Amazon Keyboard Cases - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Accessories

Anyone use or own the ~$35 bluetooth keyboard cases for the Note 2014? I would love to get one of the fancy belkin ones but the price is way high. I have a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse I use for SMS/MMS and productivity apps at school but its not very practical because its not attached so it gets clumsy. I could easily ditch the mouse if those things are worth a darn. I saw some good reviews but wanted to see if anyone here has had good luck with them.

Mini Keyboard

While I'm waiting for my Xoom to arrive I've been checking out some accessories.
I came across a mini bluetooth keyboard. Looks pretty decent. Just wanted to share.

That looks sweet. Thanks.
Looks nice, and working with a PS3 as well makes it pretty attractive.
I just wonder if it would really be easier to type in than this on screen deal, especially with swype and swift key coming.

Does anyone have the Moto keyboard? If so, is it worth it?
I'm dreaming of sitting on my couch with my xoom hooked up to my tv while I'm sitting out the couch surfing the web, watching youtube stuff, etc. Somewhat of a google tv experience I guess. That would be awesome!

Everyone has a different preference and style. For me, I would like to keep my tablet on my end table and having a detached physical keyboard like this would make it much easier to type something instead of grabbing the tablet, placing it on my lap and typing on the screen.

The moto keyboard is worth every cent!! It is uber thin and light, I am very pleased with it. It really helps with the whole webtop theme, but you still need to touch the screen for a few things unfortunately.
Did you order that? I've been researching for a good one. I came across that one initially, but I'm pretty sure I read on some site that it didn't work well with Android.
I found this one that I'm thinking about getting
www sourcinggate com / portable-bluetooth-transfer-wireless-keyboard-mouse-combo-p-12376 . html
Would be cool if the mouse worked too
No I didn't order it. I am leaning toward the OEM keyboard because it has the shortcut keys and I can order with 25% off.
Although I would really like a trackpad for scrolling. I'm undecided on what to do.
I just want my Xoom to arrive. I have to wait until the 2nd...
I'm trying to find a cheap one that I could easily carry around with me. As thin as the moto keyboard is, its not pocket size.
Mine arrives today. I can't wait.
i bought that keyboard a few months back. it works well enough, but the build quality is a little shoddy. a almost pried it apart once when trying to insert the micro usb charge cable.
Does the xoom have HID or just keyboard compatibility? I have had that keyboard for a while and it is OK but not my favorite. I have a second, slightly wider one with a touchpad that I prefer when doing presentations.

Have you used it while mirrored to your tv? Thats what I think I'd mainly use it for.
If it works well while mirrored I think I'll pick it up.

Xoom does have HID Bluetooth profile. I'm currently using my Apple BT keyboard and works just fine.
I have been using the Motorola Bluetooth keyboard with my XOOM and it works perfectly! Although it isn't "pocket size", it fits really nicely in my backpack. It's pretty thin and of great build quality. It would be nice if it had a "trackpad" but the android navigation buttons at the top of the keyboard are brilliant!
Thanks for the info. I decided to go with the Moto keyboard. I liked it had the android keys and shortcuts.
Just waiting for my xoom now....
How do you link an Apple BT keyboard to the Zoom?

I am interested in using my 2009 Apple bluetooth keyboard on my Zoom when it arrives. When pairing, does the Zoom return a link code to enter to link the keyboard? The reason I ask is that I have attempted to link this keyboard to my Motorola Atrix but to complete the pairing, it asks you to enter a code but does not give you one to enter and none of the usual ones work. If I remember correctly, on an Apple-to Apple link, the computer gives you a 5 digit code to enter.
Thanks!
The Logitech DiNovo Mini works too. Doesn't have all the shorcuts though but is very portable.
the best bluetooth keyboard i have used, on any device, is the microsoft 6000. hands down beats the apple offering and others. only like 30 bucks too. especially when egronomics is brought into consideration.

[Q] Bluetooth Keyboard other than Moto

Is there a keyboard that can be used with the Xoom that is actually the same size as the Xoom? I'd like to be able to carry the Xoom + keyboard in a small netbook bag, maybe something like that roocase <[www[dot]amazon[dot]com/rooCASE-Executive-Portfolio-Landscape-Portrait/dp/B004TUPCFK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1301394591&sr=1-2>
Can a non-moto atrix/xoom BT keyboard work?
Try the Logitech DiNovo mini. Works very nicely.

All of them will. I have the Apple one. Please search, there's threads on this.
I have the apple one as well. It's just slightly larger than the Xoom so I've had a problem getting it to fit in netbook sized bags. Minor issue as there are slightly larger bags and everything fits just fine.
this one peaked my interest
I am tempted to buy this one on eBay. It's $22.99 (plus $9.99 shipping) and apparently works with the Xoom. Just not sure if the function keys work also.
Gonna ask the seller and report back!
EEDIT: The vendor replied within 24h (always a good sign!):
Hi
Thanks for your inquiry
We tested this item with our HTC G3 Hero cellphone which running Android 2.2, it works well.
The volume control keys works well with my cellphone, the other functions works well with IPad
Best Regards

Not the detailed reply that I was hoping for but at least some generic functions seem to be useable! I'm gonna bug people in the remapping thread if the keys can be reassigned!

Looking for a keyboard for my Tab. Not sure which is best...

I've been looking at the Samsung Keyboard dock, Logitech Bluetooth keyboard at BestBuy, and the Motorola Xoom keyboard.
I'm still not sure which is a better buy, and which one will work best for me.
I was using the Android on screen keyboard, but it no longer vibrates after installing the TouchWiz update.

did you check that haptic feedback is enabled? You have to check the configuration of whatever keyboard you're using (it's under settings--language and input--configure input methods--[select the keyboard you're using, i suspect it's the default samsung keyboard].

It's selected. I've tried numerous times of turning it on and off. Seems to be some type of bug within TouchWiz that keeps it from working. It works in a few other keyboards I have installed, but the Android keyboard will no longer vibrate.

Loitech keyboard! I love it battery life seems great, had it for 3 weeks. Its less than the Samsung one and uses bt so it will work with other devices. Comes with a nice protective case / stand.
The Samsung Bluetooth Keyboard Case is now available on their site for the 10.1. You can ask to be notified when available. They said it will be available in the next couple of weeks. If you google, you will see some CNET reviews that give you better pictures. It is supposedly as thin as the notebook case. I just hope it does not have the same flaws as the notebook case. I am returning mine tomorrow. The case seems to allow for easy depression of the power button. I am constantly turning the tablet on/off. I will pick it up, lift the flap, and find the device is booting back up. Not very helpful at all!
The samsung bluetooth keyboard/case looks the best so far. Of course its not out yet. Personally I want a keyboard that has capabilities of charging my tab, kinda like the asus keyboard. Anyway way to extend my battery life!!
I may have missed out on all the Touchpad craziness, but I did pick up a closeout Touchpad bluetooth keyboard from Office Depot for $25+tax using a Staples coupon from here. They had it priced at $69.99 in-store, but their website has it at $29.99 on clearance so just ask for a price adjustment.
It's a really nice feeling chiclet keyboard, about the size of the Apple Bluetooth, and uses AA vs. AAA so I expect good battery life. Some of the function keys don't seem to work (brightness, power, not sure about media) but the top left works as ESC and the Control keys do what they're supposed to, and it works great with Connectbot so I'm happy.

Based on the picture I saw, it seems to be better suited for table top use and not lap use.

I looked at the logitech and samsung keyboards.
I chose the logitech.
I didn't want to have to remove my tab from its case to use a keyboard. Thats one of the reasons i ditched the asus.
I like the keyboard shortcuts on the logitech, and i like that i can use it with my home theater pc.
The samsung seems too expensive for a non wireless keyboard imo.
Besides, its just a rehash of the old tab keyboard.
are you guys talking about the zagg keyboard or the Logitech one with the little plastic stand. I'm waiting on the zagg one up for preorder on Logitech. Com

I keep my tab in the case as well. I agree, I don't think I want to keep taking my tab in and out of the case to use the keyboard.
I've been keeping my eye on the LogiTech keyboard. So far I'm starting to use Thumb Keyboard more.

The zagg case just arrived today, got two shipped to NZ (one for my gf) and i have to say im very impressed with it.
They claim several weeks battery life of normal use(not sure how that compares to alternatives). though it charges through micro usb along with most new phones.
its very light, but also feels solid at the same time, the keys feel similar to the asus transformer dock but they are definitely more responsive.
although they state on their website that it has poor compatibility with the 10.1 in portrait mode i think it works quite well, stands fine and doesn't feel like falling over at all.
it has raised rubber feet on top of the metal so you can lie your tablet down ontop of dock without worrying about damaging it.
it has all the shortcuts you need, including full music control, android function key. escape takes you to home screen while the back key is placed where right alt is on a normal keyboard.
all in all, very nice dock of solid build that weighs less then the tablet for $69.99
Edit: its also bluetooth, so no need to take tab out of its case.
Anyone know how to fix the problem of the onscreen keyboard popping up with any of them? It gets annoying.
which logitech keyboard are u talking about guys?

Also, can it be used on your lap, or does it only work on a table top surface?

Anyone tried these cheap Ebay BT keyboards?

I just got my Note 10.1 as a surprise gift . Great day .
I am not sure whether I will need a keyboard because I have a small notebook for heavy typing but still...
I just checked ebay and chinese/hk sellers have some interesting stuff like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/x/390562886255
Did you try something like this? Or do you have some other recommendations?

I tried a similar one purchased from Amazon and it was awful.
There seem to be two types of keyboards available for this device: The fully integrated keyboard/case/stand like this one, which has a keyboard with AWFUL keys. It also would frequently disconnect from the device.
The second appear to be the "clip on" style with "chiclet" keys on the keyboard. I haven't purchased one of these since it isn't a full blown case.

you say that this keyboard is somehow "glued" to the case? or it just looks like that.
thanks for the other information. I am not even sure whether I really need it because I use notebook for typing.
I had one of these cases for my tab 8.9 and although I never had any problems with it disconnecting, the keys do feel awful. I couldn't type very fast with it so never really used it that much. I prefered to use the onscreen keyboard with swype.
i purchased this 20 dollar one from amazon

I was able to score a Microsoft wedge keyboard from ebay for $32. Its a great little keyboard, excellent feel, and it has a heavy rubber cover that makes me feel a little better about putting it in my bag with everything else.

I bought one of the clip-on keyboards. Using use it very often but it works fibre. I have small hands so it works for me. I also have a usb folio case for another tab. It was cheap and freshly like it would fall apart, but it keeps on touching and it even works with the galaxy.
Both work well enough for my purposes.

Apple bluetooth keyboard + Note 10.1 = Woks great!

Just wanted you all to know that the bluetooth wireless keyboard from Apple works really good with the note. Easy to connect. It is a great keyboard with the perfect feel. And the keyboard is about 1 inch wider then the tablet itself, so it fits in a bag with the note really well to. Just wanted you guys to know

This is the one I use: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/tablet-keyboard-ipad
The stand is also a sort of storage pouch, making the whole thing pretty portable. What you might find is all the function keys may not work (haven't really tried play/pause/forward/rewind) but it's useful for typing, especially when dealing with entering complicated passwords.
AND apple wireless bluetooth mouse works great too. WITH scroll!
I have got an Anker keyboard from Amazon, and a Logitech V470 mouse and they both work great.
