[Q] Root App Delete Problem - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Soooo, I rooted, and installed Root App Delete to remove some factory apps, and removed a few. I am now wondering if I deleted something I shouldn't have, because I am now getting a message when I try uninstalling other apps. Noob move, if that is what happened. I thought I was careful in what I was removing. I have attached a screenshot of the message. Help please!

Just restore a backup(assuming you made one before messing around with system apps, if not, noob move 2, lol). Or worst case scenario, do a factory reset and start fresh, and Google what you want to delete and other safe apps to remove before going so good luck

No, you will be back to the settings you had when you walked out of the store
Edit: Sort of...It won't reset whatever modem you have, nor the boot loader. You can always flash the stock tar as well.

Er...what is this?

I get these things almost every night, lead to websites that don't exist (or may be blocked by ad-away). Any ideas?
EDIT: This will still happen even if I've just wiped and have no apps other than stock ones installed
Wow roms do adds now

You have an app that is giving you ads.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
it's not the rom that's doing it, it's an app that's been downloaded/installed. whatever was the last app you downloaded from market before those ads started showing up is the culprit. by uninstalling the app(and possibly rebooting your phone) the ads will go away.
however, if it's an app you insist on having, you can download an app like 'Ad Blocker' that will allow that particular app to continue running on your phone while blocking whatever "ads" come with it.
See my edit. I have ad-away installed, it does the same thing as ad blocker
Get rid of one app at a time if you don't remember your last app downloaded

Remember after you update the add away list you have to reboot your phone for it to work properly

I know. Ad-away doesn't block the notification, just the website it tries to bring up if I click it

Not in that screenshot, but yes after a full wipe with no apps installed/restored it does it too
when you wipe the phone, you do the standard 'factory reset' as well as format /system before you install a new rom right?
it could be something that was installed to /sdcard that's causing it as performing the 2 options above would not work in this case.
Are you running a custom rom

Yes right now I'm running AOKP, but it started even before I rooted it.
hmm... i'd say if you're willing to, format /sdcard
considering that /system is getting completely wiped it's obviously not there. has to somehow be something that made it's way onto the sdcard.

If you wipe data and flash a rom from this forum and reboot there is zero likelihood of that. Uncheck settings > backup and restore > restore blah blah.
If that isn't working you break your phone number

I would call myself an experienced ROM flasher, I literally do not understand what's causing this. I'm not restoring automatically when I set up again after wiping, I don't think something can just autorun itself from the SD card. I'm thinking it might be some sort of verizon spam, similar to the "Ozmail" thing maybe?
there is another thread here that's similiar.
if it is 'airpush' related, i'd probably try out Airpush Detector or Addons Detector

Either Freeze the apps with Titanium Backup Pro, or delete the APK's using Root Explorer (apps are in /system/app).

Go into the development forum, look a couple pages back for a thread by someone called Prkezet (something like that) and flash that in ODIN.

Before you go to the trouble of flashing it in Odin, try doing a full factory reset ....
Factory reset won't bring it back. That just clears data of everything on the phone.. but since its deleted, it ain't gonna come back.
Do the Odin flash. Easiest thing, will be back to stock. I just really did mines yesterday .. because bugged me that someone I got airpush notification and I have a habbit of the littlest thing PC or phone to just reformat

Hey ...sorry to hear..do a Google search for the apk you deleted.
On another note ..really shouldn't mess with stuff you don't understand. Try reading what others have done or if your really wanting to go aheahd make a backup first. No need for 3 posts crying..
Hope helps..
So I just put the link that you gave me into odin and put my phone into odin and watch it do the magic or what?

My Pictures aren't working, they arent being shown even when I take pictures, I think I'm going to flash a rom when I get back home.
Yes. Try to restore thru titanium backup what u deleted.

"S-On?"

I rooted my Note2 and have root access, but I think I'm missing something... I reset my phone and the system apps reset themselves. On my Glacier you had to turn security off to keep it from happening, and I was wondering what needs to be done to prevent it on this device.
All I did was root, install cwm, then install Su. Does it have to do with deodexing? I'm unfimiliar with what it means and would appreciate some guidance in the right direction.

HTC devices. Do a little more reading and you'll find the difference, I find Sammy devices are a lot easier to play with compared to HTC, having owned several of both.

There is no such thing as S-on and S-off on Samsung devices as they already ship with an unlocked bootloader. If you are doing a factory reset on any phone, all of the system apps should be wiped as well, so I don't really understand your question.

Don't worry, I understand what you're talking about.
Started happening with the Galaxy S3 on T-Mobile as well since the most recent JB update
You "freeze" an app in Titanium Backup, and it freezes just fine, but after the very next reboot that app is back in action and active in the background. Very frustrating, I know.
The two apps I noticed this with were T-Mobile's My Account app and Zynga games (really??)
Here's the solution - uninstall the offending apps. That'll teach em!
Uninstalling works just fine, but for example when I install the older version of YouTube (which I prefer over the new) and restart my phone, the version it ships with is reinstalled.
Also, when I flash a zip that installs the apk into the system app folder, it gets wiped after a reboot.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
I know that there were two files you had to remove to prevent reboots from reflashing stock recovery, I would imagine this is the same thing - problem is, I don't know what files to remove (I don't have the Note 2 yet so I can't go poking around to look for them)
But I am sure you can find/remove them.
This is why I stick with CM10, I can't stand the control T-Mobile and Samsung try to maintain on our devices
I can't find the info! BTW, the search function on the mobile app is not very good. Haha

there is no s-on or s-off for samsung, thats just a htc thing. you root, install cwm w/ Su and you're done.

[Q] Titanium Backup Pro can't uninstall stock apps

Hi,
I recently updated my Hercules T989 to Jellybean 4.1.2 via Kies. When I was on ICS, I could easily uninstall the t-mobile stock apps(or any other stock apps) using Titanium Backup Pro. But after upgrading to JB 4.1.2, I cant uninstall a single stock app. I tried updating Titanium backup pro from 4.1 to 4.5.6 but its still the same. It can freeze the apps but one app: 't-mobile accounts' unfreezes itself. I dont know how it happens. By the way, the device is rooted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Are you sure Titanium Backup has root permissions? Check your Superuser app log and make sure they're being granted. You need root access for Titanium Backup to be able to remove/freeze system apps (like the built-in stuff).

Yes, I have rooted my phone after I upgraded the firmware through kies. I checked my root status using the app 'Root Checker Basic'. It says my phone as proper root access.

Yes, I have checked it. TB has been granted root permissions. TB successfully freezes all my system apps. But only one app - "T-Mobile My Accounts" unfreezes itself automatically after a while. I dont know how or why that happens. All my other system apps stay frozen except that one single app. And about uninstalling, none of the system apps can be uninstalled. When I run the batch operation to uninstall, it shows the progress bar but gets stuck at 0%. No progress at all.

my problem along with a screenshot
TB freezes all my stock apps. but as I mentioned earlier, one app - "T-Mobile My accounts" unfreezes itself after a while. And when I try uninstalling any stock apps, it just gets stuck. The progress bar doesnt move (show any progress). I am attaching a link to a screenshot about what happens.

Please if anyone has found the solution to this problem, I would be very very grateful.
PS. : As other members suggested, I have checked everything. The Chuck Norris mode is on. TB has root permissions. Everything seems to be in order.

Sounds like you are using a stock based ROM then. So you will have to live with that app. Otherwise you may cause problems by trying to delete or freeze it. Anybody that is determined to remove it, you can use a root based file explorer and delete the apk from the system/app folder. Backup the app somewhere by copying & pasting it in another folder, so you can replace it later if you start experiencing issues.
hello guys,
