[Q] KFHD 8.9" -- Buggy Behaviour, Stuck In Boot Loop - 8.9" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, guys. I've tried searching around, but everything I found didn't quite sound the same or else the instructions were far, far out of my league of knowledge (throw tech speak at me, and my brain melts, basically). So I was hoping someone could help me out, here.
My KFHD 8.9" was rooted on... I think it was 8.4.3, the first or second version of the Kindle OS which had the battery percent on the status bar and needed the wallpaper fix. It's been nice and rooted for a good, long while. Long enough I don't remember what I'm doing and am worried about screwing things up even just trying to touch KFFA (which is the rooting method I used).
Recently, the darn thing started behaving buggy, dropping massive battery percentage, etc. I spent a good half hour one day trying to just get it to stop lagging and draining battery. Skip forward a week, and I started having more troubles. To test my theory on battery drain being from the lock screen ads, I got Titanium Backup and used it to freeze the Special Offers app. I also used it to clean up the dalvik cache, which I googled and seemed to be safe enough. That seemed to fix everything, until today. I woke my tablet up, and every app which requires internet access force closed at the same time. I tried to turn my wifi off and back on, but when I pressed the on button, it refused to work. Airplane mode didn't initiate either, though the on button would light up (no airplane would appear).
I tried several reboots, which didn't work. I tried uninstalling Titanium Backup, but upon reboot it was back. I finally got the wifi to return, and unfroze the Special Offers app, then revoked root access to Titanium Backup and uninstalled it. Another reboot, and all seemed well. I started deleting unwanted apps and preparing to back stuff up to my dropbox when I noticed a toast notification. I couldnt' read it. Then the wifi broke again, and I checked my SuperSu permissions, to find that DroidWall had requested access at the same time. DroidWall claimed there was no root; Rootchecker claimed there was. I tried to disable DroidWall; it wouldn't let me, due to insufficient permissions, and so I tried to reboot again.
And now I'm in the boot loop where I have a dead android saying I should reboot (doesn't work) or restore.
My questions are: Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this weird behaviour and degradation? Is there any way at all to save the photos, personal documents, etc. on the device that exist only there and nowhere else? And, of course, how can I get this bleeding thing where it'll boot again?
I should add that I can get my kindle into fastboot, using KFFA (it's the same program I used to root; I have a full backup from KFFA saved). But I have no clue where to go from there or if I can recover anything.

You should just restore to stock, it may wipe the data off the device but it should fix the os so it will boot up at least. I hope the internal WiFi card isn't dying. They have died on kindles here and there.

By restore to stock, do you mean choosing the factory reset option on the screen, or something involving KFFA? (Sorry, I'm really clueless and don't want to mess things up further by misunderstanding anything.) Also, would I need to do that then re-root it before restoring my backup through KFFA?
I sure hope it's not the WiFi going bad, too! Though from the symptoms presented (at one point, the status bar and such were flashing as it did when I first rooted it, before the process finished; before it finally went down, droidwall wasn't registering the permissions supersu allowed it) I almost think that maybe an app had a virus in it or something got corrupted. It was on a steady decline for the past month, really; I'm a doofus for not taking the many opportunities I had to back up my data beforehand.

In kffa there's a restore option, I didn't mean the one that does it from your own backup, its just a stock rooted restore. I don't use kffa so Idk the exact name or number. I do this kinda stuff manually.

Oooh, gotcha. Thanks. I'll give it a shot, if I can find the setting in KFFA.

Success! The poor thing is sluggish as can be, but I can't decide if that's because Amazon's possibly attempting an ota update in the background or what. I have really low bandwidth (hence it took hours to download the recovery image there), so I guess it's possible that's the case. It's been so long since I dealt with ota updates that I can't remember if my kindle got sluggish around those times or not. The wifi seems to be working now, though!
Probably going to manually update it so I can re-root and be on a version with the battery percentage in the status bar, and I have to rebuild from scratch (and track down older versions of the apps I can't stand the current versions of and was intentionally not updating), but... I'm glad I don't just have an expensive paperweight anymore! Thanks for the help, and here's hoping the rest goes smoothly. :good:

[Update-Only] nfx-update-kindle-6.3.1 - 05/04/2012
UPDATE ONLY from 6.3 to 6.3.1
Just for clarification this is not a complete rom this is only an Update
AND THIS IS ONLY IF YOU HAVE 6.3, not CM
Ok I have packaged up the 6.3.1 update with only the files changed or modified removed and added from 6.3
Included in this is:
unsecure boot image
busybox
su binary
and su apk
This is for anyone with root and Custom Recovery (Like TWRP) already installed and still on 6.3
this will not format system it will just update the need files.
So all current apps will remain and all data will be intact.
Install and wipe dalvik and cache, then reboot
Download Update 6.3.1
Files updated, added or removed
Posting this tomorrow after i BUILD THE LIST
Works beautifully, as usual.
Rooted 6.3 users... you can wait until the automated OTA update wipes out your root, custom bootloader and recovery, or you can spend 5 minutes installing this update and move on with your life like nothing ever happened. I know which I'd choose.
I was waiting for something like this. Worked like a charm on modaco. Thanks so much.
too late
Darn it, should have turned off wifi. Downloaded this, but battery was low and while recharging OTA hit me. Any recommendations on the easiest way to regain custom recovery and root? Thanks
Same thing happened to me, got recovery and bootloader back using fbmode now thinking if flashing this to get root

Another briliant creation! I have used every single one of these differential updates since 6.2.
Only problem with this one is it wiped out one of my Go Launcher screens.. Not too big a deal, I think I can recall all the apps on that page. Odd that it happened though.
Will this work on Modaco 6.3 from?

I should work fine , other then you will lose some of the customization from his build.prop as this on uses the stock prop.
Anyone notice that the app menu kind of flashes that icons overlap briefly? I don't know if it's a bug introduced with this update or if it's just me.

I use GoLauncher EX and I did not have this happen. At the very least, you can back up your GoLauncher screen/app setup in the settings menu, so that you can restore it if it ever becomes necessary for whatever reason.
I got hit with it (I think) and it took a lot of effort to flash MaCaDo. Now I'm running FFF 1.4, CWM recovery (doomlord), and device 6.3_User_401992 MaCaDo custom Rom Gr8. I want to flash APOK, but I need to get TWRP 2.1. I have the file, I just don't know how to flash the. Imf. Can you point me in the right direction?

Easiest way to flash bootloaders and recoveries, including twrp. You can't mess it up, just follow the directions, exactly as it says.
Kindle Fire Utility that's the easiest way out there.

Hey i need some help. I've been updating use these differentials since way back, around 6.2. Since this one, to 6.3.1, I'm having trouble with battery life. I got a battery life monitor and it seems that my kindle is being held awake. But no application time corresponds, app usage will be super low in that time. I've taken to turning off wifi which helps a bit but I'm still bleeding allot of amps.
i imagine it's time to use a full pre rooted 6.3.1, that clutter may be collecting from updating this way for so long. But will i need to reinstall Skype, Google market, Google contacts sync adapter, and google calendar sync adapter?

I am definitely not seeing this with this update. IN fact, I think I've only had the KF plugged in twice since this update. It does fine sleeping off the charger.
It really sounds like one of your apps. Even the full update shouldn't cause you to reinstall any of your apps, provided they are user apps and not stored in system space. You can always back everything up with Titanium backup so you can quickly restore anything, anyway. Since you are rooted, I'd also suggest making a nandroid backup with CWM (or use TWRP). Neall
Will this update work on dual-boot w/ stock rooted 6.3 as secondary install?

[Q] E4GT FI27 Boot Loop

If I'm posting this in the wrong place I apologize in advance. I'm also a bit freaked out since my phone seems to be kaput right now, but I have faith this is fixable. I need some of you professionals to give me your advice on how to go about fixing this.
Okay here we go...
I have in the past rooted my phone without any major issues by just reading this awesome site. I recently used "SPH-D710_FI27_CL1127689_Rooted_NoData" to root my phone using the one click method and everything was working fine. I realize now that I should have backed up all of my user data on the phone prior to updating to ICS from Gingerbread.
So, I think I made a newbie mistake by actually using Titanium Backup Pro (updated to latest version) to restore 1 file called wallpaper from the date 03/2012 (March 2012) which was when my phone was using Gingerbread 2.3.4 I think. I remember hitting the restore button and getting an option to restore only the data, so I chose this and a notification said, "Reboot phone for changes to take effect". Once the phone rebooted I unlock the screen and see the wallpaper I had from earlier this year. Now, I think the main problem is that I'm now using Ice Cream Sandwhich 4.0.4 and restoring the wallpaper from Gingerbread 2.3.4 has caused some underlying issues which is causing my phone to constantly reboot.
I went to the Sprint store and explained the issue and the Sprint representative said my phone needed to be reset because it seems to be glitching out. I informed him that I had files on my phone that I wanted to try to backup to my computer before I completely wipe the phone. Now, I'm home and I'm trying to get my phone to pop up in Windows 7 x64. I keep getting USB connection errors while connecting my phone to my PC because the phone keeps constantly rebooting while the drivers are trying to install then as soon as the phone reboots the driver installation fails.
USB Device Not Recognized
SAMSUNG Mobile MTP Device failed installation
So I've tried uninstalling Samsung Kies and the USB drivers and then re-installing them and rebooting. Still no joy because my phone keeps constantly rebooting. It is never going to complete installing because the phone is completely unstable at this point in time. Further research led me to updating the MTP from Microsoft. After installing this I rebooted. Problem is I'm still getting connection issues while trying to connect my Epic 4G Touch to my PC because the drivers are not able to install because of the constant reboots, even though they were installed previously. This is how I was able to root my phone to begin with.
So basically what I'm trying to do is backup my files on my phone to my computer (which it now may be too late) before I just completely reflash a fresh ROM (Full Restore on FI27) and start over from scratch.
I had the idea of actually reapplying "SPH-D710_FI27_CL1127689_Rooted_NoData" to hopefully reset the kernel so I could backup my phone to my computer. This hasn't resulted in any changes whatsoever either. I'm completely stumped and would really appreciate some wisdom here.
I hope all of this makes sense and I hope someone out there is nice enough to take a little time to point me in the right direction.
I have just placed the phone in download mode with the idea of re-downloading "SPH-D710_FI27_CL1127689_Kernel" and USB drivers have been installed successfully.
Nice to see this thread is getting some views, but no one has any advice to give me?
What files on your phone do you need?
I just got the Phone to show up in Windows Explorer by plugging in the USB cable right when the Yellow 4G came up and I was browsing the phone and I noticed the SD Card was not showing up, but before long the phone rebooted and I'm still trying to access the phone but the damn thing keeps rebooting constantly.
I'm just trying to backup photos I don't have backed up anywhere else. Other than that I'm hoping I can do a full restore using "SPH-D710_FI27_CL1127689_Rooted_Restore" and that will at least get my phone back to operating normally right?
Just go into the recovery menu and do a factory reset. It won't format your SD card.

m4xwellmurd3r thanks for the advice.
I got impatient and went ahead and flashed "SPH-D710_FI27_CL1127689_Rooted_Restore" and my phone is back to operating normally. My SD card is still intact as well! What is really surprising is the fact that the pictures that were on my phone are still there. I don't understand, I obviously did something wrong. Also no longer having USB connection issues so that is a big relief as well!
Of course all the applications I had installed are no longer present, but why are my pictures still intact after using a Rooted Restore.
I want to completely wipe my phone and then create a backup with Titanium Backup and call it Stock_Version#. Then after I root the phone and get everything setup the way I like it I want to create another backup called something else. Is this the correct way to go about doing this?
Because none of your storage gets wiped by factory resets. Resets only affect the rom portion of your phone not storage. Glad you got it working
By the way rooted restore already wiped everything on your phone and rooted it so you're good to go

Really? Okay, so I shouldn't see any empty folders for apps I no longer use?
I swear everytime I start looking at the folders in my phone I see things I don't recognize and it just bothers me. This is one reason I wanted to reset my phone and start over fresh.
Also is there a good tutorial for using Titanium Backup?
Any folders made on the SD card and internal storage will remain since factory resets won't touch the data, even if the app is gone

So when you install an app just to test it out then you un-install it remnants of that app are still left behind. This I have to say I don't like. There has to be a better way to keep the file structure free from accumulating garbage. Is there a better way or not?

You could always delete the /data contents for the APK but not if it's in android.secure.... you won't know what is what in there.
@garwynn - What is the difference between SPH-D710_FI27_CL1127689_Rooted_Restore.exe, and SPH-D710_FI27_CL1127689_Rooted_Restore_v2.exe?
Also I want to completely reset my phone now that I have everything backed up to my PC that I care about. So do I need to do a factory reset on the phone and then flash one of the files above?
The plan is to get a fresh start and use Titanium Backup like I should have been doing from the start!

No, you do not need to factory reset when you use an Odin one click.

Lol. So your google account settings remained? You didn't have to setup anything?? If that's the case, either it was the no data version or it didn't flash.
And if you're taking about formatting the usb storage, like blues said in the other thread you asked, it doesn't format it.
But feel free to get other opinions.
:edit: And the only way I'd ever suggest to "factory reset" from the privacy menu, would be to use a gb build. But don't take my word for it, read the brick bug thread.

I'm just getting confused here I think your right. So basically if I do a factory reset via the settings menu, that will reset everything but keep the same model FI27. Then all I'll need to do is reflash the SPH-D710_FI27_CL1127689_Rooted_Restore.exe, right?

See my edit above. I'll never suggest using that option with an ics build at this time.
Now, having said that, i have done it but with the brick bug, that choice is yours.
What i try to do is just format the drives (both internal and external) when connected to my laptop then power off, then use a one click.
Safe method - use a gb one click, factory reset via privacy option in settings and format usb, then use the fi27 one click.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
Okay tell me I understand this correctly.
Format both internal/external drives via settings > privacy > Factory data reset (this does not touch the SD Card, right?) while USB cable connected.
Power off phone and boot into download mode, then flash a "Stock Gingerbread Rom" (matching the model #, will it still be FI27 or not?) then at this point if I'm still on FI27 all I'll need to do is reflash "SPH-D710_FI27_CL1127689_Rooted_Restore" to regain root.
If after doing a factory reset and flashing a stock gingerbread rom I may have to wait for updates to be pushed to my phone, or not?

[Q] Crashing apps and loss of service?!

Hey guys, long time browser, first time poster, but not a reason for celebration, alas.I come to you guys out of frustration after hours of being unable to solve my issue cruising the interwebs, and the thread title kinda says it all.
To start from the beginning, I recently delved into the rooted world by means of towelroot (kitkat 4.4.2), installed xposed framework, got the modules XBlast and XPrivacy, and you might have guessed, fiddled around with each. Everything was fine and dandy until I was having issues receiving/making calls through an app (LINE, if you know it), and so I attempted to figure out what the issue was, very much assuming XPrivacy to be the culprit. Couldn't get it to work, which is when I decided to restore my backup I made using Clockwork. Should have been nice and smooth sailing, but...
Upon having it "restored" I booted on into it, which is when I got smacked in the face; as soon as I'm booted, most, if not all, my apps are reporting that they have stopped working by a bombardment of error messages in endless succession, making just browsing the home screens almost impossible. Also with this barrage came the lack of cell service, a nice white n' slashed out circle in what should be my bars of signal. I tried again to restore my phone from my backup. Same issue, but I did notice during the recovery it made mention of something like "secure_android" missing? This sent me on my hours of head banging, turning up *possible* resolutions, which didn't work. I've tried flashing the stock bootloader, gapps, and nothing. Now, my data and apps are all still there and I can get into recovery without issue, it's just the pain of not being able to actually using any of it.
I have debugging switched on on my phone, but do not have some sort of adb app installed on it, nor could I access any market place to try. I'm not so sure I would be able to install anything on my phone given my current circumstances, anyway.
Please, if any of you out there have some idea as to what is going on, I'm all eyes (as ears on a forum don't work so well)! If there are any details I may have omitted and so on, just let me know and I'll supply it--
Thank you all so much in advance for any possible steps that may resolve this issue!

Sounds like your backup was a downgrade (old version).
I would suggest doing a factory reset, test it. If that doesn't do it, use Odin to flash stock firmware (which can be found in the general section stickies).

Thanks for responding! I did try a wipe data/factory reset via CWM, then restored from there. Didn't work. I'm not sure if there is a particular order in how it should be done such as "factory reset, reboot phone into recovery, restore" or if I should be able to get away with "factory reset, restore", the latter being what I did. I also got a hold of a bootloader file and modem base band for build I747UCUFNE4, if those would be useful in any way.
If it's of any help, I somehow got the Unofficial Omni ROM 4.4.4 to work without any issue, but not quite happy enough with the overall interface of it, yet slowly adapting having installed a touchwiz launcher just to hold me over.
I've tried locating the backup CWM created on my phone so that I could store it on my computer and generate another backup as from what I read, the unpaid version only allows you one at a time, but had no luck digging through my directories. I'm currently investigating this online nandroid backup thing to see if there's anything to it.
I've also come across some file labeled "I747UCUFNE4_Stock_Rooted_Deodex" which is a zip, but I'm reading ODIN uses tar as it's compression of choice? Does this mean I should flash this file via recovery, or? Also, the file size is a whopping 920MB or so... that normal? (Edit: this is where I found the file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2788357 which says to flash in recovery)

Thanks again for your response! I was really thinking my problem would just be glanced over.

I meant factory reset without restoring.
But now that you're back up and running, there's no need for it (unless you flash another ROM). You could flash NE4 if you wanna get back on the official ROM but there are also tw custom ROM which you can look into (you're currently using an aosp one).
As for the 920mb, yeah.. That's Sammy at its best, bloating their ROMs.

You think it would be safe to do a factory reset and try to restore just the data from my recovery? Or is it possible that the data is somehow the issue with everything going wonky?
I'm very new to the ROM thing, Omni was easy to get up and running, but actually playing with a ROM was more of a last ditch effort to see if the problem would be resolved that way and give any sort of indication as to what the issue was (still haven't the sllightest). It's currently not rooted (at least according to my root checker) and the towelroot method doesn't seem to work on it. I kinda need to be rooted if I wanted to make a nandroid, I really want to make a back up of what I currently have set in case I screw the pooch trying to get things back to "normal", yet I'm afraid of overwriting my only recovery and losing whatever data is embedded, though I'm not too deeply saddened by the thought of not having chat histories and whatnot, it would just be nice to have. Perhaps you have thoughts, or anyone else out there, on the matter? I know my first step would be to at least root my current ROM, then back up, I found this as a means to root Omni (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672160), but how do I determine whether I'm using an ARM based or x86 based device?
Good to know the file size for the stock ROM is considered normal. I didn't even consider carrier/Samsung bloat to have such a huge impact.
Thanks, yet again!

Anyone restored a back up using TWRP?

In past devices I've owned lately (can remember which cuz there's been A LOT) I've noticed that at times, when i restore a back up i suddenly have bugs that weren't there b4. I'm not saying it's common but i HAVE seen it. I wanna try installing some mods my phone but b4 i do I'm gonna create a back up. Im just hoping that if i do have too restore a back up that it's not gonna suddenly create problems. My set up is dam near perfect right now. So I'm just putting some feelers out here: has anyone restored a back up using TWRP? And if so, was everything running perfectly afterwards?
Thanks.
Never had an issue.

If I restore a backup I usually do a factory reset first and foremost everything, that way its restoring to a clean space.

Just did it today. No problems at all.
I have noticed stuff like google play services needing to be updated even though it was just updated and smart cards stop working. Never anything major though and it only happens every now and then.

Yeah, i do too. I think it was a while back on the note 3 that even when wiping fully you'd still get issues. Just glad to see others aren't having problems with this device. Thanks.

That's because TWRP was horribly broken on the Note 3 for a long time. It wasn't restoring SELinux contexts properly so you'd wind up with a non-functional device (e.g. every app FC'd on launch, device would bootloop, etc.). It was also corrupting exFAT-formatted SD cards due to a buggy FUSE implementation. (I helped bigbiff troubleshoot and fix all of it over the past year.)
I had to restore contexts manually via adb after a TWRP restore before rebooting into Android. They only fixed that in the 2.7.1.0 release IIRC.
I haven't had a single problem. Restores perfectly. I do wipe like 3 times first though.

All of the three times I flashed this rom it come up with no Status Bar, Background image and Phone apps. The first time I wiped the required partitions plus Internal Storage too. I was coming from Morom. The second time was the same except I didn't wipe Internal and I didn't flash the Xposed thing. The third time I Odin'd the stock rom and rooted it before and it came up the same. I thought maybe something was holding over from Morom that was causing it.
The Md5 for both is right. I'm a little confused because I seem to be the only one having problems. I'm beginning to wonder if there's a problem with my Sdcard. I couldn't make MultiSystem work right either.
I reformatted my card. My computer said there was something wrong. When I set it up for MultiSystem I formatted it fat32. When I re-did it just now the computer wanted to do it in exfat. Maybe it should have been exfat all along. Anyway I lost my ext4 partition. Hopefully I can get things straightened out over the weekend.
Update: That fixed it.

Like I said above. Reformatting my SD fixed it. Do you have a card reader? Is everything on the card saved on your computer?
I can't be certain it will work for you but it did for me.

Runs FANTASTIC. I am really happy with it. I have it skinnied down quite a bit, I've frozen about 100 apps. When I clear cache, I "optimize" about 240 apps, whereas out of the box it was well over 300.
Between WLD, Greenify, ES Task Manager doing its optimzations, and my own pruning/tweaking (overclocked/undervolted, thanks to hsbadr's kernel and Synapse), I'm getting insanely good battery life and ridiculous performance, while retaining all the tweaking I'd gotten used to on KK,... I am running a dozen or so xposed modules without issue.
Thumbs up! :good:

Hey is there any way you can elaborate a bit more on how you optimized your battery life?
I was on definitive 4.4.4 not too long ago getting an average of 5+ hours on screen time. Moderate to heavy usage. Which I thought was pretty good.
After installing this rom (which it runs amazing) I've noticed my battery life running a bit shorter. Screen on time is 2h 30min at 26% right now. 14% of my overall usage right behind #1 "Cell standby" at 16% and Android OS at 6% and android system at 5%.
I've only been running this rom for several days so far. I don't think it's something I've installed, or at least nothing that wasn't on kitkat. I'm on wifi a lot and barely use data. Battery Doctor says I have 45 power issues to optimize if that means anything.
I use greenify, clean master and battery doctor. Along with tasker to shut off mobile data when connected to wifi and a few other things (I'm still trying to learn it).
I also went through permissions and stopped a bunch of apps from checking locations and autoruns.
Any suggestions would help thank you! Battery life is the one thing I wish the note 4 was better with haha

It turns out that "Cell standby" is the issue, at 31% as I write this. Under 30min on screen time. It drained my battery by over 40% over night! I tried searching several threads, it seems this is a common issue. None of the 8+ threads I found had a solid answer, mostly theories that don't work for most. Please post a link if I have missed a solution somewhere!!
Thank you!
New to Android and Rooting/ROMS
Does anyone have any tutorial videos for installing this ROM? Do i need to be rooted? Will this work on android 5.0.1 Hardware Version N910v.05? Snapdragon variant? If not how can i downgrade to make it work? Any basic custom rom Installation videos?
Is there a way to get Android Pay to work on this ROM?
I've been using Google Wallet for tap to pay with no issues but it just updated to Android Pay which doesn't seem to work with root. I've tried all the workarounds I've found including disabling root but it's still not working, would that be because I am using your ROM? Is there any way to get it working in this ROM?
@hsbadr on the AOSP build, after restoring some apps with Titanium backup and rebooting, I lost data again. Tried rebooting and toggling some settings but it's still gone. Why is it so hard to keep data connected on Verizon with AOSP ROMS?
Edit: for some reason it didn't like me restoring my previous Android ID. I created a new one and data is back. funny.

Android Pay implements security checks including root. It should work fine on unmodified stock system or this Safe OG5 Upgrade!

I don't have any of these issues (data connects automaticly after the 1st boot & persists). Also, @jlavallee25 had data issues while testing other modems but none on OG5 modem. I'd re-start clean with OG5 Safe Upgrade.

Re: AICP
A few questions...
1 - Is FastCharge enabled? I don't see the notification I would see in TW... but it seems to charge pretty quick.
2 - What version of xposed (if any) should I install?
I'm having the following issues so far:
Trouble restoring multiple apps with Titanium Backup (this is a typical problem I have... but present again). It will hang on one app, and I have to kill TiB, install the app manually, and restart. This is a problem because...
I currently can't install anything from the Play Store. It's weird... according to the status, it skips downloading the app, and goes straight to installing, where it sits indefinitely. This may be because...
After restarting the phone a second time, I lost LTE, and have no connection to mobile data.
Any help?
I've got the ROM and Gapps files on my phone, but I won't be able to re-flash the modem with Odin until I get back home tonight. If needed, could I dirty- or clean-flash the phone and reinstall AICP without the facility of Odin?
Thanks
Thank you so much for AICP!!! I flashed last night according to your instructions, had a little trouble with mobile data, but after trying the fixes and rebooting, data finally sticks. All I can say is I'm loving the ROM. Everything is working perfect so far, data, GPS, calls, mms, Bluetooth.... Wow its a whole new life for my n4...thank you @hsbadr

I can't get LTE to turn back on. I've toggled it back and forth, and rebooted it several times. I had this problem with AICP v 8 (or 9, can't remember) a few weeks ago.
What fixes (bolded above) did you try, @gcounts? I did the OG5 safe upgrade over a month ago before installing Jasmine 3.0/3.1. After trying AICP 8/9 a few weeks ago and not having luck with Titanium Backup or mobile data, I did a factory reset in TWRP and reinstalled Jasmine 3.1. This morning, I did a factory wipe in TWRP (several times for good measure), and flashed the AICP rom and Gapps. I rebooted to Download mode from TWRP, and flashed the OG5 modem in Odin. At completion, the phone rebooted to AICP. I had LTE data at this point.
1st boot: I had LTE data before starting the initial setup... Upon completion of initial setup, I was on my home wifi, and installed Titanium Backup. I started restoring my 300+ apps, when it got hung on the 3rd one. I rebooted. At this point, I was at work, and did not have wifi to fall back on.
2nd boot: I had LTE data when it rebooted. I started Titanium Backup again, and it got hung up. I tried installing the app that was hung up from the Play Store, and the Play Store would skip downloading, and go straight to "Installing" status, and would hang there. Weird. I know I had LTE at this point because I could search and find results in the Play Store. I rebooted.
3rd boot: It booted, and I had the exclamation point by the signal (no LTE/data). I let it sit for a while, and it said LTE at some point... but I still couldn't search in the Play store. It would tell me I wasn't connected. I rebooted.
4th boot (and several following): No LTE/data connection. I toggle it on/off, wait several minutes... nothing.
Does any of that help to narrow down my issue?
@hsbadr - Do you have an idea of why some of us are having data problems? And... does your custom version with more Verizon tweaks have any hope of addressing this issue?
Thanks

Apparently, your issues are mainly due to restoring apps or device ID via TitaniumBackup app... Report them to the app developer & don't use it for now!
As for flashing the modem via Odin, you may skip it or test different modems. However, this build is only tested & supported if you follow the instructions here.
