the original (default) note 2 keyboard - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
this is my first thread here @xda, I hope I don't break any rules by posting it here.
After the 4.4.2 (God bless it :/) I noticed that they upgrade "Samsung default Keyboard" which I use to write,
My problem is, they changed the "Arabic" layout.
They replaced characters, added/moved/deleted another, they (hide) the little transparent extra characters that we call by long-press and it is no longer QWERTY layout keyboard that I use to type on for almost a year since I bought my Note 2
Because the Arabic still not that wide used language, I have problem fixing that by myself, so I am here to ask you to try with me.
Well, It is so difficult for you to notice but here is the old vs the new layout

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
As you see, the old one is very close to the actual (mechanical) keyboard, but the new one is something like a box, WT-heck is that?
After few hours of googling, I read this: [MOD] Auto Correct and Uses System Font for Samsung Keyboard @xda-dev but I am not sure that this will bring back the default "Arabic" QWERTY layout keyboard
Any help?

Any help will be appreciated guys .

[Q] Help with a themed Gingerbread keyboard

Basically I need some help. I'm trying to theme the gb keyboard and having issues.
I want to change the color of the predicted words to white which i know how to do and have done successfully(which the apk will compile just fine.) But the problem im having is I cannot fix the & and the ⁢ problems, i edit the .xml to fix it and i try to compile the apk and always get errors. I dunno what to do at this point so i'd figured i'd ask for help. Anyone got any ideas. I've tried this a million times now even with the apk that has not been changed in anyway other the /values/color.xml and which ever other xml folder i cant remember at the moment.
Anyawesome.
Also looking to hopefully fix a issue with the space bar, wanna make it a tad bit wider, and possibly trying to fix the issue with the predictive words(when you type out a word then keep typing, then go back and click on that word to change it to another and instead of replacing the whole word it just past the word directly where you touched and doesnt delete the word you want to change) -but i dunno if thats just because of a froyo thing.

As you can see there is those annoying gaps with the space bar, dunno how to fix it....

[Download] Modified Gingerbred Keyboard

**Yah I'm new here, shoot me XD Move this to the themes section if that's where it belongs, sorry =[ I'll get used to this eventually**
The smilies popup and period popup on the gingerbred keyboard were really bothering me, so I decided to change them and upload it for everyone. The only thing I changed were the smilies, and the period popup nothing else. To access the smilies on the keyboard simply longpress the enter button.
When you longpress the period button on the keyboard, there will now be options for .com .net .edu .org .fr for easier typing urls to friends or in the browser. I found it really annoying that these were not custom configurable in the first place, but eh, lol.
Uninstall your GB keyboard before installing this one. The file is signed, and should work. I personally used Android Commander to install the apk.
Sorry for the blurry picture, but it's the best I can do since taking screenshots of keyboard popups is impossible XD

Btw you can use ddms in the sdk to take screenshots of almost anything, if adb is setup
I'll give it a shot later on =X thanks for the tip

kanji fonts look wrong

Well, this isn't really a question pertaining to the Desire specifically, it seems more a general Android font issue, but I'll ask it here because I'm not sure where such questions go...
And so I just updated my HTC Desire from CyanogenMod 7.2 to a custom ICS ROM, and while for the most part I am more than happy with how ICS has been working, a small thing is niggling at me. I am studying Japanese and I use AnkiDroid as a flashcard app for reviewing Japanese kanji and Japanese vocabulary. After the updated, I noticed that just as with my ASUS Transformer (also running ICS) some of the kanji look rather strange. For example, the kanji 誤 looks like this on my desktop:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
while on my phone the same character looks like this:
They're almost completely different! I am sure that 誤 which is U+8aa4, is correct on my desktop as this is how the kanji appears in every Japanese dictionary I have. There are a few other kanji that look almost as wrong on my phone as well: it's just that 誤 is the one character that came up in today's review which bothered me. I remember this was the case as well with Cyanogenmod before 7.1, but 7.1 and onwards gave the correct character form.

MIUI ICS for Desire Dictionary temporary fix

If you have the ICS MIUI Rom for the HTC Desire installed, you probably have a broken dictionary that won't stop telling you that you've spelled everything wrong. It's a pretty simple fix though if you like the ROM enough.
Step one: Go to play store, find a keyboard you like. I personally like touch pal a lot. Download it.
Step two: Go to settings, complete settings, Language and Input.
Step three: Enable your new keyboard and set it as default.
Step four: below language turn off spelling correction.
Step five: go into your keyboard settings and choose a language. It will hopefully then use it's dictionary instead of the broken one.
Sorry if it's a little vague or basic, but it would probably confuse people who don't know a lot about custom ROMing.
Only other bug in the ROM that I've found is choppy video recording and sometimes the WIFI stops, but restarting it always works
ALSO if this is in the wrong thread please move it for me.

SM-N9750 Variant Questions

Hi Everyone,
I am new here in the forums. I recently got my Note 10+ unlocked version which I presume is the Hong Kong variant.
I have noticed two things that seem to bother me.
First, the 4G icon (or sim status icon) is present in the status bar even my mobile data is off. If there any way to remove this?
Second, the keyboard layout is a bit different from what I am usually accustomed. Can I install or change the keyboard layout to the US version?
Thank you.
The 4G icon can be hidden using Good Lock. I believe you can change the keyboard to US layout using settings > language and input > On Screen Keyboard > Samsung Keyboard > Language and type. If not, you could download Gboard.
Thanks for the feedback.
I was hoping to still use the samsung keyboard as I like its key layout better. See attached file for reference. I also dont like that there is a number key when there is already a number row on top.
