Is it possible to reassign the google now menu that appears when you hold to virtual home button on the M8 to perform another function, such as locking the screen? I'm looking for an easier way to do this rather than clicking the power button on top.

You could look into the sweep 2 sleep mod in general m8 forums. With it you swipe across the navigation bar right to left to lock the screen.

I currently own a HTC Desire and was thinking about buying a new phone and I can't decide between Galaxy S3 and HTC One X yet.
When I watched this comparison here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtXAkNd9k68 I saw the HTC One X has Back, Home and Task Manager Buttons.
From my HTC Desire I know you can bring up Task Manager by long pressing Home Button, so I wonder why there is a Task Manager button (maybe for not so smart users?). And if there is a menu it takes away from screen real estate to display a menu button bar or for HTCs own apps, it displays a menu button on top right corner.
I like the black & white borderless theme of Sense better than the blue/gray border theme of Galaxy phones (for menu, popups, selectboxes, widgets, etc).
Would it be possible, to change the task manager button into a menu button?
Apparently HTC are going to do this in a future OTA update - or at least give us the ability to do like you request and do away with the horrible black bar which presents itself in some apps.
However - if you are into flashing roms then some of the custom roms give you the ability to change the functionality if the bottom three buttons - also adding long press abilities which you can define yourself, you can also toggle the black bar on/off if you so desire aswell, the following is a Rom which supports what you are after - comes highly recommended from myself;

as for why HTC make the recent task button, they followed Google. Google said its the death of the menu button, and introduced the action bar. not all apps are updated with it yet, so One X suffer with the black menu bars, except for google apps. unlike Galaxy Nexus, which has soft buttons, not capacitive like One X.
Hi guys, just installed Blade ROM 4.6 last night and I've noticed something wierd with the onscreen menu buttons. They don't seem to appear in most apps even when I don't have a hardware key mapped to that function. Its quite a small thing but I was wondering if there's a way to restore the stock behaviour of them actually appearing (like the the top right of chrome all I get is the switch tabs button no menus button).
Cheers

Hi.
I'm new here, came from Galaxy s2 that served me well for a long time.
Today I received my new htc one m8, i have root it and installed xposed framework.
As i came from 3 button layout(home, menu and back) and htc has home, back and recents (which show on long press one the home button of the S2. i really miss the menu button. I know whenever there is a need for menu , the 3 dots appear. But i relay on it for specific shortcut and it will not appear on all my apps.
I think in Lg G2 there is a built in option to change the soft buttons layout.
I didn't found a specific way to change the layout or a way to add the menu to appear all the time
Does anyone has an idea if its possible?
If not built in, maybe an xposed module that will do it or simulate the recent button to act as menu button on long press?
I have sense 6 toolbox module, but it has only back and home key modification onlong press.
Thanks.

Hi all,
I'm using the Modaco toolkit navigation bar for my HTC One but the soft home button will not open the menu when it's held, instead it opens Google Now. I have the hold for menu checked in the display and gesture settings. Thanks for any help
Hi,
Just recently got a M8. Enjoying Sense so far but one thing is bothering me a little.
The most ideal solution to know is if it is possible to get some quicksettings into the swipe down notification panel? I only need a few of them (wifi, auto rotate, bluetooth)
Or is there any way of doing Google's way of swiping more to the right side of the status bar it'll bring down the quick settings and if you swipe from more over to the left hand side it'll bring the notifications down?
Or failing that.. is it possible to set the quick settings panel to be default as you swipe down? I know you can do it with a two finger swipe but this causes problems when trying to use the phone one handed.
I've got hold of Sense Toolbox but can't find anything in there to do it?
TIA
Used this on my old HTC one s, loved it
