I have installed cm11 on my galaxy grand and found it to be very smooth, light and using minimal ram. everything is working fine for me except the thing i want to ask in this thread. They are:
1) In the sim pin request page on reboot, the numbers are getting cut as attached by me in the screen shot? why is it so? any soulution for the same?
2) although my phone is rooted and having super user permissions, In the downloading mode of the phone it is showing me device status as official and bin status as custom. Why is the device status being shown official although I am rooted?
3) All applications work fine for me with no fc. But the new google camera which is meant for kitakat versions fc sometimes. What could be the possible reason behind the same?
guys kindly help me out with my queries...Thanks in advance

Edit your Build.prop and lower the DPI. Default is 240. I am using 200. This should make the keypad fit the screen better. The Google Camera FC has nothing to do with the ROM. The Google Play Services was updated. Check out this thread for solution:

that's better 220 seconds left.! thank you!,
edit: sorry for the off topic, will post my changes in this post
Changes:
- looks more like a public release dev tools are gone
- scrolling error seems to be fixed
- looks faster! and more bug free
- root not working yet.
- already annoying extra security (by entering the letters on a picture), when connecting to google servers for the first time
- quadrant 971 and 994
- vibration intensity change is working
- new option in power menu -> data network enabled/disabled
- new option in taskmanager (ram clearing)
- linpack 15 Mflops
- selection function in internet is properly working
Google Sky Map is still uninstallable
Black level @ the youtube player is not fixed.
In the video player, the actual back button (next to the home button) doesn't work. This didn't work in JP2, but worked in JM2.
Also, I know its not a bug, but can't install update.zip thats used for the JP2 firmware to root the device. It says:
E:signature verification failed.
Installation aborted.
A minor bug, which I had with JP2 as well, is that @ online games, I login as a random player. I tried with the JM2 update, and it logged in with my account.
The 2 games is World War and Pocket Empires Online.
android.process.media always FC when mounting the drivers with USB Debugging on. Don't prevent the drivers from being mounted though.
External SD still write-protected.

Froyo on Desire from today, come on Samsung!!
It is confirmed that HTC will be rolling out Froyo on Desire from today. This really puts pressure on samsung, as HTC were initiatally suggesting it would take months, which was obviously propaganda.
engadget.com/2010/07/28/htc-beginning-froyo-rollout-tomorrow-maybe-maybe-not
Would be nice if Samsung make some official statements on the matter!

When you click on windows (tabs) in Internet Browser, they are displayed differently, in a good way

can confirm both issues.
Another bug is that it is not rooted
Alright I tried playing the copter flash game, but I can't seem to full screen, whenever I long hold it shows the zoom in text iphone sort of box.
Any ideas?
- Auto brightness still not go too 100% in bright conditions.
- Video colors bug still there
I take this back
mobile ap doesn't work anymore, usb tethering also doesn't work. flash doesn't work and i can't uninstall the installed one nor can install the .apk. also i got in half an hour playing 3 kernel panics.. very, VERY, buggy. jp2 was a lot more stable than this..
Okay, so I've been updating each nightly ROM and have a small issue. I've gone back to RC1v2 and the issue seems to be there too, although I am now back on the latest nightly (from 11th August).
a lot of apps I have installed - lets take Facebook as a pretty bog standard example - don't show up in the "My Apps" part of the Market app. If I search for it, it says it is installed. If there was an update then it allows me to update it, but still refuses to show it in "My Apps".
Now, if I go to the web version of the Market, it tells me that Facebook is "incompatible with my T-Mobile MB525". Clearly it's lying.
I've tried clearing cache and data from the Market app - still no joy.
I've tried taking the ro.build.fingerprint line of a Defy running stock 2.2 - no luck.
Has anyone else had this problem?
How can I fix it?
Yes I always have this no matter which rom I have.
You can get it to show all apps after you update or download a new app on the market.
Sent from my MotoDefy.
Edit just tried it again amd it didn't work this time!
Edit 2 after clearing the cache (after downloading a new app from the market) it now shows all my apps.

No - that's not helping. For example, I've just searched for "chess" on my phone's market app, found one and installed it. the app does not show in "My Apps", and nor do any other supposedly incompatible ones. Market on web shows installed, and yet incompatible, screen attached.
Right that's a different issue to what I was thinking.
I used to have something similar to this when I was originally on eclair & tried to download apps from the market on my laptop - said they were incompatible as they were for a more recent Android version.
Sorry can't help any further as I've not had the issue on CM7.
hmm - bizarrely I just installed the latest nightly (1116), and now all my market works again. I'm confused, but somewhat happier.
now, if I can just work out why my patcher isn't working to get transparency theming I'll be sorted...

and now it doesn't. Clearly I'm doing something to cause this. Time for an investigation.
okay - the incompatibility comes when I try to rename the camera shutter sound. command I'm using is: mv camera_click.ogg camera_click.bak
Why would that cause this issue?
or apparently any command after mounting /system - at random. I give up.
In case anyone else IS following my ramblings here, I've changed ROM to WajkIUI, done nothing in the system folder, and still have incompatibility in the market.
Reloading a ROM was getting the market working - now not. The whole thing beats me.
gapps
Try flashing the latest gapps from here.
Another idea, try flashing a full nordic stock 2.2 sbf from scratch and applying CM7 again.
thanks - I'm already on the latest gapps.
I don't think flashing the sbf etc again would help, as like I've said - flashing a ROM usually fixes the problem, then I go and change stuff in /system (renaming the camera sound files, and uninstalling OI File Manager so I can get the later version in the market).
Custom dpi (lcd density) seems to cause the "incompatible" problem with the new market.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196417
Going back to 240 dpi and clearing market data makes everything work as it should.
You can then go back to your custom dpi, but most users are reporting the problem comes back after a while.

You're a star. That solved it. Thanks!
I had this issue also. The LCD density fix did nothing for me
i had to make changes to the build.prop file
below are the changes i made
original:
ro.build.description=umts_jordan-user 2.2.1 3.4.2-107_JDN-9 34.4.9 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=MOTO/jordan_tmo_us/umts_jordan/jordan:2.2.1/3.4.2-107_JDN-9/34.4.9:user/release-keys
replaced the above lines with:
ro.build.description=umts_jordan-user 2.2.1 3.4.2-107_JDN-9 34.4.9 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=MOTO/jordan_tmo_us/umts_jordan/jordan:2.2.1/3.4.2-107_JDN-9/34.4.9:user/release-key
these came from my stock froyo TMO ROM
am I blind, or did you really replace two lines with two identical lines?
I had a similar issue, but for some reason I have multiple accounts on for my market and the apps seem to get randomly assigned to another gmail account and will only show up when I go to that account.
I have not had any issues with the compatibility however, and I haven't flashed a new nightly since the end of Sept. but I am about to go with the first Defy stable build from CM so I guess we will see. I will make sure to back-up everything.
I keep getting "This app is incompatible with your Evo" from the Android Market website and the market app (3.0.27) just doesn't give me a download button or show me updates for newer versions of some apps. It was mostly just an annoyance for a while but now the latest Facebook update came out and it won't install. I'm running CM7.1RC1 which is Android 2.3.4, although I never recall having this problem until I updated to the latest Android Market. Any ideas?
I'm also wondering if there's any good way to troubleshoot why the market thinks my device is incompatible (like some sort of reason ... android version too high, screen resolution, etc).
Solution: It turns out this is because I had modified my DPI to set it to 210 instead of 240. Once I set it back to 240 the market showed me 17 new updates. It looks like they're checking to make sure the DPI checks out ... bummer.
I installed CM7.1 nightly 202 and I was able to change my DPI and still use the market without problem. It seems the fix landed in nightly 198 or so.

Check and see if your build.prop includes this line:
Code:
ro.cdma.home.operator.numeric=310120
If not, add it, reboot, and see if it works afterwards.

You could also try updating your Market to the latest version (3.1.3, I believe). There are other Sprint-related lines that might be necessary for it to work, or it might just know that you're not on a Sprint ROM and have gotten smart enough to give you a hard time about with the update to 2.3.4.
That's all I got. Sorry.
I have updated to 3.1.3 and it doesn't seem to change anything. Thanks for your help, really appreciate it.

It'd be better to put this into an EDIT on your first post for others to see first.
*I was also going to ask if you flashed an old version of Google Apps (gapps.zip)
I had this issue a while back when flashing the wrong gapps zip

Man how did you do that? I'm a complete noob and I do not go outside google play store so your problem would not affect me. Is it possible for a noob to do it alone?
I love this phone but I'm looking to change it because more and more apps from play store say "your device does not support blah blah".
It is sm-n7505 and runs JB 4.3.
Thank you anyway.
ur problem is easy to solve!
just make sure you turn off the night mode or any apps that dim the screen
Hi Mi A1 Device Holders,
I was curious of Google Floating Dialler on my device running Android O. So tried a modded APK from one of the threads. However I couldn't install the mod on to my device when it was in Beta stage. After several attempts.
Now Google have released a new version v17 in which the floating bubble dialer is enabled by default. You may refer to the below link.
https://www.xda-developers.com/enable-google-dialer-floating-bubble-2/.
So I wanted to try it again and went to Playstore and it doesn't allow me to download. Tried downloading and installing from Apkmirror. However I couldn't install it.
But I managed to install it with a small tweak.
Here is the Guide:
1. Hold the Phone app Icon and Click App Info
2. Scroll down to Option Phone App. If it is showing YES, you will not be able to install the new app. So you need to change it NO.
Note: You will not be able to do it without another Dialler app installed on your phone. For this, I installed TrueCaller App and then changed it. You may try with other dialer apps.
3. Install the latest app downloaded from ApkMirror or the one attached below.
4. Again, hold the Phone app Icon and Click App Info and shift the Phone App from True Caller(in my case) to Phone app.
5. You are done.
Enjoy :good:
Hit a thanks if you like it
P.S:
I was using v16 which got automatically updated from Playstore from the previous version. On top of that I installed the V17. My device is not rooted and using stock os...and I find absolutely no issues or lag or whatsoever
well in my case i just installed it and it worked voilaa.... Thanks for link
Thanks for the APK. I was able to install but now I can't search for contacts using T9 dialer. I now need to manually tap the search bar on the top and type in the letters.
Even manually searching is really slow and delayed.
Any fix for this?
Edit: The problem goes away if I roll back to the default Phone app, but comes back once I reinstall the above Apk.
What's going on here?

I tried that but it didn't help. Any other ideas?
I figured out the issue! For some reason Google Phone v17 did not work well with Contacts v2.4.
T9 dialling was very slow to search the contacts (10-15 seconds).
I tried everything from reviewing permissions, clearing cache, removing accounts etc. But nothing worked.
Finally I decided to manually check apkmirror and update the Contacts app to v2.5 and presto! Reduced lag when using T9 dialling!!
There is still an ever so slight lag compared to when I roll back to the v13 Google Phone, but it's much more usable now. Hope this helps!

i tried this on my redmi note 4, but when i make a call, history is not logged in new phone app, only in the old one. any suggestions? i hate these gapps [emoji14]
Sent from my Redmi Note 4 using Tapatalk
Have you tried setting the new phone app as the default and disabled the old one?
I was using v16 on January stable build and all was fine then i downloaded apk of v17 from apk mirror and it was also working fine aftert that i changed my rom to new February beta and now after installing v17 when i open phone app a popup appears everytime with a message that this app is not compatible and calls may not work correctly. Even though app was working fine but that popup was irritating me so i modded my phones build prop to pixel xl 2 and now Phone app is compatible with my Mi A1 and i can see it in play store aswell ??????
