this way?
I don't take any credit for this other than being curious to whether or not it would work and trying it out...Just follow all the steps provided in g35mt thread above and the steps I mentioned.
Obviously if you don't know what you doing don't do this as you might end up screwing your device over if you do it wrong and I am not responsible for that.

From a discussion with Google wallet Tech no, only the US

Google Wallet working on Xperia S running DooMLoRD pre-rooted 6.2.B.0.211 (J
I have got the app working on my Xperia S running DooMLoRD pre-rooted 6.2.B.0.211 (Jelly Bean Rom) Android 4.1.2 in New Zealand and I have my kiwibank visa debit card loaded onto it (which is a new zealand visa debit card). I went into countdown (a supermarket if your not in new zealand which supports contactless payments) . I put my phone up the the terminal and my phone vibrates and says processing the eftpos machine says processing then my phone and the machine say declined. Not because i am poor . Then the eftpos machine says please contact your bank.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
does the card loaded onto my google wallet account have to support contactless payment?
my speculation is that kiwibank dont support visa paywave only mastercard paypass and i dont have a mastercard paypass card, so i am thinking that i might need to enable contactless payment with my bank account.
Hi yeah it's got nothing to do with your card it's because you don't live in the US and Gwallet doesn't work outside the US at this point in time.

[Q] Full NFC functionality possible now its rooted?

The watch has a full hardware NFC capabilities, an NFC controller etc, but Sony limited functionality to presenting itself as a tab to pair to the Sony app.
Now that the watch is rooted and we have Wear 5.0.1 upwards, can I please ask is it possible, or what is required, for apps to access full NFC functionality (incl Beam and HCE) if its been rooted and updated to latest Wear?
Any help appreciated!

Ranf,
Yes I had read that blog which was written before Root was available. The author wrote again on the same blog and I have tried emailing him.
I'm not a developer/coder btw.
Am I correct that even with Root and the latest Wear, a developer would still need to write a custom ROM to allow full access to the NFC functionality?
Is there much involved to achieve this as NFC is baked into latest Wear right? I'm interested to see if someone can make the watch operate in Reader Mode and whether thats a hard task..

Daydream Compatibility

Ok so I got this phone expecting to be able to install and run daydream apps and games. Looking on the play store aside from the official daydream app none of the other apps appear to be compatible. I could understand if some developers put device/screen restrictions on their apps but I don't see every app being that way. Is there something I'm missing or some change I need to make for the daydream compatibility?
** side note I just double checked and the official daydream app by google says incompatible device as well.

Ok so looking a little closer at the matter it appears as if Google is "automatically" giving daydream certification to most phones without LCD screens. As far as I can tell, however, the IPS screen in the G7 meets all of google's requirements. I wonder if they haven't gotten around to certifying the G7 or if they are hands down declining cert for any phone with an LCD screen. On that note does anyone know of a way without root to get daydream working on "incompatible" phones without root. I have to admit I enjoy root, but with all the manufacturers working to lock down their devices I'm trying to move away from root for the features I'm looking for. Unfortunately that means upgrading my phone more often, but alas that is the goal of the manufacturers.
I've been looking as well. Powerful phone but no good vr app?
I'm stumped on what to do. I tried to return my lg g7 thinq for the Galaxy because I am finding the Galaxy is being excepted with compatible software and yhe lg is getting passed by.

NFC and google play

Hi all , I'm evaluating this phone as new toy, but I would like to know if NFC works also with custom rom. I've seen on other forums people saying that with a bootloader unlocked the NFC part does not work with google play store. Is it true?
