Hey all. I am having issues with connecting my tablet to my wi-fi tether on my phone since I updated the 4.4.2. I keep getting the message "network disabled because internet connection is slow" when I try to connect. I was able to connect without issues before I updated to 4.4.2, have not made any changes to tethering settings on my phone and no power saving options are enabled on my tablet. I have also tried forgetting and reconnecting to my hotspot and this has not resolved my issue. My phone is a Sony Xperia Z and tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014.
Has anyone else had issues with connecting via wi-fi tether with 4.4.2 and if so are there any workarounds or fixes? I have searched the web and forums and have not found anything on this issue except for the Galaxy Note 3. Those issues have been resolved by changing some advanced options in wi-fi settings which have to do with wi-fi and cellular switching. My tablet is wi-fi only so I do not have those options.

I have been using Note 2 N7100 running 4.1.1 for a week now but only a couple of days ago started experiencing WiFi connectivity issue at home. The problem I have is it would lose Internet connection and then disconnects from my wifi router. When I opened the wifi menu it says my router is not in range. Turned off wifi and then on again and it connected just fine. However, after a while I lose Internet connection again and then router connection as well. In addition, my PC and other mobile devices started having connection issues. So, I restart my router and everything seems to work normal again until I turn on wifi on my Note 2. The problem reoccured again until I decided to turn off wifi on my Note 2 and so far my wifi connection is stable. I did try to use static IP and for a moment it seemed to work fine yesterday but today it messed up again right after I got home and turned on wifi on my Note 2. I also reset my router to factory setting yesterday and I don't want to reset every day.
I remembered that I did a software update at work on my Note 2 two days ago but it's an update from Samsung. I forgot what the update was for. Is there any chance to undo this update just in case it caused the wifi problem but without having to root the phone?
try to add the ip and mac address of your note 2 into the router.
I've been using ParanoidAndroid on my Note II and recently I realized that wifi tethering does not work. The service indicates it is active but it does not transmit a wireless network name, so no device can connect to it by wifi. Bluetooth tethering works. I have tried 3rd party rooted apps and they indicate that the cannot run because ad-hoc mode cannot be entered. Is there anything I can do like change the kernel or some other mod or app that is able to run tethering? Or do I need to just wait for the developer to provide an updated rom that fixes this?
wifi tethering doesn't work
that's exactly what i'm getting too, error starting ad-hoc mode... hope this gets fixed :crying:
Hello all,
As with some other users on this forum, I'm having trouble connecting my N7105 running N7105XXDMC3 (rooted) to some Wifi hotspots (other devices, such as my laptop and tablet connect OK to these networks). I've had a look at some of the proposed solutions on this forum (such as disabling Keep Wifi on during sleep or disabling Check for Internet Service), but they don't seem to work. I've also seen some suggestions that this is a 4.1.2 specific thing, and that reverting back to the 4.1.1 wifi files solves the problem. I've tried that as well by downloading the relevant wifi files from a couple of places (xda, another website), copying them to /etc/wifi and also /etc/dhcpd (changing folder permissions to rwxr-xr-x), rebooting the phone and trying again, but to no avail.
I even tried using Connectify on my laptop to create a wifi hotspot to act as a bridge between the problematic wifi hotspot (hotel) and my Note 2 - although other devices are able to connect to my Connectify hotspot (laptop, tablet), my Note 2 still fails to connect, giving the same error message.
Any thoughts?
I am on B119 and have not been able toget tethering working. I have tried both wifi and bluetooth. Also downloaded numerous tethering apps from the Playstore none of which work. I have tried tethering to a nexus 10, samsung galaxy and an Asus laptop.
All can see the P6 tether but cannot allocate an IP address to the attached device.
Anyone else having a tether problem on this or another rom version. Have tried a factory reset with the same result.
So I just tried a bunch of kitkat Roms and found Gummy to be the best for me right now. The only problem I'm having is when wifi tethering is on, the connected devices are in a "limited" mode and get no internet.
Anyone have a solution to this problem? I've flashed the latest 3 versions of Gummy and they all have the same problem.
