I got my Sprint M8 just few hours ago, rooted, .S-ON.
At first it worked fine, but after left it in my pocket for about 30 min with about 45% battery power, the phone powered down by itself, and there was no way to power it on again.
I tried to charge the phone with the stock charger for more than 3 hrs, the screen was always showing an empty battery logo with a flash icon inside, no green charging indicator, and the orange LED beside the speaker was blinking all the time.
I also tried to push Power+Vol up for more than 20 seconds, still nothing happened.
Is anyone know how to fix this?

Push Power + Vol up again, but this time hold the phone under a bright light, in particular the area of the front camera and sensor needs to be under the light. Keep holding down until it reboots.
20 seconds isn't enough ... once I had to hold it for about a min before it jumped back to life

My Lumia 900 suddenly went off when on call I tried connecting and charging using USB cable .. it was showing that red battery symbol going off after a white screen couple of times. Then after 5 mins of charging and on off red battery symbol, it started with 50% battery, which on USB charge takes hours to reach 50%. That means it was not actually low battery.
Its kind of strange.. It was real awkward to call him after 10 minutes to say it was phone issue.
Has anybody had such experience? Nokia are u listening?

I had this happen to me twice a while back whilst using sat-nav, The only way I found was to hold power button for at least ten to fifteen seconds and then phone kind of reboots, Hasn't happened since but I have had a few updates since, My battery wasn't low either.
Happened to me yesterday. I plugged the phone into the wall charger, it came up with the dead battery screen for about 5 seconds, rebooted, and came on normally. Strange.
huh??
the windows phone has this similar problem too
now i said noo to windows phone
Hello, I was using my phone yesterday while charging, the battery was ~45% and it was working fine at all, then it suddenly turned off and isn't turning on again, only blinking the red led if the power on button is pressed while charging in the wall charger and glowing the red led without blinking if connected to a computer. If the button is not pressed, the phone just stays off. I don't know what to do, in other situations the phone's battery gone to 0% and blinked the red light without the button pressed and came back after some minutes charging, but this time I tried to charge it some times and nothing happened. Somebody knows what to do?
Thanks
Hello there! I had the same issue, I was playing a game and my phone had like 7%, suddenly it turned off.. And wouldn't turn on, and showed the red led.
What I did is to let it charge for 30 minutes or more, maybe 1 hour. And then it'll turn on, if not. Maybe you'll have to remove the battery and reinsert it back in. But for now just let it charge for a long time. It should turn on.

Yeah, it happened before with me, but it didn't came back this time. Took it to LG, they said it was a hardware problem and that it would took ~4 days to give me an answer, thanks for the help anyway.

+1 to this suggestion. I went through that before, and it definitely helps in many cases. But it sounds like the phone is in for repair with LG now, so it's a moot point...
So the other night I updated to cm-12.1-20150614-NIGHTLY-d2tmo, I wasn't exactly fond of lolipop, and planned on downgrading back to kitkat the next day.
However, this morning I noticed my phone was powering off, not even rebooting... and when I turned it back on, the "optimizing apps" would occur 85% of the time. I had to do some work and had it charging (low battery), and it stayed on during an hour's worth of charging... However once I stepped out, I noticed it had gone off again, so I turned it on.... and then when I wanted to turn the screen off, a short press on the power button brought up the power menu...with a slight screen flicker. Short or long, the power menu came up, and then the phone went off.
Every attempt to turn it on afterwards has resulted in the phone vibrating, and showing the S3 splash logo for about 1-2 seconds... Pressing the button combo to get into recovery mode lasts just as long, and download mode lasts about 5-6 seconds if I can hit the volume up button quickly enough. Plugging it into charge shows the battery icon for a second, and since I had disabled the LED while charging...can't tell if it's doing anything when the icon no longer shows up.
I was using an Anker extended battery since last October, so I thought that might be it. I pulled out the original battery and hoped for the best... same deal.
When I place either battery back in, it vibrates and the Samsung splash shows up for a second and then it powers off.
Plugging it in to the computer or charger without the battery in, will cause it a red LED to show followed by a vibrate, and then the LED flickers quickly 3 times before going off.
I did some Googling and it may be sudden death syndrome? Power button's gone faulty (could the battery case housing the larger Anker battery pressing against the power button be to blame?)?
Is there anything I can do?
Son of a..... I saw a few suggestions to tap (with some force) the power button, and with not much to lose, I took my original battery and gave it a couple of good taps (not with extreme force, I don't need a dented battery!). Put the battery back in, and ....... powered through fully (though still did the annoying "optimizing apps"). For the time being I won't use the Anker battery and will just use the home button to activate the screen.
I assume there are replacement power buttons/ribbons/etc?
Hey! Few days ago my M8 has stopped working. Just picked up the phone in the morning and it was dead (didn't charge it at night). Only charging diode glows orange when the charger is plugged in.
I've checked battery voltage with multimeter and it was 4,04V. Tried to hold power button with every combination with VOL+, VOL- and still nothing... Charging icon doesn't appear on screen. I've also checked every possible connection inside and everything is OK. Do you have any suggest? I really want to rescue it cuz it's the best audio recorder I've ever had Please help:crying:
Try holding just power button for a minute or so. Or try power+vol up for a minute.
Most folks don't realize you have to hold the button for so long, in this situation (battery ran down).

Try leaving it on the wall charger a few hours, and try again. Or try it with the charger connected.
I know you already tested the battery voltage as being good. But folks have had luck trying the various things I mentioned above. It's all you can do short of replacing the battery (which may not be the issue).
my device always red light is blinking. not open
HI All,
I recently did an unlock and ROM install and phone went great for a week or so, but now the phone suddenly shut down while on, and apparently with battery (my daughter says!) and now wont turn on at all.
If i plug it into a charger the battery filling icon turns on and the power LED lights up but then it seems to cycle off again very quickly and then stays in this cycle.
I have tried power + volume up and down combos but so far no luck. Any suggestions?
Leave the phone on wall charger for several hours. Then try holding power for a minute or so (it takes that long in certain "stuck" conditions). Also try holding power+vol up for a minute or so.
But what you describe (charge LED appears, then goes out) makes me think you may have a bad battery.
