Is it just me or is there no roaming at all on the Sprint HTC M8? I'm unlocked rooted s-on and using custom rooted stock rom. Have tried different roms with same results. When it gets bad signal the 3g is UNUSABLE. On my old Evo LTE I could use roam control to force roam, with M8 roam control does not work and just makes it get no signal. Ive made sure its not on sprint only and spent hours searching for answers.
So does anyone know why there's absolutely zero roaming onto verizon towers on this phone? I absolutely love this phone, but the problems that are arising are worrying me very much.
I'd also like to add I cannot s-off and get "whelp" error. Is it safe to assume sprint may be blocking roaming and if I had s-off I could change the build prop file to allow roaming?

Thanks for the info. Ive already tried the fix in post 7 link you mentioned, no luck.
Update: EPST and roam only (link 2) WONT WORK if you are still s-on. I have noticed "dataroaming" in build prop file is set to false, and when set to true, changes back after the required reboot. So what is going on here? Sprint blocking roaming on M8's or what?
If I had s-off I could change build prop file to roaming value = true (its set to false and wont change).... But should roaming not be enabled already? Why would sprint block roaming and is that what's going on?

hey, my evo is rooted and am running sense 3.5. this is the new rom i got because i thought it might help the problem. however, it didnt work. i am trying to use 3g but a message saying error code 67 keeps popping up. how do i get my 3g to work? i thought i had to update my profile, bu the rom doesnt have that so i installed a new rom, which didnt make a difference. great rom thought!
also, i dont like sprints service, which i why i want to use verizons network. i can roam manually, but i want to make sure i am using verizon and not another carrier. how do i check which tower or carrier i am using.
You need a sense 1.0 rom or a stock rooted rom to update prl and profile, you have to change your prl manually to force vzw 3g use it too much and sprint WILL boot you if you force roam normally you will only get 1x on whoever has the stronger signal in your area could be vzw could be usacellular could be metropcs could be any of sprints subsidiaries like virgin or boost manually changing your prl to a vzw one will guarantee vzw coverage BUT use too much data and get the boot use too many voice minutes get the boot and while using vzw they will use your anytime minutes no free mobile to mobile or nights and weekends so be prepared
We are legion, for we are many
prl
so how can i change my prl so it only roams on verizon?
if it is always roaming on verizon, will there be an additional charge for the 1x signal i will be getting?
i dont use that much 3g nor do i talk a lot. however, i text a lot! will that affect any additional charges?
i want to use vzw without any additional charges or having to get into any problems with sprint nor verizon with our contract.
If you continue to roam on Verizon you will receive a letter from Sprint telling you you need to cancel your service.

Got a USCC CDMA Wildfire S (Rooted, S-Off) that I just activated onto Page Plus. I sort of followed a guide to change the PRL and flashed the latest Page Plus PRL to the phone, manually entered my MDN, MSID and then did OTA programming. Talk and text work fine. I can't figure how to get data working - but I don't really want it as I use mostly Wifi.
Anyhow, as I said voice is working and I am sure that the correct PRL is in use - however, the bars on the phone are showing that I am roaming. I know that the area I am in is definitely roaming for USCC but not for Page Plus (Verizon). I am just wondering why it would still display as roaming even though I am flashed to a different PRL? I would like to get this fixed somehow as I would like to know for sure when I am truly roaming on Page Plus. I am on the stock USCC software. Any ideas?
UPDATE: Fixed this by flashing a modified Verizon PRL found in this thread.
Thanku thanku !!!!!

I understand that there are some hardware differences between the Sprint SPH-L900 and the US Cellular SCH-R950 such as the lack of sim card slot on the Sprint version.
Let's say I had an SCH-R950 and wanted to convert it it to use on the Sprint network. Forget the ESN issues. Can I simply flash the SPH-L900 radio to the SCH-R950? Are there any other hurdles to jump?
no you cannot do that. to get on the sprint network you need to add your esn and other info to their network. which they don't allow. so flashing a radio will do nothing besides mess up the phone a little just wanting to switch services i take it? there are a lot other networks you could get on.

I mentioned I was aware of the esn issues and to forget them.
I'm not concerned with making phone calls or having data just yet. Can I make the phone a Sprint phone? Accept Sprint updates, show the Sprint logo on boot up, see the Sprint network, etc?

i know you said it but... never mind
you can make it a partial sprint phone haha. here's what you can do. you can run the latest sprint LK8 update. you can show the sprint logo on boot up/shutdown. you can see the sprint network with a prl change. so basically you can do everything except logon to their network for data and voice calls. there's no way to get your phone on their network other than roaming from uscc or another carrier with roaming agreements with sprint. unless you do some unmentionable illegal activity.
if you want to get the sprint updates on your phone you will need to root and install cwm. come join us over here http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/forum/299-samsung-galaxy-note-2/
i can assist you with getting this all on your phone.

On my way! Thank you!
Someone help!
Sooo...I have a US cellular note 2...what fun things are you trying to do with yours? I'm merely looking for a sim unlock. ..but now I am curious
Well technicaly speaking, I guess if you can get recent PRL and Profile from Sprint and see there network, yiu could possibly change your IMEID / MDN to am existing phone from sprint "kinda like cloaning" and it would work. Your phone would just register on the network as whatever IMEID/MDN the phone was. Data would be available as well as voice.
Just speculation.

I am not interested in cloning at all. All I want to accomplish is exactly what I originally posted. Can anyone help me with that?
I need the PRL and Profile.
Didnt say you wanted to cloan. Its just kinda how the proccess would work lol.
Anyways, might wanna hit up a kernel dev, its going to require some base level work. I would say try flashing a stock kernel but you would risk a brick.

flashing their radio and kernels will do you know good. especially the kernels. you just need to get into the programming menus of the USCC phone. i've yet to find the codes for it. :/
I have the straight talk galaxy s3 that runs on Verizon towers...I have my contract 4G sim in the phone running a Verizon rom and everything does work but it roams everywhere I go and I don't get any 4G (disabled by straight talk). I was wondering if flashing a sprint rom would help at all? I seen the sticky saying not to flashing any rom from another carrier but I've flashed dozens of different roms and all has been good except the roaming. Anyways, just wanted to see if I could get some help here. Thanks in advance
What would it take to enable the 4G on this phone?

You might have to configure your APNs, or, if you haven't for a long time, you might need to update your modem, since you don't get that sort of update with custom ROMs. On my Virgin Mobile phone, I have to flash an APN fix on every new ROM, otherwise I just have 3G.

The straight talk version I have runs off Verizon towers and they have 4G disabled but the phone is suppose to be 4G enabled. The apn fixes didn't help. I'm wondering if this would need something like cdma workshop.
Ah, I see. Yeah, if the 4g is blocked on multiple ROMs, you'll need an app to fiddle with the sim card. Hopefully it's not hard blocked (a physical switch or the card is incapable of it even though the phone is)! I'd try to contact Straight Talk and/or see if it works on stock. If you're trying to get 4g without straight talk knowing, well, I don't know much about that, but CDMA workshop or something similar might be worth a shot.
I was thinking cdma workshop would be the answer but I don't know where they have it turned off. It sucks being confined to 3G when the phone is 4G compatible and straight talk will allow 4G on there Verizon network now.
Hello and thanks for reading,
I'm currently a T-Mobile subscriber, but I'm using an unlocked Verizon HTC One M8.
The phone is currently rooted has S-Off and Super CID.
The problem I have is that my data connection seems to constantly drop randomly.
Whether I'm on a call, sending or receiving group messages / MMS, or simply browsing the web.
I have to switch on airplane mode at least 20+ times a day to obtain a data signal.
My cellular network type is consistently on EDGE.
I CANT SEEM TO GET ANY 4G OR LTE.
Can someone point me in the correct path to fix the issue.
I used to have this issue, until I activated T-Mobile bands that are originally deactivated by Verizon from the factory. Maybe this was a huge coincidence, but I had the exact same problems until I did this. Also flashed LolliGPE at this time.
You can use CDMA tool to achieve this. There are numerous guides on how to do this on XDA, feel free to send a PM if you need more explanation or w/e.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to factory reset from stock recovery to correct any potentially corrupted NV items.
What I've found work good is install custom rom like viper one then enter your T-Mobile mms settings then use the app called 4g switch n click the drop down n select WCDMA n should be getting a constant four bar
Sorry for such a late reply, I am currently using ViperROM and still have troubles.
I've flashed several different roms all were affected, I've tried numerous firmware and radio's none have worked.
I'm not sure how to block CDMA network keys from functioning, care to elaborate a bit?
