[Q] Canvas 4 Bootloader and ROM Queries - Micromax Canvas 4 A210

Hello everyone. So here's what I did. I rooted my canvas 4 using framaroot and it worked perfectly. I did not flash custom recovery and did not do anything else... My query is that... Is my bootloader unlocked ? Also, when you root does your bootloader get unlocked ? Or its a different concept ? Also, how do I check if my bootloader is locked or unlocked ?
Also I have heard that at the service center, they check your bootloader status and if it is unlocked, your warranty is voided... So is there a way to lock the bootloader ? I will be grateful to anyone who can answer these questions to my full satisfaction....

is my mobile bootloader already unlocked?

Hello Guys,
Today i was about to unlock my bootloader using SE Bootloader Unlocking v1.6(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560613) but before doing so i used s1tool to identify my device. Here is the screenshot. Check my S1_EROM version it starts with "r" not "R".so it's alreay unlocked? How do i know(check) my mobile has bootloader unlocked?
I bought this mobile almost a year ago and it was brand new from stock. So not sure it's already have bootloader unlocked since i haven't unlocked the bootloader yet.I just want to know what's happening.Sorry if this question has already been asked as i am kin of noob(but have rooted and flashed ROMs using flashtool and CWM) and want to know what's the bootloader status. If anyone know how to check bootloader unlock staus it would be very kind to share as i am gonna unlock my bootloader and need to recheck if it's unlocked properly so that it won't brick my phone.

Try flashing a kernel is the obvious and simplest answer.

So if my bootloader is locked it won't let me flash custom kernel like(boot.img of cynogenmod) or it will brick my phone? You link doesn't explain anything on how to check bootloader unlock status."bootloader unlock allowed:yes" will be for those devices whose bootloader can be unlocked but it doesn't tell you if bootloader is unlocked or locked.
I simply want to unlock my bootloader. Then flash cynogenmod.I want to make sure bootloader is unlocked properly before flashing cynogenmod kernel. If flashing boot.img on bootloader locked device won't brick my phone then i am ready to go.Just need conformation on what happens if i flash custom krenel and rom in bootloader locked mobile accidentally.

When your rooting status says
"Bootloader unlock allowed: yes"
Then the bootloader is locked..
If it says
"Bootloader unlocked: yes"
Then your bootloader is unlocked..
Simply dial *#*#7378423#*#*
Then find your rooting status..
And I think you should use the official way to unlock bootloader.

HAhaaa unless that shopkeeper imported the phone, unlocked bootloader and flashed a kernel.Place where i live doesn't have authorized sony mobile distributors. So they import from somewhere.
My booloader was unlocked whole time after purchasing it.It was new when i bought but no sure now.Anyway i am satisfied with my purchase a year ago as i haven't got any problem till now except that famous house crack.
I have flashed Cynogenmod successfully.Thank you all for the help. You guys gives some courage for nervous guy like me who are tempting to do new things.

Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No and CWM Question

Hi Everybody,
I have a Xperia M C1904 on JB 4.3 [15.4.A.1.9] on Vodafone Australia
My bootloader unlock status is no i was wondering if it is possible to
A) Unlock the bootloader
B) install Custom roms (KitKat Possibly?)
C) get some form of custom recovery whether it be TWRP or CWM etc.
and also i would like to know step by step how to check whether the sim is locked and if possible how to unlock for free (if locked)
i know its alot to ask
Thanks
Andrew
I'll tell you everything I know.
Unlocking the bootloader unlocks the full capacity of the phone. This means you will be able to flash a custom recovery, and within the custom recovery, you can flash ROMs and everything else. But if "Bootloader unlock allowed" says no, then you won't be able to unlock your bootloader, thus not being able to flash a custom recovery. The only way to flash these is to implement a custom recovery for locked bootloaders, which is not yet available for Xperia M.
To determine whether your SIM is locked, the phone won't read it and would request for a SIM Unlock PIN.

A) we will never be able to unlock the bootloader if it says bootloader unlock Allowed: no.
B) possibly in the near future, if we get a custom recovery working on LB
C) some devs are working on it, but nothing yet. We could be getting it in the near future.
To see if your phone is sim locked, go to the phone app and enter the code *#*#7378423#*#* and a service menu should open up. Click on service info, then sim lock. If you have a 3 beside network then you are sim locked. If you have a 0 then you are sim unlocked.

[Q] Can I root without unlock the bootloader or to locked it again?

Hello guys, sorry because may be this is the 50th time someone ask this question but the situation change every day. Yesterday I won from lottery and decide to go from G3 to G4. My model is European H815, I want to ask you can I root G4, change the recovery and e.t.c. without unlocking the bootloader? And also if I unlocked it is their any way to locked it again or to use my warranty? Thank you!!
well you can only root using low effort root(google it or find it here ) But to change recovery you have to unlock bootloader
No there is no way confirmed to relock your bootloader
GOOD LUCK
Thank you! If I root by this way and download Flashify and try to change recover what will happen ? Thank you!
without bootloader unlocked nothing will chnage ( recovery wont be installed ) and when you reboot your phone it will get u error (authentication error #9) as i remember and you will have to flash new firmware using lg flash tool 2014 so i dont recommend you do so
if u wanna change recovery unlock ur bootloader
you are welcome anytime
I did not get it, I hope you can light me up:
1. Doing root using low effort root means rooting without unlocking bootloader? (because I flew over the thread and did not read anything about it)
2. If I do unlock Marshmallow's bootloader, what happens when I downgrade to Lollipop via flashing proper KDZ? (I would guess that the unlocked bootlader will be overwritten!? So flashing Marshmallow again would end up in a locked bootloader, doesn't it?)
thanks
You can root lollipop without unlocking bootloader but with marshmalow you can't, you have to unlock the bootloader.
You need an unlocked bootloader for custom recovery.
Bootloader unlocking is a one way operation , you can't go back.

Just a few doubts regarding Bootloader and rooting

Hey guys, I'm new to the Redmi forums, I've been on XDA since 2012 and have been using mainly Xperia devices.
So just had a few doubts regarding this phone(bought it last week)
I read about the procedure to unlock the bootloader and everything.
1. I know unlocking will void my warranty, but can i then relfash stock rom and relock bootloader to show that the bootloader was never unlocked? We could do that in Xperia.
Is it possible to do it now?
2. Will just rooting require the bootloader to be unlocked? And if yes would the warranty be void if I unlocked the bootloader and just root the phone without flashing custom ROMs?
Unlocking bootlader procedure doesn"t void you warranty. At least in Poland
Rooting requires unlocked bootloader. Im not sure about rooting, but you can always flash offcial miui build and its going to unroot your Redmi and relock you bootloader

1. As far as I know the warranty is not void. I have not seen any such warning. But please do check from your end.
2. Rooting will need unlocked bootloader if you are doing it via the recovery. Maybe one click root apps wont. I dunno of any one click root apps for RN5 Pro
Unlocking bootloader don't void warranty of xiaomi phones its confirmed
Changes in rom may void warranty like rooting
But u can again clean flash rom with mi flash restore to factory stage is possible
