Hey guys,
I wanted to install the new software the B510 but when I want to install it, it always stops and I get the message:
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/Books.apk", ........
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted
Can anyone help me? I'm on B125 and I've even tried a full wipe.
1. update B125
2. download B510 from Link
3. create folder "dload" and copy update.zip in folder "dload"
4. copy folder paste on SD Card
5. Settings>>About phone>System Update>Local update

hi..
as i wrote in the other thread i wasn't able to get the b510 (or b132 now) to pass the verify check..
i tried now almost everything i found inside this forum..
from unlocking bootloader to clean install and this tipp..nothing happend though i'm frustrated with this..
maybe someone can make a clear and step by step guide how to make e.g. a clean install of a rom, what bootloader is needed, which adb commands for unlocking (it is freaky to find these informations in about 5-8 different threads)..
i know that i can use the search and i do so.. but it is sometimes very difficult and timeeating to find the information i need..
Some times to update is required the last previous rom

one assumes that you have already rooted your HTC Hero ?
If not then follow this
http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/27/how-to-root-your-htc-hero-in-one-click/
once that is done then follow this

This worked like a charm for me so I assume that it should work for you as well
Hope this helps

Where, China? I've heard it called the G2 by virtue of T-Mobile branding it the G2 Touch, but never the G3!

I have this model also, just wondering when we are able to root the hero and install different roms will it enable different android market? I'm in the US and am lacking apps that should be present e.g Pandora, ebuddy etc.
I was wondering if this way of force updating would work?
download the official rom version 1.76.405.x firmware (not rooted),
boot up the unit using home+power (to boot into recovery);
extract the official rom's rom.zip and rename into update.zip
put that update.zip into sdcard's root
on the device, apply the update in the recovery.

try it, but i doubt it will work because it will check the CID in the rom.zip(or renamed to update.zip) file and that ROM does not contain CID's needed for most phones.

uhm, could be, or it doesn't like the rom.zip (altough renamed to update.zip) zip file, which makes sence as we can create update.zip files and sign them ourselfs (stuff that for example paul (modaco) does) i need more playing time myself, but you can try and creating a new zip with the contents of the rom.zip and sign it, then look if that works....but i'm doubtful
funny thing is, i've downloaded the signed rom from modaco, (they are signed, as far as i can be told by the file name), and tried to flash it again using the same method:
log:
Code:
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Veryfiying update package...
E:No signature (740 files)
E:Verification failed
Installation aborted.
still no go.
does renaming a file affect the signature?

no, but the type of signing is the problem, the update.zip (with cert/sign files inside the zip) is a different kind then doing an edit on the physical zip file and changing (signing) and thats whats being checked and we currently can't duplicate (or re-sign a changed rom.zip)
I found a solution after being told it was not possible.
The Brown Hero I purchased was also an Asian version and had no Market.
I was so scared and frustrated at first because everyone said there was no solution.
But I found one!
*1. Download Linda file manager from here and install since you don't have the market! (I had a copy already on my sdcard) goto Settings, Applications, and make sure Unknown source is checked ON.
*2. On your phone, goto Settings, SD card and phone storage, and click Unmount SD card.
*3. Then click Format SD card (it should automatically remount after this)
*4. Plug the phone into the compuer via USB, then pull down the notification bar and click on the SD card notification. Then click mount.
*5 Download the Flashrec apk from this link: http://zenthought.org/system/files/asset/2/flashrec-1.1.2-20090909.apk and install using Linda File manager.
*6. Download Amon_RA_Herov1.2.2 Recovery image and place on root of sdcard
*7. Open the FlashRec program and click on Backup Recovery Image and wait for it to finish.
*8. Once done, click on the empty text box in the FlashRec program and type
/sdcard/Recovery-RA-HERO-v1.2.2.img
Then click on the Flash Custom RecoveryImage button and wait for it to finish.
*9. Turn off the phone and turn it on into Recovery mode by holding down Home and Power to turn it on (keep holding until the recovery screen comes up has a bunch of text on a black background). So long as that screen comes up, you have done it correctly and now you can load this rom which is HTC Generic 2.73.405.5
It's also referred to as Modaco version 2.2, it's what I'm currently using.
*10. Place that rom on the root of you're sdcard and use option Apply sdcard: choose zip option and flash! Once done reboot and you're all set and will have The Android Market and all the goodness that rooting provides!
Hope this helps!

Status 7 = Bad updater script
There are two ways to correct the
status 7 error. I'm going to tell you the easier one (atleast i think so )
So, you need a computer for that.
Now, lets begin.
Step 1. Copy the ROM zip file to your
computer and extract it using your
favorite unzipping software.
Step 2. Once unzipped, browse to the
META-INF/com/google/android
directory. You will find two files called
“update-binary” and “updater-script”.
Step 3. Rename “updater-script” to
“updater-script.txt” and open with your
favorite text file editor.
Step 4. Get rid of the line starting with
“assert” to next semi-colon. Usually
this is the first line or one of the first
lines at the top of the text file.
Step 5. Save file.
Step 6. Rename “updater-script.txt”
back to “updater-script”.
Step 7. Rezip all the files you’ve
unzipped.
Step 8. Copy the new, edited zip file to
your phone.
Step 9. Try re-installing ROM, now it
should install fine without Status 7
error.
PS :- I am assuming that you are already rooted & have the specific recovery.
He needs a kitkat recovery first and not a sense recovery.

Note: Remove the previous UPDATE.APP (B132) from your dload folder.
Do it again same process.. Settings --> About --> Update..--- > Local Update.

Hi i am currently using Huawei Ascend P6,
my version was P6-U06, B107, and can anyone teach me how to update it to 4.4.2 android kit kat?
Please guide.. Thanks!!!
Hi! You should install b132 firmware (extract downloaded file>make 'dload' folder on your external sd card and put UPDATE.APP into dload then go to settings>about phone>system updates> make backup(optional) and apply and the phone will do the rest (cca15min)) and when you are on b132 do the same with b510 firmware. You can download it from offical huawei site or from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2782496

Hi. I am currently using ascend B132 android version 4.2.2 . Initially I had the same issue, I was on B107 and wanted to update it to Kitkat inorder to gain some advancements regarding camera lens. SO I read your post and followed all of your steps. I extracted the B132.zip file and moved the UPDATE.APP file to a folder named dload in my SD card, installed it and it worked. (Y) But now that I have to upgrade to B510, I have no clear instructions after doing hours of research. You stated to follow the same method for the upgradation of B510 but many sites say that it should not be extracted and just rename it to UPDATE.ZIP and paste it to the dload folder. Considering the fact that i still have my UPDATE.APP file (from the previous step of upgrading to B132) in the dload folder, I should paste the UPDATE.ZIP (for B510) in the same folder or remove the UPDATE.APP
I have tried both methods, but as one site says when UPDATE.APP is not present in the folder containing UPDATE.ZIP, android fails to recognize any update and it aborts. whereas, when UPDATE.APP is there too, it just installs the B132 (from the update.app) again and kinds of overlooks the update.zip for B510 and hence there is no update to B510. Kindly, provide me with the steps of installing B510. I have listed all of the problems I am experiencing.
There shouldnt be zip files in the folder. Extract the update.app from the zip file for b510 place it in the dload folder on the sd card an make the update.

The zip file of B510 just don't get extracted and an error occurs. Furthermore all of the other websites states not to extract it, just to rename it as update.zip and put it in dload. does not works.
Dying to update.
Let me check if i have the b510 or b512 update in my comp and ill try to upload it. Then you can work as i said before.

Thankyou so much. But i think I downloaded from the very same webpage. However, I will give it a try.
Please illustrate clearly whether I have to zip the 510 file. And secondly, The update app file of B132 shouldn't be placed in dload while upgrading?
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, DOES THIS FILE GETS EXTRACTED?
From the link i gave you, you should be able to get a zip file. Extract the zip and see if there is a file called updeta.app. Once you have that file place it in dload folder on sd card and start the update with the three button method.

The User-interface seems pretty good. Please tell me that is this release of B708 for P6 huawei's an official one by the makers of huawei?
Secondly, Is it lollipop or Kitkat?
Lastly, I'm concerned with the speed of the phone, Will it be affected largely?
And If we're good to go, Kindly guide me with the steps and also the requirements for Installing this B708. And most importantly for upgradation of p6 to B708 , it should be running a particular firmware first like B707 but I have B132 so what I have to do. Stuck so badly,
Regards
Well first, it is an official update from huawei but it was only released in china. Because of that you will find some chinese apps in the system but they wont make any problems for the experience with working on the phone. It is kitkat since our beloved P6 didnt get lolipop update and probably wont in future. About performance it will show some improvements, but thats my opinion since ive read on this forum that some arent satisfied with the overall update. And for the proccess of upgrading it is written on their official site that the recomended steps are that you get b508sp2 first and then go to b708. As for b707 i wouldnt suggest it since it still has bugs.

How to Update
Flashing this update requires your phone to be already running B706/B707 EMUI 3.0 developmental firmware or B508 (U06)/ B508SP02 (T00) or B508SP03 (C00) EMUI 2.0 stable firmware on board.
Download the appropriate firmware on your computer and extract it.
Connect your Ascend P6 to the computer in MTP mode over a USB connection.
Format the SD Card in FAT32 filesystem and make sure it has at least 2GB of free space.
Copy the “Update.app” package to “dload” folder of your SD Card.
Disconnect all the cables and completely turn off your phone.
Reboot into automatic upgrade mode by holding Volume Up + Volume Down + Power button for about 10 seconds. Release the Power button when your phone vibrates.
Let go of the Volume keys once your device begins to perform the upgrade.
It’ll take a few seconds to finish the process. Once you’re done reboot your phone normally and enjoy the update.
If SD Card update fails, transfer the dload folder with the update.app file in the internal storage and repeat the steps for updating.

Hi guys!
Firstable, as always, excuse my English....So, I just receive my P6, its on B105 JB 4.2.2, I want to Root and TWRP so I can install PA or Cyano.....I read that firstable I have to be on B510 to do the process...I found this post (http://www.htxt.co.za/2014/06/27/how-to-update-the-huawei-ascend-p6-to-android-4-4-2/) that explains how-to from b125 to b510....so my question, can I go straight from b105 to b125 and to the process, or is there any other software between those 2? Please, if there is a completely diferent process else where from b105 to b510, post the link please...I search but I didn't find anything,
As always, thanks to all of you guys.
you should get first the b112 and then do the steps as mentioned in the article..
the step for b112 is the same as for the others
if its a zip file - rename to update.zip and put it inside dload folder onto your sdcard..
if its a app file - rename it to update app and put it inside dload folder onto your sdcard (sometimes the update.app is compressed to a zip - so you have to extract it)
then you can go ahead with the local update method : settings - about phone - system update - local update..
then - if everything works well you have the p6 with kitkat 4.4.2
for root and that stuff look inside this forum - many threads about it are there..
good luck
