Hey guys. Running tasks aokp 4.4 currently but yesterday tried several other roms (both aosp and touch wiz) and this problem manifested itself on every rom i have tried (clean full wipe installs).
When on data, regardless of where I am and what I'm doing my connection will continually switch from 4g to h+ to 3g to edge. Does this totally randomly with no pattern. Then the signal will totally drop and I will be unable to do anything (make a call even) . Usually if I wait 15 seconds the the signal will come back, but only for a few minutes.
I have called att and they have done a "hard reset" of my data on their end but it didn't fix anything. Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe I should try flashing a different modem (never done this before).
This problem started around ten days ago. Nothing started it (phone wasn't dropped or anything) and I double checked to make sure the Sim card is properly seated... Which it is.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So I got my galaxy s3 yesterday and decided that I might as well root and flash immediately and not waste the time setting up just to do it again. I flashed cwm and then tried a couple different runs that wouldn't boot. I went back to my backup and then installed some cwm 10 variant Rom differently but then my 3g was acting up.
I changed the setting under mobile networks to SIM from NV to see if it would make a difference but it didn't so I went back to my stock Rom and unrooted to start over but I never changed the SIM setting back and started getting no SIM errors.
I then went through a couple more unsuccessful flashes before finally having luck with paranoid android and thought that changing back to NV from sim would solve my issues, but it hasn't.
Now my 3g signal Is very bad even when I had the stock Rom and often holds tool 1x even though I have an air rave. What can I do at this point? I don't think trying to hop back to stock sprint Rom will fix the issue since I already tried that once.
I wiped appropriate caches and data every time and even factory reset to before and later find out my initial issues were probably due to hash sum mismatches.

Try to update profile and prl. then restart. make sure your in a good area with strong 3g. best is WiFi especially if you know the speed your paying for. its possible the slow speed is on the sprint side due to lte up dates or bad coverage.
Starting in the last couple of days, my Note 2 lost network connection/cell signal from time to time (no voice no data).
I had to reboot it several time for it to come back (and sometimes I had to remove and reinstall
the sim card) and then it may work a few hours and the connection
was lost again (showing a circle with a cross bar). This is in the same location that has been working
fine for the last couple of months, but it happened everywhere.
It's rooted, running stock JB 4.1.2.
Is there anything else I can do?
thank you.

Did you drop the phone recently? If a connection for the antenna is loose you could have problems like that.
You might try getting into recovery and wiping cache and dalvik (I know you can wipe cache in stock recovery, can't remember about dalvik). This is not a factory reset. Once those are wiped, boot the phone and let it sit untouched for 10 min. Then reboot and go about your business.
That can help any number of issues. Don't know for certain if it will help yours. You might call tmobile and ask them (after you try the other stuff). You may just have to warranty it out. Dunno.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
Thanks. No, nothing changed in the last few days. No new apps, no drop.
It was fine since last night until this morning. If it happens again
I will get a new microsim card and have T-Mobile transfer my current sim
to it to see if it's a simcard problem.
Hey everbody. this is my first post on here. and I have a really annoying issue.
OK, i bought an unbranded Galaxy Note II N7100 4.1.2 jelly bean couple of months ago and that issue seemed to be there since the beginning.
It's that when I'm connected to internet through mobile data on WCDMA, all of a sudden the "received" signal (orange arrow) won't flash any more while green arrow flashes every two seconds and i have no internet access no matter what i do, the only thing that can temporarily fix this is that i restart my phone and then the internet is perfect again for a not certain interval of time and then the issue happens again, it won't come back until i restart the phone again.
Sometimes it could stay for 12 hours before it happens and sometimes i could keep restarting my phone every five minutes, it's really annoying.
I've tried all the known tricks like hard reset, deleting all apps, i disabled so many services or apps that may cause this problem, I disabled all syncing apps, i deleted, re installed APNs, i changed my SIM card and finally i subscribed for another network provider and it still happens
I'm really at a loss, I don't know what causes this problem.
Is it a hardware issue? but if it was a hardware issue, it wouldn't work at all even after restart, right? is it some bug in the built-in 4.1.2 jellybean?
And i also may say that i receive calls normally, the WIFI works perfectly and the GSM mobile data works all the time no problems, it only happens on the WCDMA ONLY or the AUTOMODE.
The H , H+ or 3G sign is up there but the orange arrow all of a sudden won't flash and no internet access at all untill i restart the phone.and this issue may start to happen even if the mobile data is off all day and when i turn it on BOOM the issue seems to be there even before turning it on.
I hope you guys can help me with this...thanks

Flashing a custom ROM is really easy, and there is no way u can brick your phone if you do the steps correctly.

Hello all!
I am having constant data issues all day where I go to use an app that needs it, it says that no data connection can be found or something. I turn the radio off, turn it back on and then it works. It's a good work-around but it does get very annoying. I've tried multiple 4.4.2 roms but no avail. I tried a different kernel but I couldn't even use the phone. Any ideas?
Same for me; I'm rooted now but it happened before root and after the JB ota updates. Annoying but otherwise I love this phone
I think this has been a known issue since ICS (I could be wrong though).
If anyone knows a fix that would be cool (I have GSM google play gnex)
My issues started late last night, lost data connection and it didn't come back. On my way home, it connected then lost again at home. Went to Verizon today and they couldn't figure it out, said possibly the radio is taking a crap.
On my way to work, it connects then gone. I tried flashing the radio, pulled battery, booted without sim, formatted cache and delvic. I have tried everything and think it's the end of the line for it
I've been rooted since the day I got it and had the issue once a while back but it straightened out and has been great since.
Certain CyanogenMod ROMs have trouble with the Network Modes sticking. Which carrier are you using? For my carrier, I had to have the correct APNs set to get 4G and MMS working. It might be that this is the problem in most cases, especially when the phone switches between 4G and 3G in spotty areas.
Hopefully I word this right so i can clearly describe my issue. About a week ago I had a glitch with a custom ROM (I am rooted and S-OFF). Before the glitch I had zero issues, data worked created, WIFI worked great, handoff between the two seemed flawless. This is where i am at now.
After taking an absurdly long time to actually be able to wipe and reload a ROM, the issue started. Run just WIFI, no problem, run just Mobile Data no problem, but once I connect to a WIFI ( have tried several WIFI connections and hotspots) this occurs. Approximately everry 5-10 minutes you can see the data connection momentarily drop then reconnect, giving me 3 notification sounds. Annoying to say the least. Doesn't affect the performance of the device but you can see how annoying that would be. I'm gone through all of the settings I can think of in Dev and in settings and can't figure out why it keeps doing this. I was originally told to try a radio but data is perfect if no WIFI present on the device so I would rather not flash and wipe if I can help it.. I know the simple fix would be to disable mobile data at home but that doesn't cut it I would like it to be on as it normally would be. AS a note I have tried full wipes and several ROMS they all present the same issue.
If anyone understands and can help, and you need a logcat I will gladly provide one.
Celtyc
