Screen minimum brightness - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to change the level of minimum brightness? In complete darkness, the screen is a bit too bright even on the lowest setting.. Only gripe on this near immaculate phone

Project Butter

Can anyone explain me the advantages of Project Butter?
What does Google achieve by limiting the frame rate at 60fps??
If a device can go beyond that, won't it be smoother??

Not exactly. If the device is jumping through diffrent FPS like 60 to 38 to 49 to 28 frames the devices UI will look laggy and choppy. Ie speed ups and slow downs.

So, the frame rate is always 60? Never below that?

It is locked at 60fps unless your device lags.

I think screens of phones usually can't run at fps higher than 60.

Its like using vsync on your pc. Limiting the max fps to the refresh rate.

This is the best answer.
The refresh rate of the screen is 60hz.
Meaning the screen updates what is displayed 60times per second so while it is possible to go over 60fps there is no need because the screen can only show 60 changes a second

I also means that say a it can run at more then 60 FPS and its not means all the power is now used to keep it at a steady FPS making it much smoother,

If you have super human eyes then yes. The average human can only see at about 20fps so even 60fps is overkill. No need to drain more battery for a few frames

true that
you can see between 10 - 12 FPS as single images.
older films where played at either 24 or 25 FPS, the hobbit was 48 FPS.

[REQ] Rear main camera AWB calibration file

Hi all,
Could someone share the awb_cal file for the ov4688 (main rear camera) sensor? Should be under this folder:
/sys/andoid_camera_awb/
With ES file explorer it's a 5 min thing.
Needed for M7 OV auto white balance issues, maybe this helps.
Thanks a lot in advance

[Q] a small square on the left hand side of the horizontal line between the camera le

Hi pplz.
I've recently noticed a small blemish or square on the horizontal line on the back of M8 on the left hand side. I thought it was a small production fault, but I've seen the same thing on the phone in some reviews. This is my first HTC phone so dont know if this a HTC trait? Or an actual fault. The reviews with the same thing were seen on mkb and pocketnow.
Would be interested to know if you guys have same thing.

Just replace /system/media/audio/ui/effect_tick.ogg with something you like more.
Note that you'll need root.
I love that sound myself! This is the only phone I keep the touch sound on for.

What does this mean

Keep having this annoying thing come up is there a way to disable it

Do you have any screen dimmer or similar apps on your phone?
I've had the same using both stock and LeeDrOiD, no app installed that I know of.
Going in to brighter conditions stops this popping up but it is quite annoying.
