I've recently ran into an issue where the screen on my dz does not show anything on it. The phone works and responds to touch however it does not show anything on the screen apart from a couple of white lined down the right side. Would this be a screen fault or a connector fault with the ribbon?

It could be either the main flex cable or the LCD, unfortunately there isn't a good way of testing other than replacing pieces to see what cause this. In truth your situation seems to be 50/50 caused by main flex or LCD, but I still am leaning toward replacing the LCD if you don't want to buy both

Hey Fellow HTC Desire Lovers!
I have a question. Can you replace the top PCB (I think its called) the top one that has the Headphone jack and camera attached to it.
Is it a case of simply getting a replacement part from another phone and swapping the NAND flash? (I think its called the NAND flash module, Its the little square thing next to the camera)
What happened was
My HTC desire had a fist fight with the wall! it left a dent on my wall as well as on the desire!
The odd thing it Smashed the the AMOLED screen and the Housing bad! It caused the camera to be ripped from the PCB circuit board as well as the headphone jack. It is still attached but neither work. I have repaired the screen and replaced the housing (however still need the middle housing as it is still bent)
The phone works fine! Besides the camera and headphone jack and earpiece! What a beast!
Thank you for your help!
Sorry I think its called the Flex cable
Please help if anyone knows if its possible to simply swap it?
Thank you
I don't see why you couldn't swap it, as long as its the same component from another amoled handset.

wow thats great news! So it has to be a AMOLED handset to be able to work? I thought the SLCD and amoled only differed in their screens and possibly connections to the main board at the bottom?
Also when searching ebay i found flex boards that are for Nexus one. will they be ok to use? having a look at them they look exactly the same as the desire one. I cant post a link right now but will do when I can
Thank you
I'm not sure if it's totally necessary for it to be from another amoled handset, but that's how I'd do it, just as a precaution. Not sure about the nexus component.

I purchased a new one from ebay came today swapped it working fine although camera not in properly its missing the shield so its just stuck in there without the top metal to hold it in but no big deal.
For everyone that repaired their phones be careful with the digitizer strip that connects to the screen it's just held on with tape. sometimes it comes loose mine did and the phone bootlooped. I just stuck it on more firmly and its fixed using it now
Thanks ffor your help man!
And your right I don't think it matters if you have amoled or LCD . I just got a generic part for £25

Hey guys. So I've been contemplating returning my phone to Orange for a new one for some time now. However, I'm not particularly sure if it is worth it. Having been made aware of the screen flex issues here on the forums, I checked out my phone and sure enough, it had flex when pressing on the sides of the phone and the bottom right corner.
Now, LCD screen don't like to be touched and on a phone as thin as this it's understandable that some flex would occur. However, how much flex is worth of concern? To see screen distortion on my phone require a medium to hard push on the screen. Perhaps this is normal?
I have been weary of returning anyway due to the other, more serious issues related with this handset. So my question to you is: is it worth returning, or should I just deal with it
Eddy
Bump. How much flex is normal?!

I definitely ask too many questions...
But this one is important. Lol My dinc2 has been having screen issues since I replaced the LCD the first time. I made sure to take it apart carefully. The first time, however, I didn't readhesive the screen. The second time I had to replace the LCD, I did use adhesive. The problem is, part of the screen on the top doesn't work at all. I can see it. But it's like an invisible strip is there and I can't get it to recognize my touch. Is it a digitizer problem? Or did I just not put enough adhesive on?

I recently replaced my digitizer and it registers but for some reason when touching the middle, it doesn't track the finger correctly and shows it going all over the place. Are there any explanations/solutions for this? I was on the understanding that every digitizer/LCD should work on any xperia play but i noticed the barcode sticker was green unlike my last digitizer which was white. Does that signify any change in the actual digitizer? and why does every guide separate 4g items?

You could have gotten a defective digitizer or just simply installed it wrong. Try re-installing or ordering a new one. If the problem persists you should contact the Manufacturer.

How often does this faulty digitizer stuff happen anyway? Also is it really neccessary to lift up the black safeguards(dont know the name) when installing the digitizer because i noticed it connects either way?
also is it possible/what are the chances it's the flex cable?
Thankfully i dropped my nexus7 with a poetic case that i got in the mail yesterday. The tablet screen looks ok (no cracks). the back of devise has a crack near the power button about the length of the camera cut out. there is also a slight crack near the camera about half the length of the camera cut out.
the devise will turn on, but all i can see is a "lit" blank screen. I can't see anything else. It just displays white light. can this be fixed and if so how?
Your backlight works still, but your LCD has either come loose internally, or you have broken it so that it will not display a screen :\

so if i were to repair it i would need to only buy a LCD screen? how to check if the LCD is loose internally? can you provide screen shots and or a vid of someone pointing out the location. LCD can become broken even with no cracks to the screen
tyvm
If you need screens, you may not want to attempt the fix. Its not terribly difficult, but you should have a general knowledge of hardware repair and electricity. Ifixit has a teardown
