I have used ADB backup before and have 2 backup files saved. i am trying to backup my Galaxy Note 2 and it wont seem to work. It is running 4.1.2 stock rom. I have rooted it since my last backup and now it doesnt seem to work. I have tried with SDK tools updated fully and copied the adb files into the correct folder. I have also tried deleting all sdk files and only updating to 4.1.2 and it still doesnt work. I have done it before using the command prompt but this time it seems to fail.
It recognizes my device and my device has debugging mode on. But when I run the backup command as I always have it says unable to connect.
Any suggestions or help? I really want to backup everything since I almost just bricked my phone by spilling water on it. But got it cleaned and used Odin to get it working again. I want to full backup just in case it bricks out again.

Anyone have any ideas? If not another way to fully backup everything? My phone is rooted.

So i'm running ParanoidAndroid ROM on my phone and have flashed at least 8 ROM's to my phone, each time praying I don't lose my IMEI since there seems to be no rhyme or reason why people are losing it. So I finally decided I should backup my IMEI just in case. I chose to use Geek's method to do so since it seems the easiest way to do it, however, typing out the lines of script manually seems awfully tedious so I decided to try to use gScript Lite. Problem is I have no idea what the hell i'm doing.
This is what I have done so far:
Installed GSL on my phone. Installed Notepad+ on my Windows 7 PC and copied and pasted the lines of script to NPP, one for enabling diag mode and one for disabling diag mode. After copying each set of script to NPP, I saved the file as a .sh file. At this point I think I should move said files to my sdcard and import them via GSL. Does this sound about right? I have no clue here and am just winging it but would like some input from those who know what's up before I fuxor my phone.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
**Edit**
I went ahead and saved the file to my sdcard in the gscript folder and imported them and created the scripts

Look about right?
When I was first unlocking/rooting I had some issues when it came to installing a recovery. I wanted twrp but what happened is that after installing I was unable to boot into it. I flashed it multiple times and it seemed to write, but I could not boot into it. So I tried cwm and was able to get into of the first time. I don't have an issue with cwm, its just with the bottoms on the n7 it makes it harder to use. I want a touch recovery but don't see a working cwm touch yet. What do I have to do to get twrp installed correctly?

Another issue is wherever cwm installed itself isn't the usual place. My backups are not on my SD as normal. Instead they are @ :
Is there any way to fix this without going back to stock or losing data?
Thanks

You should just be able to flash the twrp.img file from a command prompt. It will replace your CWR completely. Look in the general section for a post on unlocking/rooting/recovery it's pretty strait forward.

Zenfone 2 quick resources
Started collecting resources here

Their are more than a few ways to root ZF2.. I chose this method after a few failed attempts with some others..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/root-newbie-root-instructions-zenfone-2-t3114063
It is important to know that in order to use root properly, as I found out the hard way, an unlocked bootloader is a must before trying to add a recovery or rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/congrats-to-bootlocker-unlocked-t3138547
The reason I say this is because I took the first update and then rooted.. This was bad.. Almost every attempt to unlock bootloader afterward failed.. Couldn't update. Couldn't factory rest. So what was I to do? Luckily this wasn't my first rodeo.. After hours of xda searching and kicking my own ass, I started to remember," hey I have a brain let,s look up Asus support for phones".. Sure enough in black and white I was saved.. Now mind you guys.. You will have to use adb or fastboot tools as almost all of these instructions require sideloading or fastbooting.. So as GP I downloaded all above updates and went through them all erasing one after the other once updated to conserve the 16gig version I'm using. So grab updates add to root of internal storage using PC and USB cable, pull from USB after downloading and Boom..Phone will auto recognize update hit install and your good..

Hey all.
I've recently got internet problems here and I've decided to use my phone as a modem, like I've been doing in the past with previous phones.
However, now I got a laptop with Win 10 and an LG G3 phone, and is giving me quite a headache.
Yes, I already uncovered developing options.
No, I have not rooted my phone ((should I?))
Everything runs smoothly until the last part of the installation when this happens:

Ironically, I can open my phone via file explorer no problem, and transfer files back and forth to the internal & SD card folders.
I even transferred the .apk for the PDAnet installation to the phone and installed it there manually... but every time I enable the USB mode it crashes miserably and I have to restart.
Any suggestions? advice?
Many thanks in advance.

You don't need pdanet. Delete it completely, reboot, connect usb, enable usb tethering, let win10 install stock drivers. That's all.
i could do that.
but then sprint will charge me for tethering.
Hi. I have a phone, not mine, given to me broken in this state, so not sure how it got into this state. I can only reboot it into recovery mode:

}
Some things.
1. Volume up doesn't work. Apparently it didn't work when the phone was working.
I wonder if it's stuck in some position that forces it to go into this mode??
2. Tried to wipe cache and wipe data/factory reset, doesn't help.
3. Tried the "Apply update from ADB", and when I pick that, it tells me to run 'adb sideload <filename>'. So I tried to get stock firmware (G960WVL9FUJ1_G960W)YV9FUJ1_FMC.zip) and tried to sideload that from PC. Always gets stuck verifying the package (and 0% on PC adb).
Wasn't sure if I was supposed to do it with the zip or the files within the zip. Tried both and no luck
4. Tried to do it with SD card, it failed immediately (forget the error, could try to reproduce and tell you error if you think it will help).
5. Tried to use Odin. Cannot get Odin to recognize the phone at all.
I think drivers are installed properly (would adb devices work if the drivers weren't installed right??).
Not sure what else to try next.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks!
