DOUBT OF Huawei Ascend P6 - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

how it behaves with respect to the ram, the phone gets very hot? such is the camera? I come from a s3 and my experience was pesima regarding ram memory, gets very hot s3 lot and do not want to repeat the bad experience, really worth the investment???

It is very slim and build of metal. So it gets hot on heavy usage. But it is a normal behavior. Not too hot, just normal for this kind of devices.

I've been reading and they say it gets very hot at all, well your hardware is poorly optimized is that true?

If you have the moooney, buy p7.

Hi !
Because my wife had SIII, I can tell you that it does not compare these two devices, regarding as performance !
SIII gave me a very good impression, running flawless most of the games;
Here we have some issues regarding : device gets hot from time to time ( and varies from one device to another ), games and also browser !
But all these disadvantages must be understood, as is due mostly from his thin design, and also from his inefficient cpu based on lithography 40 nm.
Anyway the quality and design prevails, and will be long time one of the most attractive device to market .

You can play games, and heavy ones too, but keep in mind that this device is made for the fashion market not top gear.

Or you can get the P6S if you can find it.

It's the power of \m/
I have had many android smartphones and I've always preferred metal ones like the HTC Desire Z but they get pretty warm when you play games or watch videos by the way they are 3 times more strong than plastic or glass ones (Samsung & Iphone) :cyclops:

[Q] Why is the Defy considered a mid range device?

Is it because of the processor? If you overclock to 1ghz goes that make the phone a high end device?
Is it the fact that the phone doesn't come with a lot of memory?
How is the Vibrant, G2, MT4G better? I'm upgrading my phone and am trying to pick one.
Thanks for the help.
Gabe
The myTouch 4G, Vibrant and G2 are high-end because of the features.
The camera on the DEFY blows, it sucks so bad compared to the camera and it's interface on my Samsung Vibrant. The myTouch 4G/G2 aren't much better when it comes to the camera, though..
Regular LCD vs SLCD and SAMOLED displays.
Better graphics power.
Better multimedia on the Vibrant.
etc. there are multiple reasons why, most things are just a bit better on the "high-end" devices.
What he said - the camera is fairly useless. The screen is of normal type - not having experienced anything 'special' I think the screen is beautiful but I guess AMOLED would have me rethink that.
The build quality is not 'premium' - get an anodized aluminium HTC in one hand and this plastic phone in the other and you'll quickly decide which aesthetic and feel you prefer. On the other hand I find it much more attractive than, for instance, the Sony Ericsson piano gloss plastic phones.
Other than that, well, I guess it's been crippled like some ridiculous teenphone with useless BLUR, but I don't know - do the Droids have this as well?
To me it's more than good enough but this is my first Android device so what do I know?
One thing, it's IP67 rated - dustproof, water resistant, scratchproof Gorilla Glass.. No other smartphones have any IP or MIL rating at all let alone IP67.
Simple because whoever made thay statement/assessment in the first place had been smoking crack. With a little tweaking it is an an amazing device.

I just can confirm that
To the statement above, the device is plastic, but that's also the reason why its so light weighted my old hero was smaller but also heavier ... that s strange.. :-\
And for the camera. I just use my phone to take photos for three generation of mobile phones now... and really got Jo idea what you can't like with the camera. (there are few options, but the pictures are taken fast and Sharp, what more to expect ?)
Under the line, I'd say: It's a great device. And as mentioned many times before.. maybe just MOTOblur makes the whole device.. midRange .. :-\
One more thing, HTC devices maybe feel better (from the case or somehow, I know what u mean, but I really like how my defy feels, backside really feels good, front is just display )
But the thing: this device just looks male :-D
That's the reason why ive chosen it compared To the HTC desire and many other devices out there

I would like to see all those hi-end phones get dropped in water, and still work. Or get tossed around by a small child in a sandbox, and have no scratches on it. To me the Defy is very hi-end because of its everyday usefulness. No need to baby it.

doesn't hold a candle to my G2, but with root and recovery, milestone OC, and blur removed, its a nice device, if you owned a "high end" device you would see the difference, but all in all, thanks to DEV and Chef support this is a really good pone

Thinking of buying the M9

Hello,
I currently have an iPhone 6 and have my upgrade coming on Monday. I've been looking to move to android because of the iPhones bad battery life and lack of customisation.
I've looked at the HTC one M9 in shops and I really like the UI and the feel of the phone, however I am concerned about the "heating issue" and the "terrible battery life" I've read about in reviews.
I'd like to know a bit about your experiences with the M9 and what you're doing when it heats up and how hot it gets?
Thanks in advance!

The heating issue is real, not because the CPU gets really hot, I don't think it does, but because of the metal of the phone. If you're not gaming, you won't feel extreme heat. It will heat up a bit more than usual if you're using the camera for a while, not just for 5 quick pictures. If you're browsing for a while also. But it's not the same heat produced as while gaming, that's another level lol, very hot. My Galaxy S5 and other phones also get very hot while gaming. They feel less hot because they're not metal. If it heats up a lot, you either endure it, put a case on, or just turn off the screen for a few minutes until it cools down.
The battery life isn't bad actually! It's better than the LG G4 and almost as good as the Galaxy S5.

My advice would be to get Note 4. They are extremely underrated and you can get one for 350-400 eur brand new on a fle market. At least in my country. IMO much much better phone than M9 or any other SD 810 heat machine. Better pictures, better battery life, no heat under any condition, great display, s-pen and with latest update the only android that can measure with ios IMHO.

While the Note 4 is great, don't forget how laggy it can get. Not much controls over your camera's shots. You can take really good pics with the M9 if you know how to use manual mode or raw. Try ProShot, Snap Camera, and Camera FV-5, they can improve the quality of pictures without using manual mode.
Touchwiz software also can get annoying at times, and the phone is very big and tough to use with one hand. Samsung doesn't update much their phones after a certain time, which is disappointing. I've owned many of their phones.
You will get heat when gaming regardless of what phone you're using.
The M9 is smooth and Sense measures to iOS way more than Samsung's software (except in responsiveness of scrolling). The M9 doesn't have the best screen though.
One thing I am 110% sure of is that you will get much better pictures overall with Note 4. Unless you are an experienced photographer that knows what he is doing and you will take extra time for each of you picture you will need a good point and click camera and this is where M9 gets nowhere near Note 4. And you can flash all those different camera apps on Note 4 as well so ...
With the latest update and using nova launcher this phone is smooth as it gets and battery life is awsome.

Nexus 5x heat

Anyone who has already got the phone can give a user experience or test on the heating issue? It's s808 ultimately, although it should be better than s810.
The plastic back and front glass temperature before and after gaming would be best to tell the story.
Thanks in advance!
The only game I've played so far is sonic boom. On my S6 edge, that game was choppy and made the phone hot. On my 5X, the game was smooth as silk and no heating that I could feel.

Mine was on fire almost every day that I used it heavily. But I am comparing apples to oranges here, the S6 is all metal and glass vs. plastic.

I compressed about 5.5GB of data into a .zip file yesterday. For S&G I did the same operation on my hammerhead. The N5 was on fire and making funny smells. I had to keep waking up the 5X to make sure that it was still running because I never felt any heat from it. From my (limited) experience heat seems to be a non-issue.
This could be a good indication of what we can do when the source drops.

Heat

Some phones are great to take camping because if you play Asphalt 8 long enough, the back warms up to the ideal temperature that can bake bread. Rate this thread to express the extent to which the Samsung Galaxy S7 stays cool under extended heavy use. A higher rating indicates that even when playing strenuous games for long periods of time, the phone doesn't get uncomfortably warm.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
what i find is that my device (S7) stays very cool under conditions that my other device (m8) would overheat. now i dont play traditional games on my smartphone but i do run chess engines against each other on all 4 cores and typically after about 10 minutes i would have to stop because my m8 would reach over 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit). under more strenuous conditions the s7 only reached 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) after running for close to an hour. although the phone got physically hot which may be alarming, but i relied on an app to measure the internal temp. once i get a case for the s7 i probably wont even notice.
all in all, these results blew me away. i will try this again after i root the s7 and overclock it. but for now im very impressed.
The question here is does it throttle and how fast does it start throttling? A lot of people are complaining about the heat but really it should be hotter. The new heat pipe is supposed to disperse the heat to the frame away from the processor. Now if it is only hot where the processor is located like my s6 then that is a problem.

I've been pleasantly surprised with how cool the device stays as well. I keep it in an Incipio DualPro (although I find myself taking it out often either for Gear VR time, or just because the damn phone is nice to look at) and tend to go on usage binges frequently. Even throwing in a little gaming here and there (mostly Clash of Clans which used to warm up the S5 pretty easily.) So far, so cool. Even wireless charging (slow or fast) seems to run cooler.
If it's throttling to keep the temperature averages lower, then it hasn't been of detrimental effect to my own usage patterns so far.
I am actually hater of Android phones, but the features provided by Samsung Galaxy S7 and edge S7 are truly amazing. actully I personally saw after charging all Android devices they get heated. But I must say this S7 and S7 Edge are not from this family. Also there are some great features like water residence technique.... etc.
does it get hot when constantly using the facebook app(Like my S6 overheats sometime when using it often due to heavy usage)? i'm buying the S7 next week
After a few days of use I can say that it does not even get warm much less hot while doing anything I normally do, including gaming and I play a wide range of games on my phone including some pretty graphical ones. The only time it has felt warm at all was when I was first downloading and trying all of my VR games, not sure why though because I played a couple hours of VR last night and it did not heat up at all, maybe it was burning in?
Both my S7 and my wife's S7 get very warm. I immediately noticed it on the first boot for both devices when the Play Store was installing all of our apps. Installing about 50 apps took over a hour. I think both of our devices are defective as they are not consistently running smoothly as well the LTE speeds are 50% slower than our previous S6 and S6 Edge. So far a factory reset has not corrected the problem for either device. That said both S7's still score very high with Antutu 128000-129000. It's all very odd.

I switched from the M8 to the S7 and my M8 never got this hot. My S7 is always getting warm and the battery life sucks. I got it 3 days ago and have yet to play a game or watch media on it and it still heats up and the battery is down in the teen % by late afternoon.
Qualcomm SD820 sucks unfortunately. Gets hot, bad battery life, ****ty DAC.

I had the same model case for my S5 and loved it. It was bulky but was the kind of added protection I was looking for when i was out hiking or backpacking.
The version for the S7 (S7 Edge, specifically) feels more streamlined to me. Definiteky thinner materials, and because it has to keep the two long sides of the phone fairly clear due to the edge screen, it's a good bit more flexible (i can pop the phone in and out without having to first separate the two case layers.) I'd expect the non edge version for the s7 may be more in line with what I remember from my S5 days.
That said, the grip/texture is a nice balance between slick and grippy. It has a rubbery feel, but it doesn't snag on its way in and out of a pocket. Its just enough to know that it won't slip outta the hand.
Meanwhile, on the heat subject again, the s7e managed to reboot itself during a VR session and when it came back up, it seemed to have forgotten a lotta settings. Edge panels were no longer selected, double tap home yo launch camera went away, and probably 8 or so others that I noticed eventually. Easy enough to set them back, but thats the first time ive ever seen something like that on an android device. I can't say for certain that it was heat related, as it couldve rebooted due to any number of unfound software bugs, but it certainly had become fairly toasty during that session.

Definitely cooler than my s6 and to the person stating this phone gets hotter than his m8 did, you DEFINITELY must have a bad phone. The m8 and m9 always got very hot in my experience this phone is almost like ICE in comparison. My s6 even was cooler than either of those 2 and the s7 is even cooler than the s6. Battery life seems to be a little better than my s6 as well.
Pretty rough
I switched from my old S4 to the S7 on day one, and equipped it with all of the same accessories. I work in a kitchen, and it's often extremely hot on the line, but even in an Otter Defender my S4 would rock all day as a bluetooth music player connected to our soundbar. Ever since the switch I will get between 30-45 minutes only running DoubleTwist on BT before I get a hard reset from overheating. I've taken to leaving it in the pantry, but now I have to run off the line every time I want to change the song or the volume. As a desktop builder I understand the compromises between heat, performance, and cooling, but this seems a little sensitive.
I have g935f. Before that i had G920f and i have to say, best phone i ever had in my hands. No heating... Playing games for a few houers and no throtel no overheatin. Batthery is much bether than on S6, but i think that MM for S6 is more optimized for S6 then S7. Abouth heat, i think that the diference is in CPU. Exynus VS Snapdragon...

I need to compare mine to it as I came from a s5 which didn't really get hot. But because the s7 is new I'm also quite paranoid with the heat and need to see if I have a defected device or not. I don't have any temperature measuring programs on the phone, but it rarely even feels warm. It will show heat a little more than your s5 does because its glass and metal but the s7 runs cooler than my s6 and the s6 wasn't really a hot phone either IMO.

Is this worth buying?

Hey.
I'm a little late to the party but I have just seen this phone and it looks cool. I have a P9 Lite at the moment and I am not keen on EMUI. I love the look of the mint colour Robin. How is the screen on this thing as I hate washed out IPS screens.
Also important to me is how is development for this phone?
Thanks.

The screen is on par with most LCDs these days, good viewing angles and color saturation. Development is on the rise. At this moment there are a hand full of roms to flash. You should get this phone if you can, as it's still great in 2017.
I've just purchased one from Amazon can't not at £149 new for the spec better than some Umi rubbish in same price range
Looks like its got good rom/development support as well

Its a great phone, and definitley worth the money, but considering your current device it's not much of an upgrade.
Hey guys,
I'm considering the purchase of this cool-looking phone as well and I want to ask about the battery life - is it really that terrible that you have to charge your phone more than once a day (as written in some reviews)? And what about the camera - is it really that bad or it's just a normal mobile average?
I am using nexus4 right now and Robin probably won't be my daily driver, I just want it because of the look but obviously I don't want to waste my money on some ****ty device.
Thanks

I can get through a day without charging with ease. That said. I've never been on stock, I personally didn't like it. Many users complained about performance and battery life on the Stock OS. The camera is pretty 'meh'. Taking pictures can be VERY slow (Use Google Camera or something, Open Camera and the stock camera is supposedly slow) and low light performance is pretty bad. During the day though I can get pretty nice shots, nothing to complain about, it's good just not 'great'.
All this said though, I've mostly been on OmniROM and LOS/LOS based roms as they seem pretty on par in both areas (LOS and LOS based roms have a few kinks to sort out at the moment though). If you're planning on sticking with the Stock ROM and have issues, I 100% recommend OmniROM, it's had a long while to get rid of all the bugs and it's got killer performance and with moderate usage (Including some light gaming) I get around 4.5 hours SOT on a single charge on Omni.
I hope this helps
If I leave the house with a 100% charge. I can get through the entire day...but when I'm out...I'm not constantly on my phone. I'm a pretty casual user and I've been pretty happy with the device in the 7 months I've been using the phone. The durability of the phone is the only real questionable thing. The plastic feels pretty thin and the edges are pointy. I can't imagine dropping the phone on its edge onto concrete. I've seen lots of people complain of the phone getting bent from being in your pocket. If you're the type of person that is rough with your stuff...it may not be the best choice....or use a heavy duty case like the Tudia.
Nextbit will also be stopping any kind of warranty in July of 2017. So if you buy your phone now...and something goes wrong...you don't have a warranty after July.
I think at its current price level this phone makes a great backup phone, or if you want to have something for a few months and move on to something better.
The good: it has a rather up to date OS, you get a good processor (808) for around $120, it's light weight and sleek, easy to root and develop on, sleek look, smooth performance with virtually no bloat, supports band 12 (important for t mobile).
The bad: no warranty after July 2017, the online storage space may disappear in 2018 (which was their whole selling point for the phone on the beginning), mediocre camera, very fragile design ( the phone is made entirely of plastic and there is no metal frame inside so forget about putting it in your pocket), no charger in the box, can feel warm at times if you are not careful about background processes and using an ad blocker, mediocre battery life (5 hours on screen surfing).
Great phone. The online storage was dumb and you wont miss it. If you really needed more then 32 gigs would you be looking at this phone at all?
The camera is just ok. Its better then the last phone I had which was a nexus 5.
The phone is good quality. The plastic takes a beating. I put it in my pocket, and run it case free and have for months. Barley a knick on it. Been dropped from waist high on wood floors and tile.
Battery - I stream google music all day at work . If I don't charge I can go about 8 hours with Bluetooth headphones connected. If I use it as a phone for googling here and there I get like a day+ on it. Reading books and wut not, 12 hours.
I run stock, with a personalized launcher, rooted, running substratum for blacking out all the menus and Nougat quick settings to use immersive mode. Runs like a champ, super fast. The warranty thingie sucks, but;at 117 bux, this phone is a steal.
I dare anyone to find a brand new phone with at least an 808 and 32 gigs of storage, with 3g memory for cheaper and better support.
I'll wait right here. :silly:
Hello Community!
I consider buying the Nextbit Robin for my 13yo son, who killed his S5 Neo (broken Display). I´m afraid he would be forced to stick with stock and no root because of....well.....pokemon go.... so I hope battery life is not THAT bad as complained in some threads.
BUT: The fact that he killed his last phone because he dropped it and the "bending issue" I read in this thread I am pretty unsure about it. My son puts his mobile into his pocket.

Pokemon GO works fine with custom ROMs and root as long as you use magisk
I got one and I love it , it has an amazing camera, great battery life (at least on Resurrection Remix), and is nice because the bootloader is easily unlockable. The only issue I have experienced is the speakers can be a bit distorted at max volume.
