New tool : DSMBuilder

Hi,
I'm developed a tool named DSMBuilder.
It's a GUI tool for make dsm files.
Package = DSM File
You can :
- Create a new package (DSM file),
- Load a existing package and modify it,
- Load new certificate for package,
- Save the certifcate of package for use in another package,
- Load new dependency packages
- Remove certificate
- Rebuild the file and module list,
- Change the friendly name of package and other attributes.
- View list of Dependency packages and Shadow GUI List
- DSM Information updated with new structure.
- Remove one dependency package
- Clear list of dependencys package and shadow GUI list
- Beta version. Tested and generate a valid DSM file with all parts.
Changelog:
2008-08-08 :
- bug fix. DSM file not saved where attributes Hidden, System or ReadOnly is setting in file.
2008-07-28:
- Initial release.

With this tool, is possible load/save certificates and change friendly name of dsm files, buildOS generate a basic dsm file missing certificate.

great tool bro
my observations/suggestions:
1. tool doesn't work on hidden files.
2. some menu's are not in english.
3. may be u can add an option to delete the certificate from dsm
4. is it possible to edit the dependent packages list?

4 - I'm planning functions for add and delete dependent packages list and shadown GUI list
I'm too plannig another tool based in this (mixed of pkgtool and BuildOS)
and DSM files will be saves in a xml file (also as xxxxx.dsm.xml, incorporate the actual option.xml) for future edit and manipulations.
What do you think about this?

A non english text is generate for my compiler with lib in portuguese language. I fix this

many improvements mate . but i still have some observations:
1. tool doesn't modify the DSM if it is having 'read only', 'system' & 'hidden' attributes. i've to remove those attributes first if i want to modify a dsm. it would be better if the tool can modify the dsm without having to remove these attributes (at least we shouldn't need to remove 'system' and 'hidden' atrributes).
2. pls add the option to minimize the tool
and i've a question, what's the use of 'dependency package list' and 'shadow gui list'? what will happen if i remove all of these dependencies from a dsm like the dsm in Shell?

I tried to use this new build. I dont face this problem I can see all the files (hidden & system) when I refresh the file listing

refresh the list, make some changes and try to save that DSM which is 'hidden' and 'system'.

Well, actually I removed a few modules from the folders and opened the dsm in this proggy. Refreshed the list, it still shows me all the files

I am a novice in this matter, a changelog would be something like me post a new version, increasing their number and say what was modified? Because I'm already doing something like this, but without specifying the version number.

Good question! The dependencies are used to indicate that packages must be present so that it functions properly. The "Shadow GUI List" is a mystery to be solved. The correct that we would be tools of manipulation of ROMS to examine it and say what is missing. You are in my plans to create a new tool to manipulate ROMS with these characteristics.

[Extract|Build] LG DZ Tools (updated 03/06/11)

Hello.
WP7DZExtract extracts every partition from DZ file and converts flash.bin to nb (opens by htcRIE).
My second tool WP7DZBuild builds DZ from partitions and their table (mb it will be not required, please pm me LG device owners).
By the way, files from that topic were extract using this tool.
Usage:
WP7DZExtract.exe input.dz output_dir, there input.dz is DZ ROM file, output_dir is directory.
In output directory will be created many files, one of them, flash.bin, is nb file, just rename it to flash.nb and open it using htcRIE or any tool.
WP7DZBuild.exe input_dir output.dz, there input_dir is directory constains flash.bin, output.dz is out file.
Note: This tools requires .Net Framework 4.0 (at least Client Profile). You can download it form Microsoft web site.
I hope it works (althrough my device is LG, but there is no way to dump or flash it's ROM). Any bugreports here.

I've used standart GZIPStream (works well for unpacking), but it's output doesn't equals original, i've tried to use SharpZip, DotNetZip and even gzip, but uselessly... LG Flasher doesn't work on my computer (why?), so i can't check my work, i fully hope on you, LG owners! Sorry for my english, i dislike online translators and write as i know, though my english skill is pour (too).

Everything works well. Mb you are using old version of htcRIE? Try to donwload most fresh. At least WP7DZExtract checks hash after unpacking and compares it with dz included, so if hash matchs file is successfully unpacked.

Your correct. I was using "0.5.0.12" Upgraded to "0.7.0.19" and it works.

I was able to get the LG Quantum dz and use these tools to have a look inside the rom and the registry. It makes me wish we could rebuild these roms to unbrand them.

That's right, i wanted to build my own rom, but as i wrote above there is no rom for my device. Please test it LG owners, i want to check my gz.

WP7DZBuild
I have been working on my own encrypt/decrypt program. The decrypting is fine, however the trick is encrypting the extracted files back into a flashable image. Using GZip or Zip on linux produces a ROM that is 200 KB smaller than the original LG C900AT ROM. The LG flasher program gives the error "ErrNum 501 Load Image."
So I tried using your WP7DZBuild tool to create a ROM and it's size is 214 MB, the original ROM is ~191.8 MB. The LG flasher program does not give an error when using the ROM built with your tool, but the ROM will not flash to the phone (LG Quantum C900). The LG flasher program just sits waiting. It seems as if the recompression of the files is the key to making the build process work. The original ROM from LG contains files that are decompressable with GZip, but using GZip to recompress results in an invalid file.
I have looked at the binary file produced when using both GZip and Zip, both contain the filename which is not included in the Original ROM . Also, looking at the GZIP file format, some of the Data headers are empty in the original ROM, but both GZip and ZIP fill these fields in.
Do you guys have any ideas as to a ZIP program/library that can output a valid Zip file for inclusion in a flashable ROM that does not include the name of the file that was compressed to make the file? Maybe the original LG encryption program deletes/zeros certain fields in the Zip file header?
Also, just taking the decrypted original ROM's files while still compressed by whatever method LG used, I can create a flashable ROM (it's actually what my phone is running right now!). I'm thinking of GZipping the files and then going back and zeroing out the fields so that the data headers match the original. Maybe that will work.
Has anybody else tried to rebuild a ROM and flash it to the phone?

dumped a ShpApp file then save it to another location
and here is the surprise
i did a hash check between both files and they didn't match!!!!!!!
have the same size same name differs in dates and differs in hash check
i think you have to work on your beta app more

and by the way the UI is more simple than trix so i pet it will beat it when it is finished

Hash should be different. Programs use different ways to sort the directory

MD5 Hash is only "mandatory" for Multiloader. But you can also disable MD5...
NO MD5 Hash needed.
Important is only that structure of created files is valid and content files are not corrupt...
But for instance sort Order from A to Z or from 1-10 or versa vi is not important.
I mean position from content files in created files like FFS...
Example, 3 files:

Both created files are valid, but MD5 differs, NOT equal...
Generally. Hashes like MD5... if only 1 Byte is different. Then Hash complete different.

Multiloader does not check the MD5 hash, it checks the signature on the offset 440 bytes from the end of the file. My program calculates and corrects the signature.

I used your tool to create a custom SHPApp.app file. But I think multiloader checks the MD5 hash and does not enable me to upload it to the phone. I have read adfree's post on disabling it but I couldn't understand him. So if you could help me in detail, I would be grateful.

I tested the program and flash the modified files via multiloader V5.64. Everything works fine. Upload your file and give me a link, I'll check it
PS. Signature at end of file, it is not MD5 hash, this is another hash function. I disassemble it from multiloader and inserted into the program. The file is signed correctly

One doubt. Will I have to extract and recompile using your software itself? Because I had extracted the software earlier using trix. So maybe that's making your software not sign it correctly? Also I don't see how I can extract amss and csc files with your software. When I select on your AMSS and CSC tabs, there's nothing. I can't find the fie button which is there on the FFS, PFS and SHPAPP tab.

I can make a separate menu item, for signing the files created in Trix. If need be.
Working with CSC and AMSS files will be in next update

This really pisses me off that someone says TriX doesn't work etc only because it uses program from unknown source. The second reason mentioned at the beginning is I'm still working on so the badastudio is permanently outdated (this also applies to Wave Remaker - 0.0.71 against 0.06 in badastudio)

Yes but with waveremakr we can only decompress Rsrc1 and we cannot compress the files back and build rsrc1 file..
if I mistake tell me how to do it..

Oh sorry i dont know about that, i understand. Then what about NokiX ?

NokiX is tool for modify N*kia ARM7TDMI based firmwares. TriX also was designed for N*kia phones but it's very flexible so we can use it with different file types (ELF, PE, mobile firmwares)
If the author really want to include TriX in badastudio he should add small web check feature and download latest build when needed

I may recommend you to use http://resourcelib.codeplex.com/, to extract localized strings and display correct app name instead of @AppResLib.dll,-100

I keep getting an error when trying to launch the app. It says that a required assembly "Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks.vs Version 10.0.0.0 be installed in the Global Assembly Cache first." When I Binged looking for an answer to this, I found this on the Microsoft MSDN Forums:
I was able to fix this by de-selecting these items in the properties window of my project file.
In the Publish Tab, under Install Mode & Settings, Click the "Prerequisites" button, then only select the Items you need to install.

the power pack dll is actually needed, i use a control from that dll..
I included also the power pack in the package and in the requisites.. could you please check if it's working? thanks!!

I do have .NET 4.0 installed on my system (run plenty of other .NET 4.0 software.) I just looked on my system, and I don't have a BIN folder under C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Phone Tools\CoreCon\10.0\. BTW, I do have Zune installed, as well as the Windows Phone 7.1 SDK. I don't know why this file doesn't exist on my system.
Ok, so I tried your updated Click-to-Install and it's now working. Well, the application launches. Do our devices need to be Interop-Unlocked for this to work? My Focus S is just developer unlocked.

Edit: A small XAP 205KB, has been hanging for more than 5 min claiming installing. Tried it with another app, it was done in 5 seconds...
Got it running, it cuts off the bottom of the buttons more than 1/2 way, extending the window does not fix.

Anyplan you might make a regular .exe app? This .application is not working for me. I have .net fw 4 but I can't get this to deploy. Just an unknown file extension.

Thanks for helping me get 'Samsung extra settings' app off my phone. The auto brightness setting would not disable on my Focus. It, Ministry of sound and App Highlights were the three apps it detected that were installed before using your tool.

Any plans to impliment export SMS on Desktop using this tool. Also is the PDf and Doc Uploader is same as Book Uploader tool which came out recently ?

Awesome. We did a review of this tool at WPXBOX.
One problem is with the Isolated Storage which always remain blank but if I open it from Advance Tab it displays the PDF file uploaded.
Secondly icons for Homebrew tools aren't displayed properly.
