My question, Note 2 or Lg optimism g
I know this really isn't the best place to ask but I just have an opportunity to switch, and I'm curious.

I'd stick with the Note II as it has several advantages over the LG Optimus G - for example, the S Pen with excellent note taking capabilities, 3,100 mAh battery vs. 2,100 mAh battery, and the screen is much smaller on the LG (which depending on your preferences may throw you off a bit until you adjust to it.)
I also find the user interface on LG phones to be a bit lacking and, to be honest, an eyesore - I was looking at the Optimus G on display a few days ago when I was browsing around and it still feels like Gingerbread (mind you if you're planning to root and flash another ROM it's moot point, but if you want to stay stock then it's something to think about).

Yeah, when I picked up the phone I liked the size vs the note 2... other than that I feel like the note 2 is a better phone. I really just want cm10 so the spen doesn't really matter. Plus I hardly use the pen. I find that with the lg build that phone could be a monster! With the right rom. Battery wise if it can last a day that's all that really matters, but I do enjoy 47 hours of battery. Thanks!
On another note, ****ing cowboys suxk!

I have a Razr Maxx and I bought it solely for the battery life. Its been great for that but I hate the phone in general. There are pretty much zero 100% solid ROMs out there and the screen is killing me. I do 99% web browsing and then 1% text. So screen size is a big winner for me along with the battery life... There are a few used Note IIs near me on swappa and I see that I can get around 150-175 for my Maxx. Thus the Note Ii costing me around 150 give or take...
Im due for upgrade next year in March. So I dont think I can hold back that long lol. Is the Note II worth buying? How is the DEV scene? Any pertinent problems with it? with the ROMs? Battery life good?
Thanks guys.

Definitely worth buying.
The dev scene is pretty good and the battery life is great. Especially if you buy a zerolemon battery.
That said, give it a shot stock.
There's been a massive uptick in folks making mistakes flashing. I'm pretty content running stock and not rooted. I just ignore the bloatware apps.
Be careful flashing roms. Samsung pushed out an update which changes the efs partition and if you choose the wrong rom it will corrupt your efs partition. Great phone though, you can't really go wrong with it

if the dev scene is an important criteria then
the best challenging work is for the latest models and Note 2 is not the latest
Hi, I have had DROID RAZR maxx as well. But about 6 months ago i changed it for galaxy s3 and it was already an improvement that made me happy. The only thing that i missed about RAZR was huge battery life which was even better as phone was only 2qore proc.. and after 2months of using s3 i changed it to note2. So i am feeling your dilemma as to make the switch or not. And i say do it if you have the means. You will not get disappointed at all.

Yeah the dev scene is pretty important. I like to be able to tether whenever I want to.
A week ago I broke my nexus 4, cracked it lol. So Im using this chance to get a upgrade of space(sdcard slot) and I found this phone broken on ebay (cracked screen nothing else) for 130. My question is: is it worth getting this phone, or should I get the optimus G (e970) and put it on tmobile..
The Optimus G pro is supposed to be alot better than the e970 and I really think it is, Specifically because:
Internal Storage of 32gb
Bigger screen
13 Mega Pixel instead of 8
Notification Led is in front instead of side
Battery is way bigger
and many others..
My brother doesnt think I should try for the phone because he has heard that the performance is worse than the e970 because its a bigger screen with a higher pixel density and the same gpu as the e970, Im not worried about the gameplay right now. Should I be?
However I do have some concerns which are:
The Developer community is smaller I think
And is the service good on tmobile?
My brother has his en970 on Tmobile, is it possible to have the Pro on tmobile? and if so does it get good service?
Ill list more if I remember any
Have any of you had the e970 before you got this phone? how did the difference feel?
I look forward to hearing your opinions. and I really appreciate them.
Sincerely Joshua
P.S. I apologise for any incorrect grammar
Both LG phones just work, not much need for development.
It comes down to whether you want the larger screen.
I have never used T-Mobile and have no idea how they work on that carrier, but don't they have the same bands?
I am currently using a MotoX and keep eying the G Pro as my next phone. My Optimus G was every bit as good as the MotoX and the G Pro is essentially the same phone with a larger screen.
Good luck with your next phone..
BTW - the camera is great on my wife's G Pro and so is the battery life.
Yeah I'm really hoping to get that phone soon too. Because it looks amazing, way better than the e970 lol. And personally I think the larger screen will be something I'll get used to.
Yeah, both the pro and the e970 have the right bands for T-Mobile and I'm hoping it'll work good or better than the e970 does.
I bet, as soon as I heard about the camera and the battery life I was like "whoa"
And thanks btw, Good luck to you too.
bought one today on ebay for 225$...
i think its the cheapest used snapdragon 600 phone on the market..

I'm comming from an LG E970 (OG AT&T variant) and got my g pro recently so here are my thoughts:
Pros:
-GORGEOUS screen. The huge screen is a lot better than the OG, and the size makes it ideal for movie/video watching.
-Lots of storage. The OG has 16 internal and sd slot. I had mine with a 16 gig sd. Never ran out of space but the extra is always welcome.
-Camera. The 8mp cam on the OG is decent at best. The G pro's cam is a whole lot better in every aspect.
-Battery. Whith my OG i was reaching for my charger before my workday ended (with moderate to heavy use of course, some gaming, lots of music, web surfing), the G pro battery lasts a lot longer.
-Stock modded kitkat rom with optimus UI and several lg goodies available (knock off anyone?)
-Price. I got mine in mint condition for under $300 on ebay, and there are a lot of offers for $250-$300 in good shape. Just like the OG this phone is a good bargain when it comes to bang for buck.
Cons
-Very small dev support. The OG and N4 have a ton of roms to choose from, the G pro doesn't.
-Size can be overwhelming at first, takes a while to get used to. I have small hands but still manage to do most hings one handed.
-"Brickability" or how easy it is to get a soft brick on this phone(read the threads). Though it is easy to bring back and i havent read of any hard bricks, a lot of people have soft bricked trying to flash radoenmaya's kitkat rom.
so there you have it. I've only had my G pro for a couple of days, but used an optimus G for months, and with the new kitkat rom, I can't say I miss the OG except maybe for the size sometimes(playing ingress on the G pro is sweet!).
Yeah, personally I think it is one of the cheapest too. That's why I want it so bad haha.
However my plan is to buy a cracked one on eBay and repair it myself, hope it goes well.
And that's one of my fears is about the fact that the dev community isn't too big so there are few ROMs, however I don't really mind because it was a little overwhelming to choose from so many ROMs on the nexus 4.
P.s. have you tried beanstalk? How was it?
Og pro has snapdragon 600 no s4 as og has.
Oh yeah true.. Lol

Havent tried it, not really fond of AOSP or CM based roms. I prefer stock modded. I tried it on my OG though and it was solid.
Oh lol yeah I love cm based roms.
Haven't tried too many stock ROMs with mods
I was a Samsung fanboy when my first experience with them was the Galaxy Note... then on to the Note 2...and NO I didnt jump on the Note three...because the Optimus G Pro was available from ATT and OH MY GOD I have loved this phone for the last year.
It's Durable, fast, root-able, beautiful to look at and use and well.. I love it.
But the other day while talking to ATT about my account (and threatening to leave for TMO) they decided to give me an early upgrade (1 yr early!) so I jumped on the S5 to see what all the fuss was about.
I have to say its a nice phone, MUCH lighter and thinner and just as fast as my OG Pro...I'm not missing the .4 inches of screen real estate I was expecting to notice, but after a few days I haven't found anything that I dont like about the GS5...
EXCEPT!!!!
Its locked down, no exploit in place and it looks like it might never be rooted.
So I'm torn... the G3 is being announced in like 90 mins... and hopefully available on ATT shortly after...and the G Pro 2 is out...yet not available state side.
So what am I to do? If the G3 wows me like it is probably going to do.. I will beat feet back to the ATT store and return my GS5 and use my OG Pro till the G3 is available for purchase.....
I really do like the dust/water proof-ness of my GS5...I've already dropped it in the dog's water bowl and of course, no issues at all. That's a nice thing to have with a 700 dollar device.
Anywho... I'm hoping the G3 really wows the hell out of me, because I definitely like that 5.5 inc QHD display
Go for g3.
Previously I thought super amoled were best. But after using and experiencing this g pro for about an year, i feel it's IPS display is far better than super amoled. Yesterday I played for a couple of minutes with s4. I was shocked to know and feel that how much inferior it felt compared to ogp. And also felt the screen size was too small after having g pro for one year. In fact the s4 seemed very inferior to me compared to ogp. So I can easily visualize how inferior s5 might feel compared to g3.

Samsung is junk. AMOLED displays sometimes get screen burn in. Mine did.
And when I posted about this Here at xda, every time a person would come along right Behind me and say "I've never had screen burn in". And I would point out that I said SOMETIMES, not all the time.
But yes, I hate Samsung.
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.

Hi guys! I'm in a bit of a dilemma here with choosing between the LG G3 or the Nexus 5. I actually owned a Nexus 5 already but dropped it making it unusable but aside from it breaking and the 2 hr SOT battery life, the Nexus 5 was already amazing to me. The LG G3 on the other hand is obviously a beast in hardware and it looks a lot sexier but I'm just worried that I might not get the software updates I deserve on the LG G3. I'm sure Android L will hit the G3 but as always, having a manufacturer in between you and Google in terms of updates can just make things complicated. I'm just wondering if the extra $200 (That's the difference of getting one here right now in the Philippines) is worth it for the G3.
I also want to know if there are any common issues or defects I should be looking out for because I got a 2nd hand G2 after breaking my Nexus 5 and it was great except that it was heating up so easily (from just browsing and texting even) and the battery life wouldn't get me more than 3 hrs SOT so I'm kind of hesitant in getting a non-Nexus device right now. So now I'm selling my G2 and I'm in a toss up between getting a new Nexus 5 or adding some cash to get the LG G3. Hoping you G3 owners could shed some light and help me decide.
Thanks!!

If the most important thing to you is to get Android updates ASAP, then a Nexus is your best option. The Moto-X (2013) got them almost as fast as the Nexus, so the new Moto-X (2014) probably will, too. But once the sale to Lenovo is completed, who knows if that will slow things down.
Any carrier branded phone will take longer to get updates. Including the G3. I think what the G3 offers over the Nexus makes the wait worthwhile, but not everyone will feel the same way.
I was in the same dilemma, and didn't know which one to get. I figured the Nexus 5 was getting a little out dated and the camera was much better on the G3. I have T-Mobile so I ended up getting the G3 becuase the bootloader was unlocked and the G3 had better hardware and design. I can't wait until a steady AOSP ROM is available. CM 11 is in Alpha stage in the G3 as of now.
Hei
So you guy´s think lg is going to unlock bootloaders as they said?
I´m very much in a dilemma between g3 and note 4...on note 4 there´s gonna be tons of custom roms etc. but not so sure about g3 tho?
But if cm11 is on alpha stage, it´s a very god start, everybody can live with cm11, aosp not needed that bad then!
What would you guy´s choose?

I returned my LG G3 the day the Note 4 was announced.
+ on the LG G3: form factor, rear buttons, max screen to size ratio, camera
- on the LG G3: display, display, display. Coming from a line of Samsung phones, the LG G3 display is dim and colors are underwhelming
+- i never had any trouble with lag, fast enough for me.
I think G3 is a new experience....its so smooth I am so happy with it ,.
About battery:at first time it still gor 9-12 hours , but know is 19- 22 hours ....?.
I thinks you should get it

Get it. Great phone, Display really is something else. Batterys not all that bad just not the leader in the market. Good UI. Not touchwiz crap. Get it haha
Well..I had to decide, too.
The LG3 has a fantastic display but has some issues.
Some people aren't able to make the audio output working in their cars, like me.
Additionally, the LG is a bit laggy, but there are workarounds available and very good working.
The features are stunning, battery is good and the material is fantastic.
I owned a Galaxy Note 2 and experienced that the G3 is close to perfection.
It is like getting a car.
A Volkswagen Golf is nice, but a Lamborghini is nicer.
=> If you aren't able to buy the LG G3, go for the Nexus 5.
In my opinion you have to buy the G3..
I test it yesterday , and the battery from100% to 18 % about 30 h ?.....indeed .....maybe no one will belive that? .....but it's truth?.......well .....with my special Using.
