Help...I can't go back to sense rom - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a tmo m8, that I rooted using the toolkit, and then flashed the GPE rom, which has worked with no issues.
However, like many of you, I want the option to go back.
I have tried several methods found on xda, but nothing works.
I found the page with the collection of firmwares and such for different cid's, and still had no luck.
In my understanding, I should just be able to load the stock tmo sense rom onto my sd, go into TWRP, and "install" the zip file, then wipe cache and delvik, and be good to go.
Ideas?

Did you just flash the rom or do the conversion?

You have to flash the sense firmware in RUU first..did you do that?

Never mind, I assumed you did conversion. But it wouldn't hurt though to try flashing the firmware in RUU. By the way, this should be moved to the questions and answers thread.

Yes. Find the conversion thread. Start over. I've done it twice and went back to sense with no problems.

Syko,
I appreciate it, but this is the process to go back from full ruu conversion.
I only unlocked bootloader, rooted, custom recovery and flashed the GPE rom.
Now, I want to flash back to the stock, tmobile sense rom.

Oh no. I'm not a expert but s-off is important. Use fire water to do that.

This is what I would do if it was me.
First things first
Get s-off, & super cid .. this could be the problem, not being s-off.
Try to flash a sense Rom..
if it still doesn't work then do the gpe conversion, then go back to sense Rom afterwards. Follow instructions..I've converted twice to gpe and went back sense Rom with no issues.. I'm using sense Rom as we speak.
Good luck

sykko,
Mine is one of the devices that cannot achieve s-off via firewater, so I cannot do any of that.
Thanks

go to twrp recovery select advance wipe tick data, cache, delvik cache, and system.
after that completes then press the home button then install a sense based rom.

Thread needs to be moved, but if op used the gpe ruu to achieve the gpe rom then flashing any sense rom that isn't mrjaydee82's sense rom that fits in the gpe reduced system partition will suffer from one of several problems that render phone unable to boot into Android until some fixing is done... If he just flashed one of the gpe roms as a zip in recovery then merely flash any sense rom.

I should have read more of the thread, op didn't use the ruu. Just wipe everything but microsd in twrp and flash a sense rom. Not working because sense and gpe are wildly different, and big changes necessitate full wipes. Not wiping system and data is likely to be why you are failing.

Via fastboot getcid
Then find the appropriate ROM for your cid #.

You will also need to relock the bootloader and flash stock recovery, check this guide for detailed steps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859714

Stock RUU

Ok the first thing I did when I got my HOX was root it and flash a custom ROM. However I've never been fully satisfied that I'm getting the best battery life. Don't get me wrong, I think the chef's on here do a great job and the improvements they bring to the "experience" is immeasurable. For me though, battery life is paramount and I think I had that on stock.
So my question is: I've seen a lot of complicated instructions on returning to stock but on previous phones (such as Hero etc) it was just a question of running the RUU.exe on PC connected to the phone. What happens if I do this with the HOX?
If you use stock recovery, the right ruu should run. Doesn't run if you use custom recovery or hboot in ruu is older than that on the phone. Also phone's cid must match ruu's

RUUs run fine if you have a custom recovery, you just have to make sure you're using the right one and you've relocked the bootloader
It's been awhile since I did it but afaik you must have stock recovery and bootloader can be unlocked. Just the opposite of what EddyOS says. Go figure.

I had to flash my RUU the other day to get the JB OTA and just relocked the bootloader and away it went. The RUU replaces the recovery so the version on the phone isn't important

I know for 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 ruu's, it was as I described. Maybe things got changed with JB ruu.

Thanks to everyone for the answers so far. Based on the above, do I lock the bootloader before or after running the ruu?

There isn't a JB RUU yet and won't be until it's been released (in the next few weeks hopefully)
To the OP - you HAVE to relock the bootloader to be able to run the RUU. So long as you have the right RUU for your phone you'll be fine
Cheers everyone. I am now back to a rooted, stock HOX :good:

[Q] Bricked? Really need help

Hey,
my english isn't that good, I'm sorry for this.
The last weeks I've beet trying some roms. Everything was okay.
Today I tried Android Renovate. I flashed the Kernel, wiped everything (except the sd ) and flashed the mod. So there was a bootloop.
I wanted to wipe everything to try something else. But I couldn't even get into the recovery. So I searched on xda for a solution...
But after looking up my version und relocking the phone I could not find a ruu for my hox. (ver.: 1.29.111.11)
Now the one X can't boot anything, has not enough accu, isn't able to start the clockwork-recovery and shut down.
I really don't know what to do next. Can anybody help me?

The same thing happened to me... Just flash the official RUU and see if it boots. If it does, just flash any ROM that you want.
As for the RUU, I flashed the global version.

Well how else are you going to flash it if not trough the recovery?
Just flash it as you would any other ROM. (Do a FULL wipe and install the .zip + kernel)

He also said it was through recovery, recovery doesn't have access to the boot partition, therefore flashing a kernel through recovery won't work.

[SPLASH] Boot Splash Creator Web App - Just Upload Image - Flashable Zip Output

Upload a picture, it will generate flashable zip to update your boot splash.
If your picture is not 1080x1920, it will get scaled to those dimentions without preserving proportions.
Use only on HTC One (HTC M7). Flashing on other devices may cause brickage.
