[MOD][PORT] LG G3 Keyboard - G2 Android Development

As you guys already know, one of interesting features of LG G3 is its new keyboard.
I've used it in my ROM and received so many requests for it. So here it is, fully ported and working perfectly (text - predict - handwritting).
Just flash it via recovery:

APK installer (root only):

You are the man, Cloudy! Do you know if this keyboard will work on AOSP roms as well? I can't wait for your G3 Rom port! It is going to be so epic as I really like what LG has done with their new G UI (pun intended by LG here?) Thanks again for your work man!

As always, good work m8

I have no idea as I'm not AOSP fan
About G3 port, yap I'm working on it but its harder than what we think. Not like Flex or G Pro 2, LG changed the way they handle partitions and structure. Maybe it'll take more time but at least, I can port most app out of it (in worst case that we cant have a fully ported ROM)

Thank you very much Cloudyfa

Yeah, that does sound like a lot of work for sure! Thank you for the useful and informative post. I really hope you manage to pull it off! I believe in you but if apps like the new camera and so on will be ported that would be awesome as well!

And if people stop making roms for the optimus g will i be able to port roms from the nexus 4 to optimus g using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2370873without any problems??

It's not possible to know that for sure. I doubt LG will update us to the latest version of android, honestly. Latest custom roms? Sure. Until Dec 2014? I'm not a psychic so I don't know haha
And in theory yes, you can port roms...but I don't know how so...

There's already a good number os ports from Nexus 4 (Carbon, slim, xylon, EOS, Orca, PA, etc...) you can find them here:
http://main.develoid.com:82/lg/Optimus G/CustomRom/
So, probably you don't need to port ...Maybe update them
I'd love to help you with the port question but honestly I have no idea about how that works haha

If you care so much about updates or a zillion of custom roms yeah.
If you want more storage, no on-screen buttons, LTE, better battery life, the possibilty to use a 100% LG Firmware with its fully functional gimmicks ( QSlide, etc. Might sound stupid but there's people that don't like AOSP ), you prefer the looks of the G, or simply you don't care about a zillion roms because you'll end up using a few at best, then not so much.
Also, I've had both phones on my hand and I don't know why ( because in theory they share the same display ) the Optimus G looked much sharper. Both were on stock, so I wonder if the N4 just has a ****ty calibration and needs a custom kernel to adjust it.
Thanks bro, I just change my rom once in 2 months or something like that but that rom had to be perfect..,

[Q] Chances of LG updating the G Pro at all?

What do you guys think, will LG even update this phone anymore? to any version, or even another OTA value pack that will bring the cool updated features of the LG G2. The reason I'm asking is because I'm fine with stock right now, but I would love to have the speed boost of a newer version of android, that's the only thing keeping me from rooting and "Roming"? again if they still plan on updating this awesome phone than I have no reason to root and rom. What do you guys think?

If I'm honest, I'd say we MIGHT, slim chance MIGHT, see an update to 4.2. Or maybe just a Value Pack update to bring over some features of the G2.
The advertising for our device was botched, and LG even admitted to it. So, the popularity of this device, isn't as high as it should. I wouldn't expect another update, but then again, LG has surprised me before.
Sent from my Optimus G Pro using Tapatalk
I don't see Lg updating the gpro specially with the Lg g X soon to be out for sell, which is exactly the same phone as the gpro spec wise. I hope Lg proves me wrong but for now Im planning on rooting my gpro rather soon. It's a shame the phone was only an at&t exclusive here in the states or else it would have been much more popular and had more support from at&t.
Is there good support for CM out there? Because of the missing sources I assume, because LG isn't releasing them, I guess.

Yeah download DOT cyanogenmod DOT org/?device=e980&type= there is a stable release for CM 10.2 right now which is 4.3.1. and nightlies for CM 11 which is 4.4.2 or Kit Kat.
And can I flash them if they are not for my device anyway? Because the LG Optimus G Pro isn't supported yet is it?

What can I do with this xposed-framework?
Gesendet von meinem LG-E986 mit Tapatalk
There is a leaked version on 4.2.2 China version floating around the forums, but it is way too buggy to try on other variants. We may see an official 4.2.2 update in the near future, but due to US carriers like AT&T who do like like pushing updates to phones that are not their flagship device, we may nit see that update. But, we can only hope and wait.

You can get certain features that are available in custom ROMs such as Nav bars, Advanced power menus, tweaks to the status bar, tweaks to lockscreen, you name it. Be careful though some of these won't be compatible so I suggest using the gravity box module. It has everything you may need

Custom ROM? Or Wait and Pray?

Hey guys I love the stock but I'm in the mood for something new. So I'm wondering what do people think? Should I flash a ROM and which are good? Or wait and pray the AT&T and LG release the update soon? The only problem I have is last time I had a cyanogen mod I had trouble updating when I used a back up so should I leave everything stock how it is or install a ROM?

The phone doesn't have any similarities other than being from the same company. It will be very hard to port something like that**

If they got it from N5 to G, then the possibilities (with great devs) are pretty limitless.
They didn't get it from the nexus 5, they got it from the nexus 4 that got it from the nexus 5. The nexus 4 and optimus G are soo close together as far as internals that there is a mod that you can change an optimus G to a nexus 4 (as far as software). Where you can actually flash nexus 4 roms onto a Optimus G. Which is why that phone is able to get android L because it's fairly easy to port to.
This phone is great but it has little devwork (yet). So I wouldn't expect a port at all because by the time development really starts android L will already be out.

Optimus G to Nexus 4 link.
Also most of the variants of the LG G3 bootloaders are locked with no solution yet. So things are going to be slow until then as well. As of now it's only the international and that's not enough to spark things.

I have to agree with misterowl, I'd doubt it for a while at least. I mean, we don't even have AOSP/CM/PA yet, so a L port is almost out of the question. But damn, Id love a Cm port. that would be nice.

I hope your right. Even though stock LG rom isn't terribly bad, I do miss my Aokp.
lets first get AOSP 4.4.2, then we can talk about android L, its way too early to talk about that when the bootloader is still lock and there aren't any device configurations on github for devs to build the ROMS

[Q] Stability of GPE ROMs?

Hey, so I'm currently using Insane Kit Kat v4. It's good, nothing really worth keeping it for over stock is there? I just read about Lollipop GPE being available in a few weeks, what's the stability of the GPE Roms when they first come to the T-Mobile Galaxy S4 forums?
The Kit Kat GPE ROM hasn't been updated since August, but it came out several months earlier, what was the stability of that ROM when it first came out? This might give me an idea of the upcoming stability of Lollipop.
Any degradation of data speeds or call quality? (I know pictures will be slightly less clear)
Thanks!

To me there a little sketchy because it is a new rom but as time goes they fix the bugs but its totally up to you
Uhhh... the Google Play Edition ROMS are pretty much solid as a rock. They aren't source-built AOSP with weekly and nightly builds that creates 5 bugs to fix one, they are factory made images for release. You can't go wrong with any of them, whether it's stock theme, modded, from Android 4.2.2 through 4.4.4, regardless of what developer released it, they are all pretty stable.

No. My one and only negative about not having Touchwiz. But in my opinion isn't worth it. GPe is just so much better on all fronts.
My work place since it's built like a Faraday cage you get no cell signal coming in. that's why WiFi calling is a must have
