OK so I have been searching all over the internet and I haven't found an EXACT answer on how to do this. I am TRYING to wipe cache partition on my LG Optimus G Pro, reason being is I cannot download 4.4.2 even after doing a full unroot via SuperSU. It still says my phone is suspected in rooting and cannot download update. I read on one site that doing a wipe cache partition may allow the update. When I try volume down + power, I get a screen that says 'factory data reset, press power key to confirm, any other key will cancel'. When I press volume up + power, it boots into safe mode. So I am quite frustrated by now. Any help would be great, thanks!

I have tried a hard reset with the volume up button + power button until vibrates then switching screen lock on and off. I see the Erasing user data...Erasing cache... come up then I let go and all it does is gives me the acer logo and proceeds to bootup like normal. I have tried about 100 times lol
I am just trying to figure out how to reset the password on the device I purchased it and it was locked.
I have tried the update.zip thing which didn't work (see below)
Erasing Cache before SD update
SD Update cmd: recovery
--update-package=SDCARD: update.zip
Booting recovery kernel image
Recovery verified failed ...
The bootloader is: Bootloader v0.03.13-ICS: Starting fastboot USB download protocol
I am not sure if the bootloader is locked or not and I don't know if the tablet is rooted how would I check?
Thanks.

Sounds like someone relocked the boot loader with a custom recovery installed. It'll say unlocked if it is.
You could let it boot android and see if you can still adb in and get it unlocked again, if its failing to boot android and recovery you bought a tablet someone bricked.

Yeah I think it's bricked luckily the guy at the pawn shop said I could take it back within 30 days since I purchased it with the unknown password on it.
I managed to get a 32gb Nexus 7 from craigslist for $170 today so happy with that.
Thanks!!

I'm having the exact same issue. I'll let you know what I figure out. I've had mine rooted previously, but have since done a stock ICS update, which removed root. I let the kid play with it for a year and now it's in the exact state you describe. I'm hoping to get it going so I don't need to buy him another tablet!
did you fix this?? im having this issue
attempted to install rom. it said failed so I did a wipe but i think i wiped it wrong. i deleted cache dalvik cache and factory data reset. phone turns on to samsung logo but wont go past that. it wont go into recovery or dowload mode either.help please
Reinstall the ROM duh but first power off then hold vol up/down plus power till c Samsung logo let go of power until u enter recovery
HOODtypeISH
When I reboot with POWER + VOLUME + HOME I reach a menu with the options:
apply update from ADB
apply update from external storage
wipe date/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update form cache
I then tried the first two to see if they are (act like) download mode but in Odin the tablet was not discovered. It is however discovered when the tabet plugged-in and is switched-on normally. So I guess the driver should be ok!?
I have rooted many phones and tablets but know not much detail because I am more a "Cyanogen Mod" kind of guy.
Please be so kind to let me know at which step I make the mistake.
Thank you

Hi! You have reboot into stock recovery. Try volume down instead of volume up together with Home & Power buttons. Good luck!

Hey, thank you. I thought I had already tried all possible combinations. But as it turns out, your suggestion put me on the right path.

Okay first, in order to get out of the bootloop. Do a Volume up + Power to reboot the phone and after you see the screen go off switch to Volume down + power. After this step you should be in the bootloader (HBOOT). Now use the volume keys to navigate to 'Recovery' and press the power button to select it. Once in the recovery try wiping the Dalvik Cache and /cache partition again and reboot into System and see if it boots properly. If it doesn't then do a clean reflash of the GPE ROM.
Also in order to troubleshoot what caused this, can you give a specific list of the system apps you removed or any other possible things you could've did to cause this?
Can someone help I factory reset instead of using twrp by mistake. I still have twrp and 4.4 stock backup that restores but won't boot. I'm on Verizon lte I still have twrp but can't restore any backup and internal sd reads 0 mbs
Get into recovery then restore backup. Hold power and volume down until LG logo. Then let go and then immediately press hold power volume down and volume up. All 3 held until it reads factory reset. Volume up 2x should enter recovery. YouTube video show this also.
I can in recovery only . No matter what I flash, restore or wipe it won't boot
I guess not
