So I was running on stock, rooted rom. Everything was working well. But I wanted to get rid of the Korean apps.
soI flashed a stock based rom found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2462453
Flashing was successful, but my phone no longer reads my sim.
So I went back to stock by following the guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
Again it was successful but my phone does not read my sim anymore.
I tried different working sim, same problem
Tried reflashing. same thing.
Also I noticed it does not show my phone IMEI under phone identity.
Can anyone help me how to fix this, or point me to a guide I could follow?

Any luck in fixing this problem? I'm having the same issue after trying to install Update v5 with Knock On. I tried installing the basebands but most of them will give Service Disabled with Unknown IMEI. But the E988_HK_Final baseband shows the IMEI and Phone Number but has No Service though or very weak signal. Also, it seems like the QRemote also stops working in my case.
Please flash LG F240L Rom (KDZ File), It will work,

It looks like your EFS partition is corrupted. Did you back it up through Freegee before installing the custom ROM?

I had this happen to me with an e980 out of the box. I ordered it online, and was in the process of adding my apps and customization without ever rooting it or doing anything outside of warranty and all of a sudden I got "Insert a valid sim card". Just happened out of the blue and I only had that phone for 12 hours. It is some rare hardware issue that AT&T couldn't figure out either. I believe it is the sim slot that is malfunctioning because in mine it wouldn't recognize any sim card but my sim cards worked in other phones.
If you have a contract phone, undo root, flash the stock rom, factory reset and call tech support. They replaced mine for free because it was determined to be a hardware issue. Good luck.:silly:
Two days ago i bought Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 (international). It had android 4.1.2 but i saw there is available update. After update to official android 4.3 my phone lost signal and started showing me "Not registered on network". 1 day passed since i am searching how to fix this thing. Tried custom rom (4.4.2) and still the same. I went back to official 4.3 for UK O2 , successfully rooted it, passed knox, installed busybox, installed ARIZA Patch. Still the same. Tried to flash MJ5 bootloader via ODIN but it shows me FAIL. And after every FAIL my phone is bricked so i am flashing all over again official ROM. I have NO backups of my EFS (in my search i saw that i need some EFS to repair this thing). I got no issue with WI-FI but only with network. If i revert back to stock android 4.1.2 will i be able to call somebody? If the answer is "YES", would somebody tell me how? I saw in some threads that with new 4.3 ROM note 2 got knox locked bootloader which is impossible to be downgraded. Please, give me guide step by step what to do to repair my phone by myself. Thank you in advance.
I would suggest you to take an efs backup on 4.1. Then flash 4.3 and if you aren't getting network try restoring your efs backup. That might solve your problem.
firstly i apologise for my basic knowledge of this sort of thing, help would be greatly appreciated.
my unlocked at&t galaxy i747 recently was repaired via jtag after an over the air update bricked it.
i got it back and after an hour my sim wouldnt connect to the network anymore and i noticed the camera didnt work.
the guy who fixed it told me to wipe the devlik cache and factory reset which i did but i still had the camera and network issue.
i was hoping to flash back to stock rom so i cleared the current rom with the philz recovery and tried to install a stock on odin but it failed.
my main issue is that is if i have to send it back id like to with a rom on it. so if someone could provide me with a rom that will work id be most thankful. if i recall he installed a custom rom that said it was on the 4.1.1.1 version of android. the baseband wasnt ucdlk3 like my stock roms on the pc i tried to flash were. it had numbers like ...m j b ?
after i do that im hoping the guy will tell me how i can fix the camera and network issues. id rather have all stock rom and such but i dont want to interfere with that hes done.:crying:
i have a 16gb storage card so i can install the rom via zip if necessary. thanks for reading this, alex.
also i dont know if this is important but then i click turn off in recovery it says root missing.do you want to root? i just always click no.
Well if your on mjb then you can't flash to 4.1.1 or anything below 4.3 as the efuse has been triped and won't allow any other boot loader to run resulting in a brick.....so if you can flash 4.3 firmware to your phone and see if you can get it to boot.....if you can't then you may need to unbrick it with either the sdcard method or a JTAG again

I need a bit of help.My Note 3 got an update a few days ago. I had not updated the phone and yesterday i updated it to 4.4.2. I recently bought the phone from someone and im guessing that it was rooted before I got it. Not sure what the problem can be. After the update my phone does not pick up the network. It says not registered on network. What can I do to fix this? I have looked and looked on the internet on hos to fix this, but i am coming up with nothing. I dont have money to buy another phone.

The surest way to solve your problem is to:
#1: Go to http://SamMobile.com and download the official N900T
4.4.2 Kitkat NF1 firmware.
#2: Go into twrp or cwm recovery mode and do a full wipe which
includes wipe system, cache, dalvik, data and last but not least
do a factory reset.
#3: Odin flash the official stock firmware which you have downloaded.
Once you have done the above successfully you can root or re-root your
phone with cf-autoroot and then flash/install twrp or cwm recovery.
There are other ways to solve your network issue but this is the surest and easiest
and you will start out with fresh clean stock rooted firmware so you will be able to
flash any compatible custom roms which are available in this Tmobile forum.
Good luck!

Before going any further, if I were you I would borrow a Tmobile N900T
activated sim card from a friend or relative for a few minutes and use it
for a test to see if your phone has the network with that sim card.
If it does, then either your sim card is faulty or not activated.
Good luck!
EDIT: ISSUE RESOLVED. THIS IS A HARDWARE PROBLEM. SEE POST #16

Hey folks, so my friend didn't wait for my flashing skills and flashed his g/f's phone on his own.
Phone was already on some very old version of SlimROM AOSP and an older TWRP of some version or other.
I emailed him TWRP 7.1.X zip and a 4.1.2 stock rooted ROM zip.
He flashed them both at the same time, without rebooting in between.
And got a boot loop.
I had him flash just the TWRP and reboot to recovery. Then flash the ROM zip.
Now his phone suddenly does not detect the SIM card any longer? It did before all this.
The IMEI is fine. And I tried my very old AT&T SIM card, but it didn't detect my SIM either.
I then ODIN'd back to stock 4.1.2 and had same problem.
So I then rooted and flashed a custom 4.1.2 that came with a custom kernel, and still had the same problem.
So then I ODIN'd back to a stock ICS and STILL have the same problem.
Any suggestions?

Which S2 model? This is the T-Mobile forum and you said ATT sim. ATT sim won't work in a TMobile phone without it being unlocked.

SGH-T989 is the phone. The Hercules. Her SIM is a T-Mobile "isis" micro SIM with the little adapter thing. She says it worked fine before the update.

And.... that's why the SIM card worked before the "update" to stock TouchWiz. LOL
Turns out the SIM card she was using is the newer "Isis" version and it's not compatible with the 4.1.2 TouchWiz. And since 4.1.2 is the newest TouchWiz available for the Hercules, I just flashed to the newest AOSP 4.4 and now SIM is recognized again. I guess the really old Slim AOSP ROM was still somehow newer than the 4.1.2.
Dang, it sucks that Samsung hasn't even given you guys 4.2 yet. Sheesh.
Thanks for the help though.

Glad you got it working again! Part of it is Samsung is now on the S5, and they want people to buy it so they don't update the S2. The other problem is TouchWiz is so inefficient that some if their phones with 1gb if ram can't run TouchWiz KitKat, even though KK is designed for 512 mb of RAM and up. That's why every Samsung phone or tablet I've ever owned has been rooted once it is out of warranty (about when they stop updating if you buy new.)
If I can help you with anything else, please reply to this post.
Have a good night!

UPDATE: BROKEN AGAIN
Well I just don't understand this one. The phone and SIM were working fine last night. I gave the phone back to the owner. This morning she brings it back to me because once again, the SIM is not working. She didn't do anything to the phone, so we're not sure what caused this.
And for the life of me, I can't get the SIM card to work again, after re-doing everything I did last night to fix it.
So I went to T-Mobile store and got her the old style SIM specifically for this phone model. And the phone doesn't see that SIM either. The T-Mobile guy was perplexed.
Especially so, because the phone recognizes my AT&T SIM and asks for an unlock code. It see's my Mom's AT&T SIM also. Asks for an unlock code.
So WTF. It see's AT&T SIM's but can't see any TMO SIM.
Most.Perplexing.
Already tried ODIN to stock and flashed AOSP 4.4. Nothing working.
Full wipes in between flashes.
IMEI is still showing up fine and TMO agent didn't find any locks on the IMEI in his system.

Nope. Tried ODIN to ICS and JB and neither see the SIM.
Gahh, just flashed the 4.4 wild kernel and a EMC6 (?) modem. Whatever the latest modem is.
No dice.

Yup, modem=radio.
I ODIN'd the older 4.0.X ROM found at SamMobile: T989UVLH1_T989TMBLH1_TMB
Then I ODIN'd root.
Then I flashed the older radio: sgh-t989_uvle1_radio
I followed the directions in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024514
This unlocked the phone for my AT&T SIM to use. And dammit, the phone see's my AT&T SIM and is making calls just fine.
BUT IT STILL REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE ANY T-MOBILE SIM.
WTF WTF WTF. LOL. :silly:
Okay, I got things figured out.
This is a HARDWARE issue.
If the AT&T SIM is inserted properly, it works fine.
If either T-Mobile SIM is inserted properly, it does not work.
If the T-Mobile micro SIM is inserted properly, then slid out 1/8", then it works.
I can't get the T-Mobile normal SIM to work in any position, but then it's bigger, so it's harder to get it to "slide around" in the slot they way I need it to.
Could you please send me the link or ICS stock rom file, all link I found already die.

I am not in a similar situation, I just bought an unlocked ATT Skyrocket using T-mobile SIM. And I hope to find a ROM supports ISIS/Softcard now. I think it would probably be a T-mobile stock ROM.
I ran through I727 and T989 forums, yet got a bit confused with all types of methods.
So, what's your latest suggested steps? Thanks,
