If you inslall the official 4.3 or 4.4 OTA it will come with knox. The only way around it is to flash a custom rooted rom either 4.3 or 4.4.
OR you can take the 4.3 OTA then the 4.4 OTA then root and manually remove the knox files with Root Explorer etc. You can take the OTA's but what's the point in doing that if you want to have root and no knox? Just flash a custom rooted no knox 4.4 ROM. Much easier.

Hi All,
In ATT S3 i was in 4.1.2 stock. Later rooted and tried various rooms for the past several months. right now using Quantum 3.15.
Having a question on doing 4.3 update in stock.
1. Is there any benefits doing so ?
Steps i think i need to do. Please correct if im wrong.
1. Use odin and go to 4.1.2 then with Kies update to 4.3
2. Root
3. Use quantum or any other custom roms.
Is there any drawback in doing it.
Installing a 4.3 OTA update will install Knox. If you trip the Knox counter, your warranty will become void.
De-bricking with the 4.3 bootloader becomes more difficult in my opinion because you can't just use Odin to flash back to stock 4.1.1 or 4.1.2.
Some XDA members have also had difficulty rooting a stock 4.3 ROM.

OK I found out how to upgrade just had to change modem mk2 and now I have 4.4.2 on my Samsung s4. Thanks
Updating the Note 2 is so much more confusing then my old Atrix or Nexus 7.
Currently I'm running
Bell SGH-I317M
4.3 on MK5
Stock, rooted and Knox counter still at 0x0
No custom recovery
I'm looking to get to rooted stock 4.4 without flagging Knox.
Just looking for a brief explaination about the best way to go about it.
Do I need to update my bootloader first? Are there any images I can flash though Odin or do I have to install a custom reovery?
Thanks
Hi,
I got a note 2 on 4.3 withouth root or anything. is there a way or what is the best way to get to 4.4.2 with root without tripping knox?
Is it possible to root P605 with Lollipop 5.1.1 without tripping knox.
What is the best metod to root P605 with 5.1.1?
Not possible to root any samsung device without tripping knox...
Easiest way, if you want a custom rom, is to flash twrp on it then flash the custom rom.
You now need a modified kernel or boot image to run a rooted 5.1.1 rom.
It was possible on kitkat (older release) with towelroot.

Yep, but that exploit was fixed with later versions of Kitkat. Now we need to actually modify the boot image or the kernel to get root access on Lollipop 5.1.1.
With Google pressing for security on Android it may, in the future, get very hard to root Android and that will be a crying shame...
