I have been running an old version of viper rom, 1.4 i guess. It was running great and I haven't notice any problems. later on I updated to 1.5 and it
was so buggy, I had an annoying bug when playing any video the phone won't exit the video only by restarting the phone.
Anyways, I went back to the old rom and few days ago I flashed viper 1.6, which I thought would be better but its not.
Bugs:
Sometimes the phone screen won't turn on after pressing the power button. it will take maybe 30 sec then it will turn on
Im noticing a huge battery drain which didn't exist on the older version
Using the standard HTC charger, the phone take ages to charge and becomes EXTREMELY hot(happened twice), I mean it very very hot im just waiting for it to explode
So any ideas?? do you have the same problems or is it just me? solution?
I really dont want to flash the old version and reorganize everything again or change to a diffrent rom because I like viper roms since they are ultra customizable

just you mate i would do a fresh install
my battery is great and stays very cool and no problem with power button

Thx man, today I got that video player bug again X_X
Its weird, I usually erase everything when flashing except the internal storage and the sd card.
Is there any firm where or anything that I may have missed?

Hi,
I have a problem with my phone.
When the phone is turned on for about 5-8 days, every once in a while the screen will not turn on again when pressing the power button or opening the keyboard.
Trying to call the phone also doesn't work anymore. Indication leds do still work.
After reinserting the battery, the phone works again.
Currently I'm running CM 6.1.1 but I had this problem with the original Sense rom and CM 6.1 so I'm guessing it's not software related.
Does somebody also experienced this problem and is there a solution for it?

Thanks for the reply but this wasn't the case.
I recently updated to 1.72 and so far I didn't have any crashes yet.
Worked for me.
I was having a similar problem when trying to wake the phone or even answer calls,the screen would stay black & would not come on. So i did some searching and discovered that the problem might be due to the kernel i had installed. I switched to the pershoot kernel and haven't had any problems since.
so i guess ive been getting what you would call SOD's, only normally the only way to boot your phone is by pulling the battery ,well i can just hold the power button for an extended amount of time and it will reboot for a couple minutes and then shut down again ,after its through that cycle i can boot it normally with the power button, it happens when i plug the phone up and let it charge to 100% and if the phone isnt taken off the charge then it shuts down like this, its happened once on a call too and i wanna say the wi-fi was enabled every time ...i dont remember im running a test with the wi-fi off right now ,any how i would assume this would be hardware related since ive flashed every rom and it happens on all of them ....any thoughts? im planning on returning the device for another one ,just hesitant because i got one without any of the screen issues that some people are getting

It may be hardware related but it could also be an app that you are installing on each rom. Try a new rom and don't install anything for a few hours and see if it still happens.

i think its related to the wi-fi being on while charging , just fully charged it and left the phone on the cord for an hour after charging and it never went off. ran it down to 90% and turned wi-fi back on and hooked it up to see if it does it again
that has happened to me with other phones, like Nexus S, I9000, Moto XT720
so it's definitely not hardware related AFAIK
the way i narrowed it down to has always been a ROM problem
after I flash clean up, or load a more stable ROM the Sleep Of Death goes away.
i had a lot of that with the recent "stable" CM 7.1 for Nexus S
flashed to a newer nightly unstable and it fixed the "stable" problem LOL
well i just got my new phone in yesterday and so far no random reboots or SOD's ,phone seems a little faster than my previous got 3700 quads stock unrooted and over 15megs download and almost 3 upload , i think i got a better device this time and im pretty sure it was a new one and not refurbished, im gonna run it stock for a couple days just to see if any problems re-occur, i was having them on my first phone before i rooted ,thats why i decided to root and install custom roms
Hi guys,
I had been upgrade from 2.1 to cm7 last few day
Its quite awesome, like using other phone!
But i got a random problem that when i wake up my phone,
all the buttons is not working anymore, that im freezing on unlock screen (i do using widget locker)
no matter the power, volume or the 4 soft buttons
And a strange thing is that the system is still working!
Like when i plug in the usb, it will pop up said usb is conneted,
and the battery life will still decreasing..
So wts the problem with my defy?

Coz the guide said:
"If you try to flash a lower ID version than the one already on your phone, you will just get a Black screen after booting or a screen telling you to flash an official rom."

Guys Help please! I think I've semi/bricked my phone, it started a week ago after I installed ARHD 9.7.2 ICS rom and I started to get FC's on gapps, google talk, msg's all important system apps were closing.
So I wiped everything installed Renovate ICS rom and all was fine... for a few minutes and the FC's started again so much so that it rendered the phone useless and I re-flashed the rom without flashing boot.img and all was fine for a few minutes again before FC and then hang.
So hold down the power button for few secs and the screen switched off. Now no response what so ever no combination of button pressing will do anything. When I connect it to pc it says could not install drivers and makes a sound when I connect and disconnect it.
I really appreciate any help on this guys, I'll let the batt go flat and hope something happens next. Had it since may and it's been awesome but I've never witnessed this non responce on any android phone I've seen.

Hi, Since i updated to android 6.0 I have been experiencing alot of issues. My phone recently started to turn off for no reason for every Rom I install. I cant use it for 10 minutes for it to turn off. Sometimes I must try like 5 times for it to boot. Is there anything I can do about it? Im just thinking I should throw it to garbage and get the S7?

I am trying to install the stock rom right now but during installation it shuts down randomly. I have tried another battery and it still does the same thing so I think the battery is not the problem.
Also wanted to say that I dropped the phone few times without any screen damage. Maybe that caused a hardware problem?
EDIT: I successfully installed the stock rom. I will let you know if it runs smooth now, thanks!
It seems that my power button has a problem, every time I press it, sometimes it opens the menu where you can select if you want to reboot/turn off/vibrate and the phone turns off.
