So my phone rebooted today and when it did boot up all my Google apps were gone. Data and cell service still worked IMEI is intact. It cleared my internal sd though where I had some roms and nandroids. I tried to restore a nandroid from my external sd and it failed at the data stage. This is the 2nd time this has happened. I have odined back to stock and everything is fine. I did root again but kept stock recovery just in case it happens again. Anyone heard of this? Am I missing any steps?
When I odin to stock I factory reset in stock recovery 3 times and also twice in the settings on the actual phone. I then root it using CF auto root and install TWRP recovery. It was running fine for a few weeks and I flashed 4 or 5 roms in that time.

Not had this happen to me ever on any t mobile rom, I know the international roms can wipe your internal when flashing them but I dunno why any rom would wipe your internal sdcard on a reboot. I keep all my roms, kernels, themes, etc on external sdcard tho just because I have more room there and just use internal for apps.
Which rom/kernel were you on when this happened?

Wicked, but I am currently running Infamous 3.5 with philz recovery. Day 2 so far so good. Weirdest thing I've experienced so far, I've odined to stock, wiped multiple times before rooting and installing Infamous.

I have used MIUI since June with no problems at all, I then tried to install the 9.30 update. It didn't install right even though MD5 matched (stuck on the white HTC Incredible screen). I tried restoring to my backup and after rebooting nothing happened. It tries going to the boot animation but doesn't, just goes to a black screen. I've let it sit for an hour there and nothing happens. I tried resolving this on the MIUI.us forums, but no responses so far.
At that point I tried cm7, it worked but was really glitchy and bootlooping. cm6 was next, and it was working mostly but didn't seem stable to run. I then tried going back to MIUI all of them, 8.19, 9.2, and 9.9 as well as the 9.30, did not install.
I am now running the rooted stock rom and it seems to be running fine these past two weeks (aside from the fact it's sense). Over the weekend I tried, again, to install MIUI and restore a backup but it's still not working. And to make matters worse cm6 and 7 are no longer running.
I have also tried all of the above with CWM 3.0.0.8, CWM 5.0.0.2, and Amon_RA 3.02 (no restore to test) and have had the same issues across all recoveries.
It really seems like my phone has become allergic to any AOSP rom, I haven't tried other sense roms but I'm expecting them to work since the rooted stock rom has both installed and restored with no issues.
I have not tried going back to bone-stock and then re-rooting as that would be a pain. But if it is my only option to get back to MIUI then I will give it a shot.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Before you flash a ROM do you:
Clear data: Wipe user data/factory reset
Mounts and Storage - format /system, format /boot, format /data, format /cache
Advanced - Wipe Dalvik
Then flash the ROM?
Before a new rom (not btwn miui updates) I normally wipe data/factory reset and wipe dalvik. But I don't do anything in mounts and storage unless I need to mount usb storage.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I would back up your current working ROM, try what I mentioned above, and then try flashing MIUI again.
In Mounts and Storage, you'll have the option to format emmc, and sd card too. Just make sure you ARE NOT selecting those items, as obviously you want those intact. If you follow the instruction above, you should be fine.
Got proper HBOOT version?

When I get home I will try doing everything suggested.
My hboot is 92 I believe.

Ok, I did all of the above and still have no luck in installing MIUI or restoring a backup.
Also, I didn't mention this in the first post. When I try and boot from a restored MIUI and it tries to load the boot animation I can still reset the phone with the 3-finger salute, so the phone is still doing something just not what it's supposed to. I did try flashing another boot screen incase there was something wrong with the backup, but that didn't work.
Any other ideas out there?
Tried a different sd? Copy and paste the contents of sd to pc, reformat sd fat32, copy contents back to sd, see if issue persists.
If reformatted native sd doesn't help, perhaps try another.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
I just tried both a different sd card as well as reformatting my current one, in both cases I can't install MIUI nor CM6.
Stumped here... Only other thing I can think to try is a Sense ROM on either/both sd's to see what boots and runs without issue.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
As I mentioned already I'm currently running the rooted stock gb rom, which is sense. I can try another sense rom just for fun.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yep, apologies. Speculation on my part:
Bad sd. AOSP interacts with sd on boot and during normal use, device acts up only with AOSP, hence bad sd.
Also, when flashing the AOSP ROM on newly formatted sd, wipe of mounts (data, cache, boot, and system) as well as factory reset, cache partition, and dalvik, all from recovery were successful?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
So sense does not interact with sd the same way as aosp? What could be the problem with the sd card that allows it to do everything but allow it to boot aosp roms (especially since I have tried 2 different ones) ?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
AOSP calls on and even interacts the sd during boot, as well as during normal use. If your device is only wonky running AOSP, I'd suspect the sd, provided a complete wipe is done and the cwm, radio, and HBOOT are what's called for by the AOSP ROM.
Assume nothing restored to fresh aosp install, correct?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
Yeah, a restore or a fresh install has problems. If I install and then remove the sd card would it possibly boot then?
I'm still confused as to how the sd card can do everything else that it's supposed to but not talk to an aosp rom.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
AOSP uses the sd to operate, Sense does not.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
What I still don't understand then, if it is the SD card, why do I still have the problem with a different sd card?
Is it possible that it is hardware related, or something else, with the phone? I am able to read and write to the SD card when operating the phone, but the issue only appears to happen at boot.
This weekend I may try and unroot and then reroot, just incase some important files got corrupted. as the unroot would replace nearly everything it should fix the problem if it isn't hardware... I'm hoping.
Stumped... Hard to say.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
Well, I got tired of sense so I flashed the RUU, reloaded CWM 5.0.0.2 and restored my old rom... it worked. So now I'm fixed, yay.
Thanks for helping me troubleshoot it.
Ok so I actually have some really serious problems that I need some help with fast.
My details so you can help me with the following
*Running DN3 3.2 ROM rooted
*MJ5 new bootloader
*TWRP(at the moment)
*AGNi kernel
Soooo, here are the problems I encounter
I cant find a proper way to swap internal with external sd card. Now hear this super strange problem. Both with the script on this forum and the setting on AGNi control app DO INDEED swap the int with the ext sd card but theres a catch. Neither of them can swap the sdcard0/Android/obb(which is the folder I wanna swap -.-')but they swap the rest of the mount point! Soooo strange. As a result theres no space recover by applying this method and the obb folder still stays at int storage.
I really hate MTP on 4.3 Is there any way to enable the freaking USB Mass Storage?
Whenever I move an app to the sd card(settings/manage applications)and I reboot, after the reboot the app is lost and it says "App not installed" whenever I click its icon. This is the situation even after rebooting, I cannot move the app back to internal storage and as a result I have to uninstall and reinstall the app which leads to loss of data.(Note that I'm using a 32GB class 10 sd card)
I cannot make a proper backup and/or make a proper restore. I have tried both latest Philz and latest TWRP, the backup takes around an hour to do(REAALLLYYY long...)and then if I try to restore it says "Restore failed" on both recoveries.(On Philz it said md5 mismatch or something similar and on TWRP it said just restore failed)My only theory is that because I was trying to install a 4.4.2 ROM after making a backup and the recoveries were simply incompatible with KitKat, but other than that I don't understand why this happens.
Sorry for so long post but I really need help here. Thanks in advance!
Don't use the latest version of philz, it takes very long to boot the Rom for the first time which makes one get scared. Use version 5 Philz. After you wipe dalwik cache , go to mounts and format sd card and external card(take backup) then flash the Rom and reboot.
I flashed dn3 v 3.2 with cwm which ended up stucking at boot screen. Then I was told to use philz 5,now it works the works like charm. If I was you now I would flash the stock rom (unroot ) then root and flash dn3. Keep the stock kernel which comes with the rom. I didn't flashed mj5 boot loader instead I flashed Dr ketan's Wi-Fi patch. I had problem switching on Wi-Fi. Hope you get your problem resolved this is an amazing rom!

Thanks for your reply, but you didn't help me with any of my problems...
Hi NickVXD, I faced the same and was very disturbed, but finally it worked, the obb is swaped. I'm also using Agni latest.
What I did
1st I disabled the option from agni control app
Then rebooted
Then went to CWM
Flash the latest script of mattiadj, this one
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ivl678c67r7z57g/extsd2internalsd_fat32_gs3_8.zip
..and the obb folder is swaped.
Regarding Proper Backup & Restore
During a restore, from CWM misc nandroid settings, uncheck md5 checksum
Then restore.
It'll restore.
Hope it helps.
Regards.

@nitol Thanks a lot for the obb solution, will check it later and report back. The problem with CWM isn't getting rid of the md5sum but to find a way to make the backup not corrupted. I had made a backup and then when I restored it said md5mismatch. So I removed md5sum check from settings and when the restore was done, I rebooted and phone stuck at note 2 screen. So the problem is the corrupted backup and not the md5. Also backup took 50-55 minutes to finish. Is that normal?? Thanks again.

No, it's abnormal, backup should take maxinum 25 mnts.
..and after flashing the ext2int sd script, your extsd is this
/storage/sdcard0
From there you should able to install apks.
Regards.

Soo.. @nitol Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Also when you used touchwiz what recovery and what recovery version did you use? Maybe installing the same recovery as you will solve my issue. I'm using DN3 4.3 TW ROM btw. Thanks.

OK so recently I formatted my data on internal memory and when I went to reboot my phone it wouldn't go past the galaxy s4 screen! So I reboot into recovery and tried wiping cache and dalvick but nothing worked to get me past the s4 screen so I rebooted back into recovery and did a clean flash of the I'm using and everything seemed ok got my phone all setup again but when I try to just do a simple reboot it still won't go past the s4 screen?!? The only thing that fixes it is clean flashing my ROM again I'm not sure what is going on but I would just like to be able to reboot my phone! Any help would be great!!
You mean you formatted your internal SD?

If this is the case, using Odin to restore to complete stock should fix it as it will include teh pit file that restores the partitions.

Yea its weird the only way I'm able to Reboot my phone is I have to boot into recovery then wipe cache and it'll reboot fine but at the moment i don't have a computer to fix it so I just gotta deal with it and also the only way to flash a new ROM is by formatting internal SD again and clean flashing to get it to flash right
Hey everyone. I was wondering if the latest Likewise S5 2.5 beta version will work for my Galaxy S3 T999. Im running 4.3 with the build NC2 running stock rom and kernel. How would i install that rom? Because on the page it doesnt show any way of installing it. I have CWM recovery. If anyone has this rom could they please tell me how much ram this rom uses. I really like this rom. Whats the difference between the LT version and the 2.5 Beta? Whats the prefixer (+1 fix) on the latest update for?
Thanks i would really appreciate if someone could answer my questions thanks

Any ROM in the development section will work, and installing it is the same as any other ROM.. That's about all I can answer as I don't use that ROM
Thanks for the help. And one more question. Do i have to have an external sd card to install a rom. Ive searched this all over the internet and i couldnt get an exact answer
Sent from my SGH-T999 using XDA Free mobile app
No you can flash it from internal SD, but when you wipe make sure you don't wipe data or internal SD. Just factory reset, wipe system, and cache and dalvik cache all from recovery
Thanks how do i make sure i dont wipe the whole thing and only the wipe system/factory reset?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using XDA Free mobile app
On the wipe options don't select media or internal SD, that's about it
In twrp, by default, factory resetting will preserve your internal sdcard. It will wipe everything else you need to reset.
Many still disagree with me on this next point, but do not wipe /system. Any rom you might flash will do that for you. But if you do wipe system, and something doesn't work as expected and aborts the rom flash, you will now have a device with no o/s. Ive seen it happen many times and is always a headache easily avoided.
Like I said, some disagree with me on this, but none have been able to convince me that there's ever a time that wiping /system has any benefit.

I am having some serious issues with my phone and mysterious miscellaneous files that are taking up almost 7gb and yet can't seem to find them. So I want to completely wipe everything and start from a rooted factory rom.
I am open to either 4.3 or 4.4. I have already tried this using Oden and then the auto root file and yet I still am having the same issue of the miscellaneous files.
Can someone advise me as to what I would need to do to completely wipe this spring sprit note 2 and get a fresh factory rom and root so I can wifi tether it.
Thanks,
