i am curious about the roms that i can use with my s3,
like i was thinking about CM10 or something like slim bean
i like both of the two i am not sure which one i can flash, like the slim bean because its light, but i have always liked CM10 lol.
So i am looking for some opinions on both if i can get them would be appreciated, but i like their are people who have tapatalk that says sent from sgh-i747 but i am not sure if their are running roms or not so i need some help on this situation. I am really stumped so anyone can you please help me and feel free to pm me if you have too.
Any of the ROMs in Android Development and Original Development are safe to flash once you have a recovery installed. Make sure you have CWM 5.8, 6.0 or TWRP 2.2 installed or you won't be able to flash the ROMs. Just pick whatever you like most.

Yes, there is a thread for it in development. It should be posted in the thread labelled directory. Make a nandroid too.

I just recently downloaded the latest kitkat carbon nightly rom for my T-Mobile GSII t989. Nice features--but I noticed WiFi/data calling doesn't work. How can I get it to function? Is there anything additional that I can flash to get this feature back?

WIFI calling only works on Touchwiz ROMs. I think the newest Touchwiz roms are Jellybean 4.1.2
There is also nothing you can flash to make it work. cwyman hit it right on the head. Flash back to a Touchwiz based rom and you have your WiFi calling back.
That sucks. Thanks, will do

Are there any links I can be directed to? Is there a rooted stock T-Mobile jellybean rom available (t989) that I can download & flash on this phone?

This is the one I've used on one occasion. It's basically what you would find out of the box, only rooted and de-odexed... There's also other stock based custom roms out there, but I can't say much for those as I never was interested in stock based custom roms.

im upgrading to the Galaxy S3 Boost mobile version in a month from the Infuse 4G and i wanted to know what roms can i run on it with everything working?
From what I've read, Boost and Virgin Mobile SPH-L710s can run all of the same ROMs Sprint ones can 100%.

I believe right now only 3g and MMS or 4g and no MMS. There's a 4g fix that breaks MMS. Did it to 2 boost s3s. Read HERE post 1 and 2. You must also remove asserts for ROMs that ARE NOT unified builds, which is explained in post 2 of the above link, or you may have recovery issues.
EDIT:Seems as if theyve gotta working 4g fix with mms for some.
has the boost s3 received the 4.4. update yet?

Heresay again, but I believe I saw someone on Boost mention it. No Boost specific tar or OTA uploaded here, though, AFAIK.

Boost and VM users are getting the OTA update. However, from what I've read, only users who are on their ORIGINAL stock MK5 build, unrooted, have successfully flashed it. What that means is, that if you are rooted and running custom recovery, simply flashing the stock MK5 tar back to original doesn't seem to do the trick. Folks who have gotten the update notice and then flashed back have not gotten the notice again, and Kies is saying they are up to date. And it fails when trying to flash the update.zip from stock recovery from sd card OR adb sideload. Needless to say, as my long winded explanation alludes to, I'm following this diligently and am trying my best to get it solved. Stay tuned!

You can root by ODINing the Philz Recovery tar and using it's option to check if rooted. Or flash the latest SuperSU.zip, just Google it.

4.4.2 can be rooted. But do me a favor. Don't take the ota. Try to see if kies shows you need an update. We need to try and capture the Boost/VM KK tar. If it shows you are able to update to NDC via kies, send me a pm and I'll talk you through how to catch the tar!

Think I wasn't clear enough with my explanation. I'm running MIUI which updates every week through OTA updates. Instead on flashing a full ROM every week would like my phone set up where I can receive updates. This is where the OTA package comes in that I need. Have to make certain modifications along with a MIUI ROM and flash it.

Hi again! Sorry I haven't really played with AOSP variants on this phone so I can't answer. Are you saying the MIUI ROM doesn't come already set up to do the automatic OTAs and that they don't tell you how to set it up that way in the ROM thread?
Hopefully someone who has experience with this can jump in here or they can answer in the MIUI thread unless you already tried that.
