Hie Friends I Have News For You... Somehow I Manage to have network on CM11 FXP317... I want to share those steps for you Guys...
Caution...
Steps Are experimental... These steps works for me... Hope they Will work for you too...i'm working On them...
Requirements...
1. XMS with stock 4.3 Rooted With CWM Recovery...
2. CM11 317 or Above (Mine is FXP317) + Gapps
Steps...
1. Boot your 4.3 stock and uninstall all user apps + useless stock apps + Google apps and make your rom clean rooted or you can restore backups of this link
2. Making Maximum free space on Internal Storage is Important otherwise u can not get more installation space on CM11...
3. After this settings boot up in recovery and follow steps below...
wipe cache partition >> Go to mounts and storage >> format data and cache >> Go to Advanced >> format dalvik cache...
(Caution - Don't do wipe data/factory reset or format system or anything which can clean your system partition...)
4. After doing this flash your CM11 Zip directly on base of your 4.3 stock + flash gapps (only if you uninstalled your 4.3 gapps)...
5. After flashing reboot your phone and you will see network on your CM11...
6. In Addition you can use these steps to swap your internal with your SD...
More Tips...
Google apps of our android 4.3 dosent supports in 4.4 cm11 so it is necessary to uninstall all google apps before flashing CM11... otherwise you will get error after flashing CM11...

Huh? Uninstalling apps / deleting files from internal storage fully unnecessary for installing CM.
Because it fits only in /system partition, installation process don't care about free space on internal storage.
And anyway you wipe /data from recovery, so all user apps will be surely deleted and there will be full free space.
System apps will be deleted too:

gapps stored in /system partition
With installing CM11 that partition formatted > all deleted > no "base of 4.3 stock"
There no any reason remove it while phone on 4.3
Cause of your error was something other.

really bro..all these are unnecessary ..
flash 4.3 ftf of c1904 or c1905[i just used c1904] ...boot it once..now power off
now flash cm11 kernel,wipe data,cache,system
now flash cm11 zip,gapps reboot...thats all
using cm11 on XMD [c2004] with working network..

Its unnecessary. /system gets wiped when installing CM11. So no use of installing it over 4.3 stock. You just need to boot into 4.3 baseband and then simply, you have the needed baseband for the CM11 builds.

Updating a ROM!

Here's a quick and easy question.
If I were to update my ROM to the latest version Cyanogen, how would I do that in Clockwork? Is it just choose zip from SD card? (I'm already on CM7 so there's no need to wipe)
Thanks,
Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 7?
Perform a NANDroid backup of your current ROM.
Flash CyanogenMod (your Google Apps will be backed up & restored automatically).

Hmm, my phone seems to freeze once all of my apps have loaded. I may end up doing a wipe.
you can not do anything wrong when you wipe it so...
there is always a chance to brick a phone, but you know what I mean.

How to do a full wipe

This is my first phone that doesn't have an external SD card and I'm not 100% sure how to properly perform a full wipe it
I know this is a noob question, but I just don't want to brick my phone.
What I Used to Do
Back in the day with my SGS Captivate or SGS2 I just put all my files on my external SD card, then via Android (Astro File Manager) I deleted every folder from the internal SD card, booted into CWM, performed a wipe/factory default, cleared cache, formatted system partition and then installed custom ROM and everything worked fine.
What I Need
I want to be sure that I don't brick it so I'm hoping that someone can give me a step-by-step walk-through of how to install CM 10.1 (or any other ROM i guess) on my phone after completely wiping it of anything on it.
What I've Tried
I used the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit to unlock, root and install CWM but unfortunately when I then installed CM 10.1 via CWM, some leftover files remained from the stock ROM.
Basically, my phone is ridiculously slow/lagging and I'm getting sick of it.
I've tried installing a custom kernel (Franco Kernel), I've set the CPU governor on Performance (1200MHz always) uninstalling any un-needed apps... but my phone is still un-usable.
Sometimes when I install the latest nightly of CM 10.1 I do an update and other times I tried doing a full install where I wipe the Dalvik; neither way helps I still get the ridiculous lag.
The definition of a full wipe:
-wipe data / factory reset
-wipe cache
-wipe dalvik cache
-(optional) format system
Then flash the rom/gapps/kernel.
Maybe you have a "bricked" phone. It has something to do with the emmc chip. How much free storage do you have?
Check it by downloading the app in the screenshot.
If you havent a bricked emmc version, then I suggest returning to stock again, and then root again. ( most clean process , as it restores all the partitions to the stock state.)
Hopefully this helps my friend!
PS: you posted in the wrong forum, don't do it in the future

That's not related to development, read the rules next time.
Try the full wipe zip from Android Revolution HD Rom.
Use the pinned guide for fast boot. Use fast boot format/erase commands for all partitions, and for good measure flash to stock with fast boot also. This is the most surefire way and it hasn't failed me yet.

Thanks for the info, I'll be more careful in the future where I post.
I have the 16GB model and 4GB free right now.
I installed the eMMC Brickbug Check app and it says that my chip is ok (sane).
My phone is definately rooted, so I'm not sure why this app says that root is required for the memory test (clicking it just launches wiki page on rooting).

If you're on 4.2.1 you won't see any CWM backups so get ES File Explorer, give it root access and then go to /data/media/clockworkmod and see what's about. Or boot into CWM and delete some old backups
As for a full wipe, I use this before flashing a new ROM:

It totally forgot about the CWM backups
I'll delete those ASAP
There wasn't a lot in the backups folder but there is about 3.82 GB in the blobs folder in the clockworkmod folder; are those ok to delete?
Flash the newest version of CWM (6.0.2.3) as it doesn't use blobs any more. Delete all old backups and take a new one if you want. Also, check when I added to my last post

Thanks a lot, I'll give that a shot tonight.
I'll update CWM to the latest, then run your super wipe zip followed by the latest CM 10.1.
Thanks a lot for the super wipe zip too.
After wiping and flashing go ahead and run fix permission too.

Thanks guys, my phone is usable again
You guys are awesome.
What I Did
- installed the latest CWM using fastboot
- booted into recovery
- used adb to sideload your super wipe script, then the latest CM 10.1 nightly and then the latest gapps
- fixed permissions via CWM
- restarted my phone to get a very responsive phone again
With my last 2 phones I was spoiled having external SD cards so that i never had to sideload or use fastboot (I let Odin do that part).

In process of making full 2.67 ftf. will make a seperate one tmrw with only baseband and kernel just its 3:08 am and almost passing out waiting for stuff to be done sorry will continue tmrw
Finally, a stock deodexed .67 rom. My prayers have been answered. This was made specifically for the C6506? I'd like to have an LTE icon instead of just plain 4G. Thanks.
Not sure about 4g icon or lte icon but if i can modify somehow to change it so it shows lte, then it will be done I am still working on making the 2.67 ftf and from then I have to make a flashable .zip from it tht can be flashed through cwm and then I have to port the xperia z rom over So I have my work cut out for me And not to mention I have my daily life to live too so I can't be doing this 24/7 lol. That would just drain me.
Waiting!

cant flash via cwm.. getting error massage
Did you do full wipe of /system /data /cache /dalvik cache? in cwm? and did you do everything in the instructions?
Can you deodex this rom?
That can always be done through an app from the play store long as you have root
I don't see any app that does it. What is it specifically?
I also get an error when trying to flash this.
"E:Error in /storage/sdcard1/ROM.zip"
There's no MD5 signature to verify. I am using CWM v6.0.4.4 and coming from the latest CM 10.2 Nightly.
android tuner is able to do it. its a free app
i made this by simply putting it all together so make sure you don't have signature verification on in cwm otherwise it won't work. Its just basic stock odex. Deodex is easy with android tuner and root is required for android tuner of course.

Could be my mistake, or bad download...but flash did occur, without any error messages. However, it simply did not copy any files. All I was left was a SONY logo. Had to press off inside SIM compartment and use flashtool to fresh install a FTF via flashmode.
Is it me or I just can't see an option in android tuner for deodexing the rom.
when u optimize all apps it deodexs it automatically and tht its all in the settings its really extensive though u have to go through everything to find it. everything can be set on boot pretty much
So, this is a deodexed rom? or not a deodexed rom?
What does it say in the title of the thread?

Says odex... but some of the posts left me wondering...
at this point, I think I want to say with deodexed...

[Q] Insufficient Storage Space - GAPPS

Was trying to follow this posts guidelines for CM11 since so many people are having problems getting data:
MonstaDriva said:
I assume your on sprint . Your actually doing more stuff than is required or needed . Instead of loading Jellybean I'd one click ICS FL24 Rooted NoData from Rwilco
Then mobile odin and load El29 DirectBoot kernal also at rwilco . Its the only one I've ever used and worked flawlessly always . Its imperative that while your booted into FL24 you need to go ahead and update your profile and prl and make sure your telephony and data us all working and ready to go before you flash EL29 or anything else . Mobile odin and flash EL29 . Once you load el29 cwm flash HoodPope Nov 22 build and you don't have to boot into the rom , just hold your keys and go right back into recovery . You don't have to do that x2 stuff and by flashing FL24 you already have the modem you need if your on sprint . Then just flash Villumnati and pa gapps mini modular . Before you flash Villmanti do factory data reset , wipe cache and wipe Dalvik , flash Vil and Gapps and there ain't a reason in the world you shouldn't be up and running fine with data . There is no trick with this rom and its not that finicky about gapps . It runs great .
As Kthomson said in the next post you could forego loading Hoodpope and just load the Blasphemy kernal he recommended instead .

Everything goes pretty well except when i get to the part reset data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, and flash Vil and Gapps my gpapps complains:
Code:
"PA GApps Mini modular 4.4.2 - 20140307
mounting system....
andriod 4.4.x. rom detected
insufficient sotrage space available in system partition. you may want to use a small gapps (micro gapps)
Should i be trying to flash micro gapps? Why can't the phone even handle the mini? I can boot into CM11 now but tons of crashing since i was unable to update gapps, plus still no data.
Yes, use the micro gapps. When CM11 flashed on the device. It takes up about 400 or megs of the system partition. Our device has 503MB total for the system partition. Mini gapps in total is around 125-128 I believe. Add the 400 megs and how many megs the mini gapps are... Insufficient room in the system partition.
As for data, flash the Jan 12 build and make sure you are on an ICS modem.

I would rather suggest the DHO gapps on the VANIR thread under original development. Its right about 80MBs and has always booted right up with any rom I run and I'm a flashaholic to say the least. Apps are debloated way down in size and have some nice tweaks. Just my 2 cents. With a flash
Look to get micro. Its 86

[Q] format preload failed [ newbie has a lot of question, sorry ]

well erm
I am now using cm11 linaro rom
1). before flashing this rom, i did follow instruction, at the part of format preload, it failed but i just keep on going to flash it
now, my camera is very lag, and during the panorama mode, it became worse than the stock rom
does that matter the camera problem ?
2). what is I wanna flash other custom ROM into my device, is there any difference between flashing custom rom from custom rom and from stock rom ? and is it just follow the instructions the gave ?
3). what if I want to flash back the same rom, should I follow the instruction again ? because i doubt that the "format preload" step affected my camera quality.
4). what if the format preload steps failed again, what shoud i do ?
I know its really lots of questions but im just about to start rooting and flashing my device one week ago
and so, i did follow the cultural here, search before ask, and i didnt get my answer
Thanks if you helping me out

1) Aosp roms are not on power with Stock samsung camera ,alternative to that would be using Lenovo camera (I use this while on AOSP roms),I dont think panaroma mode works on it but other features works really well and better than AOSP and on power with Samsung camera.
2) custom rom to custom rom meaning you are already rooted so you just need to flash the new rom after doing the wipes ,flashing a stock rom via odin and then flashing a custom recovery and then making the correct wipes and then flashing a custom rom (unless you download a stock pre rooted stock rom from xda ,you can flash it via custom recovery arleady and just do the wipes)
3) To avoid formatting preload (although not sure why it gave you error) but you could use TWRP recovery instead ,it works just as good with AOSP roms and to do the wipes follow this Go to wipe, click on Advanced Wipe and choose Dalvik Cache, Cache, System , Data & Internal Storage. Now go back to main menu and flash the ROM.
Hope this helps.

2) sorry what i mean is, do I have to wipe all those data or caches no matter what ROM i am in as my device is rooted and custom recovery installed ?
3) so the problem is now, can i straight away wipe the Dalvik Cache, Cache, System , Data & Internal Storage and straight away reboot system ?

1) I mean the AOSP cameras are not as good as Samsung Stock cameras.
2) Yup unless you are flashing an upgrade of the SAME rom (especially AOSP) then you can just install the ROM.re install gapps wipe cache and dalvik (your apps will remain intact) but if you are switching from AOSP to Touchwiz or vice versa full wipe is must.
3) No you cannot reboot system cause those options especially system ,data and internal storage wipes your phone basically NO ROM is installed on your phone so you need to go back in main menu of twrp choose install and navigate to external card and flash the desired ROM of choice

Just don't use the AOSP camera unless you want to delete it? Then either go to system/app or system/priv-app and search for the stock camera file on and delete it.
