I went back to stock via odin. The status will then change back to official and then you can upgrade.

Odin is the only way to do that.
After uou flashed it via Odin, the statut will become "Official" again.
About Triangle away, it doesn't support newer devices like Tab 3 and Tab 4.

ROOTED - Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available.?

[Have seen this in other forums but wasn't sure if the solutions there applied to the S4]
Anyways, the only thing I've done on my S4 is 1) sim-unlock the device via (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282683) and 2) root the device via KIES.
I have not installed any custom firmware or whatnot, I've only done the above 2. When I try to hit System Update, I get the message "Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available."
I even ran Triangle Away to bring my counter back down to 0 (even if I didn't install any custom firmware) and I'm still getting this error. Does anyone have any solutions?
Should I unroot the device and will that bring it back to normal?
Thanks in advance!
It's because you rooted your phone

Just flash a new ROM. As software updates become available the devs will base ROMs off of the latest update.

no updates
I got the same message. I removed root and tried to update and got the same thing. I was wondering if a factory reset would restore my updates.

Try using Triangle-Away.
In triangle away there is an option to disable root for a minute or so when booting, this will have the stock rom think its not rooted, enabling software updates.
same issue
I had the same issue. I had rooted my phone and got that message when trying to update OTA.
I really wanted the ability to put apps on the sd card from the phone itself and not have to use some fancy app to do it for me and make symbolic links (Linux stuff)
What I did was goto settings-accounts-backup and reset- and selected factory data reset.
This completely returns your phone to stock like it came out of the box. afterward I didn't get the message but I kept getting server communication errors so I connected my phone through usb to kies and it is doing the firmware upgrade as I type and OMFG is it the slowest ****ing thing I have ever had the misfortune to do. Its been on for about 3 hours and its only at 42%
And strangely my phone is still completely usable while this is going on.
Wait, is the update available for the T-Mobile devices now?

Does anyone know if it works?
I've just rooted my phone a few days ago, and removed some Sumsang and t-mobile bloatware, and that message appeared.
Thanks in advance.
Anyone of us will be answer. Soon as an update is released. But in order to get an update, you MUST be completely stock, down to the bloatware.
your system has been modified
Hi, I have successfully installed cynogen mod 10.1 nightly. And I again restored my original 4.1.2 but now when I trying to check OTA update it says "your system has been modified, software update is not available. Please please please help me.

Hello brother, I guess there is some misunderstanding regarding device model. My question is for my samsung note 10.1 GT-N8000 . Should I follow the same steps to get back my original system ? Please suggest. Thanks.
Seems like you should be asking this question in right forum then.
Im having the same issue after using triangle away. Everything says official and flash count is at 0. Any ideas? Also, with flash count set at 0 and everything listed as official, does this mean i will be ok for warranty? Im having an issue with my touchscreen working and the Tmobile place had to send me a new phone
Edit: Done a factory reset after using triangle away and i got the "Your device is up to date." Message. Still somewhat worried about warranty though.

[Q] Phone not booting after failed update..Urgent

Hi,
On my Note 2 7100 , I have given my phone to service centre guys to upgrade to 4.3 from 4.1.2.
After they attempted to upgrade the phone is not booting
The system status says Custom and they say it because you have rooted your phone and we cant help.
But before I gave my phone to them I have checked the phone there was no super user also every screen was looking official.
So I am not really sure if my phone was ever rooted or they screwed up my phone.
According to them if i install the old firmware my phone should boot.
But since I have no idea how it was rooted i am not able to do any thing.
Please help ... Urgent

Flash a custom ROM using ODIN Guide here. dun use the odin in the description. It's outdated. use this instead. Flash a custom ROM (or official) (official 4.3 has kies though) If u wan 4.3 without bloatware, try this.
Hope I helped!
which rom should i use
Hi,
I have tried to flash it with stock rom but its not booting.
Which rom should I use to flash the device now ?
Keep pressing buttons continuously for download mode
Then the upgrade failed message will go and then it will enter into download mode. after this you can try again.

Do a mega wipe (if u dun mind). The service guys may have put in a wrong modem so, flash a modem for ur phone. Download ur modem here. This fixed my phone 5 minutes ago when i accidentally flashed a N7100 ROM (Ditto Note 3) on my N7105.

[Q] downgrade from 4.4.2 to official 4.3 can i use Odin?

Hi guys,
i'll sell my 7105 in few days so i'd like to set back official rom!
my only doubt is right now i'm using custom rom on 4.4.2 can i just wipe all go in DOWNLOAD mode and install 4.3 official rom?
about keeping the root ?
thanks
Yes, Odin is the way to go. You don't necessarily have to wipe anything, but I would do so to make sure it is factory reset and to prevent you from boot loop.
Flashing stock will unroot the phone, but it won't reset the flash counter! Consider to do that as well as you are going to sell it.
thanks Yakobus for your reply.. actually i did act before reading ur msg
well i was just scared to destroy note 2 just few days before leaving me ahah!
FYI , for those like me willing to know, this is what i did...
I've got latest rom from sammobile..
I used trianlge away and then i went in recovery over my phone!
once in recovery i wiped ALL.. and i mean all with TWRP recovery!
from there i rebooted phone in DOWNLOAD mode and i used ODIN pc (u can find step by step by Dr Ketan or other post)
flashed 4.3 to my phone, when rebooted everything was working ( yes also wifi )
COUNTER went back to ZERO ... Knox is installed (apparently) but honestly i couldn't care less..
everything good if anyone has some doubts.. ask
:highfive:
You are welcome. Good to see everything went fine and thank you for the summary!
Edit:
What I did not have in mind: Your Knox counter is probably set to 0x1 as you were using a custom ROM. You cannot reset it so far and I do not know what that means for our warranty as it depends on your country's laws and your provider/seller.
with some more details pls , i'm a noob , had note II 4.3 JB , upgraded to 4.4.2 official kit kat and want to downgrade , i didn't root it , i didn't do anything at all and i dont want to lose the phone i just bought a week ago , can u help me?

Need advice n7105 strange knox bootloop with every rom but 4.1.2 stock after cm10.1

Hello,
I'm a noob but usually try to fix this kind of issues on my own, looking at the boards, following tutorials, learning, but this time I think I'm not able to find a solution on my own so I'm asking for advice here.
Some time ago I installed cyanogenmod 10.1 on my Note 2 LTE and was happy with it for some month, than last week I tried to upgrade to cm12.1 It worked but there where some issues and bugs, mainly I wasn't able to swap internal/external sd cards.
So I decided to go back to latest available stock rom 4.4.2 from sammobile.
Here is where the problem starts. The stock 4.4.2 resulter in a bootloop, tried cache/dalvik/factory reset, flash again, whipe again.. nothing.
The phone is not able to get past the white label "Samsung Note 2 gt-n7105" screen. It goes black than the white label again and again.
It doesn't even get to the Samsung animated logo.
Ok bottloop, no problem, try to flash again something else.
I tried different Custom roms, different kernels, different flashing methods. I can flash anything with no problem but every time a get a bootloop.
During the various attempts knox fired, but I don't care. I don't know if this could be the cause.
Actually the only firmware that works is the original oldest STOCK 4.1.2, every other stock firmware past that or any custom rom is bootlooping the same way. To fix I only can reinstall stock 4.1.2 with odin.
I really need any advice or hint.
At the moment my goal is to get at least to stock 4.3 but I cant.........
Thanks!

nope it doesn't existed before, but now I can see it when I boot in download mode "knox warranty void:1"
Try to get the latest firmware available via kies ,that worked for me
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2088809/[URL]
From what you've described, I think the Stock ROM 4.4.2 from Sammobile contained a bootloader update. So when you flashed this ROM, it updated your bootloader from the non-Knox version to the Knox version.
I am very unfamiliar with the technical details of Knox, but I think the new Knox bootloader is causing your bootloop problem.
However, I don't know why 4.1.2 works when everything else doesn't work!
Can you check the Stock ROM 4.4.2, and see whether it really contains a bootloader update?

Since a boot.img is present, it means that it would flash your boot partition. So now we know for sure that when you attempted to flash the Stock ROM 4.4.2, your bootloader was changed to the Knox version.
So the lesson here is: before you flash anything via ODIN, always check to see if there is a bootloader update. Usually you don't want to be changing the bootloader on your phone.
***
So now there are 2 possible ways to reach your goal:
1) Keep your new bootloader and see whether you can get Stock 4.3 or Stock 4.4.2 running on your phone
2) Try to restore your old bootloader
As I said earlier, I'm not familiar with the technical details of Knox, so I'm not sure how to get Stock 4.3 or Stock 4.4.2 running on your phone when your Knox indicator is already 0x1. You need someone else to help you.
And you can only restore your old bootloader if you happen to have made a copy of your boot partition before you flashed the Stock ROM 4.4.2. Even if you did have a copy of your original boot partition, I'm not confident with helping you to restore your old bootloader. You need someone else to help you in this case too.
Conclusion: I don't think I can help you to solve your problem I'm sorry. Hopefully someone else who is more of a pro than me will come along to help you out.
Good luck!

Noob Question about root and stock rom

Concerning Samsung devices, does flashing a stock firmware clean of careers, without enabling root, void the warranty?
Flashing stock original firmware packages with odin does not trip knox, or void warranty.

That is very reliving to know...
Because I accidentally bought a A5 2017 from a lazy career from Brazil that take too much time to liberate updates, that is when it do liberate...
So I want to flash the clean stock firmware...
Can I only find the firmware at Sammobile and such or is there some Samsung official channel?
I couldn't find at the Samsung site
I think doing a factory data reset will revert you back to a clean, stock device.

Wow, that would be better if it works this way
Anyway, for flashing another stock firmware, I have to factory reset the phone, than I will see what happens! Thank you guys ^^
Do you know how to make phone and notification volume increase and decrease together? I still couldn't find it at settings : / I'm a still a noob to Samsung things lol
Factory reset only didn't solve the question.
But flashing clean stock firmware, with odin, did it flawlessly!
Thanks guys, now I can receive ota updates exactly when they're released :victory:

I am from Brazil as well and I did the same thing, bought my A5 (2017) at a mobile carrier (TIM) and it came with a custom rom, I downloaded and flashed the official stock rom from samsung. There is a problem though, the app Secure Folder does not work anymore. It says that I installed a non-authorized software. Do you know any solution?

I did not even enable it when I set up after flashing the clean stock rom, so I don't know whether I too have this issue or not. I only know that the device status is official both in the settings session of phone status and in recovery. In recovery - or download mode, can't remember exactly - there is some kind of counter on the upper left or right side, showing phone status and what I guess is the amount of times roms had been flashed or root access had been granted.
Sorry for the unclear infos, but I'm new to flashing and stuff with Samsung.
Check your phone status in those both places and wait for OTA from Samsung. If you receive OTA, that should mean your device is recognized as stock as it were with that sad TIM carrier stock rom. As soon as I set up and the home screen appeared for the firstly time, Samsung's OTA had shown up, so I was sure my device is recognized as a stock, official one, without Knox having been triggered.
Hope it helps make things clearer ^^
