Hi folks, so yesterday I updated my GNex to 4.2 jelly bean, everything working very good except one small little problem ... So I left my GNex over night and woke up this morning finding out that my battery got drained quite a while ... Went to check what it is and BAM ... My screen waisted 39 % of the battery which is quite a feat, since it almost never drops under 50 % The second top drainer is Android system with 30 %, I mean wtf?? Does any1 else get so high values after updating to 4.2? Just to note I'm on a yakju Gnexus ...

there are many factor that can affect the life of your battery, one of it is the kernel ur using.
try different custom rom. try this from PARANOIDANDROID http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619582
So far it has been stock, but what's bugging me is the fact that Android system is using 30 % of the battery, the same system that was using 1 % of the battery back on 4.1.2 also stock ... I'm wondering what the hell happened with it -.-

I had the same issues. My problem was the exchange account. Had to do a hard reset after upgrading to 4.2. Issue was resolved after the hard reset and setuping up the exchange account without Push.
I am also on stock and the culprint of constant wakelocks is Google services.
If I turn location services off - I have usual batt. life as I had with 4.1.2 but as soon as I turn location on its getting into drain mode.
- same apps installed as on 4.1.2
- default stock kernel
- issues either on OTA version or odexed rom (via CWM)
- factory reset doesn't help
And I don't want to believe it's an error on my side, why should it be, it worked before with the same setup and same apps. Probably will go back to 4.1.2 as I don't want to wake up to a drained phone.
Now in order to get the same battery life as before I have to disable Google now/location access.
I have the exact same problems on the Nexus 7 just for the record.
Hi
I'm a regular flasher and am using Phoenix V12 as my daily rom because of its smoothness and battery life.
Now, Ive tried multiple 4.3 ROMS (DN3, Dr Ketans V1,V2,V3,Phoenix V14 & V15)
Whats consistent and worrying in all of them is that while they work mighty fine, my battery lifes taken a hit.
Its down to 3.5 hours screen on on all ROMS from 6.5 hrs screen on in 4.1.2.
Ive tried installing, reinstalling, wiping data, dalvik, battery calibration, full 3-4 charging cycles and all possible permutations and combinations of the same but to no avail.
I really want to migrate to 4.3 so how can I resolve my battery problem?
Thanks!
Turn off services/apps you dont need.
Perhaps you would take a look over,
Settings->wifi->advanced-> Scanning always available.
Untick this options. This would kills your battery quickly as many users faced it before.
Also can refer the method that provided by TheATHEiST, close some apps/service that you wont longer require on 4.3 anymore.
AutoStart Check i would recommend to you. Doing well for me.
:good:

I've installed Dr. Ketans V5 MK4 ROM and the battery is just as outstanding as it was on 4.1.2 Stock ROM.
The only thing I noticed is that WiFi is now draining battery a little faster than on the stock ROM. Might have something to do with the WiFi patch I've applied because on couple of custom ROM's I 've installed, the WiFi was not working right after flashing.
You also might try some battery saving apps. I am quite sattisfied with Juice Defender, but those apps are only doing their job while the device is in sleep mode by killing the wake locks. When you are using the phone, ther is no app in the world that will help you save the juice.
Battery Drain
I am using PA 3.99 on my Note 2. Previously when I was on stock, I used to get 2 days from a complete charge with standard usage of WiFi and Data. Now, I can barely get 1 day from a full charge.:crying:
There are no background apps running, "Scanning always Available" is off in WiFi settings. GPS off. Sync off. Location Services off.

Hi, have you considered the possibility that your battery has also aged? I assume that it is 1yr or so already so your previous time of 6.5 is no longer possible tho, 3.5 hrs screen on is low on my >1yr old battery, i use to have 4.5 hrs on DN3 V3. Hope i gave you another perspective.
Cheers
I have a SM-T800 on CM12.1 that averages a current drain of around 60 mA during deep sleep. I also have a OnePlus One that averages around 9 mA during deep sleep.
I'm using Battery Monitor Widget Pro with the "Android mA" setting to get my readings on the SM-T800.
Obviously, there's quite a difference there. The SM-T800 draws almost 7x as much current while it's doing nothing - no screen on time.
It makes me think that there must be something I can do to reduce the current drain, especially with a rooted device. But, I haven't been able to figure out what.
Has anyone been successful getting their battery drain lower? If "yes", what have you done?
Thanks,.

Did you forget the thread you made 2 weeks ago.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/help/sm-t800-barry-drain-t3157867
John.
Yeah, @Tinderbox (UK), but since the title was messed up I didn't think folks were looking/responding/searching to the older thread.
I think this is still something we can all benefit from, if someone has figured out a way to get our power consumption down. And if someone does respond back to this thread, other folks will be able to find it when they search now.
I use Euphoria OS and debloat it, that gives me a few weeks of standby if it's just sitting on a shelf. Ensure you delete Trebuchet (replace with Nova/Apex/etc) as it sucks a huge amount of CPU power when idle.
If you can run without GApps you'll maximize the savings.
As i said last time my T800 only used 1-2% in 16hours what ma does that work out too, the battery is 7900mah
7900mah/100 =79/16*2=9.8mah
Every time you install an app, it can make an huge difference, if it stops your tablet from sleeping.
You need to check your wakelocks to see which apps are keeping your tablet from going into deep sleep, auto check for emails, sync, alarms will cause your tablet to come out of deep sleep.
John
Thanks, @Tinderbox (UK).
As a test, I decided to wipe out my current installation, and just load the latest Nvertigo SM-T800 ROM and the very minimal nano Open GApps. I had to load a few minor things beyond that to get functional (KeePass Droid, Opera, MyBackup Pro, Wakelock Detector). I disabled all Google account sync items.
I disabled Trebuchet wake-ups, and set autostart off (Thanks, @fraser.dk)
I'm still seeing about 1% drop every 4-5 hours.
Nothing stood out from Wakelock detector. After 24 hours of the tablet sitting idle, the wakelocks were all less than 30 each.
Are you running a specific ROM or Kernel?
I am on the Stock UK v4.4.2 kitkat rom, I have never flashed though i am rooted.
If you are rooted, try the app in the link below, it link to XDA and you can download a version of cpu spy reloaded, it works great at spotting wakelocks it`s the only wakelock detector i use now.
I am running an Sony App that is supposed to stop all wakelocks, it`s in standby mode, you can whitelist apps if you like, I am not certain if it`s doing anything at the moment, you need root and exposed installed.
http://www.xda-developers.com/optimize-battery-life-with-this-useful-app/
A 1% drop over 5-6 hours is not bad.
John.
So i have an result on the Sony Battery App, I put my Tab S into sleep mode at approx 12:30AM it was at 69% , I woke it up at 6:50pm, it was still on 69% after 17hrs.
Click the link below, to see an screenshot of GSam Battery Monitor.

for me i have downgraded back to stock kitkat 4.4.2, debloated, rooted and xposed installed, and use powernap, i can use the tablet all day and still have between 45% - 60% battery left depends on if i am playing games or not... i have tried so many apps and custom roms in lolipop and none of them have good battery life....
PowerNap which is the Sony app i use, only reduce battery drain in sleep mode, by stopping all wakelocks, it does not reduce the power that games or other high drain app require, so how does you battery last longer, how much power were you loosing overnight when you tablet should have been sleeping it must have been immense.

on kitkat i had no major battery drain, i just like having powernap on my device... on LP like i say even just using the tab battery would drain like 1% every min... just doing typical web use... i have tried everything to get good battery life on LP but nothing works for me at least.. but with KK i have no issues...
A lot of people say they have had no problems with lollipop, but there is an significant number that have reported problems after upgrading, I decided to stick with kitkat and await android m.
1% a minute just browsing that`s bad.

I think I'll try going back to KitKat, and see how things go.
I have been frustrated on how fast the battery drains when doing minimal tasks, like reading an ebook (about 1% drain a minute).
Downloading KitKat from Sammobile now.

Bummer.
I installed the Canadian stock KK ROM (T800XXU1ANJ6_T800XAC1ANI1_HOME.tar.md5) onto my US SM-T800, and it's boot-looping.
I thought I should be able to load the Canadian version without any problem.
Is there a way to turn the tablet off when it is bootlooping? I don't want the battery to drain while I'm downloading another ROM.
Try this to stop boot loop.
Step 13 of post 3.

Thanks, @Tinderbox (UK)!
Out of the bootloop now, and setting up KK.
What do you do to prevent OTA updates? I have TWRP installed via the All-in-One Auto Root.
If you are rooted you will not get ota updates, if you are not freeze the updater an tab s owner did that with an app called "package disabler" it works without root but the free version keeps being removed from google play store, the full version is £2 (£1.50) just reduce.
John.
@Tinderbox (UK) WHAT KITKAT ROM YOU ARE USING ????
stock UK kitkat rom v4.4.2, Lollipop has been out for my T800 10.5" for an couple of months, but it is full of bugs, and quite a few people have went back to kitkat.
Kitkat has been solid for me, I ran it for 164 days continually, I never rebooted or shutdown in that whole time, no problem at all.

Hi i wanted to ask some things to guys who have already installed android M before updating mine. So i want to know is the camera fine on 6.0? it was messed up in lolipop so i didnt update, next how is battery backup on marshmallow? just like kitkat? better? And lastly can i update directly to 6.0 from 4.4? i sill have kitkat.
Battery backup is really very dull. My phone was 56% at night and it in the morning it was like 28%. Disappointed for the battery.
Camera is fine for me and the new UI features are great too.
Hope it helped.
Battery issue has ruined it. Hopefully Google provides fix for Battery issue.
My battery also loses 20~25 % battery over night, even though my Data/WiFi/Bluetooth/Location is off.
I really don't have any battery problem though I didn't notice it but marshmallow is just awesome UI and some good things added
Yes..You Can Directly Update From 4.4 To 6.0
Battery Backup Depends On Your Use
Reset Your Phone After The Update...

To update your phone to marshmallow is not bad. Its good to have new features . battery issues are their , i am getting 3:00-3:30 hours of on screen time on my canvas a1 which i think is pretty good because it is a 1700mah battery ...if you face some fc in settings or any other system application then please do a hard reset after marshmallow update
After miui 11.0.3.0 installed my note8 facing quick battery drain issue. Average screen on time is 6 to 7 hours. You guys also facing the issue? How to resolve it.
#Should i go back to miui10?
#will future updates solve the issue?
#should i reset my phone?

can u post battery usage stats here?
for me sot on miui 11 almost the same on miui 10
Screen uses more battery. Is that normal?
So you are getting a whole day with 7+ hrs SoT, and you think that's not enough?
No problem, it's always recommended to factory reset after any major update, as some data may conflict, bringing bugs.
It seems like you only need to uninstall system apps updates, then update them manually, if you want.
