You can't boot straight to recovery? What do you mean when a rom is installed it gives you that error? If I remember right that is because the bootloader is still locked. Have you tried the hard recovery boot combo? I think it is power and volume up, then you should see bootloader, volume up and down change the options, when it says recovery press the power button.
Check this thread for brick repair,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230106
It will help you get into recovery and have a rom installed.
If you are looking for stock I suggest this thread for the rom once you can get into recovery.

Some more details would help me understand better. What I'd love to know is.
1. What is the current state of the phone ?
2. Is it rooted or Are you trying to root ? If so what process.
3. Are you trying to flash a rom or Recovery or what ?
4. Last but not least. What rom and version you currently have on there ?

You didn't specify how you got here .What did you try to do, that left you in this state ? Am I assuming correctly that you somehow managed to wipe system partition and have only the stock recovery ?
If the phone is in Recovery mode, Odin will not work. You will need to reboot the phone into Download mode. To do this, you pull the battery out, volume down, home, and power button at the same time until you see the Samsung logo, and then release. You will see a warning message with bright yellow triangle and will say Downloading. Once that is done, connect to the PC.
Using ODIN, first flash a custom recovery such as TWRP. If you want to go back to stock, this is the time you flash Stock rom instead of the recovery.
If you want custom rom, copy the rom zip to the External SD card and then put that in the phone and flash via Custom Recovery.

QHSUSB_DLOAD means your device is hard Bricked. Please follow De-Bricking thread in this sub forum.

Then perhaps you should have asked on that thread for next steps. Anyway, if you are still getting the Qsub message when connecting to pc that means its not out of de-brick yet. I'd suggest following there.
Also please first put the phone in download mode and THEN connect to the PC. Tell me what happens in that case.

Perhaps not Perseus! AS stated........Its out of the brick mode and is now stuck in boot recovery mode! The method to get it into download mode is null, because it will only go into the boot recovery mode when i push those buttons to try and get it there! NOTE: its now in MSM9860 when plugged into the PC.

Please note, the button combo slightly differs for Recovery versus Download mode
Recovery Booting - Power +Home + Volume UP
Download Mode - Power +Home + Volume DOWN
Do you still have the sd setup from the debrick thread? Can you see if you can get back to download mode by booting from that again?
If so, try flashing the Stock firmware again, and if you still end up in the same spot maybe try again, but this time flash CWM or TWRP recovery from Odin, then flash a Rom from recovery.
And I can't remember right off but did you try factory resetting from recovery?

In that Case boot the phone using the files of the SD Card as per the De-Brick Thread. See if you can into Downloading mode that way.

Tried that method also and no luck!
Just to clarify, the boot recovery mode you are referring to, does it have the binary/flash count, system status, etc? Basically what do you see?
It sounds in some ways you are in download mode, but recovery is a very different mode, so just to clear up any confusion.....

After I have flashed an outdated SuperSU (At the time I didn't know), I rebooted the phone and now it is stuck on the boot animation (CM 12.1 Boot animation). I can't go to recovery mode because my volume up button is broken. Please help

Is the phone an i747m or i747? Which bootloader is on the phone?
The easiest solution may be to flash a ROM via desktop Odin.
Its an i747 and I'm going to try and flash a rom with odin. Thanks for replying!
Well, how do I flash a rom with odin with my device like this? I've seen tutorials and they say you need to enter download mode but I can't because it requires you to press volume up.
I recommend not flashing anything until you verify the bootloader on the phone.
And how do you do that?
Boot into download mode and look at the screen. If you see something about warranty bit, you have at least a 4.3 bootloader. With a 4.3 bootloader or higher, you need to ensure that you do not flash anything that tries to downgrade the bootloader.
Was your phone working with calls and data on cm12.1? If it was, you probably have at least a kit kat bootloader.

getting into Download mode doesn't require you to use de Volume Up button, it's the VolumeDown key... VolDOWN+Home+Power...
Volume Up would be used to go to Recovery, not Download mode...

In that case, you should have a KK bootloader; therefore, don't flash anything that tries to flash a different bootloader.
You'll have to find a ROM that can be flashed via download mode with Odin. Most non-stock ROMs require a custom recovery.
When I go into download mode, it gives me a warning and it says: Volume down to restart or volume up to continue. My volume up is broken so I can't continue.
A USB jig may be the only solution to access download mode.
Hi everyone, some help is needed. Mistakenly when rooting my stock T805 with CF autoroot, tired and sleepy, I flashed it in Odin in BL (bootloader) and not in AP box as I should. Soft bricked it, couldn't go back to stock, somehow managed to install recovery, from there to some AOSP rom and finally to Xtrolite (which is great) .Anyhow, all is working now, EXCEPT, i still cannot flash stock rom in Odin, seems i destroyed bootloader but then again, I flashed stock bootloader-only file, i got recovery, any rom etc. Help is needed what to do??
Also, is this normal that VOL UP+ POWER+ HOME wont enter recovery?? I remember this when i bought it, with knox 0x0 and now also, with TWRP, i have to use an app to reboot to recovery?! weird...
Cheers!
If you had trashed the bootloader you wouldn't even have a bootable device, it would be bricked.
Not getting into recovery is purely pilot error.
You need to give more details regarding flashing the stock rom, screen shots etc.
Part of the problem was that i couldn't enter recovery with button combo but needed to have working rom with special app or 4 way reboot mod. When flashing stock rom (either 4.4.2 or 5.0) at the end of the proccess it says: FAIL (red).

You need to post a screen shot of the flash process in Odin.
I'll reiterate, regarding entering recovery mode is 99% of times user error.
From power off hold POWER + HOME + VOL UP until recovery boots.

Tnx. Finally managed to find some time and clear this one out. It was LP bootloader issue, appareantly you can go back only to some 4.4.2 bootloaders/roms and some not.
I got another brain puzzling issue with my Nexus 10, please share some insight....http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-10/help/nexus-10-half-to-bricked-t3210005

When you boot the phone, you should get a colored led flash, maybe purple, then press up or down while led is lit. Alternately, if you have updated bootloader and a compatible recovery, you can turn off phone, then hold power and volume down together until vibrate, then release. If neither works, run XZDR installer on your PC, then try again - http://nut.xperia-files.com/
I get no flash when booting, I've tried pressing power and vol down until vibrate I just get a blank screen. I'm going to install XZDR I'll get back to you
Thx mate it worked I can now boot into recovery
good day,
i have an HTC 10 factory unlocked, i had the bootloader unlocked through HTCdev. i then flashed the latest TWRP recovery, attempting to enter revovery....i cant. i din't get the triangle thingy what so ever,it jus displayed the screen like when you're about to enter bootloader mode. then it would restart after that, almost brick it cuz it didn't wanna boot at one pointing time :crying::crying: .i've rooted m7,8 & 9 and never came across something like that. i can't even flash over new rom cuz cmd is given error: can't open recovery. before i attempted bootloader unlock via htcdev, i tried sunshine jus to avoid the hassle and when it was attempting to give me temproot, it failed....3 times so that was useless, leaving me to go manual. any help on this?
Wrong thread. But sounds like recovery didn't flash. Make sure your flashing to recovery partition. Search thread for toolkit, will make it easier.
Fastboot flash recovery recovery. IMG @download mode
I used this tool to safely and successfully install ROM and Recovery.. Maybe you could try..

Not sure if this helps, but I get the same type of issue when booting to recovery, except my phone is bone stock.
What works for me is right after the symbol comes up, press Vol Up and Power at the same time. If I time it right, recovery mode comes up. Not sure if it will work with TWRP, since I've never used it.
