Hey everyone,
I'm rooted on 4.4.2 with Knox 0x0. Does anyone know how to update to the newest update while staying rooted and keeping Knox from being flagged?
Thanks!

My first post here and my first Android device.
Bought a Note 10. 1 2014 last week at Future Shop with firmware version MJ4. Heard that MK1 is the latest update but I could not find where its available. Tried Software Update in Setting function but it said my firmware is the most current. Is MK1 update coming to Canada soon?
I also bought mine from future shop almost 2 weeks ago and I'm running mj4 and it is telling me no updates available

I just flashed the ones posted via Odin..probably the fastest way to get them right now because Samsung Canada is useless.

Is the procedure explained somewhere and does it need root? Can I for example flash whatever 3rd firmware is available atm into my North European Note?
I'm totally fed up with waiting for something that is ready already and imo should have been there from the start... My tablet's major use is semi public and at the moment it's useleff for that.

Did the flashing trip the KNOX counter? Did it remain with normal status in the system info?
I'm in Canada too and also wondering why we are not getting the update. I asked in the Facebook page of Samsung Canada and as usual they don't have any information: "We don't have information about upcoming updates as of now, but when we do, we will let you know. Thank you"
I flashed mk1. The status is official. I don't think it tricks knox bit.

Where did you find a "Canadian" version of the update? I looked on Sammobile.com and did not see one listed for CAN or USA. Thoughts?
Thank you kindly in advance,

There is no "Canadian" version. Just use the region XAR. I downloaded from http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-P600. I flashed with Odin 3.09. This was done before rooting. After flashing, the status still showed official.
As for root?

Yes. I used cf-auto to root and tripped the knox. In fact I used TWRP 2.6.1 first but it run into boot loop. Then I used cf-auto to root and flash TWRP 2.6.0 (don't flash 2.6.1).

Do not root yet. There is some problems with KNOX security we need to pass first. I did root with CF-auto, but seems like some people have problem

Thanks. Did not know Knox was in the S3 version but was in S4 version to be in U.S. Will hold off on rooting until someone lets me know it is Safe with CF-auto.
Hi everyone,
I want to root my Galaxy SIII which is currently running Touchwiz 4.3 from last week's official update but I can't find any guides on how to do it for this specific android version, only 4.1.1 and 4.1.2. If anyone could write a tutorial here or send me in the correct direction that would be much appreciated!
Thanks

When you root your phone, I believe that superuser/supersu asks if you want to disable Knox.

4.4.4 is built for security, means towelroot don't work. (cause apps can integreat towelroot in their programs and than collect all userdata and send to a server or something) Just the negative side of towelroot

Rooting doesn't trip Knox. Flashing a custom recovery or kernel will put the counter at 0x1.

Here's the issue I'm having, that thread linked says it will flash a pre-rooted NJ1 rom - ok fine... But as far as I can tell, no one has specifically said they have flashed his pre-rooted rom on top of a stock NJ1 rom. They've all upgraded to NJ1 from NE# using his method.
Obviously the NJ1 'upgrade' was at least in part an attempt to prevent rooting, and I'm not experienced enough to unbrick (or effectively undo) whatever may happen in a botched attempt.
I'm assuming once you're on NJ1 stock rom, rooting is not possible?

I used Odin to flash the latest CF Auto Root for the phone, even without rooting a phone for at least a year (out of practice) I did it in less than 40 secs.

Finally I rooted it without too many problems, I had to re-install super su, but after all, it wasn't too complicated.
The difficult part was to enable tethering, because most fixes still need an AT&T chip.
The solution was this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/themes-apps/xposed-moto-x-4-4-native-tether-apk-t2601859
Thnak you very much for everything,

The file for NJ1 is the file listed for SAMSUNG-SGH-I747, which is http://download.chainfire.eu/235/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-d2att-d2uc-samsungsghi747.zip
You will see that the files inside the zip are updated after NJ1 was released.

It's not an stupid question because probably you saw 4.0.4 at the CF Auto Root page, that's just the first Android version that the s3 i747 used, now the latest official android version is 4.4.2
