Root .42 & Update to .62
If u want to update OTA ........

b) Root your phone which is running on .42 firmware using the latest Flashtools v 0.6.8
Note :
i.First install Flash tool.
ii.Connect the phone in Flash Mode
iii.Flash it with 4.0.2.A.0.42
iv.Turn on the phone when flashing complete
v.Connect the phone with usb debbuging enabled.
vi.Open the Flashtool
vii. Then press the lock icon on flashtool.
viii.Phone will automatically reeboot after done
c) After rooting update your phone OTA
You can try using Wifi/3G/Edge

I want to revert all the settings and everything to stock, I have the phone rooted, bootloader locked, what can I do?
You can still flash a stock Sony Rom (ftf) as it is signed and will work with locked bootloaders, as long as it's the right one for your device.
Sent from my R800i using XDA
Open Flashtool and go into Flash Mode, Hold down Back button while you connect the USB cable, then select firmware in the dialog and wait for it to flash.
Thanks, I've done that. I wasn't just sure if I could use Flash Tool with locked bootloader
I'm looking to flash my Xperia zl but the process requires flashtool and a original firmware. My question is what good is cwm? Can we not flash roms from recovery like I do on my Transformer 700?
Or do I really need to use flashtool flash a original firmware reroot then go to recovery factory reset wipe and then flash New Rom?

Flashtool is only needed if you want to flash Sony stock rom or kernel files.
For flashing any AOSP rom (like CyanogenMod or PACman rom) or mods you need cwm recovery.
If you already have cwm just reboot your phone. On startup Sony logo just press volume + or - to enter cwm.
If not, I recommend NUT's DualRecovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288118).
With locked bootloader you are not able to flash any kind of AOSP kernel.
AOSP roms need unlocked BL.
Flashtool can unlock your BL if its rootable (some carriers do not allow this).
BUT:
Before unlocking BL, make a backup of your TA partition! --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
thank you
I seen a Rom for locked bootloaders and I thought why can't I just flash this way I did with tablet I got the Rom for a locked BL.
I got the RomAur 9.0. Thanks for quick reply wasn't sure if I should proceed or not till I cleared that up.

I'm running eXistenZ Ultra Edition http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385313
You should try it, at the moment its the finest rom for our beloved ZL
This rom is based on .67 stock rom. Before that I was on .423 stock rom.
In order to run without problems, I had to first flash .67 stock rom with flashtool, reroot, reinstall DualRecovery and then flash eXistenZ rom.
So if you're going to flash a custom rom based on a different stock kernel than the one you're already on, first flash that stock rom with flashtool.
You can skip this step, but you might run into connection problems with wifi and data.
First flash .67 stock rom with latest flashtool.
Use this guide to get root access: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2388946
For the 11. step use this .67 kernel: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0duxzJgPpcyX3hhbV9wVFQ4R0E/edit?usp=sharing
You have to close flashtool BEFORE you use DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18 !
After the root, flash NUT's "lockeddualrecovery2.6.3-RELEASE.windows.zip" : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2288118
For the rooting process you'll need "unknown sources" and "usb debugging" checked.
Take care to follow every step as described and you should be good again. :good:

After everything is done, don't forget to wipe dalvik cache..
So if i can summarize, if I don't need to flash CM or AOSP Roms, and only flash rom based on Stock I don't need to unlock the bootloader ?
If I use flashtool 0.9.13, it won't unlock the bootloader ? because while i was reading their welcom page http://www.flashtool.net/index.php
I had a feeling that it unlock the bootloader, is that an option or it do it when i flash a stock rom with it ?
What are the advantages of unlocking bootlader a part from being able to flash CM AOSP based rom and kernels ?
Hi
Hope you can help. My aim originally was to upgrade from 4.0.3 to Slimkat 4.4.4 but I have never done anything like this before and I have messed it up. I was using this guide http://droidors.com/2014/07/07/upda...android-4-4-4-kitkat-with-slimkat-custom-rom/ but deviated from it when the guide didn't work for me.
I upgraded to 4.0.4 using PC Companion.
I unlocked the bootloader on my Arc S and rooted using Eroot. Then I tried to install a custom recovery from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1345741&page=2 which said I had to go back to 2.3.4. I did this using Emma from Sony Mobile.
After the custom recovery tool installed I loaded the Slimkat files onto the sd card and booted to the recovery mode but got an error when trying to install Slimkat (it said something about the update is for LT18i but my device is "" (which it isn't?!)
Anyway after that didn't work I wanted to just go back to normal 4.0.4. I couldn't get Backup TA working before I unlocked the bootloader so I have lost the DRM keys.
The custom ROMs I have seen all seem to require stock 4.0.4 so I seem to be stuck on 2.3.4.
I am so confused, if anyone can help either with getting me back to a version of 4.0.4 or my original goal of Slimkat that would be much appreciated.
Thank you

You can anytime revert back to 4.0.4 stock rom:
1. download flashtool http://www.flashtool.net/ if you don't have it already.
2. download stock firmware from http://www.4shared.com/rar/cwrJE_jE/Lt18i_41B0587_1254-8596_Generi.html?refurl=d1url
3. Placing firmware in flashtool. Note: only .ftf format files to be placed. If the file is of .rar/.zip then extract it to get .ftf file
Copy .ftf to C:/>flashtool>firmwares
4. Run Flashtool>Click on the flashing button>Select flashmode>Ok
On they very left side you'd see the firmware name and version. In the middle the contents of it and on the very right side some options. Mark them as shown below.
5. Select OK. Now flashtool will prepare files and ask you to connect your phone. Follow the steps.
On devices with no hardware back key, use volume down key while connecting
OR
after that use this to root:
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Andro...Smartphones-2011-and-2012-Xperias/td-p/287857
then you can flash any 4.4.4 rom
hi guys,
first of, forgive me If I cannot utilize google or xda's search engine for looking a good solution to my issue, I just cannot think of the right keywords to look for.
for several months now, I currently have CM11 fxp334 by pencam and Bootloader is unlock. Recently Im encountering random reboot issues and I think its getting worst and I am not sure if it has something to do with my link2sd, because at times when it does randomly reboots, I lose some apps that are link to my sdcard after booting.
1) Im thinking of either updating to the latest CM11(or CM12) nightly builds (I have cwm obviously) to assume that latest builds have less bugs
2) or is it possible to use cwm in trying to install/flash stock xperia M firmware because CM seems to be a power hog based on my own observation vs stock sony 4.3 JB. If this can be done, can some good soul point me to the right direction please.
I have my rest days, I hope I can use it by fixing my phone. Thank you.
Just flash your stock .ftf file to go back to stock.
You will have to reflash recovery tho.

flash by using cmw, or flashtool? can cmw recognize a *.ftf file?
and when you said that I will have to reflash recovery, I can still use the cmw recovery that Ive previously used with my CM11 together with stock sony rom?

flash it with flashtool fastboot mode
