[Q] kitkat options - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey all, I have a rooted L710 currently running stock 4.1.2 with TWRP v2.7.0.0. If I loose root access won't be able to use with my truck's appradio.
What's my best course of action to get from where I'm at to kitkat rooted without bricking my phone?
Thanks for any help!

Any of the aftermarket ROMs such as CyanogenMod 11 (CM 11), Paranoid Android, AOKP, and many more are KitKat based and stable enough to use as daily drivers. And, they all should be pre-rooted.
I personally prefer PhilZ recovery for flashing ROMs.
Also, if you're using a SPH-L710, you should flash "D2LTE" builds of whatever ROM you're considering, and you can flash the Paranoid Android GAPPs package on top of it.

I don't believe appradio works with kitkat. Some people have had luck, some haven't. I couldn't get it to work at all running AOSB ROM.

[Q] which rom. help please

I have a rooted n5110 4.2.2 note 8.0
first of all I'm not a noob. However I have been spoiled. Up till nowi have had Motorola decices that have great apps like rom manager and team black hat leaks to help you decide what roms to flash.
I'm at a loss when it comes to all the options in this forum. I see some roms based on 4.2.2; 4.3 and isn't CM 11.0 based on 4.4? If I flash a 4.3 rom and dont like it cani flash a 4.2 rom or restore a backup to get 4.2.2 back? That was a big no no wirh moto devices. Once you upgraded you had to stay less you got a hold of the spf file.
Ive looked into both PAC rom and CM rom: the stable and nightly versions of both. I know nightlies may be unstable so I would stay away from them less it is easy to flash back to a 4.2.2 stable release. And downloaded the right gapps package. Why cant developers just included that in the roms?
So a bit of help please. What are the differences between the 4.2.2; 4.3 and is CM 11 based on 4.0?
I also use twrp as a recovery but have used cwm in the past. I habe both onmy sdcard in case of trouble.
any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Come on....anybody?

[Q] Problem with T889 and 4.4 Roms....

Hi XDA Members,
I have an average understanding of rooted android devices and roms. I currently have a Tmobile Galaxy Note II (T0ltetmo)(T889) that is rooted. It has TWRP on it. I am running currently pacman rom (pac_t0ltetmo-4.3-20140128.zip) which works fine.
Here is the problem.... I am trying to upgrade to a Pacman Rom that is based on Android 4.4 which I have found. I installed the Pacman rom 4.4 & GAPPS stock 4.4 which works flawlessly, the only problem is..... My Radio doesn't work! I have my GSM Sim in and nothing comes up! Heres the thing aswell... I installed other roms that are based on 4.4 and the radio's doesn't work on any of those ROMs either, as soon as restore my other backups that are 4.3 the radio works.
What could be the problem? Is there something I am forgetting to do that the developers didn't tell me? Do I need to install something else that wasn't specified?
Please help!
Flash the newest kernel and modem if you haven't already. I noticed much the same when just testing 4.4 from a 4.1 rom.

goi g from 4.1.2 to 4.4.4 aosp Rom

So I took a long break from flashing my phone. I just want to get a newer stock android Rom on the phone. Not touchwiz Rom. Do I just download and flash the Rom? Up to date bootloader just for touchwiz based Rom correct?
All I know is I have 4.1.2 now. I317m. It's rooted of course and some kind of custom Rom. It's been a loong time
If you go on Cyanogenmod's website they have a installer that is really easy
I don't have a computer access right now. Or very often at all.
Also if I go to a kitkat touchwiz Rom I just have to flash the proper kernel for wifi to work? Is this consistent across all Roms I'd be looking to flash?

i tried several. first was dirty unicorn (they still seem like the best an being familiar with it from s3)
then i tried radium 1.5 because dirty unicorn had issues with social apps....
then i flashed ressureraction remix due to radium home button being broken after flash (unable to go home with home button)
this has been my main rom.. though the update brought sim card issues (10/20/2015) the first one was a off date (3 updates ago) which was running amazing (though i have battery issues.) i also flash the saber kernel from i9505 fourms.
jfltexx works with jfltetmo... just stating this.

Try Eclipse V5 if you want a TW rom. I am using it. I just flash it two weeks ago. I also on stock 4.4.2 before this. First time flashing. Never knowing soo much about rom and other stuff. Make sure you read a lot before flashing. Most of the instruction can get online. Although V6 is out, but i still stick with V5. Most V5 info can get from "[ROM][GT-N7100][TW 4.4.4] Eclipse By AC" under "Galaxy Note II Original Android Development". Happy flashing.

i have been using android version 5.1.1 based on CM 12.1 by ivan meler and i have been using this phone with this rom for the past two months , it's development has been completed that means it is the most finished version with literally 0 bug or lags and i must say i didn't expected this kind of performance at all ... this made me revert back to my note from my iphone 6 (you can imagine the smoothness of this rom) i would not recommend you marshmallow based roms becasue about 20 days i tried one and it had issue so if you use this device as a daily driver i would say go for 5.1.1 roms instead and CM 13&MM is still in development phase that means developers are still making it worthy .
you can hit the thanks button if i helped if anyhow .. if you need any noob friendly guide on how to root and install custom roms you can always ask me .. and there are quite of few tutorials on xda a well as Youtube

Yes it's based on CM but I tested some Marshmallow Roms and this ROM is really good.
Try Ivan Meler's Cyanogenmod 13 Rom ( Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow).
It´s pretty stable and i had no problems until build 6.
Wirth build 7 there is a problem with bluetooth for some people.

All the custom ROMs (not Samsung official) must be installed with a custom recovery like TWRP or ClockworkMod. The custom recovery can be installed with Odin.
I have been like a month with CM13 and I had no problems, but if you want a stable ROM, install an older one like CM12.1 aka Lollipop.

OK. And how it's update?
From 12 to 13 When will be stable. Need again flash and wipe or OTA update?
Try Dr. Ketan's kit Kat, N3, N4 and S5 features. Truly superb. Great battery life, Viper FX for sound. Stable. Tried many but always come back to this one.
