and KIES was of no use as it did not recognize my I747 on cyanogenMod. Today someone told me that I could get it restored on KIES from tools menu.
-Turned phone off, pulled battery out.
-On Kies, tools> Restore and initialization (?) then input model and serial no. Gave me firmware....... proceeded. After sometime booted phone on download mode but kies failed and gave me message saying emergency recovery code but there was no code. Code space was blank. Now my phone screen show
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again,"
every time I press power button it goes to same screen. I can get to download mode but can do nothing as ODIN is not working or giving me same error. Booting onto recovery mode gives me same "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue" error.
What can I do to get my phone back on working condition. Stupid me, I am expecting to get some job interview calls tomorrow and do not have extra phone o put sim on.
Please help me, My external SD card on phone has recovery image (?) of CyanogenMod if I can get to custom recovery but can not. I would take it in Cyanogenmod if not to stock as long as it gets on working condition.
Thank you

Your phone has the the stock 4.3 bootloader and using Odin to flash a stock ROM could have bricked your phone. Do not use Odin unless the 4.3 ROM has been compiled for use with Odin.
I recommend using Odin to flash the latest d2lte tar recovery. Then copy a custom KK ROM to your SD card and flash that instead of trying to flash a stock ROM.
http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2lte

Out of desperation, i flashed cf autoroot md5 by chainfire using odin that brought my phone back to life ie cyanogenmod 10.
Now when i try to update cyanogenmode i get signature verification fail message. I dont know what is the issue here.
Thanks

Are you trying to upgrade to CM11? All Kit Kat ROMs require a up-to-date recovery.

[Q] Help! ATT i317 would not boot into recovery, only into download mode.

Fellow XDA user,
I am in desperate need for any assistance here. Last night, I was attempting to reflash my ATT note 2 from Jedi X to Jedi XP14. In the process, I was using titanium backup to backup all my apps data. For some odd reason, titanium backup frozed and I was forced to pull the battery to reset the phone...
That's where the problem start. Phone would no longer boot at all, I would be stuck at the samsung logo and it would stay there for hours. I have tried to boot into recovery by holding volume up + Home + Power button and I get the following error message.
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again

Here are the troubleshooting steps I have taken the last 10 hours.
1. Google and read what seems like every single post for my particular problem.
2. Try to flash stock ATT rom using Odin 1.85. (Failed multiple times even with different USB ports) It would always be stuck at system.img

5. Try reflashing CWM recovery using odin 3.07
6. Try reflashing stock ATT firmware using odin 3.07 on a different computer (same error as #2)
7. Try flashing TWRP recovery using Odin. (Still no go.)
8. Try flashing Philz Touch recovery. (no go)
9. Made an account here on XDA and pleading for help. :fingers-crossed:
So anyone please with any suggestions, any help will be greatly appreciated!!

[Q] Stuck on Samsung Boot Logo, ODIN says no PIT partition

Hi everybody,
I didn't download or flash anything recently, and was on 4.1.1 stock firmware. My phone was working perfectly last night. I woke up this morning, and it was stuck on the Samsung boot logo and very hot from the charger.
I was panicking, and quickly loaded up ODIN and tried to download the same firmware I had before. I can't get a yellow bar in ODIN no what I try. I never had this issue before. I have been reading and trying different things for the past 4 hours. I am using the original USB cable, tried all the different USB ports, a different PC, re-installing the drivers, re-installing Kies, re-installing ODIN, and nothing seems to give me the yellow bar in ODIN.
I cannot boot into recovery mode, only download mode. Please help, I'm very worried my phone could be bricked somehow
Seems there is no PIT partition??
If it matters, here is what I get when I try to load firmware without the Yellow bar in ODIN:

Download and flash pit file, then flash stock, or if you have custom recovery then download recovery flashable stock rom and flash using sideload.

You have the 4.3 bootloader on your phone? If you do, you can't use Odin to flash a stock ROM because it may brick your phone. You can only use Odin to flash a 4.3 stock ROM that had specifically been compiled for use with Odin.

Is there a 4.3 rom we can flash with odin? I attempted (stupidly) to flash stock after a CM11 nightly caused a bootloop and would not allow me to enter recovery. All I can do for the moment is enter download mode. Every rom I try to flash I get the same error along with the error on my phone reading:
SW REV CHECK FAIL : Fused 2 > Binary 0
Is there anything I can do?
EDIT: Finally found a fix. I flashed a rom from this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1980683
Just go to their website and download the file for your specific model. After flashing my phone booted up in CM11 (what I previously had installed) but it crashed upon loading the lockscreen. Luckily I could enter recovery mode and do a factory reset. This fixed everything!

Samsung S4 restarting and not going to main screen

i have a Samsung S4 that i bought from a friend of mine couple weeks ago. It was working fine until recently it starting doing this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjJH...=youtu.be&hd=1
As you can see it boots up but doesnt go to the main screen and then restarts. I hard resetted it. I tried to install stock rom using odin but i get an error and it fails. Its a Samsung M919 from tmobile. I have no idea how to fix it. I tried different battery but same problem. I would really appreciate some help.
i downloaded the rom here: http://galaxys4root.com/galaxy-s4-stock-firmware/
this is the error i get with Odin. I tried different usb cables and computers but same error

You trying to flash an old firmware, you need current stock kitkat 4.4.4 and updated Odin 3.07 with a factory reset before flashing.
Look in general section for ShinySide stock firmware.

thx for your reply. So i got Odin 3.07. Is this stock rom u talking about: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SGH-M919. So all i have to do open ODA and put this into PDA and start?
i thought stock meant going back to the origal firmware wht the phone came with which would be androind 4.2?
also is there a better download link where i dont have to wait 6 hours?
thx
You can download from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54155517 using your laptop.
The latest stock nk2 firmware and return to stock, this will fix whatever is borked.
Using latest Odin in pda slot.
Run phone for a couple of days and make sure everything works properly.
Then take chances with custom roms after making a proper backup in case something goes wrong.

If you can start phone by holding volume up and power do you get a custom recovery or a stock recovery?
If you have a custom recovery , look for "back up and restore" check restore for nandroid and try installing nandroid.
If a stock recovery try wipe data/factory reset from recovery.
First image is custom recovery
Second image is stock recovery.

Note 3 Soft Brick - Need help please

Phone: SM-N900T Note 3 T-Mobile
Long story short, I've soft bricked by wife's phone while trying to do a CF autoroot with Odin.
The error i'm receiving is:
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
I've tried hooking it up to Kies (Kies Lite) to run the Emeregency Firmware Recovery, but Kies won't recognise the device.
It just sit's there saying connecting.
I've tried using Odin to flash the stock firmware and I get a error after Nand Write.

I then came across this method below for using Heimdall to flash a recovery and I can't get past the Libusb -12 error on multiple computers/laptops.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545009
I've tried using Zadig.exe and replacing the MSM8960 Drivers with the libsub-win32 drivers which cause gave an error.
I'm at a loss now as how to proceed, i'm no expert on rooting, but i've rooted my own Note 3 and now my Note 4 with no problem.
Any help would be appreciated in getting this running, as we don't have money to get a new phone for my wife since we just had our first baby and finances are tight.

I've used the original note 3 cable, a note 4 cable and different usb ports.
I've tried it on two desktops and a laptop. The rom isn't the latest from sammobile, i'm trying to flash to original stock rom that it came with 4.4.2.
Should I be trying to flash 5.0?
Thank you though for the response. I was getting a little disheartened with the lack of them.
Yes, try flashing the latest lp rom.
firmware upgrade
I had the same problem ( firmware upgrade encountered a problem) what I found is the one needs to use a windows laptop or desktop with windows 7 installed and use the original cable, Odin 3.09 and find the ( HLTE_USA_TMO.pit ) file, search xda for the file. Put the phone in download mode and then run odin after the phone is connected choose pit tab and add the pit file then next click nand erase all, after that go to ap and put the lollipop firmware i used N900TUVSPL1_N900TTMBLPL1_TMB-v5.0.1 then click start and let it run. It should go thru the whole process, when done and phone reboots into the white tmobile screen turn the phone off and press the power, volume up and home button right after phone turns off to get to the stock recovery and while there select the factory/data reset and hit the power button, then reboot phone and that will boot up the phone and get you to the start screen. I hope this works for you and anybody else with this problem i worked with mine.
