[Q] Is there difference between N5120 & SGH-i467M - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

Just bought a used Note 8 with LTE. I thought that was a N5120, but in the ABOUT section it calls it an SGH-i467M.
What do I have?
Thank you

Goto: Settings -> About device -> Model number, and it will answer your question .
As far as I know the only difference between GT-N5120 and SGH-i467M is that SGH-i467M is the model number used by AT&T in the USA and Roger's in Canada. But take that with a grain of salt -- I'm a GT-N5110 (Wi-Fi) owner.

Thanks Spidey01. I hear conflicting things, some say I will brick it if I use the 5120 ROM (4.2.2) and some like you say it's a name. Not ready to take a chance yet.

You might be able to ask your national branch of Samsung support but I'm honestly not sure they would know the difference. Their websites not very clear as far as I know. Here in the USA, it's classified as the SGH-I467ZWAATT for the LTE model and AT&T only.
They offer the Note 10.1 2014 on 2 out of 4 major carriers (T-Mobile, VZW) and the Note Pro 12.2 on 2 out of 4 major carriers (AT&T, VZW).
When I bought my Note 8, I went with the Wi-Fi only GT-N5110 because the 3G based GT-N5100 cost an too much via Amazon, darn imports.

hmmm for a moment I had to look that 5120 model up. I see that it is the 3G, 4G/LTE, Wifi version. I only have the 5110 Wifi version.
Anyway, according to Samsung you have the AT&T US version.

Yup. It's a basterdized version of the 5120. There is no microphone, can't use any voice programs. They didn't want people using it to make phone calls. You wonder why I hate Rogers.
But I've also heard that if you try to put a 5120 ROM on, even if you use the Rogers LTE radio, you will brick it. Pretty sad. And they won't update it from the original 4.1.2.

No Microphone! hmm Well I guess I can cross out that model off my list. In another thread I mentioned that I plan on selling my wifi version and get the AT&T version and use it on T-Mobile but if there is no microphone than like you said, you can't make calls.
Guess I will have to get either the more expensive international version GT-N5100 or GT-N5120.

Just a point of clarification, there are several differences between the N5100 and i467 that make it unsuitable as a primary phone. Besides the lack of a microphone, there's no ear speaker. Most importantly, there is no phone app, and nobody has been able to develop one that works reliably (there's a thread dedicated to this topic). So calls on an i467 would be VoIP.
Lastly, the N5120 is not well suited for the US, it has different frequency bands than the N5100. If you're using AT&T's or T-Mobile's network, get the i467 or the N5100, there is no advantage to getting the N5120.

How would you make VoIP calls with no microphone?

I don't have the i467, but I assume calls can be made using a headset. Prior to the N5100, I had a Tab 7.7 and made calls via VoIP using the speakerphone or bluetooth headset.

Use an external microphone, i.e. 3.5mm or Bluetooth headset.

I467 has a mic

There is a mic in the AT&T SGH-I467 Note 8. Just that it has no radio for voice communication. I use Skype to make phone call voice over ip. I should wish AT&T is not all the users of this model. They have consistently delay the release of any Android updates since 4.1.2

Doncha love the info peeps put out about the I467 model. Makes me wonder who to trust on these threads.
I have an AT&T model right now in the UK doing very well mind you... VOIP works using Text Plus.
Just have to sort out blasted SIM cards. As Britain does not play well with Belgium and Belgium does not play well with Holland. Like You need a SIM for every country in Europe. Bloody hell!!!!

The AT&T SGH-I467 has a microphone and places VoIP calls superbly. I use it all the time. Please people. Do some research before presenting information that is not correct (i'm not saying your post was incorrect harry_fine). Incorrect info (models, specs, so forth) pollutes the threads and adds confusion to some already confusing topics for new users. -smiles-

Comparison
The following page may serve as a comparison between GT-N5100 and SGH-i467:
phonemore.com/compare/phones/samsung-galaxy-note-80-gt-n5100-16gb-vs-samsung-galaxy-note-80-4g-sgh-i467-16gb/814727
However it concludes that i467 is better than N5100 as the former is 4G LTE supported while the latter is 3G only. Dont know how much credibility in that.

If there is no microphone, how does the camera record with sound? Look directly above the power button, you will find the microphone (at least on the I467)

I know this is an old thread, but since no one has responded to my new thread, I will ask my question here.
I have an I467 (yes, it has a mic, but NO phone app. You use VOIP instead) that needs an LCD/digitizer replacement.
The price of this assembly is quite high if it is advertised specifically for I467. I guess they are the Samsung OEM part.
The LCD/digitzer for N5100 or N5110 are cheaper. However, will they work on I467? Many sellers on eBay claim their LCD/digitizer will work for *BOTH* N5110 and I467 because they think I467 is Wi-Fi only too just like N5110. This is obviously a mistake. I467 is 4G LTE. I have it working in my hand!
However, since LCD/digitizer is not a function related to radio, just because N5100 is 3G, it doesn't mean its LCD would work on I467. Likewise just because N5110 is Wi-Fi only, it doesn't mean the display won't work on I467. I see it more like a mechanical fitting issue. Does anyone know for sure?
Lastly, does N5120 have the exact same hardware as I467 but differ only in software (e.g it has been programmed with different frequency bands)?
p.s. unrelated subject but a hard learned lesson to share. I467 (AT&T) has a locked bootloader. My understanding is I467M (note the ending -M) is the Canadian version, which is not locked, but I am not sure. Now this bootloader is so restricted that even if you download a STOCK ROM specifically for I467 (AT&T) posted online, it can still brick the phone! It happened to my first I467. I got a message saying software not authorized by AT&T has been detected, but it was an I467 *STOCK* ROM! Obviously AT&T has several different I467 ROMs, and those online resources do NOT have all revisions. Unless you put the same revision that you get from OTA or Samsung Kies, the bootloader would still reject it.

SGH-I467 is the AT&T version. SGH-I467M (note the ending M) is the Canadian version. Many people are mixing these two, but the difference can get you!
The AT&T version has the bootloader locked, but the Canadian version is UNLOCKED.
It is very easy to root SGH-I467M but much harder with an SGH-I467!
With a locked bootloader, I had to try many different tools and finally was able to root with Kingo Root (not Kingroot).
GT-5120 has an earpiece and proximity sensor. SGH-I467 does NOT. I don't know if SGH-I467M has these 2 hardware since mine is SGH-I467.
Although all 3 are LTE, since GT-5120 is an international version, it wouldn't have the same frequency bands as SGH-I467 or SGH-I467M.

SGH-I467 is AT&T (no ending M), but SGH-I467M is made for the Canadian carriers.
Though they are almost identical, they do have one vital difference. SGH-I467 has the bootloader LOCKED while SGH-I467M does NOT.

Since both SGH-I467M and GT-N5120 have unlocked bootloader, I was thinking about buying a GT-N5120 motherboard and swapping it into my SGH-I467. I wasn't planning on buying a SGH-I467M motherboard because I couldn't find them. Though GT-N5120 has international frequency bands not available in the U.S., with an unlocked bootloader, I thought I could just swap in my carrier's, T-Mobile, modem code.
Now I don't think it is doable at all. I have a Canadian Galaxy S4, SGH-I337M (bootloader unlocked, unlike the AT&T version). I tried to download T-Mobile's modem to my S4 thinking it may give me better data rate. Odin prompted Fail! (Auth) and S4 showed Secure Check Fail! After some googling, I realize regardless of unlocked bootloader, these phones/tablets are engineered to check if authorized modem codes are being flashed. I know for sure my S4's bootloader is unlocked because I have installed TWRP for recovery.
Since GT-N5120 has international frequency bands, turning it into a North American tablet is DOA if another carrier's modem code cannot be installed. If anyone questions why a custom ROM can be flashed to a phone/tablet with unlocked bootloader, it is because a custom ROM seldom comes with the modem code!

Though I don't live in US, I don't think you could add phone feature by changing the rom.
I think you would have to have the international version that permits calls. I'm not sure if that will work in the states though because of frequencies etc.

If you're looking at the AT&T branded Note 8, SGH-i467, there's a thread in this forum on getting the phone capability enabled. I don't think anyone has been totally successful doing that:

If VoIP will sufficiently meet your calling needs, you'll be fine with that model. If you don't want to deal with the idiosyncrasies associated with VoIP, get the international version, GT-N5100. The LTE frequencies won't work on AT&T's or T-Mobile's networks so you'll be at HSPA+ speeds, but it is a true 8" smartphone.

I bought one from amazon and it had calling capability. Should be the same for all of them.
The are different variants of the Note 8. Some have phone capability and some do not. The most common variant sold in the US (in Best Buy and big box stores) is WiFi only. The model sold in AT&T stores has LTE, but the phone functionality has been removed. The N5100, available thro some Amazon vendors, its a true smartphone, but only works on AT&T and T-Mobile's HSPA+ network.

I use a note 8 LTE as my phone here in UK and am absolutly loving it....had to change from 3 mobile to O2 as 3 dont allow phone sims in tablets, seems O2 do cos its been working fine for about 3-4 weeks.
Rather than look foolish with a tablet next to my ear I purchased a galaxy gear which is not fully working as I am on stock 4.2.
Got rid of my note 2 and note 10.1 and have just a note 8, best thing I ever did!!!

Verizon Note 8 on AT&T - Current Status?

Dear Friends,
Hope everyone is well. As a side effect of having wealth of knowledge, reading through the forums here I believe the answer to my question is still, "yes" however, I would still like to confirm and make sure:
If I buy a Verizon Note 8 today, whether it's from Ebay, Swappa, Craigslist and etc and whether the user did or did NOT update to the latest Bootloader version and firmware version (Oreo)... Is it still possible to use some combination of firmware, Bootloader, CSC and etc to convert the Verizon Note to an AT&T Note or the unbranded US Note 8 and still have unrestricted, full functionality on AT&T?
If, yes, indeed, can you please point me to the right guide and files so that I can go through my purchase?
Appreciate your help in advance!
Any input, friends? Trying to buy a Note 8 based on your expert opinions ?... Thanks!
I converted my VZW note 8 to AT&T and used it flawlessly for a few months. This was before Oreo was released. I've since switched it back to VZW.
While on AT&T, volte & wifi calling worked as well.

It is always best to get the carrier brand you intend to be on....
But if you can't pass on a deal, yes you can follow switching carrier guide to turn a Verizon Note into an ATT Note....
On the one hand if you need to move between carriers or around the world, it be better to get the Verizon phone even for the AT&T network because it gives you CDMA + Quad-Band GSM. If you are going to stick with one carrier, if you get a newer phone, it will probably support 100% of their current and soon-to-be bands while the Verizon might only support 90%. That might make a difference in aggregation. Depending on the company, they might not allow you to use aggregation or VOLTE or Wi-Fi calling without their branded phone, although ajent above has had luck with at least 2 out of 3 of those by using a Verizon phone on an AT&T network.

Unlocked vs Tmobile/Flashing Carrier

I'm curious as to what doesn't work when you purchase an unlocked version vs Tmobile branded? Im told you may have issues with wifi calling/rcs/video calling/and visual voice mail....
2. How easy would it be once you get the unlocked version to flash the carrier software to make everything work and then flash back to original if needed to be for resale or warranty
The reason im asking is that samsung is giving a bigger refund on the unlocked version...

Note 9 was able to do this and I did it. I don't see a reason why you shouldn't be able o do it in Note 10+ once carrier firmware become available to be downloaded.
I pre-ordered the unlocked version myself and I have AT&T so it should be as easy as waiting for the carrier firmwares to become available on SamMobile and flashing with Odin. My interest is now with DeX supported with microsoft if Odin is even neccessary to flash firmwares anymore?
from what i can see on sprint i think they are using the qualcomm chip, i could be wrong, its labeled as SDM 855 Octa-Core SDR8150 and when searching that in google qualcomm documentation on the 855 pops up
Very curious about this myself. I preordered the unlocked version because that gave me more value for my trade in. I'm curious if I get the unlocked version and flash TMobile carrier software. Will I then get tmobile updates ota?
It's been the same for years now, hardware wise phones are the same, you'll need princey odin to flash unlocked/carrier firmwares. I buy unlocked and flash the carrier unlocked firmware. No bloat but it has the carrier specific radio. I prefer the native caller Id, no bloat, and the RTT over the carrier bloat and video calling. Google duo is better anyway

Are you TMO or ATT? I have accounts with both.
I know WiFi Calling, which is what I really need as far as carrier goes, is usually more difficult with ATT.
If you are TMO can you get WFC to work without flashing carrier?
How long do you usually have to wait for the carrier firmware to come out?

Wifi calling has no issues on unlocked firmware with tmo. At&t I'm not sure but if you flash the att csc and and cp files, I do believe that's all it takes. I believe you need to flash the at&T AP file.
My Note 9 is unlocked. Using on T-MOBILE with no issues with WiFi calling. I am not able to use the stock visual voicemail though which I would prefer. With T-MOBILE I'm forced to use their visual voicemail which really sucks. Does anyone else know if they're is a way to use the stock visual voicemail on T-Mobile?

When I inserted my SIM it appeared to automatically install the T-Mo firmware, but that's the problem.; it forces me to use the T-Mo VM (which absolutely sucks) and not able to use the Samsung VM which is pretty nice. I had previously used the Note 9 on Verizon with my work SIM and I was able to use the stock VM. When I switched to T-Mo it forced me to use the T-Mo VM. I can't see a way to get back to the stock VM unless I'm missing something...

I go into the phone app call or SIM settings and find the call forwarding settings:
Then I do they conditional forwarding to my Google Voice number (I then, after setting up Google Voice, turn on Do Not Disturb for Google Voice, so I don't get there phone ringing twice)

^^ What he said. Do not make the mistakes I, and many others made in the past - do NOT buy a US version from T-Mo, or from Samsung USA website, unlocked or otherwise. All USA versions are snapdragon based, and will have permanently locked bootloader - no rom flashing of any kind, no custom recoveries or improved radios. What you need is SM-N975F/DS Exynos version (unless you use CDMA carrier like Verizon or Sprint). It will have the same bands supported as Snapdragon one, with the exception of band 71, which you dont really need. T-Mo's B12 serves the same function as B71 (extended range LTE), and T-Mo made the tech available only in limited number of cities anyway. In all likelihood, by the time they roll it out in your city - you're gonna be thinking about buying Note 12 or 13.
Don't worry about software features like voice calling or any other - with all the custom roms and development available for Exynos version you'll be able to find yourself a rom that has any features you like and then some.

This is great advice ..... IF ..... you are looking to root and/ or do custom ROMs. But having done every release S9+/Note9/S10+ with Exynos it's NOT always that easy to get the CSC stuff right and working (and the development is often done by people who could care less about NA CSC because they don't live there).
Root / Unlocked bootloader = the Exynos device, like you said.
So what appears to be the answer (for the thread, assuming no root) after looking at all the answers in this and a couple of other threads is that the Unlocked US Samsung device is the same (or can, in worst case scenario, by Odin flashing carrier firmware, be made to do) device functionally as the carrier devices --- calling features, etc.
For me, the difference was going to be $300 bigger discount.

Don't worry about software features like voice calling or any other - with all the custom roms and development available for Exynos version you'll be able to find yourself a rom that has any features you like and then some.

That's only true if you want to unlock the bootloader and root. The OP was merely asking about flashing carrier firmware on the US Unlocked version, which does not require root or an unlocked bootloader.

For me, the difference was going to be $300 bigger discount.

the bigger trade in value was a deciding factor as well for me...Well we weill see how it goes on the 23rd
I want to be able to root and flash TWRP on my Note 10+, but when i did this on my Note 8 i bought the N950N which was the korean exynos version and CRC support for t-mobile sucked ass, i want to make sure
A) what model do i buy for
- Rooting and stuff
- and best t-mobile network compatibility without going through all the dumb stuff

Same here. When Samsung stopped hobbling the OS, and added more features I didn't need root anymore. The extra $300 was my deciding factor. I have the unlocked Note 9. The only thing I have noticed aside from slower updates is that the camera sound can't be turned off independent of the global phone sound. Everything else works fine and I haven't noticed anything useful missing.

I was actually giving advice to all folk, considering purchasing, not just the OP....Also, just curious - how do you Samsung's locked bootloader on the unlocked Note (I hope you know 'unlocked' means SIM unlocked only) will accept firmware, signed by T-Mobile? It's not a given Samsung original bootloader, untainted by carrier branded modifications, accepts carrier signed ROMs. You may need to be using T-Mobile version of the bootloader, for it to accept T-Mobile signed images.

Note 10+ Exynos Variant

Where can the Note 10+ Global Exynos variant be purchased? Can it be purchased on the Samsung website like the US variants can?
Trying to grab the Exynos variant since it’s going to have the development potential.

I have purchased Exynos Variants for a bunch of different Samsung phones over the years. the "F" variant, N975F will work on ATT and or TMobile with no issues. (or N975F/DS)
If you want to buy, I have used two different places to buy in the past - both offer the Note 10 now -
Clove UK
or EBAY
Clove is an excellent source, fast shipping - good customer service and the major sellers on EBAY are also very good. I have used "Never MSRP" and I have heard that there are several others that I have heard are very good and reliable.
Whatever you choose, good luck
What version of the Note 10+ w/ an unlocked bootloader would be the best choice to use for Verizon?

Verizon is cdma and the exynos variants are usually gsm only (AT&T and T-Mobile).
I doubt you'll be able to find what you're looking for.
yeah if you wan't an international version they will always be GSM where some of the US still uses CDMA. so whatever you bought you would need to check it supports the signal on network you want to use it on. also using an international phone you generally need to use a SIM from the local market for a set amount of time, my UK unlocked Note 9 actually has a disclaimer on the box it needed 5 minutes of calls with a european SIM before it would accept an international one, so that is also something you will have to watch out for or you end up having to pay to get an international sim and a several minute call at international rates to unlock the device for a US SIM.
I also use dual sim (F/DS) varieties of Samsung phones, they generally work fine on ATT in the US but they do miss some bands, specifically band30 which means that sometimes I have low speed or no data at all. Also, you won't get VoLTE unless enabled by your carrier. It's a trade-off. Of course you also won't get 5G until there's a dual SIM 5G variant.

Verizon is ending CDMA support at end of this year. So it doesn't matter with Verizon anymore.
It should be noted that with Exynos F models, USA Carrier Aggregation does not work properly.
While the phone will function properly, it will not have the same network speeds as an equivalent USA model.
For example, I had in my possession a N960F and did a speed test next to a N920T (Note 5) and I was getting like 70-90Mbps down on the Note 5 and was only getting 15-30Mbps on the N960F in the exact same spots.
I've tested this many times and actually also with the N950F before that.
I'm only posting about this just to make people aware. I'm, sure there are some that will take the trade-off of slower speeds to gain the ability of root and development, but there are also some out there that prefer that their speeds not be gimped.
This has been discussed on many XDA threads in the Note 8, S9, Note 9, S10 forums for a couple of years now and can be duplicated exactly as mentioned.
If anyone has figured out a way to get proper USA CA on F model phones I'm one of the first that would love to hear about it.
I'm sure @iunlock would also.

Yes indeed.
Along with @DeeXii around the same time I had the F variant of the Note 8 along side my T-Mobile Note 8 and ran numerous tests.
TL;DR, in areas with a lot of cell towers (in the city etc...) you won't notice a big difference (IF) your within a strong range (close) from a tower. When this happens you're connected to a single strong frequency.
While travelling on the road with both devices at the time it was very apparent that the F model was not handing off well (tower to tower), while the TM variant as expected did just fine.
It is in my opinion that those who have claimed that CA works on international variants are being tricked by getting real good speeds due to being connected to a strong signal from a near by tower / area. It's convincing I know...
We're convinced unless proven otherwise that CA is an issue with the international Exynos variants, whether it's the F or Korean N models. Yes, I'm aware of some N models showing icons that may say otherwise, however, it is yet to be seen if the CA is truly working as most people who have the international variants, often don't have the US variants handy to be able to compare them side by side under different conditions.
Believe me... I want to see CA to work lol.... I really really do, because I'd rather have an Exynos variant 100% over a locked down US variant.
As I wait for my Note 10+ to arrive tomorrow, as excited as I am for a new device, since it can not be rooted there's still an uncertainty in the back of my mind that doesn't bring me much assurance that I'll be 100% sold rocking a non rooted phone due to my apps that require root, tweaks that I do etc...
Engineering leak, oh if you're out there please show yourself.... :silly:

That's not accurate at all.
The Galaxy S10+ F model did 100% work with at least 2 bands carrier aggregation when used on T-Mobile and AT&T. Bands 4+2 on T-Mobile and 12/17+2 on At&t were aggregated. SOME models that were running a European CSC code from European countries did NO indeed have CA enabled in the US. Phones with Asias CSC codes had 2 band CA enabled in the US. It never supported more other bands CA in the US.
I experimented with this myself by flashing the main OXM ROM and then using a local country SIM immediately after flashing to change the CSC code of the firmware to one that SIM region. Every time it was a European CSC, CA would not longer work.
It's important to note that Wifi calling and VOLTE both worked on T-Mobile with the F model out of the box. This started with the S10 and i expect the same to be with the note 10.

Excellent. Please provide us some more info then showing your claims.
What I have stated is indeed accurate as it was based on my own tests with the Note 8 lol...many have done the same as well. This issue regarding CA has been hashed to pieces in several threads with a lot of folks involved in showing concrete proof that it did not work with the phones we've tested it with at the time.
Show us with screen shots, detailed description where the phones were tested etc... that CA works on the F variant and we'll throw a party....
You have to remember that there are several of us that really want CA to work... it's not like we're against it.
Again, we've seen this claim before and it was due to the user not factoring in that they were in a "good signal area near a tower," where they were connected to a strong signal that made it seem like CA was working in respect to the bands the international phone supported... I'm not saying this is the case with what you have experienced, but until we can see proof.... with this situation it's all heresay unless proven otherwise... therefore...
What you've said is not accurate at all, because we have no proof... so please provide proof.
@DeeXii I'll tag you as I'm sure you're just as curious...
Looking forward to hearing back... :highfive:
Well, just received the N975FD Dual SIM model and i'm testing it with AT&T and Project FI in the US (which uses T-Mobile).
This unit rung the Singapore firmware. As i stated in my last reply, Carrier aggregation DOES work with BOTH networks.
Here are some observations for those are interested in getting the international version and use it in the US:
AT&T:
Surprisingly, VOLTE works out of the box with AT&T. This is a first for the international unlocked model. My AT&T SIM already had this feature provisioned on my account and it just worked when I placed the SIM into the Note 10+.
HD calling works as well (tested a call to another AT&T customer and a Verizon customer).
The device can do 2xCA with bands 2 + 12 and bands 2 + 4.
Speed is almost the same as the US model when using these frequencies.
No WiFi calling
Project Fi (T-Mobile).
VOLTE works.
HD calling just between T-Mobile customers.
The device can do 2xCA with bands 2 + 4. I have not seen it do 4+12 or 2+12 yet.
No WiFi calling (but that's normal to any phone that's not a pixel with Fi).
Verizon:
To be tested still
Like I mentioned before, if your international version comes from a European country, for some reason carrier aggregation no longer works. If you then flash an Asian firmware, have an Asian country SIM inside the phone when you flash the firmware and do a factory reset after you flash, carrier aggregation will start working with a US SIM afterward.

It's not the model that causes this - it's your lack of the correct CSC. If it has a compatible CSC, it works just fine.
I'm currently debating rooting my new Note 10+ 5g to port over the T-Mobile CSC from a T-Mobile model like I did with the Note 8.

That is 100% incorrect.
While flashing the CSC is a must on any locked or F model Samsung phone to enable all carrier features like video calling and VoLTE. It does not give the CA tables that are in the snap dragon's baseband to an Exynos device.
There for if you are on a US carrier and have a N975U/U1 next to a N975F, the speeds on the N975F will be significantly less than the N975U/U1. I'm surprised you have entered this debate again with these views considering your experience in the matter. Once again we have obtained an F model and tested against US variants and have concluded that as of now, simply flashing the CSC from T-Mobile or any US variant does not enable USA Carrier Aggregation on Exynos models. I am not trying to be mean or agumentitive here, but when you have people ordering from overseas potentially running into situations where they cannot return a device, it is very important to have 100% accurate information.
It should be noted that while on 5G it may be different because I do not think 5G uses the MIMO type actions of carrier aggregation. But also with that said. 5G phones do not use 5G 100% of the time. (See how 5G works for more info)
TLR - Yes unlocked international models "work" on US carriers. However their speeds will be much slower than on a US variant because international variants cannot do the Carrier Aggregation that US carriers need for full data speeds.

I'm not sure where you got that information, but quite a few of us posted screenshots in the Note 8 days showing the CA tables on our N and F variants. I believe the CA combo info is within the keystrings.dat file but don't quote me on that.
Also - nobody should root their phone (needed to flash USA CSCs on N and F variant Samsung phones) and expect to be able to return the device afterwards. We are taking the risk anyway by ordering an overseas model phone.

I'm getting my info from several tests done by myself and several others.
The tests on our Note 10 devices match exactly the tests we have done on Note8 and Note 9 international Exynos F models that people have been testing for years that simply do not do US Carrier Aggregation, even with the US CSC.
We have had two Note 10 F models, an unlocked US model, and a T-Mobile US Model. At the same exact location, my old Note 5 N920T pulls higher download speeds (because of Carrier Aggregation) than my brother in law's N975F.
Go find a T-Mobile N975U and see for yourself, however, I am not sure where you are located. I am sure there are some places in the country that might produce the same speeds on their phones simply because the towers in that area are older and do not have all of the bands some major markets have.
In those locations, you will probably see average download speeds anyways. In this situation, an Exynos model is acceptable as the speeds will be the same. However, when traveling the data will still be gimped obviously.
Bottom line is that if a person in a major market gets an N975F and flashes the T-Mobile CSC they will still have gimped data speeds when compared to a US snapdragon variant, period.
Believe me, there is no one more than myself and @iunlock that want CA to work 100% 1:1 with the N975U model but it's just not the case. It is what it is.
Also, it should be noted that CA does not just affect download speeds. It can also affect signal reliability in certain situations.

Hey Kalm_Traveler. Long time no chat.
Please do that. I just picked up a SM-N975F/DS and would love to see that happen. I remember your old N8 thread well.
To update my earlier reply, just tested the FD model with Verizon.
VOLTE works out of the box.
HD voice works.
I've seen 2 x CA with bands 4 and 2 and then 5 and 2.
So while we are both going to see 3 x CA or 4 x CA, it can def do 2 x CA on the 3 carriers I tested.
What surprised me that VOLTE works out of the box for all 3 carriers.View attachment 4819270

N9750/DS (dual Sim) exynos chip, flash tmo csc?

I'm in a market for dual Sim note 10 plus from overseas. Possible to flash that phone to use tmobile csc (enable volte, wifi calling, etc) without unlocking bootloader or trigger Knox?
As far as I know, the 9750 is snapdragon variant, not exynos

If your goal is VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling on T-Mobile, then there is no need to flash the CSC because T-Mobile has opened up their network for unlocked device. I am getting those functionalities on my dual sim S8+ and also Note 10+ without flashing anything.

Actually, both of my phone works without calling in. I think they opened it up sometime last month. Samsung Pay is going to be dependent on your firmware. I am using Australian firmware on S8+ and Taiwan firmware on my Note 10+ which allows me to use Samaung Pay in US (without the rewards program). If you root and flash CSC, Samaung Pay is gone forever due to tripping Knox.

hi,
how is your experience in term of data connection with Note 10+ exynos on T-Mobile network ? when i check details specification of Note 10+ exynos (N975f) on sammobile, it is missing a lot some of T-Mobile's LTE radio frequencies, https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-10-plus/specs/SM-N975F/ . even way less than Note 8 exynos LTE bands .

I don't know if the F variant has fewer bands than the N variant but my N is only missing I think band 66 for Tmobile.
Also I'm not sure about wifi calling since that is not something locked down in their end anyway. The device needs to have software and CSC settings to enable it, both of which are absent on at least the N variant and historically F variant as well since neither device was meant for the USA market.
VoLTE works for me, but no wifi calling since both pieces are missing.

I do not have the Exynos Note 10+, I have the Snapdragon Note 10+ but it is also missing similar T-Mobile bands (66,71). You can check the LTE bands on the Samsung UK website and see that the phone covers majority of the T-Mobile bands. Due to the missing bands and lack of proper carrier aggregation support, you might experience slower speed and/or poor reception in rural area. But general usage is not reallg affected unless you are downloading a large file or constantly streaming in 4K.

But general usage is not reallg affected unless you are downloading a large file or constantly streaming in 4K.

thank you for your confirmation. i feel upgrading to N975f on t-mobile network will like be in a situation you pay more for less capable device. but it will depends on where you are going to use it most.
OOT, i am wondering why samsuck doesn't make one device with unlockable BL using exynos/SD to rule most (if not all) LTE frequencies, i.e like newer iphone A2104, to capture more customers if there is no technical boundaries

Also I'm not sure about wifi calling since that is not something locked down in their end anyway. The device needs to have software and CSC settings to enable it, both of which are absent on at least the N variant and historically F variant as well since neither device was meant for the USA market.
VoLTE works for me, but no wifi calling since both pieces are missing.

on my Note8 n950fd/s, wifi calling & HD calling (VoLTE) work fine after CSC mod using tekhd CSC DETONATOR INT, tested on t-mobile and their relevant MVNOs (Metro, Simple). so it is just a matter of CSC configuration, isn't it ?

I am guessing if Samsung can have their way, they would push their Exynos chipset everywhere but due to carrier restrictions they end up having Qualcomm in the US and China. I just wish they did all Qualcomm phones like Sony and have carrier aggregation tables from all of the regions available. I believe this is also a problem with iPhone as well but its less relevant for US users - iPhone that can do band 71 does not cover band 28, and only the HK version of the iPhone have physical dual sim.
The good news is that T-Mobile just recently open up their VoLTE, VoWifi to unlocked international so there is no need to jump through hoops (root and flashing CSC) to get those services. Just hoping AT&T would follow before they shutdown their 3G network.

Not just CSC config. If you look at his pack (his is what got me started on the N variant patch I made for the Note 8) there are a few Tmobile system apps that are taken from a US Tmobile rom. The only difference between the F and N in that sense (and the reason his zip wouldn't work on N devices) was that the F had a couple general vowifi files that were absent on the N, and for some reason the N's included digital TV system interfered with the VPN connection that Tmobile wifi calling creates. My N patch basically took the CSC files, the same Tmobile files as TeKHD's patch and those additional framework binaries which were already present in F firmware and deleted the Korean TV thing to stop it from blocking the wifi calling connection.

The reason they don't bring it here is that their exynos modem doesn't support CDMA (Verizon and sprint), whereas Qualcomm's do. Most of the world runs on GSM but since we've moved on to LTE and 5G hopefully this will no longer be an issue in the future.
Also, Tmobile didn't ever have those locked. My Note 8 got VoLTE stock, just no wifi calling for the above mentioned reason. Also for that reason you still need the Tmobile CSC patches to add those missing software pieces even on Pie.

wow... thank you for the education.
I noticed that the CSC mod is for the note 9, Can anyone please direct me to a tutorial on how to set the scs for t-mobile on my note 10+, sm-n975f/ds?
This is the first I was able to find anything about the CSC mod using tekhd CSC DETONATOR INT. Thanks for mentioning it here!
On the Note 10 + (SM-N9750/DS) VOLTE and WiFi Calling work on the stock CSC (BRI or TGY).
Ok thanks for letting me know bro!
Sorry But I just looked through the CSC list and did not see anything listed that contains the phrase (BRI OR TGY)
Sorry I am such and noob and probably do not know what your referring to, ok
I noticed that a few the oem csc have (t-mobile) none are English would anyone of these still work? I am assuming yes, especially because before I put the Brazilian csc I remember glancing at the current firmware that was on the phone and it was not t-mobile, I don't remember exactly I think it was UK Vodafone and it still worked until I got to Brazil I suppose it started to malfunction because I did not have a Brazilian Sim card to use lol

In About Phone under Software Information. Here's mine. It was originally a BRI device but I flashed the TGY CSC on it hence is says TGY, TGY, TGY, BRI. Wifi calling and VOLTE work on either CSC.
Thanks for the reply.
Hmmmmmm. But on sammobile I still do not see TGY OR BRI
May I please ask one last question, where did you get this csc file from?
