Question concerning an exchange - T-Mobile HTC One (M8)

Hi everybody! I'm about to make an exchange between my S5 and a Htc One M8 with someone online. I buy my S5 with a carrier so the phone is register on my name. The guy want me to send my imei to check if the phone is not blacklisted. It is okay to give him or its dangerous?
Thank you

I wouldnt trust anyone online sending the imei. If he wants to find out then you guys should meet up at the carrier store then ask to run the imei status with the associate. Should be vice versa about the M8.

I lost my HOX,

whom should I call to blacklist it? HTC? or they wouldn't since the phone is international?
Call your carrier.. Give them the details they ask.
If you have insurance call the insurance company, and also your carrier as the person above me mentioned

Get to a pc, log into your google account on the android marketplace, and install Plan B by lookout mobile security. If your google account is still active on your lost phone it'll install and email you the location of the phone.

Yes. I tried it once. Works very well. Just got to hope the phone hasn't been wiped since you lost it, and that you left 3g turned on!

I cannot call my carrier because the phone was purchased on ebay and was unbranded made in Taiwan. also the trick that can locate the phone did not work. so my best choise is to blacklist it but idk whether htc would blacklist it or not since it has no carrier

Well so your only hope is htc. Try and reach out to them. They could somehow track that with imei number...
Good luck.

you can still call the carrier to get the sim card blocked and stop any wanted charges being billed to you
and i doubt HTC would do anything... why would they care/bother?

Unlocked s3 and wanting to switch to prepaid

hey everyone i'm new to this so please bare with me..I have a T-Mobile Samsung galaxy s3 and I got the unlock code off eBay for a pretty cheap price, so far it looks liked it accepted it . I wanted to switch over to net10 or simple mobile. I heard about if not paying my T-Mobile bill they will block the imei number. If so will I be able to use it at all on those carriers I stated, or will I just have to use it on H2o or Att.
Also as far as the apn settings is there an application that will help? Thanks in advance

Just means u cant use the phone back on t-mobile other company's dont care if the phone has bad record I had and s3 before I got the one I have now it could not work with tmobile because the person that sold it to me did not pay bill but u can use it on att simple mobile net 10 any (gsm) cell phone carriers

OK thanks a lot. Also I did hear that simple mobile is run by T-Mobile so will it work on simple mobile if Imei is blocked?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-t999 using xda app-developers app
Yeah it will work. Simple mobile doesn't even ask for imei. Only if you want to put it there is the option but its not required

Ok thanks alot for the info

To be fair, they're going to know your IMEI even if you don't disclose it to them during the sign-up process. Just by using the phone it will send that information out when you communicate with their cell towers - so I'd imagine if T-Mobile shares its block list with Simple Mobile, it won't matter if you disclosed the IMEI at signup - they're going to know it anyway.
That, and the Big Four is actively working with the FCC on a cross-carrier database - so unless that falls through at the 11th hour, that's on the horizon in the next year or so.
Just sayin'.
What do you mean by the big four carriers is working with the fcc in the next year? Please explain, thanks

I've used phones blacklisted by T-Mobile on Simple

I wonder if it would work with Wal-Marts mobile service since it is just rebranded T-mobile...hmm

Yeah your right. I just called simple mobile and they said even if it is blacklisted for not paying my bill, it will still work because its an unlocked gsm phone so it wouldnt matter, just pop in my sim card and I would just honestly get edge network which is slower than 3g speed.

It will work if they don't use T-Mobile IMEI blacklist and continue not to do so.
It seems like that's the case, at least for now.
Just saying, it doesn't have anything to do with if the phone being carrier unlocked or not - IMEI is tied to the phone's hardware, not the SIM card.
I went through something similar with T-Mobile, and most of the reps don't know what the block list is let alone how it works.

Ask them to unblock the IMEI. I am the same situation except my phone is a warranty replacement from T-Mobile.
This Phone doesn't have warranty

Im gonna ask to unblock the imei, thanks for your advice

They most likely will not un-blacklist an IMEI for this reason, but sure, why not try.
If you're not super lucky you'd best just sell it for parts and be more careful next time.

[Q] help with galaxy s4 not registered to network

gf reported her phone lost because it was cracked, samsung sent her a new one so now i want her old one. I put in my sim card but it says "Not register to network" im thinking maybe t-mobile blocked the phone somehow since it was reported lost but I figured there was a work around. Friend told me unlocking the phone and setting it to international radios may help but i have no idea how to do this since im new to the android community. Switching from iphone to android! So yeah, please help!
White T-mobile Galaxy S4 on jellybean, updating it to kitkat though.
Yup, T-Mobile blocked it.. There's no legal way around it, maybe your gf calling T-Mobile to unblock it, but they'll probably charge her full price for the one they sent her.. You could try using a different carrier, but it could end up being blocked again.. You could also sell it to someone in another country, blacklist won't go past the US

To international what? But either way no.. Your service is denied everytime the phone tries to register to T-Mobile because the imei is what's being blocked

international radios, gonna unlock the sim. My gfs mom is probably going out of the country so if i unlocked it, she could use it outside the US right?and if she can i take it as she'd have to use a carrier other than t-mobile to do this though?
You can't use international radios.. And I don't know, but I would think so, using a local carrier should be fine

There are services that will fix this for you. I payed 35$ for my blocked tmobile s4 to be repaired.
I did this with an HTC EVO 3D. It was locked for 2 years so I flashed the phone to a different carrier and it worked. You might have problems with different features but it is posibble to still use the phone. Find a cellular store that will flash it. They normally charge around 50 dollars, give or take.

This is not a CDMA phone, you can't flash it like that.. And like I said, you can unlock it and it may work with another carrier but it can end up being blocked again, I've seen it happen

This happens to me sometimes and what I do is go under mobile networks and
Go to network operators and I let it load and then it registers on the correct network.

You may want to check if your employer is going to require a BYOD mgmt app like airwatch. You may want to keep your phone and let your employer purchase a new Verizon phone for you. That's one of the reasons Verizon and AT&T are approved. They have locked bootloaders. Your security people read XDA too ... //cheers
