Can't get my phone to come up in Windows.... - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay, I actually have an older HTC Evo and there is no support on that forum anymore....
So forced to post here, hoping someone can help.
Anyways, I am just trying to re-flash the ROM, and want to put an old SENSE HTC install back on it, but cannot get my Windows 7 computer to recognize the phone. Fails to load the device driver.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Install HTC Sync to your computer. It will download and install the latest drivers to your PC. Also make sure your SDK is up to date. Lastly, make sure you have USB debugging enabled on your phone. If you continue to have problems, you may have an issue with your USB port on your computer or you may need to try a different USB cable.

I installed SYNC manager on my computer as well as the Android SDK pack and installed the Google USB Driver there too.
It's like it sees the phone as a drive, but it's like it doesn't think there is an SD card there (see below). I wonder if somehow the SD card is not "mounted"? I don't know. Any help appreciated. I can see the SD card just fine from the Restore menus on the phone.

QPST files (.HEX) for Desire HD

Hello,
A friend give me a bricked Desire HD. But my pc can recognise it at qualcomm modem (QHSUSB_DLOAD) when connected in USB (no led charger, no screen on phone).
After a lot of reseach, I've found the qualcomm QPST program. Have someone already try it ? Did anyone have some Desire HD's files for flashing ? (HEX or BIN files for QPST software download) ?
Thanks for your replies.
Any QCN files available for DHD ?
can you connect your phone and run MTTY?
1. Pull out the battery of the phone.
2. connect your bricked phone and power it on
3. connect with MTTY to diag port COM#: (look up # in device manager)
4. Type "h" and Enter to see if you got something back.

Hi massivekid, I've sent a PM (a bit unrelated to this thread, but close ), could you please look into it. Thanks.
even if my phone is correctly recognize by the pc, mtty can't connect to the COM port. Nothing work and JTAG flash seems to be the only way to make the DHD resurrected...
I'm searching for them too.
Phone stuck in download mode.

(TIPS) Rooting!

Hey guys, I just wanted to post something that might help out some people, in case perhaps their USB Drivers don't work, or they can't get odin to recognize their device.
Note: I do not claim these to be definite answers. These are just things I have discovered to work.
1.) My computer won't recognize my phone! What do I do?
A.) Try this. Download the USB drivers from (possibly) another post here on XDA, or install the Samsung Kies application.
Then, get an application to extract the driver software, such as uniextract.
Extract the installer to a directory of your choice: (For simplicity, I say Desktop)

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then, go into Control Panel>Device Manager
Go to your device; It might be listed as "Unknown" and right click it.
Go to "Update Driver Software" and then click "Browse my computer"
Locate the Directory you extracted the installer to, and then click "Next"
wait for it to finish, then you're done!
Note! If it does this again, your device may show up as a modem. If so, just recreate the steps, and it will work.
2.) Odin doesn't show my device!
A.) If you just got done doing the steps above, you need to restart your computer. If not, check to make sure your phone is in Download mode. If still it does not recognize it, make sure you have "USB debugging" enabled in developer settings.
ATM, these were the only things I kept getting stuck at; if you have any more info on how we could help out some of the noobs (like me),
please reply!
Thanks!
NOTE! I forgot to mention, taht if you had previously installed drivers, YOU HAVE TO UNINSTALL THOSE! Otherwise, it will not work.

[Q] Why won't the Samsung drivers properly install?

whenever I try to install the Samsung drivers I get this, no matter how many times I wipe the drivers from my computer and install them as admin, I keep getting this

Where did you get the drivers? You could try the Samsung website.

I've tried both links from here and directly from samsung's website, same result
I'm stumped as to why it won't work. I have installed them on a XP and Win7 machine without a problem. Are you using Win8?

Nope, Windows 7, I found a guide that says to uninstall the drivers from the device manager as well as programs so I'm going to give that a shot

The Samsung drivers are notoriously difficult to install. Usually it's just a problem of finding the correct driver for your exact phone model. You'd think that would be easy.. but Samsung has a million variants.
The easy solution is to install Kies which will identify and install the correct driver for you. If you subsequently find that Kies interferes with Odin you can simply uninstall Kies, but you'll still have the driver you need in place.

[Q] Windows 7 doesn't recognize phone

I have a stock AT&T HTC One X, trying to root my phone.
I've downloaded everything I need, but I can't connect my phone via USB. I've downloaded various drivers from here and HTC Sync Manager, but that doesn't help.
All I'm getting is this whenever I connect via USB

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

}
Also, every time I install a driver, a command prompt window shows up with the words "Access Denied", spazzes out, and disappears. The installation never said it was finish, so I'm guessing it never worked.
Without it, I can't get to the command prompt of the ADB and Fastboot.
On my Windows 8 laptop, I'm capable of connecting with the right drivers, but Windows 8 isn't compatible with fastboot.

ADB push using CWM recovery/ How to install the drivers FOR USB MASS STORAGE

Accidentally i wiped out everything, including the os, and the usb mass storage from cwm recovery didnt work. Tried to install twrp recovery aswell, but the touch was unresponsive. Even tough, i found out MYSELF that i can manually install the adb drivers by going to device manager ( right click in my computer/ properties/ device manager) and updating the driver software.
IMPORTANT- YOU MUST HAVE HTC DRIVERS INSTALLED, NO NEED FOR HTC SYNC!
Follow these simple instructions:
1) right click on one( this is supposed to be your one X)
http://postimage.org/
2) browse my comp for driver software
http://postimage.org/app.php
3) pick from a list of device drivers
http://postimage.org/
4) highlight android usb devices
http://postimage.org/
5) highlight my htc
http://postimage.org/app.php
6) click yes
http://postimage.org/
7) and done, your adb drivers should work from now on
http://postimage.org/app.php
8)
http://postimage.org/app.php
Now, for getting usb mass storage in CWM work, follow these instructions:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
[/url]
http://postimage.org/app.php
-right click on the SECOND my htc
-update driver software
-browse my comp for driver software
-pick from a list for device drivers
-highlight usb mass storage device
-next and VOILA!
Now usb mass storage mount should work properly
Sorry if this thread already exist, but in my researches i couldnt find it
I found installing the drivers quite a hassle if you don't know how it works, especially that ADB needed different drivers than fastboot. In conclusion thank you, it will probably help some people
