No luck.. i can only create a folder but cannot move any files
I wonder why they bothered to put a 128GB SD slot when its useless
HTC Support said its restriction from Google but my friend with a Z1 has no issues with his KitKat..

Htc has also restricted the write access on micro sd cards AFAIK . to remove the restriction, u'll have to unlock it and flash the patch.
Check in developmwnt thread for more info but ,be warned, it'll void your warranty

I wrote to HTC on this. But the reply what I received is:
Thank you for your prompt reply.
In regard to your query, Google changed the design on Android KitKat 4.4.2 to protect micro SD content for security improvement purpose and that is the reason why you are unable to move the contents to SD Card by using some file manager application until the vendors release the new software version to follow Google Android Kitkat design.
You may try to use your PC to move the content to SD card by connecting your phone to your PC temporarily.
We do apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Have a nice day!

I have an htc desire rooted and have a 4gb sd card.
i put the .apk file in the sd card and access it with file explorer in the mobile.
how can i install the .apk file directly to sd card instead of installing it in the mobile storage?
thanks
I don't think it's possible, but what you can do is install it normally and and then use Application Manager to move it to SD. (Apps to SD or a2sd)
Perhaps you already know this so sorry if i'm preaching to the quior!
Of course the ROM has to support this as well as the App. If i remember correctly i think this was supported officially from 2.2 onward. (Froyo). Custom ROMs, especially Cyanogenmods, usually have this feature working out of the box.
so is there anyway of doing it up to today?
Of course. It's called a2sd.

adb install -s /patch/to/file

Hi here an odd way by the way:
as far as I know in the mixui10ml (as a custom rom 4 xperia ray search 4 it)there is such ability but u should unzip it and find and test apk files and install them to find out which one do such thing
I personally do other work ... copy all apk file in to my new downloaded custom rom and replace them and it works great!
and i should that point this apk isnt like apk2sd & other silly apk... it added in to system as a property and automatically run whenever an apk install.
its the only *(hard but real) way* that i find by searching in 2 years!!! sorry 4 my poor EN just want to help!
at last I find the name of that apk!!: "package installer.apk"!
Hi.
Just purchased a SM-T800 and was wondering if there is an easy fix for me to be able to write to my SD Card? Do I need to be root to be able to do this ?

Kit Kat changed the way sd cards work.
The easiest way i know to fix this is to Root your device and then install this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix
I have the tab s 8.4 and have a micro SD card coming in this week. I might be misinterpreting this post but does Kit-kat really not let the user copy over downloaded files onto external storage? I'm the kind of guy that usually immediately roots but was enjoying the stock experience for once. Definitely a bummer if this turns out to be true.
No, it let's you do it fine. But you have to use the My Files app. Not the app of your choice. Unless you root and change that.

I use Chrome and yes now I have torrent fixed to download large files to my SD card
ES File Explorer File Manager
With this app, you DON'T have to ROOT your device, and you can copy/move file from device to SD-card vice versa:

You need to be rooted and applied the app to sd card fix before you can download torrents direct to sd card. Otherwise you can download straight to your tablet then transfer to sd card using the my files app.

You can't transfer apps to SD , from the Playstore "AT ALL", unless you are ROOTED.

I cannot copy or move anything using ES. The only workaround I found is connect the tablet to a PC and copy or move the files with widows explorer.

Tried the app you linked and unfortunately it did not work. My problem was finally resolved with the Wanam Xposed application SD card fix. That works fine if anyone else has any trouble. But honestly it is so irritating that any of this is necessary to get full use of my device. I am rocking 128 gigabytes loud and proud
Okay well maybe not. Big file I was moving to SD is now gone and I can longer write to the SD. Bummer. No idea what went wrong.
Second edit: so the JRummy Apps "SD Fix" on the Play Store seems to have me covered for now. Fingers crossed...
Third edit: Gahh once again read only. No idea what the issue is. SD appears empty, can't read or write. Any help would be appreciated. For now I have a useless slice of plastic sitting in my otherwise perfect tablet.

On my Note 3 (also on Android 4.4.2), ES File Explorer works correctly with copying/moving files from/to SD-card...
Strange it's not working on the Tab S...

I had this problem with my 32gb sandisk card, it even said made for android on the packaging but it was very unreliable, sometimes there and sometimes not, even tried the usual test apps for these sdcard on my pc and they reported genuine with no errors. In the end i decided to buy a samsung 64gb card and it works reliably with stock apps but i have not got around the kitkat restriction cos i dont want to root yet.

any suggestions ?
guys?
In Android 4.4.2 you can not delete files from the memory card.
There probably is a fix somehow.. but perhaps only for rooted phones.
Possibly move the files to internal storage then delete from there?

filtering 2000 songs while riding on electric scooter is much more easier by clicking delete in the app , than moving files around

You can delete the files on the SD card with the stock LG file explorer app that comes with the phone.

Hello there everyone, I was scrolling through my storage using androzip, when I found this folder called "Discover new apps." I found it weird as I never saw this before and when I tried deleting it....it just won't delete . I tried wiping the internal sd card and using the external as a restore from a way earlier backup and sadly to say it's still there...

Don't worry, it's just a feature in the file manager. It's not a file which is inside your internal or external sd card. It's just in the file manager.
