Hey!
I have a Huawei Ascend p6 which is stuck at the boot screen with no custom recovery installed.
I have an sd card with a new firmware, but everytime i try to flash a .zip the phone says:
E:signature varification failed
Installation aborted.
Does anyone now what to do? Please help.
Since its stock recovery that you have on the phone tou must update it eith putting an update.app file inside a folder named dload on your external memory card and booting the phone by presing volume up&down simultaneously and letting it finish the update.

What kind of update.app?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2566453
On this page you can find the links and explanations on how to do everything you need to do. The update.app file can be downloaded from the stock rom sections, you have links for international P6-U06 like B111 up to B132, they are zip archives containig the dload folder in wich is the update.app file just extract it from the zip and put it on your sd card as it is(folder dload/update.app)

This phone is LOCK state.

Did you put the folder dload with update.app file in it on the card or you just copied the zip file directly?
I put the dload folder with uptdate.app directly on the sd card.

Hi All,
I'm one of the unlucky ones stuck in the middle of the power struggle between the Chinese government and Google, and having my Gmail and Market rights rescinded (I only bought the damn phone yesterday!). Having scanned the forums here, it appears that one way in which I can log into the Gmail service and Market on my phone is to edit my hosts file. However, despite the fact my phone is rooted, and that I can pull, and edit, the hosts file, I CANNOT push it back onto the device. It just doesn't appear back in the folder, and after I have reset the device, the original, unedited hosts file makes an unwelcome reappearance. I've tried the adb stuff through Terminal on my Mac, editing it through Astro and through Estrongs File Manager, and it fails each time. I'm just stumped. I would love to get this sorted out if anyone else can help me?
Cheers!
Sorry, but bump!
Anyone out there help? In a similar boat?
me too!
I am having the same exact problem.
hxxp://hiapk.com/bbs/thread-278678-1-1.html
maybe this is a solution but I can't read chinese!
I could weep....
I can read Chinese, and have followed the instructions TO THE LETTER (it says to use Root Explorer, mount the file system as read/write, change the file, mount again to read only, and reboot). Every time I do, the hosts file just simply vanishes from the file list. I reboot the phone, connect to Wifi, and the damned original hosts file reappears again. Can anyone help??????
Try this one...
it just fixed my phone!

Could you post that link again? It didn't come through properly.
Thanks

you go to install .zip from sd card, then choose .zip from sd card
Managed to find how (I'm using GOT OR)
Just put the file in update folder of Open Recovery, boot to GOT OR go find miscellaneous and find the update file there...run it.
and it gave "error (status 4)"
___________________________________________________________
Tried manually replacing the host file using root explorer...doesn't work as well.

using WiFi without the host file is fine, everything work normal..but not through mobile network..
GFW huh...

Download the file, rename it to update.zip and put it in the root directory on your sd card.
Awesome!!!!
I can be such a noob sometimes!!!!! But thank you so much!!!!!!
EDIT!!!!!!
Every time I try to install a new ROM through ROM Manager it keeps failing.. All I see is a picture of a desire lying down with a big red question mark over it.. What to do?
Let me guess... you're probably using Mac OSX 10.6.x.
If so, anything you download having .zip extension (or any compressed file for that matter) is automatically extracted.
You can find the .zip file in the Trash. Just send it over to somewhere convenient.
I do, but i downloaded the file directly on the Phone :-s

my phone doesnt have no rom. i have my telus 2.1 rom saved up on desktop. how do i put it on my phone . cuz my phone when i turn on it only shows hc logo. doesnt do anything else . please help me guys im soo frustrated. havnt slept yet trying to figure it out
anyone? please help
If you put your phone into fastboot mode, connect your phone to your computer via USB and run the file you have downloaded.
It should flash the rom onto your desire.

Is it an .exe file or a .zip file?
If it is an exe try running it from your computer.
If it is a zip file you *might* need to rename it to PBxxxxx.zip ( the actual name flashes up when you enter hboot) and put it on your SD card. When you enter hboot it should flash it.
I am not 100% sure about the zip method so you should wait until someone else confirms.
Someone has replied in one of your other threads saying he had the same problem? Maybe he can help?

Anyone knows?
dont you have a memory card reader or something?
can you boot into recovery? if you can you can mount your sdcard there so it can be read from your pc.
btw if your telus rom file is a .zip, then make sure it is renamed to PB99IMG.zip before you put it onto your memory card. when you reboot into fastboot mode, the zip file should run automatically.

hello . i do have memory card reader just bought it . when i choose recovery the screen goes black and nothing happens.
i just tried the -volume+power it didnt work i did change the file name. then i press recovery again still doesnt work
If you have PB99IMG.zip on your SD card you shouldn't even need to go to recovery.
Start in fastboot mode (power and back) then select bootloader.
It should check your SD card for the file and flash it.

so go to fasboot mode which is - + power? then select bootloader it looks for files but it goes quick . it says something about *no image wrong . cant see it it goes fast
You haven't mentioned it here but you have another thread about a failed root.
If that is the case then you need an official RUU (The .Exe files to update the phone) which can be found at shipped-roms.com and try to flash back to standard using a PC. None of the rooted/custom ROMS will work so a zip file os probably out of the question.
If this doesn't work then you're stuck I'm afraid, you may be able to pass it off and get a repair or replacement as a dead phone.
I am currently on CM11.0 and I wanted to flash the original B709 firmware .. I downloaded the zip where there was only one single file named as "UPDATE.APP"
I read online the way for flashing that file was to flash the stock recovery first(which I did) and put the UPDATE.APP in the dload folder in the sdcard(which I did too) and I went into the stock recovery by pressing the vol up button with the power button
I then clicked at Update via external storage, I clicked on that and it directed me to the sd card's folders out of which I chose dload and nothing was being showed there.
any help? where am I wrong?

Hello,
My huawei p6(international version) failed to update to KK 4.4 from B132 JB 4.2.2.
Here's the reason:
E:Error executing updater binary in zip/external??
Error flashing zip ' /external_sd/dload/B510.zip'
FAILED
Anyone had this issue ?
I'v tried all the options what are around the web.
Any other suggestions?
You can't flash official rom in zip file.Unpack zip, folder dload copy to ext. card and than flash rom with stock recovery.

I have used both, and funny it is, both recoverys show the same error. I just flashed TWRP and tought it might give me a better answer.
Also i tried trough Huaweis suite and it tells me an error like this"Unable to unzip zip" on every firmware i try.

It seems like you've put the zip file directly into your SD card, you have to extract the folder named "dload" and then put it in the root directory of the SD card.

Where in your SD card are you putting the dload folder with the update.app file?
So you have to rename B510.zip to update.zip and then put the zip onto your sd card in a folder called dload, after that just use local update or force update via the three button method.

I'm no expert, but I think he has to unpack the update.app file, put it inside a folder named "dload" and then move that folder into the root directory of the SD card. I don't think the system can read the zip file directly.

Normally this would be right but it's an OTA update so it has to be a zip.
